CHRISTENDOM Series: Restorationist

(Mainline Protestant/Evangelical Protestant)

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Psalm 133:1

Reconstructionist Churches were started to find common ground between Christians among Protestants, but leave up details of minor issues & beliefs to each believer.

Church of the United Brethren - 1800, headquartered today in Huntington, Indiana, it began as a movement between Mennonite (Anabaptist) & German Reformed (Calvinist) ministers in 1767. It was an attempt to find common ground between Christians in the new world. They are Arminian in soteriology. {a liberal faction split off in the late 1800's, joined the Evangelical another to form the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which then joined the Methodist to become the United Methodist}. About 25,000 members.
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) - 1832, Emerged from the cane Ridge revival in Kentucky as part of the Stone-Campbell movement. One thing they wanted was to remove all denominational labels. They use a congregational form of church governance, but were influenced
by Calvinism. But although many came from a mainline background, they quickly switched to baptism by immersion. The church became official with the handshake between the leader of 2 separate movements. Some congregations use the name "Christian Church" others the "Disciples of Christ" Church. It has become a very theological liberal church over the years, including allowing for theistic evolution, women ordination and gay marriage. (But not all members agree with their liberalism). About 600,000 members.
United Christian Church - 1878, split from the United Brethren in opposition to infant baptism & the United Christian Church adopted the ordinance of foot washing. About 700 members.
Christian and Missionary Alliance - 1887, founded as an attempt to gather evangelicals & holiness movement people into a worldwide, unified Christian movement to evangelize the world for the end. About 400,000 members.

Churches of Christ - 1906, a conservative split from the Disciples of Christ Church in opposition to the use of musical instruments and the growing modernism (theological liberalism) in the parent church. About 43,000 members.
Missionary Church - 1969, headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, it was the merger of smaller Mennonite (Anabaptist) churches & Holiness Churches rooted in Wesleyan teachings. About 200,000 members.

Creation Moment 6/30/2015 - In your Dreams

"From the 1960s to the 1980s, space probes returned the first
close-up looks at eight of the then-nine planets. To researchers expecting a simple story that would explain what shaped our solar system, the observations sent a sobering message: in your dreams. Today, enigmas such as Mercury's makeup (mostly iron core, with a thin veneer of rock) and Uranus's skewed magnetic field continue to bedevil planetary scientists, and no tidy resolution is in sight." — Richard A. Kerr, Science Magazine, June 1, 2012

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?

When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

IN the NEWS - Economic Crises Coming???

The world is defenceless against the next financial crisis, warns BIS

"The world will be unable to fight the next global financial crash as central banks have used up their ammunition trying to tackle the last crises, the Bank of International Settlements has warned.

The so-called central bank of central banks launched a scatching critique of global monetary policy in its annual report. The BIS claimed that central banks have backed themselves into a corner after repeatedly cutting interest rates to shore up their economies.

Rather than just reflecting the current weakness, they may in part have contributed to it by fuelling costly financial booms and busts and delaying adjustment. The result is too much debt, too little growth and too low interest rates."

The decline of bond yields into negative territory is the "most unusual development" of the last year."

Greece crisis deepens as banks close for a week after weekend that shook euro

"Greece’s government says banks will stay closed until after snap referendum, while stock exchange
shut on Monday and cash machine withdrawals limited to €60.

In a brief, televised address to the nation, Tsipras threw the blame onto the leaders of the eurozone. But he did not say how long the banks would remain shut, nor did he give details of how much individuals and companies would be allowed to withdraw once they reopened.

As fears spread through Sunday that capital controls would need to be put in place, growing numbers of depositors lined up at ATMs, even in affluent city areas, to withdraw what cash they could.

Drivers also flocked to gas stations across Greece, prompting the country’s largest refiner to issue a statement reassuring there are enough reserves. Refiner Hellenic Petroleum said: “We maintain fuel reserves for several months. The supply of our refineries with crude oil is also assured.”" Guardian

....and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: Daniel 12:1....Is it coming now? Who knows?

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
and have not LOVE,
I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy,
and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge;
and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
and have not LOVE, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor,
and though I give my body to be burned,
and have not LOVE, it profiteth me nothing.
And now abideth faith, hope, LOVE, these three;

but the greatest of these is LOVE.

For I am persuaded,
that neither death,
nor life,
nor angels, nor principalities,
nor powers, nor things present,
nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth,
nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation in your growing knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,...

CHRISTENDOM Series: Anabaptist / Brethren

(Mainline Protestant / Anabaptist)

Greet ye one another with an holy kiss. 1 Corinthians 16:20

Brethren began in 1708 by Alexander Mack in Germany. They were influenced by Mennonite Anabaptists of whom they lived among for awhile before coming to America. They were nicknamed "dunkards"-for dunking by immersion in baptism. They were big on the holy kiss for greetings.

