Puritan Corner - Our God

"Having given up ourselves to God,
let us comfort our souls that God is our God."
by Richard Sibbes (1577-1635)
But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him;
 2 Chronicles 13:10

A Heavenly Escort

And, behold, I am with thee,
and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest.
Genesis 28:15

"Q: Do we need journeying mercies?
Here are choice ones—God's presence and preservation
In all places we need both of these, and in all places we shall have
them if we go at the call of duty, and not merely according to our own fancy.
---In all lands the believer is equally a pilgrim and a stranger; and yet in every region the Lord is His dwelling place, even as He has been to His saints in all generations.

Jacob had never left his father's room before; he had been a mother's boy and not an adventurer like his brother. Yet he went abroad, and God went with him. He had little luggage and no attendants; yet no prince ever journeyed with a nobler bodyguard. Even while he slept in the open field, angels watched over him, and the Lord God spoke to him."

Creation Moment 1/31/2024 -Latest Pangenome Research Shows......

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1

"One of the hallmarks of evolutionary thought is that evolution is the
result of random, chance processes. But a new study, referred to by the popular press as a “landmark discovery,” challenges “decades of scientific understanding” by suggesting that maybe evolution isn’t as random as was thought. So get ready for the details of this latest installment of “Everything we previously thought about evolution is wrong” (yes, this happens a lot!).

The researchers analyzed the pangenome (defined as “a complete set of genes within a species”) of 2,500 bacteria, all belonging to the same species. Within that pangenome, they identified gene families and then compared those families. And what they discovered is “nothing short of revolutionary.”
We found that some gene families never turned up in a genome when a particular other gene family was already there, and on other occasions, some genes were very much dependent on a different gene family being present.”

The researchers have essentially discovered an invisible ecosystem where genes can cooperate or can be in conflict with one another.

***Now, you may notice that the researchers didn’t actually uncover anything about molecules-to-man evolution.
*They did good observational science, comparing genes and gene families across bacteria—genes that already exist.
*They didn’t make some startling discovery about how bacteria acquire brand-new functional genes (information) for new forms or features, something that is required for evolution to occur and has never been observed.
---What they peered into was the intricacies of DNA! They’re simply taking a closer look at God’s incredible handiwork."

Response to Chronology of Griffth and White

"On perusing the first paper by Griffith and White on the “Chronological Framework of Ancient History” (Griffth and White 2022), I believe they have already revealed a significant crack in their chronological correlation, and in doing so added an extra unjustified assumption to their conclusions
Under the section “Synchronisms” they give what they call a “weak synchronism” of conventional accepted history.

They cite the record of the battle of Qarqar during the reign of
Shalmaneser III, and in their conclusions claim that Ahab of Israel died “40 years before the accession of Shalmaneser III”.

Moreover, the authors claim that the Bible does not mention this battle.
Q: So what?
While the Bible is heavily based on accurate history, it is not a priori an historical textbook, and has in it only that necessary for its spiritual message.
Furthermore, Griffith and White (2022) have failed to point out that three years before Ahab died, he entered into a treaty with Ben-Hadad II (And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel. Kings 22:1), for which he was severely rebuked by God. This was likely 854 B.C., the battle with Shalmaneser the next year 853 B.C., Ahab dying two to three years later when he and his treaty partner, now opponent again, battled it out at Ramoth Gilead (1 Kings 22) in 850 B.C.

Griffith and White (2022) also claim that the translation of the
Assyrian record should not be “Ahab the Israelite,” because the Assyrians called Israel by the name Khumri (that is. the house of Omri).
---Again, this shows poor research on this particular matter, for the Assyrians referred to Israel by several names—Humri, Samaria (Luckenbill 1926, 772 and 779), and in this case Israel.
Again, they have failed to alert the readers that in Shalmaneser’s eighteenth year he received tribute from a king of Northern Israel who has been widely claimed to be Jehu, but who McCarter (1974) has, I believe, rightly identified as Joram, last of the Omride Dynasty. But even here, the slight disagreement over which king, does not alter the fact that a 40-year gap between Ahab and Shalmaneser is impossible." AIG

Revelation 22:4

"Can creationists be real scientists?
High priest of Darwinism Richard Dawkins doesn’t seem to think so:
It is absolutely safe to say that if you meet somebody who claims not to believe in evolution, that person is ignorant, stupid or insane (or wicked, but I’d rather not consider that).”

