Puritan Corner - God's....

"Having given up ourselves to God, let us comfort our souls that God is our God. When riches, and men, and our lives fail, yet God is ours. We are now God’s Davids, God’s Pauls, God’s Abrahams."
by Richard Sibbes (1577–1635)

So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper,
and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Hebrews 13:6

Ice Age & Babel

"There seems to be a clear explanation for the Ice Age, one that may answer the mystery of post-Flood animal migration. The Bible tells us that after the Flood humans stayed near the Tower of Babel for several generations, disobeying God’s command to fill the earth. Meanwhile, the animals on the Ark had already fulfilled God’s command to “abound on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply.” But just how did the animals, and the large mammals in particular, get to the individual continents after the floodwaters receded?

The answer seems to be land bridges. Dry land migration routes could have
facilitated the movement of large animals from the Ark to remote continents. The Ice Age after the Flood provided just such an opportunity. Water stored in massive ice sheets would have temporarily lowered sea levels by 200 to 280 feet below today’s level. The resulting land bridges would have made pathways for animals to simply walk to the major continents.

The timing of the Ice Age was no accident. Michael Oard calculated that the glacial maximum and the simultaneous maximum drop in sea level could have been achieved within 500 years after the Flood from high ocean temperatures and a late- Flood and post-Flood period of intense volcanic activity. This timing coincides nicely with the “division” of the earth that occurred during the days of Peleg.

Oard also calculated that the ice causing the Ice Age could rapidly melt away. He estimated that it probably took less than 200 years to completely melt back the continental ice sheets. Exactly how long the ice sheets endured after their formation is unknown. Once the ice melted, the sea level would have immediately risen, flooding the land bridges and closing this opportunity for intercontinental migration.

After the Flood, mankind remained in the Middle East at “a plain in the land of Shinar,” building the Tower of Babel. This was in direct disobedience to God’s post-Flood command to “be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.” God had to divide and scatter the people by confounding their languages
so that they would not miss the temporary land bridge opportunity for migration. God’s timing was perfect, since it may have taken several generations for humans to migrate to the Bering Sea land bridge from central Asia.

The lowering of sea levels and the creation of land bridges was necessary to provide migration pathways for large animals and humans. Maximum ice volume was achieved at the same time migration pathways were needed to travel from the Ark’s landing site to distant continents that are now separated by water. After the oceans had cooled sufficiently and the volcanic activity began to wane, the ice sheets quickly melted and the land bridges disappeared beneath the rising ocean waters, effectively ending the migration. God likely used this narrow window to scatter humans and animals across the globe, effectively repopulating the earth after the Flood’s destruction." ICR

And it came to pass,
as they journeyed from the east,
that they found a plain in the land of Shinar;
and they dwelt there.

Mars vs. Earth Flood

MARS

"NASA’s press statement makes it seem that scientists have certain evidence of flowing water. They do not. What they have is chemical evidence that gives a strong suggestion of liquid water mixed with salts." Quartz 9/15

EARTH

"Ironically, most geologists believe Mars once had massive floods. If a planet with no known liquid water can have a flood of biblical proportions, then it should not be hard to accept that our blue planet, 70% covered in water and possibly containing far more water locked in the mantle, could have had a global Flood." "Human eyes are capable of detecting a single photon — the tiniest possible speck of light — new research suggests.
Researchers also found that the human eye is more sensitive to single photons shortly after it has seen another photon. This was “an unexpected phenomenon that we just discovered when we analyzed the data,” says physicist Alipasha Vaziri.
Additionally, the data indicate that single photons may be able to prime the brain to detect more dim flashes that follow. When participants had seen another photon in the preceding 10 seconds, they had better luck picking out the photon.
Scientists hope to use the technique to test whether humans can directly observe quantum weirdness. Photons can be in two places at once, a state known as a quantum superposition.
Vaziri says, “If you are somewhere outside of a city in nature and on a moonless night and you have only stars to navigate, on average the number of photons that get into your eye is approaching the single photon regime.” So, he says, having eyes sensitive enough to see single photons may have some evolutionary advantage." ARCHAEOLOGY: State of the Dead