---3 Main groups---
In the late 1800's they split into 3 basic groups -
Brethren Church - 1883, the "progressive" wing, which advocated for missionary work,
giving up their distinctive dress styles, & started Sunday schools. Over the years they have become theologically liberal modernists. Began in Dayton, Ohio. About 6,000 members.
Church of the Brethren - they considered themselves the "moderates" during the split, mostly led by leaders from the Miami Valley of Ohio. They preferred at the time the simple, but less strict lifestyle, and holding to the traditional teachings. Their opposition military service began to wane by WW2. Today they no longer wear
distinctive styles of dress & allow individual congregations to set doctrines. As a result some congregations now go against church policy, such as gay clergy. Major emphasis is a "love
feast" on Maundy Thursday. About 122,000 members.
Old German Baptist Brethren - 1882, split to continue focus on lifestyle (similar to how Amish live-but many will use electricity or drive vehicles). They are Arminian, believe in the secret rapture and engage in foot washing services. About 6,000 members.

Seventh Day German Baptist Church - 1814, merger of several groups. Followers of Brethren doctrine who rediscovered the 7th day Sabbath. Also was the first vegetarian group motivated by Christianity in the new world.
Only 2 congregations left.
Old Order German Baptist Brethren  - 1921, split form the Old German Baptist Brethren in opposition to the use of automobiles. But will use tractors for farming. About 100 members.
Dunkard Brethren - 1926, split from the Church of the Brethren for doctrinal purity. About 900 members.
Grace Brethren - 1939, split from the Brethren Church as a more conservative faction of it. They wanted to stress eternal security (once-saved-always-saved)
pushing the eschatology of dispensational pre-millennialism (secret rapture) and did not want Ashland College to become a secular college.
Old Brethren - 1939, split from the Old German Baptist Brethren in opposition to them starting to use electricity for lights and the use of automobiles & telephones. About 100 members.
Old Brethren German Baptists - 1939, split from the Old Brethren over the use of alcohol & tobacco. (they reject it). About 100 members.
Conservative Grace Brethren - 1992, split from the Grace Brethren as a more conservative faction which wanted to hold to creationism, the secret rapture, and eternal torment of
the state of the dead.
Old German Baptist Brethren, New Conference - 2009, the main reason for splitting from the Old Order German Baptists was opposition to allowing information to be sent via emails & holding Bible studies outside the Sunday meeting times. About 2,000 members.

Creation Moment 6/29/2015 - Stop, Start & Codons

"The biochemical language of the genetic code uses short strings of three nucleotides (called codons) to symbolize commands -- including
start commands,
stop commands,
and codons
that signify each of the 20 amino acids used in life.

After the information in DNA is transcribed into mRNA, a series of codons in the mRNA molecule instructs the ribosome which amino acids are to be strung in which order to build a protein.

Translation works by using another type of RNA molecule called transfer RNA (tRNA). During translation, tRNA molecules ferry needed amino acids to the ribosome so the protein chain can be assembled.

Each tRNA molecule is linked to a single amino acid on one end, and at the other end exposes three nucleotides (called an anti-codon). At the ribosome, small free-floating pieces of tRNA bind to the mRNA. When the anti-codon on a tRNA molecule binds to matching
codons on the mRNA molecule at the ribosome, the amino acids are broken off the tRNA and linked up to build a protein.
For the genetic code to be translated properly, each tRNA molecule must be attached to the proper amino acid that corresponds to its anticodon as specified by the genetic code. If this critical step does not occur, then the language of the genetic code breaks down, and there is no way to convert the information in DNA into properly ordered proteins. So how do tRNA molecules become attached to the right amino acid?

Cells use special proteins called aminoacyl tRNA synthetase (aaRS) enzymes to attach tRNA molecules to the "proper" amino acid under the language of the genetic code. Most cells use 20 different aaRS enzymes, one for each amino acid used in life. These aaRS enzymes are key to ensuring that the genetic code is correctly interpreted in the cell.

Yet these aaRS enzymes themselves are encoded by the genes in the DNA. This forms the essence of a "chicken-egg problem": aaRS enzymes themselves are necessary to perform the very task that constructs them.
How could such an integrated, language-based system arise in a step-by-step fashion? If any component is missing, the genetic information cannot be converted into proteins, and the message is lost. The RNA world is unsatisfactory because it provides no explanation for how the key step of the genetic code -- linking amino acids to the correct tRNA -- could have arisen."
Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him?