And apparently we can trust
Dawkins’ assessment, since recently a
genus of fish has been named after him—
Dawkinsia. In the words of lead researcher Rohan Pethiyagoda:
Richard Dawkins has through his writings helped us understand that the universe is far more beautiful and awe-inspiring than any religion has imagined. We hope that Dawkinsia will serve as a reminder of the elegance and simplicity of evolution, the only rational explanation there is for the unimaginable diversity of life on Earth.”

One evolutionist blogger commenting on this gleefully proclaimed: “Your move, Creationists.”

Bay of Fundy

And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth;
Genesis 7:18

"The Bay of Fundy in eastern Canada is famous for its enormous tides. At Hopewell Rocks, toward the end of the bay, the tide may rise as high as 46 feet, but it does not stay high very long. The water is
always moving, either up or down, and the level can change by 3 feet in 30 minutes.
The tides are eroding the cliffs and leaving stacks that are narrow at their base and look like ‘flower pots’ standing on the shore. These have fascinating names like Baby Elephant, Mother-in-law, and Lover’s Arch.
Visitors to Hopewell Rocks, sometimes thousands a day, descend the Main Staircase at low tide and stroll across the ocean floor—until the water begins to rise again.
On-site interpreters gave talks about the local wildlife, sea life, and plant life, and told the geological story about how the rocks formed. Their story was one spanning eras of unimaginable time hundreds of millions of years ago.
When I descended the steps, I saw that the flower pots were made of gravel that had been cemented into stone. Some of the chunks of rock were angular but most were rounded. This conglomerate rock, as it is called, spoke of large quantities of fast flowing water. Rushing floodwaters would not have taken very much time to deposit that gravel. As I walked across the exposed ocean floor and examined the flower-pot stacks and cliffs, I realized I was looking at evidence from the
global Flood of Noah’s time.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?
*Early during Noah’s Flood, about 4,500 years ago, after the
floodwaters had been rising for a few months
, they had deposited vast quantities of sediment in thick layers. Then, earth movements faulted and fractured the crust, as occurred in the Bay of Fundy area. Some areas were pushed up and others sank down, forming a ‘rift valley’.

*Floodwaters rushed into the rift.

*The rushing floodwaters eroded the higher land alongside, depositing thick layers of gravel into the rift. This has been called the Hopewell Conglomerate.

*As the rush of water eased, the valley filled with sand and
vegetation. The vegetation had been ripped up by the floodwaters, and was floating in huge rafts. After the vegetation was buried, heat transformed it, over the years, into coal.

*Further movements in the crust caused huge
volcanic eruptions.

*These earth movements tilted the land around the Bay of Fundy. They opened up the ocean basins allowing the floodwaters to drain off the continents.

*After the continents had drained, the warm oceans produced high
evaporation and high precipitation, which caused ice to build up on the land over several hundred years.

*When the oceans cooled, the glaciers melted back, and the Bay of Fundy emerged much like it is today." CMI

IN the NEWS - Green CULT iconoclasts strike the Mona Lisa

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Galatians 1:6

Iconoclasm is the social belief in the importance of the destruction of icons and other images or monuments, most frequently for religious or political reasons. wiki

"Two protesters from a climate and agricultural NGO hurled soup onto the bulletproof glass protecting Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" painting in Paris, demanding the right to "healthy and sustainable
food
"....two women with the words “FOOD RIPOSTE” written on their T-shirts can be seen throwing soup at the glass protecting Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece and passing under a security barrier to get closer to the painting.

What’s the most important thing?” they shouted. “Art, or the right to healthy and sustainable food?”
The Riposte Alimentaire (Food Retaliation) group describes itself as a collective dedicated to advocating for action on climate change and sustainable agriculture.
On its website, the group said the French government is breaking its climate commitments and called for the equivalent of France’s state-sponsored healthcare system to be put in place to give people better access to food while providing farmers a decent income." France24

Blackford, County, IN Obituary Lesson: A Winter Walk Drunk [1896]

To day if ye will hear His voice,
harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.
For what is your life? It is even a vapor,
that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Hebrews 3:15/James 4:14

Q: What IF he had listened to God's Word and NOT imbibed on strong drink?
"Isaac Fisher, aged about seventy, was found dead in a ditch outside of the city limits this morning
He had been drinking considerably, and it is supposed, was on the way to his daughter's home In the country, when he fell into the ditch, and was frozen to death.
Deceased has been a resident of this county for many years. [Date: 1896-01-29; Paper: Indiana State Journal]."

