31 Day Daily Devotional SERIES for the Garden of the Heart: DAY 4

DAY 4
Compare Scripture with Scripture
Sign of SANCTIFICATION [Obedience to CREATOR]
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy
Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God
in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day
wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Symbol of JUSTIFICATION [Grateful to REDEEMER]
Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

Six days thou shalt labor, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, [our bondage here to sin in spiritual Egypt] and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: [like the stretched out arms on the cross] therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
 ....declares the Lord:
I will put my laws into their minds,
and write them on their hearts,
and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Exodus 20:8-11/Deuteronomy 5:12-15/2 Corinthians 3:3

Woven Tapestry of the Sabbath by Paul
For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said,
As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest:
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works
And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said,
 To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts
For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. [SANCTIFICATION aspect: See Sabbath in Ex. 20]
For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. [JUSTIFICATION aspect: See Sabbath in Dt.5]
Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Hebrews 4:3-11

DAILY REMINDER
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
and have not LOVE, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries,
and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
and have not LOVE, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not LOVE, it profiteth me nothing.
LOVE suffereth long, and is kind;
LOVE envieth not;
LOVE vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
And now abideth faith, hope, LOVE, these three;
but the greatest of these is LOVE.
And from Jesus Christ, .... Unto him that loved us,
and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
1 Corinthians 13:1-5,13/Revelation 1:5

 "By the naming of the seventh day it is distinguished from all other days, and by the numbering of the others without naming them the fact that the Sabbath is a definitely recurring day is made prominent."

CLOSING THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
 My doctrine shall drop as the rain,
my speech shall distil as the dew,
as the small rain
                              upon the tender herb,
and as the showers
                    upon the grass:
Deuteronomy 32:2