Footsteps of Paul: Thee End

For I am now ready to be offered,
and the time of my departure is at hand.

I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day:
and not to me only,
but unto all them also that love his appearing.
2 Timothy 4:6-8
"*Ransomed by the sacrifice of Christ,
*washed from sin in His blood,
and *clothed in His righteousness,
Paul has the witness in himself that his soul is precious in the sight of his Redeemer.

The apostle was looking into the great beyond,
not with uncertainty or dread,
but with joyous hope and longing expectation.

As he stands at the place of martyrdom
he sees not the sword of the executioner
or the earth so soon to receive his blood;
he looks up through the calm blue heaven of that summer day to the throne of the Eternal.
This man of faith beholds the ladder of Jacob's vision, representing Christ,
who has connected earth with heaven, and finite man with the infinite God."
Acts of the Apostles p.511,512 E.G.W.

"According to The People's Chronology, Paul was beheaded with a sword near Rome, possibly on  June 29, 67. Paul's death has been variously placed between 62 and 67. We shall probably never know for sure."

CHRISTENDOM Series: Anabaptists / Apostolic Christian Church

Apostolic Christian Church
(Mainline Protestant / Anabaptist / Mennonite)

Beware of false prophets,
Matthew 7:15

Began with the conversion experience of Samuel Heinrich Froehlich in the 1830's, with the first Church in America in 1847. At first, they were nicknamed the "New Amish". He felt the Mennonites were becoming spiritually stale and needed revival. A fight with church leaders over the newer or older Heidelberg catechism led to his being kicked out of the church.
This was the start of his new movement. He taught that the persecution he underwent was part of the tribulation of Revelation.

---Main Church---
Apostolic Christian Church of America - Singing in church is in accapella, women are required to wear head coverings during worship, baptism is by immersion & men greet each other with a holy kiss. They also do public prayer with "thee" & "thou" when addressing God. About 13,000 members.

German Apostolic Christian Church - 1932, separated in response to a letter sent by leaders in Europe who lamented that the American branch was not following truth. These do their service in German. About 100 members.
Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarean) - split to be allied with the European branch of the Church. About 2,000 members.
Nazarene Christian Congregation - split off in 1940's from the Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarean) over disputes about what to do with the church over in Yugoslavia in response to communism there.
Christian Apostolic Church - 1955, a more conservative faction of the German Apostolic Christian Church who split off.
Apostolic Christian Faith Church - 2012, withdrew from the Apostolic Christian Church of America because of growing theological liberalism. About 1,000 members.

Creation Moment 6/28/2015 - Let Me Answer That 4 ya

"There’s something about our solar system that appears to be
unusual. For some reason, most of our bigger planets are far away from our host star, while closer in are smaller, rocky worlds, including Earth itself. This is not the case for many extrasolar systems that have been discovered. So-called “hot Jupiters” — huge gas giant planets that nestle close to their star — have been found in a few examples. In other instances, planets slightly bigger than Earth are so close to their stars as to be uninhabitable. Did our solar system once look like this, or did it start out somewhat differently?" CHRISTENDOM Series: Anabaptists / Hutterites

(Mainline Protestant/Anabaptist)

And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
Acts 2:44

Hutterites are named for Jakob Hutter. They originated in Austria during the "radical reformation" phase. Then moved around because of persecution.
They base their main beliefs on Acts 2:44 & the book of 2 Corinthians. They believe in 100% pacifism & refuse to pay war taxes. They were influenced by Russian Mennonites whom they lived among for awhile. They are based on a communal lifestyle. Communes, which Hutterites refer to as colonies, are headed at the top by a council of  bishops.
There are 3 subgroups of Hutterites. The differences are over technicalities in governing structure & dress. But doctrine is the same.----the Schmiedeleut, the Dariusleut and the Lehrerleut.
The Schmiedeleut fractured in the 1990's---One group is called the 'oilers', because of an issue over
an oil well. The other is the Prairieleut, who then defected and joined the Mennonites.
Hutterites wear colorful clothes-which make them stand out from the Amish.
Hutterites attend a half hour church service almost every day and a one & a half hour Sunday service. All money is held by the community. (No private bank accounts). But they do use electricity and some have cell phones and internet.
Early Anabaptist leaders, who the Hutterites trace their core doctrinal roots to, were Conrad Grebel,
Felix Manz, and Georg Blaurock. In a letter to Thomas Münzer, Grebel emphasized that (a) God and not the Pope is the final authority in matters of faith, (b) the faithful must not take up the sword for their own defense or that of others (as it is the case with the Catholics and the Protestants), (c) only human beings who had made a personal decision for a Christian life should be baptized--and this decision only adults can make. Therefore, the baptism of adults is the only correct one. Jakob Hutter himself was burned by the Catholic Church in 1539. Their hymns Älteste Chronik and the Martyr's Mirror tell of some of these happenings.
"Critics" have accused Hutterites of salvation by the works of communal living. Also, because they believe only Hutterites will be saved. But most critics believe that Jakob Hutter was truly searching for God, but his followers have strayed over the years. Who knows?