Our Role Model

"Now, while our great High Priest is making the atonement for us, we should seek to become perfect in Christ.
*Not even by a thought could our Saviour be brought to yield to the power of temptation.
*Satan finds in human hearts some point where he can gain a foothold; some sinful desire is cherished, by means of which his temptations assert their power.
---But Christ declared of Himself: "The prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me." John 14:30
Satan could find nothing in the Son of God that would enable him to gain the victory. He had kept His Father's commandments, and there was no sin in Him that Satan could use to his advantage.
This is the condition in which those must be found who shall stand in the time of trouble."

IN the NEWS - Planned Parenthood Disagrees with God (surprise, surprise)

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18

"Virginity is a social construct and everyone can create their own definition of what sex is, Planned Parenthood claims.
Planned Parenthood
— which notably profits from the killing of
unborn babies via abortion — posted a video to X on Thursday aimed at young people, explaining its definition of virginity and telling young people that they can create their own definition of sex rather than adhere to reality.

Sex means different things to different people. Generally speaking, society tends to define sex in a very narrow way: penetration — penis into vagina. But where does that definition leave queer people? Or folks who can’t, or don’t, have penis-in-vagina sex, and choose to have oral, anal, or another type of sex instead?” the pink-clad woman in the video says.
Sex is defined by one thing and one thing only: You! Maybe that’s being fingered for the first time. Maybe it’s having anal sex. Maybe it’s having your first orgasm. Maybe it’s masturbating for the first time, or when you enthusiastically consent to sex,” she claimed.

That’s the beauty of your sexual journey. You’re in charge, and you
can figure it out on your own terms. Choosing to have sex — when, what kind, where, and who with — is something that only you get to define,
” she concluded.
The organization, whose political arm notably lobbies for abortion-on-demand, the removal of parental consent and notification laws, and “gender-affirming care,” has previously acknowledged the existence of virginity but has considered it a “concept” for years."

SDA Issues - Italian Church Loses Sight of Mission

It is time for thee, Lord to work; for they have made void thy law. Psalm 119:126

"An ecumenical vigil for peace took place in Italy to celebrate the 2024 Week of Christian Unity, in which Roman Catholics, Orthodox, and Seventh-day Adventists participated.
This news was published on January 26, 2024, by Corriere Cesenate, the weekly information magazine for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cesena-Sarsina.
The Catholic publication stated that the sole purpose of this gathering was for “Christians” to “return to being one flock according to the will of the Lord.”
A local secular newspaper in Italy also reported on this ecumenical encounter and said that the leaders of five churches—Roman Catholic, Ukrainian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Romanian Orthodox, and Seventh-day Adventist—had signed a “unity of purpose” document to “counteract” the forces of “division” and to take “concrete” steps towards “peace.”
This is creating an identity crisis in Adventism,
and many have lost sight of what we are supposed
to be doing at this critical time in earth’s history."

Creation Moment 1/29/2024 - WAIR in the world did Ken come up with this?

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh:
Psalm 2:4
"In 2003, Ken Dial in Montana watched partridge chicks running up aslope, holding out their tiny wings to the sides as they ran. He built a whole new just-so story out of this he called WAIR—”Wing-assisted incline running.”
This, he claimed was how flight evolved. Pre-bird dinosaurs (that he did not observe) might have held out their non-flying arms like these living birds do today. The arms might have served as stabilizers for dinosaurs wishing to fly. These arms later got co-opted into wings, and powered flight was born!"

One Night of Imbibing on Wine - Centuries of Death Unleashed

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging:
and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
Proverbs 20:1

One night of Imbibing on Wine, while sailing a ship, led to centuries
of bloodshed---pain, suffering and death. As a result the heir to the throne died. This led to a civil war known as "The Anarchy".
The results of that would lead to the expansion of Anglo-Norman holdings in France which led to the Hundred Years War.
All because of one night with the Wine Bottle.
The Lesson: When you hear people whine about "where is God" in the suffering and death on the pages of history---we do it to ourselves.