And the serpent said unto the woman,
Ye shall not surely die:
Genesis 3:4

"When researchers grew concerned about underground anomalies
detected near the Mayan ruins of Palenque in Mexico, they began a dig to figure out whether the pyramid was in danger of collapse.
This week, researchers announced that what they found was no anomaly but rather a small canal system, reports the AP. They now think the tomb of the ancient ruler Pakal was built atop a natural spring about 700 AD, with tunnels that directed water to the esplanade in front of the temple in the hope of giving Pakal's spirit a way into the underworld.

In fact, an engraving at the site reads that the dead gain entrance to the underworld in such a manner via the god Chaac, who will "will guide the dead toward the
underworld by submerging [them]."

The site previously gained fame when author Erich von Daniken posited in his 1968 book Chariots of the Gods? that Pakal looked like an astronaut at the helm of a spaceship on a carved stone sarcophagus.
But archaeologist Arnoldo Gonzalez says the dig has turned up "nothing to do with spaceships" and that the "flames" of the so-called spaceship engine in fact depict the Mayan "Tree of Life."
(Mayans may have had a "drought cult.")." yahoo

SDA News - Tell The World cinematic production

Millerite Disappointment Predicted
Book of Daniel Unsealed
Fitting It All Together

"After years of planning, fundraising and production, Chester Stanley, former president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Australia, saw his dream come true with the completion of the Tell the World cinematic production, which tells the history of the global denomination’s pioneers.
Tell the World was produced by Hope Channel, the official broadcast network of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, in Australia. It is also the largest media production in the denomination’s history. Its story of the birth and development of the early Advent movement was brought to life by 95 actors, 157 crew members and 1,000 extras.
Tell the World will allow viewers to see the Advent pioneers wrestle to understand scripture, debate theology and overcome bitter disappointment; but through it all, the pioneers were led and inspired by God as they journeyed to find the truth.
The world headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is coordinating the distribution of the
project, which will be available in three formats: short historical clips that will be released in August 2016; a television series of six episodes that will air on Hope Channel and stream online in October 2016; and a feature length film that will be available on streaming services, including Netflix, iTunes, Amazon and Google Play at a later date.
The month of October was selected to air Tell the World to help members remember the Great Disappointment of October 22, 1844. The date represents an event in the early history of several Christian denominations, including Adventism, when Jesus did not to return to Earth on as some has expected. Between 1831 and 1844, Baptist preacher William Miller launched the "great second Advent awakening." Based on his study of Daniel 8:14, Miller calculated that Jesus would return sometime between 1843 and 1844. Others calculated a specific date of October 22, 1844. When Jesus did not appear, Miller's followers experienced what came to be called "the Great Disappointment."
The project was designed for members to connect with the Church’s movement and to rediscover what it means to be an Adventist. Tell the World will also provide an opportunity for people who are unfamiliar with the Church to gain a deeper understanding of the denomination that has more than 19.1 million members worldwide.
I believe we are all convinced that this film will be a tremendous spiritual encouragement to God’s people and the public,” said Ted Wilson, president of the Seventh-day Adventist world church." ANN

then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

IN the NEWS - Kerry: Apostle of GREEN Religion

When someone uses their position in government to push their GREEN Religion agenda...the needless nonsense of banning air conditioners...is claimed to be on par in inmprortance as combating ISIS...well that individual truly is an APOSTLE of the GREEN Religion...