"However where the government or power expects something beyond the order of God and its demands... such as taxes in war and similar things which contribute to the destruction of men, then... we must obey God more than man."
Jakob Hutter (ca.1535)
Grave of Joseph Hofer-sent to prison during WW1 for his pacifism & died from his beatings there.

CHRISTENDOM series Outline Link:

The Hutterites demanded an apology from National Geographic for a "documentary" / ("reality show") they produced about them.....
"King Ranch colony minister John Hofer, Bertha's brother in law, wrote a July 31 letter to National Geographic Society chairman and CEO John Fahey that "American Colony: Meet The Hutterites" was supposed to be a National Geographic Channel documentary about the German-speaking
agricultural community of Protestants in central Montana.
Instead, Hofer said, the producers turned it into a reality TV show that encouraged discord within the community by pitting generations against each other. Situations and story lines were invented and the people were told what to do and say while the camera was on, he said.
The result was an inaccurate depiction that has damaged the reputation of Hutterites everywhere, he said.
"We feel we were ambushed and publicly humiliated by the producers of Meet the Hutterites, and by the National Geographic Society," Hofer wrote in his letter to Fahey. "King Ranch Colony did not sign up for this sort of abuse."

ISIS Hits 3 Continents

1) FRANCE- A decapitated head, along with a flag in Arabic, has been
found following an attack on a factory in southeast France Friday in which an assailant also rammed a car into the premises, triggering an explosion.

  • French Interior Minister Bernard said one suspect, named as Yassin Sahli, had been arrested, and police were holding other suspected accomplices.
  • AFP reported that the decapitated man was the attacker's employer.
  • Sahli had been under surveillance from 2006 to 2008 on suspicion of having become radicalized.
  • 2) TUNISIA- Gunmen killed at least 37 people, including foreign tourists, spraying them with bullets
at a Tunisian beachside hotel in the popular resort of Sousse on Friday, "A terrorist infiltrated the buildings from the back before opening fire on the residents of the hotel, including foreigners and Tunisians," Aroui said.

    3) KUWAIT - A suicide bomber blew himself up at a mosque in Kuwait on Friday, killing at least 25 people and injuring scores of
others, the interior ministry said in a statement carried by state news agency KUNA.

Papal Notes - Vatican signing "treaties"?

Vatican signs treaty with 'State of Palestine'

"The Vatican signed its first treaty with “the State of Palestine” on Friday.
Vatican Foreign Minister Paul Gallagher and his Palestinian counterpart, Riad al-Maliki, placed their signatures on the agreement in the Vatican, according to The Associated Press.
The pact affirms that the Vatican legally recognizes Palestine’s existence as an independent state and in exchange will receive authority over the Catholic Church in Palestine." TheHill

IN the NEWS - Shaking Fist at GOD: America

Supreme Court Rules Same-Sex Couples Have Right To Marry Nationwide

(the moment America raised it's FIST at God)

" The Supreme Court declared Friday that same-sex couples have a right to marry anywhere in the United States.
Gay and lesbian couples already could marry in 36 states and the District of Columbia. The court’s 5-4 ruling means the remaining 14 states, in the South and Midwest, will have to stop enforcing their bans on same-sex marriage.
Gay rights supporters cheered, danced and wept outside the court when the decision was announced.
The outcome is the culmination of two decades of Supreme Court litigation over marriage, and gay rights generally.

Kennedy was joined by the four liberal justices of the court: Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Stephen Breyer.

Chief Justice John Roberts, along with Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas dissented, and all wrote separate dissents.

Scalia wrote his dissent “to call attention to this Court’s threat to American democracy.”
Today’s decree says that my Ruler, and the Ruler of 320 million Americans coast-to-coast, is a
majority of the nine lawyers on the Supreme Court. The opinion in these cases is the furthest extension in fact—and the furthest extension one can even imagine—of the Court’s claimed power to create “liberties” that the Constitution and its Amendments neglect to mention. This practice of constitutional revision by an unelected committee of nine, always accompanied (as it is today) by extravagant praise of liberty, robs the People of the most important liberty they asserted in the Declaration of Independence and won in the Revolution of 1776: the freedom to govern themselves
    ,” Scalia wrote.