"The greatest twelfth century English historian, William of Malmesbury, wrote: ‘No Ship that ever sailed brought England such Disaster,’ and that assessment of the scale of the tragedy, remarkably, stands to this day.

It was the passenger list of the White Ship that made its loss so
uniquely awful. Apart from Henry I’s only legitimate son,
William Ætheling, it included two of the king’s natural children, the cream of the Anglo-Norman aristocracy (including eighteen ladies with the rank of countess or above), several of the great generals who had finally brought England complete victory over France, as well as the bureaucrats who controlled Henry’s strict, effective, royal governance.

Only one man – perhaps the humblest passenger aboard – survived the violent end of the White Ship: he was Berold, a butcher from Rouen who found a place aboard in order to pursue high-ranking debtors as they set off for England. The medieval butcher thus became eyewitness to one of history’s most terrible events.

The White Ship was a newly refitted vessel captained by Thomas FitzStephen, whose father Stephen FitzAirard had been captain of the ship Mora for William the Conqueror during the Norman conquest of England in 1066.
Thomas offered his ship to Henry I of England to return to England from Barfleur in Normandy. Henry had already made other arrangements, but allowed many in his retinue to take the White Ship, including his heir, William Adelin, his illegitimate children Richard of Lincoln and Marie FitzRoy, Countess of Perche, and many other nobles.

According to chronicler Orderic Vitalis, the crew asked William
Adelin
for wine and he supplied it to them in great abundance. By the time the ship was ready to leave there were about 300 people on board, although some, including the future king Stephen of Blois, had disembarked due to the excessive drinking before the ship sailed.

The ship's captain, Thomas FitzStephen, was ordered by the revellers to overtake the king's ship, which had already sailed. The White Ship was fast, of the best construction and had recently been fitted with new materials, which made the captain and crew confident they could reach England first. Aboard were some 300 people including many members of the Anglo-Norman nobility, celebrating victory over the French after four years of war with copious amounts of wine. They were eager to race King Henry I, who had already departed on his own ship, back to Southampton.

White Ship was propelled by oarsmen rendered drunk by the inebriated passengers, who had plied the crew with huge quantities of wine. The ship left Barfleur at a fierce pace, a little before midnight on 25 November 1120. The sea was calm, the wind set fair, but the captain – another whose brain was addled by alcohol – dropped the mainsail too soon; before he was clear of the rocky coast. The helmsman, clearly confused by the rare speed of his vessel, and also drunk, miscalculated, and steered the White Ship into the great danger a mile out at sea: the QuillebÅ“uf Rock. This giant, jagged, menace was hidden at high tide and now claimed its greatest victim.

The QuillebÅ“uf staved in the White Ship’s wooden planks. Water started pouring in even faster after the crew tried to push the vessel clear again, with their long pikes. This simply opened up the gash in the ship’s side even more.

Those aboard began to cascade into the frozen water, gasping in shock at the cold. In an age when almost nobody could swim, and when the
sea was a mysterious place believed to be filled with terrifying creatures, the sound of panic rang out in the frigid air.
The worst thing I can remember were the screams,’ Titanic survivor Eva Hart recalled of that famous sinking, 800 years after the White Ship’s fatal voyage. Hart noted that they were so awful as to be impossible to describe. It must have been the same for those witnessing the final cries of those who drowned in the water off Barfleur – the ghastly din of despair, from those being tugged at, with increasing insistence, by Death.

There was just one small lifeboat on the White Ship. The royal bodyguards commandeered it, and bundled William Ætheling aboard, intent on rowing the royal heir to safety.

*But as they made for shore, the prince heard one shout that rang out above the others. It came from his half-sister, Margaret, Countess of Perche. She pleaded with her brother to turn back to save her, while
also insulting him for being so despicable as to leave her to drown.

The prince ordered his men to steer the lifeboat back to the stricken ship, to retrieve her. But this was a disastrous decision. Those struggling for life in the water threw their arms up over the sides of the small boat and tried to clamber aboard. There were so many, Berold would recall, that their weight took the lifeboat down, along with the prince. The butcher was found by fishermen the following morning, drifting on a piece of broken mast, just conscious and able to tell of what he had seen.

Nobody rushed to inform the king: Henry I was known to be utterly ruthless, and at the same time he famously adored his children.