"Secretary of State John Kerry says air conditioners pose as great a threat to civilization as terrorist groups like ISIS. Speaking Friday in Vienna at a global warming conference, Kerry praised the diplomats for their work updating the Montreal Protocol, which banned various household chemicals in a bid to reduce the hole in the ozone. Kerry is seeking new bans on hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs, which are used in air conditioners and other cooling appliances. “As we were working together on the challenge of [ISIS] and terrorism,” Kerry said. “It’s hard for some people to grasp it, but what we–you–are doing here right now is of equal importance because it has the ability to literally save life on the planet itself.
When was the last time an air conditioner drove itself through a crowd of people, hacked a pregnant woman to death with a machete, or murdered children in a McDonald’s?" TN

Creation Moment 7/30/2016 - Twisting = Some of the Groaning of Creation

What do we REALLY see in the article below?---We see an extremely complex DESIGNED system (paragraph 2) that appears to be flawless....until twisting of the strands cause problems (paragraph 3). We see a finely tuned, DESIGNED system under the stress of sinful generations breaking down. (Like all designed systems, from a car to a cell phone).

For we know that the whole creation groaneth
and travaileth in pain together until now.

What was in that TREE of Life

of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) showed that histone-like proteins that bind to DNA are related to the physical twisting of the genetic strand, and that the supercoiling of the chromosome can trigger the expression of genes that make a microbe invasive.

2 The researchers looked at how the long strands of DNA are wound tight, a necessity if they are to fit into compact spaces. For eukaryotes, the strands wrap around histone proteins to fit inside a nucleus. For single-celled prokaryotes, which include bacteria, HU proteins serve as the histones, and the chromosomes bunch up in the nucleoid, which lacks a membrane.
3 When the normal twists and turns of DNA compaction turn into supercoiling, trouble can begin.

4 "We needed the interaction of these different techniques to get the overall picture of how the HU interactions with DNA were affecting the bacteria," added Larabell, who is also a professor of anatomy at UC San Francisco. "With X-ray tomography, we're able to see the natural contrast in organic material in as close to a living state as possible, and we can provide quantitative comparisons of how compacted the chromosomes were in pathogenic and normal strains of E. coli." IN the NEWS - Kaine sacrifices religious belief to be VP

.- Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine has reportedly changed his mind on a long-standing policy preventing government funding of most abortions, less than three weeks after affirming his support for the measure.
For 30 years, the Hyde Amendment has prohibited certain taxpayer funds – generally those through the Department of Health and Human Services – from going toward abortions, except in cases of
rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is deemed to be at stake.
For the first time, however, the Democratic platform this year explicitly called for a repeal of the Hyde Amendment, prompting pro-life activists to call it the “most extreme” platform on abortion ever.
Kaine is a Catholic.....
As Governor of Virginia, he often spoke of adoption as the best solution to unwanted pregnancy, and approved the sale of “Choose Life” license plates, whose proceeds help fund pro-life clinics. He supported abstinence-only sex education for a time (although he later cut funding saying the program was not working), and backed Virginia’s informed consent law, which requires women seeking an abortion to receive an ultrasound of the developing fetus prior to the procedure.
On July 22, Kaine was officially announced as Hillary Clinton’s running mate. Four days later, CNN reported that the Virginia senator had changed his stance on the Hyde Amendment." CNA

Papal Notes - "ALL CORNERS OF THE WORLD"