President Barack Obama called the ruling a “big step in our march toward equality.”

In a statement in the Rose Garden, Obama said that justice arrived like a thunderbolt.
This ruling is a victory for America,” Obama said.

Hey is another message that arrives like a thunderbolt: - Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; Luke 17:28

What was it like in those days of Lot in Sodom?

They shouted to Lot, "Where are the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!" Genesis 19:5 NLT

For they shake their fists at God,
    defying the Almighty.
    Job 15:25 NLT

    But his citizens hated him,

and sent a message after him,

We will not have this man to reign over us.
    Luke 19:14

Creation Moment 6/27/2015 - Neanderthal genes in a modern human skeleton is not what they had predicted

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
    Romans 1:22
"The headline reads: “Early modern humans interbred with Neanderthals: An early European had a close Neanderthal ancestor.”

DNA from a jawbone discovered in a Romanian cave has been sequenced. Finding 8 to 11 percent of Neanderthal DNA in this individual’s genome means that it had a Neanderthal ancestor as near as its great-great-grandparent. This strengthens the case that Neanderthals and modern humans are members of the same species. They produced fertile offspring, not sterile hybrids. Evidence for interbreeding between the two human “species” (Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis) now comes from a wide area stretching from western Siberia to Romania.

Here are some reactions from evolutionary anthropologists, as reported in the secular media:I could hardly believe it when we first saw the results” — Svante Pääbo from the Max Planck Institute
for Evolutionary Anthropology ... “The data from the jawbone imply that humans mixed with Neanderthals not just in the Middle East but in Europe as well.” (Ibid.) / “It’s an incredibly unexpected thing,” said Prof David Reich, a co-author of the paper from the Harvard Medical School. (BBC News) / "The large spans of Neanderthal-like segments in Oase 1’s genome indicate that one of his human ancestors interbred with a Neanderthal less than 200 years before he lived. (Live Science) In the past decade, the analysis of ancient DNA from fossil skeletons of anatomically modern humans has revealed a startling fact: some of our direct ancestors had sex with Neanderthals, producing fertile offspring. Prior to these genetic revelations, anthropological researchers were divided between those who firmly believed that such unions either did not occur, or that they could not have yielded sexually fertile offspring, because the differences between early modern humans and Neanderthal genomes would have been too great." (Scott Armstrong Elias in The Conversation).

These reactions show: (1) earlier evolutionary thinking about Neanderthals was wrong; (2) the data were not predicted; (3) the results were surprising and startling—even unbelievable. In science that usually amounts to falsification." CEH

    CHRISTENDOM Series: Anabaptist / Amish

    (Mainline Protestant/Anabaptist/Mennonite)
Wherefore come out from among them,
and be ye separate, saith the Lord,
and touch not the unclean thing; 2 Corinthians 6:17

The Amish began as a schism in 1693 among the Mennonites in Switzerland. The Amish were named after their leader, Jakob Ammann. They are much more stricter, and communal, than the Mennonites in their living standards. The Amish introduced foot washing as a ritual. Many Annabaptists are Amillennial on eschatology & Arminian in soteriology. Baptism is by the deacon pouring water into the hand of a bishop-who then sprinkles it 3 times on the head (for the Father, Son & Holy Spirit). Divorce is not permitted.
Most old order Amish speak Pennsylvania Dutch (a Swiss-German language dialect) except around Adams County, Indiana, where they speak Swiss German.
Amish buggies use black tops in Indiana & Ohio, gray tops in Pennsylvania & brown elsewhere.

    ---4 Main types of Amish---
Beachy Amish - they have no centralized structure, as a result, some groups differ in
characteristics. They participate in modern life for the most part. They no longer speak Pennsylvania Dutch. Moses Beachy, a bishop, was their founder, by allowing for the use of automobiles in 1927. in the late 20th century, they were caught up in a revivalist movement of tent preachers - and began to blend Amish, Mennonite & Evangelical Protestant thought.
New Order Amish - broke away from the Old Order Amish in the 1960's to form
Sunday Schools. But also to be more strict in the dating habits of the youth, which they thought the Amish in general were being to lax about. Some will use electricity.
Old Order Amish - reject electricity, modern living standards & dress, meet in houses for worship, hold worship services every other Sunday (the other Sunday is used for personal Bible study, etc.) and stop education at the 8th grade level. They have a publishing house in LaGrange, Indiana.
Swartzentruber Amish - split in 1917 from the Old Order Amish. They are very strict to the point of not even using gravel for their drive ways (too vain) so they have dirt drives. Also refuse to use orange triangles on their buggies (of which both the horse & buggy have to be all black to avoid standing out).

    ---other little splinter groups---