William the Conqueror’s youngest son, Henry had risen from the relative obscurity of being a royal younger son, to becoming king of England and Duke of Normandy, as his father had once been. Henry had seized the English crown in August 1100, leaving his elder brother William Rufus to stiffen in death on the floor of the New Forest – the victim of a stray arrow on a hunting trip.

Meanwhile, six years later, he had attacked his eldest brother, Robert Curthose, at Tinchebray in Normandy. Curthose was defeated, captured and committed to prison in Cardiff Castle, where he remained for the remainder of his life, eventually writing poetry and learning Welsh.

Henry, meanwhile, had proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Insistent that the nation’s coins were his personal property, and that adulterating them equated to treason, he promised dire consequences for those minters who abused his confidence. Those found guilty of tampering with the coins’ quality were dealt with viciously: they were castrated, and their right hands were lopped off.

Eventually one of the king’s nephews persuaded a page boy to tell Henry I of the terrible news. Henry bellowed in disbelief, before falling to the floor, screaming. It is said he never smiled again, during the final fifteen years of his reign. Certainly, in the aftermath of the loss of the White Ship – and of the king’s dreams and aspirations – the court was plunged into gloom.

It was a period of such profound mourning that many in the royal orbit found time to reflect: on their own mortality, on their past conduct, and on their most profound beliefs.

The sinking altered the course of English history. Henry was the son of William the Conqueror, and after his death civil war broke out between his appointed successor, another daughter also named Matilda, and his nephew Stephen of Blois.

This conflict, “the Anarchy”, continued for 20 years until Matilda’s son took the throne in 1135 as Henry II.

An Elite Authoritarianism

“The freedom that once was founded on a Biblical consensus and a
Christian ethos has now become autonomous freedom, cut loose from all constraints.
Here we have the world spirit of our age — autonomous Man setting himself up as God, in defiance of the knowledge and the moral and spiritual truth which God has given

---Here is the reason why we have a moral breakdown in every area of life.
---The titanic freedoms which we once enjoyed have been cut loose from their Christian restraints and are becoming a force of destruction leading to chaos.
---And when this happens, there really are very few alternatives.
 All morality becomes relative
law becomes arbitrary
and society moves toward disintegration

In personal and social life, compassion is swallowed up by self-interest. At this point, the words ‘right’ and ‘left’ will make little difference. They are only two roads to the same end; the results are the same.
---An elite, authoritarianism as such, will gradually force form on society, so that it will not go into chaos — and most people would accept it.” (The Great Evangelical Disaster, pp. 22, 23, Francis A. Schaeffer, Crossway Books, Westchester, Illinois, 1984).

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty;
only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh,
but by love serve one another.

A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely

Coercion may make Martyrs, but never Proselytes

“All history, and particularly those of religions, teaches that

IN the NEWS - "St. Paul's" vs. Gen. 5:2

Male and female created He them;
Genesis 5:2

"The latest example of parents becoming infuriated with diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI being injected into the education curriculum, comes from an elite private school in Baltimore County, Maryland.

Project Veritas posted on X this week that St. Paul's, a private school that charges $38,000 or more per year, issued a questionnaire to 5th-grade boys, asking if they were "Cisgender" or "Transgender" or "Gender Non-Conforming" or "Agender."

A parent at the school provided us with an internal memo from Patrick Walsh, Middle School Dean of Students, who told teachers: "We will not apologize" for being woke.

Last April, another elite private school down the street from St. Paul's, called Gilman, went full-woke tard with the "Day of Dialogue" to enrich their students about "LGBTQ connections in our curriculum."

The Kaibab Upwarp

And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth;
Genesis 7:18

"The traditional explanation for the formation of Grand Canyon is that the Colorado River carved it out over the course of millions of years. A weakness of this theory is that the Colorado would have had to flow uphill over the Kaibab Upwarp, and our experience with rivers is that they tend to flow downhill, following the course of least resistance.

Current creationist thinking about the formation of
Grand Canyon is that it was formed catastrophically, in a very short period of time, by water from several massive inland lakes combining to breach a weak point in the Kaibab Upwarp and scour out the canyon. This probably occurred not during the Genesis Flood but within the first few centuries thereafter.

This fits with the larger creationist model, which holds that rapid tectonic activity during the later stages of the
Genesis Flood, particularly the formation of new seafloor, warmed the oceans, leading to much greater oceanic evaporation and hence much greater precipitation.
The rapid tectonic activity also ejected aerosols, dust, and ash into the atmosphere, creating the cooler summer conditions necessary for the build up of glaciers during a post-Flood Ice Age.

Creationists point to these large historic lakes in the area—including Hopi Lake and Canyonlands Lake—to provide the water needed to scour out Grand Canyon
Today, these areas are dry and arid, but during the first few centuries after the Flood these areas saw much greater precipitation. Just as in northern climes, glaciers built up during a post-Flood Ice Age, so these inland lakes continued to fill until they broke through their natural dams and barriers, and carved out Grand Canyon." SDA Issues - Crosswalk Church walks away from God

Have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness,
but rather expose them.

Ephesians 5:11

"The Crosswalk Church in Chattanooga is hosting a retreat with Richard Rohr, a well-known Roman Catholic spiritualist priest and
social justice proponent who refers to himself as a Christian Buddhist.
Rohr personally met with Pope Francis in 2022, who told him to keep teaching his conscious-changing contemplative prayer.
This is entry level occult mysticism.
Among the things that Richard Rohr will be teaching at the Chattanooga Seventh-day Adventist Crosswalk church is how to connect with contemplative archetypal magic and the “dark side” of mystical spirituality.
Apparently it takes some time to lead vulnerable young Adventists into the dark side of mystical spirituality—the course will last twelve weeks (that’s three months, for those in La Sierra)."

Creation Moment 1/28/2024 -Robopteryx

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh:
Psalm 2:4

"South Korean evolutionists get the gong for this one.
They’re saying that dinosaurs evolved wings to shoo insects. They even built a robot to prove it: their invention “Robopteryx,” with a simplistic dinosaur head, raises wing-like arms with paddles for hands that come down in front of itself.
In a video demonstration, the wobbly arms scared a grasshopper they had placed on the ground to jump away. This must have been what pre-birds did with their forelimbs, the Darwin storytellers imagined. Evolution, having covered these arms with imaginary feathers, co-opted the insect-shooing arms into feather dusters. The pre-birds discovered other uses for the feather dusters, including wings. Powered flight was on its way, thanks to Darwin!"

IN the NEWS - TIME goes all Blue Law

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: Exodus 20:10

"The Puritans were English Protestants seeking to “purify” the Church, and they were responsible for the blue laws in the American colonies.

Time Magazine would like to take us back to those days. The best scenario, of all the ones they can imagine, is to go back to the times when rest was required by law. On January 25, 2023, Time Magazine published an article titled “Rest Takes Hard Work” that spoke about the decline of rest in America. And what is their solution? They claim that we need to take rest seriously, just like the Puritans did by instituting “deliberate” rest.

The article said, in part:
Whether it’s breaks during the day, hobbies that take our mind off
work, weekly sabbaths or annual vacations, routines that layer periods of work and rest help us be more productive, have more sustainable careers, and enjoy richer and more meaningful lives.

Americans has long been known for our industry and ambition, but until recently, we also recognized the value of rest. The Puritans had a famously strict work ethic, but they also took their Sundays very seriously.
Post-Civil War … union organizers, mass media and entertainment, and the parks movement democratized leisure: rest became a right, enshrined as much in college sports and penny arcades as in labor law.
These sources paint a vision of American life in which work and leisure are partners in a good life.”
But in recent decades, the world turned against rest. Globalization, the decline of unions, and the rise of gig work are factors that have created an environment in which people and companies feel compelled to work constantly.”
People in high-stress, unpredictable jobs can’t depend on such routines.”

Q: How long before blue laws are passed to establish designated periods of rest and recuperation for our overworked society?" AdventMessenger

Creation Moment 1/27/2024 - They saw Rom. 1:20 in Action

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Romans 1:20

“Nevertheless, many of the founders of modern science did not just
assume or assert by faith that the universe had been designed by an intelligent agent. They also argued for this hypothesis based on discoveries in their fields of study.
Johannes Kepler perceived intelligent design in the mathematical precision of planetary motion … .
Robert Boyle insisted that the intricate clocklike regularity of physical laws and chemical mechanisms as well as the anatomical structure in living organisms suggested the activity of ‘a most intelligent and designing agent’
Carl Linnaeus later argued for design based upon the ease with which plants and animals fell into an orderly groups-within-groups system of classification … .
The tradition attained an almost majestic rhetorical quality in the writings of Newton”

IN the NEWS - Washington Post Calls for Sunday Sacredness

These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
Revelation 17:13

"The Washington Post is now pushing for a revival of the Sabbath in connection with climate change in an effort to sway American politics on the Sunday law issue. They also cite Pope Francis’s reference to “Sunday” in Laudato Si’ as part of the justification for their action.

On January 23, 2024, The Washington Post published an article called “Why Reviving a 2,600-year-old Spiritual Practice Made My Life Better.” Below, we have published a large portion of the original article.

For many, it’s virtually impossible to set aside an entire day for rest free from responsibilities to work and family.”
A shared day of rest, at a minimum, might slow the pace of
consumption, curb emissions or ease the burden of so many people working weary weekends. But slowing down, even for a day, may also be at the heart of a cultural change convincing society that a more sustainable way of life is not only good for the planet, it’s good for them
.”

Here’s how a green Sabbath may be the right idea for one’s soul, and the world.”
The human yearning for a weekly respite dates back at least 2,600 years. The concept appears in Christianity and Islam, both of which set aside weekly days for ritual, as well as Buddhism’s uposatha days and Japan’s roku sainichi, among others.”
Pope Francis argued much the same about Christianity’s Sunday in his 2015 Laudato Si‘, an encyclical about caring for the natural world. Not resting is not just bad for the soul, he says, it’s bad for the Earth. The constant drive to produce and consume more is not only squandering natural resources, it prevents us from treating the living world, and one another, with dignity and respect. The Sabbath forces us to consider how we spend all our days.”
Sunday, like the Jewish Sabbath, is meant to be a day which heals our relationships with God, with ourselves, with others and with the world.” (Laudato Si’ #237
Sunday restrictions were once common across the United States. Sometimes known as Blue Laws, these prohibited everything from liquor sales to hunting to opening shops. Intended in part to encourage Sunday church attendance, the U.S. Supreme Court declared in 1884 these also served a vital social mission to “protect all persons from the physical and moral debasement which comes from uninterrupted labor”
The decision was reaffirmed by the court in decisions during the 1960s: ‘Sunday is a day apart from all others,’ wrote Chief Justice Earl Warren in one.”
Over time, however, this rationale has fallen out of favor.”
That’s not just because of the decline of religiosity in America. ‘The primary motivation has been economic,’ writes political scientist Sara Zeigler. ‘With increased competition and people on the move around the clock, many businesses cannot afford to lose a full day’s revenues by remaining closed on Sunday.”
In 2019, Schorsch founded the Green Sabbath Project to incite a mass movement to observe a weekly day of rest’ for the secular and religious alike.”
The immediate effect among millions of people, he calculates, could dial back emissions for at least one day a week with no new technology or spending. But the practice of doing nothing, he argues, can make people change the way they live year-round not just on the Sabbath, by appealing to an ancient human ritual, rather than reason or even religion.”
Many are taking incremental steps toward an ancient wisdom, by observing a technology Shabbat, eschewing screens for 24 hours. Mexico City and Bogotá are handing over their streets to tens of thousands of bicyclists and pedestrians every Sunday. In Bergen County, N.J., a Zip code boasting more retail sales than any other in the United States thanks to its four massive malls, residents have reaffirmed Sunday laws banning many retail sales, on the grounds of a healthier community.
Schorsch is now hoping to find more communities willing to undertake this radical experiment in time together. ‘Ultimately, as a society, we’re going to need to have ecological practices,’ he says. ‘It’s not enough to impose laws. Do we solve [climate change] through technocratic solutions and policy, or do we solve it through new cultural, even spiritual approaches? One without the other is not going to be enough‘.”

With the climate agenda hitting a fever pitch in society and as globalists are making their pitch to save the world from the climate apocalypse at the World Economic Forum, the Washington Post has just published an article building a religious and secular case for “reviving” a day of rest to combat the climate crisis.
By linking Sunday rest to the so-called existential climate threat, this has become one of the boldest calls for reinstating the blue laws. The global climate crusade is not slowing down but actually aligning all parties together on the Sunday question."