....and all the world wondered after the beast.
Revelation 13:3
"According to official estimates, some 500,000 people attended the July 28 Mass with Pope Francis outside the Jasna Góra monastery, where the famous image of Our Lady of Częstochowa is housed.Participants at a youth jamboree Francis is attending this week in Krakow swayed and clapped Thursday evening as they moved to bouncy rhythms
while Francis took in the show from a canopied platform.
Participants twirled flags from their homelands, including from Africa and South America, as the Argentine pope listened to greetings in many languages. One woman belted out a U.S. gospel music number.
Among the joyful was Alyson Radford, 27, of Steubenville, Ohio. She says “I feel so blessed to be where the pope is.”
Pope Francis has been greeted during the official inauguration of World Youth Day, a global Catholic celebration taking place in Krakow, Poland, with messages by young people in different languages and dance and musical performances.
As Francis sat on a stage in his white robe, he watched a dance performance below by youth in traditional colorful Polish costumes as well as tango, a tradition in his native Argentina.
Next came a procession of various national flags representing all corners of the world.
Pope Francis has taken a ride with disabled young people through the heart of Krakow in an electric tram — underlining his mission to fight climate change.....
Poland’s former president and Solidarity founder Lech Walesa, a devout Catholic, says a late
invitation prevented him from attending the Mass celebrated by Pope Francis at the nation’s holiest shrine of Jasna Gora.
Francis centered his homily for the Mass on the readings, starting with Paul's letter to the Galatians.
This reading speaks of Jesus coming at the “fullness of time” which, the Pope said, was “a gift of grace: God filled our time out of the abundance of his mercy. Out of sheer love he inaugurated the fullness of time.”The pontiff noted the particular significance of God entering into history by being “born of a woman.”
Pope Francis indicated to the image of Our Lady of Częstochowa, and reflected on Mary as a sign of “the fullness of time.”
In her, we find complete conformity to the Lord,” he said, adding that there is a “Marian thread” woven into history with the “divine thread.”
If there is any human glory, any merit of our own in the fullness of time, it is she,” he said. Mary is that space, preserved free from sin, where God chose to mirror himself.”She is the stairway God took to descend and draw near to us. She is the clearest sign of the fullness of time.”

Creation Moment 7/29/2016 - Universe Too Big?

I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens,
Isaiah 45:12
"We don't know whether anyone is enjoying the view from some other planet. For all we know, we might be the only observers.
Whether we are or not, the vastness of it all has led some skeptics to ask, why would God waste so much space on so few living creatures? Is this really a mark of intelligent design? It might surprise you to hear that I like that question, but I do: I enjoy answering it.

One of the better-articulated versions of that question goes like this:

Doesn't the way that 99.99999999% of the universe is absolutely inhospitable to any kind of life show you that it wasn't made for anybody? It is easy to imagine how a universe could have been more intelligently designed, with less wasted space and energy and more hospitality for life.
Contrary to what Dr. Shook imagines, a vast universe is a key component in at least one line of argument for intelligent design. Articulated by Michael Denton and others, this argument points to the unique fitness of the universe and of our planet for upright bipeds like ourselves. The whole thing appears set up for us, and only for us. The vaster the cosmos, the more dramatically that point is underlined." EN&V

Creation Moment 7/28/2016 - Science "crises"

"Two evolutionists appeal to “evolutionary forces” to explain the rise of bad science.

Paul Smaldino and Richard McElreath at the University of California Davis used an evolutionary
theory-based computational model to analyse the problem of bad science. They found that “the most powerful incentives in contemporary science actively encourage, reward and propagate poor research methods and abuse of statistical procedures”. In short, it’s natural selection for shoddy science.

There’s widespread concern that science is in a state of crisis. Vox.com reported results of a survey of 270 scientists about the seven biggest problems facing science:
  1. Academia has a huge money problem.
  2. Too many studies are poorly designed [i.e., not intelligently designed].
  3. Replicating results is crucial. But scientists rarely do it.
  4. Peer review is broken.
  5. Too much science is locked behind paywalls.
  6. Science is poorly communicated to the public.
  7. Life as a young academic is incredibly stressful.
But since natural selection cannot get from “is” to “ought”, there’s no way to call the situation bad or good. It just is what it is. In fact, if natural selection produced eyes and wings and a myriad of other trophies of progress, then Smaldino and McElreath ought to celebrate this new evolutionary innovation they call “bad science.”

The only way Smaldino and McElreath can call bad science “bad” is to appeal to a standard that does not evolve. Perhaps they could use one that says, “Thou shalt not bear false witness” or “Thou shalt not covet what is thy neighbor’s” or “Whatever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men.” CEH/Ex. 20:16,17/Col.3:23

Creation Moment 7/27/2016 - Darwinian Fundamentalism

"Evolutionary biologists have been shamed about storytelling for decades, often by their own
colleagues. For instance, back in 2004, George Williams—an influential evolutionist—expressed his disgust with some of his colleagues who exchanged scientific rigor for ad-hoc scenarios. The storytellers would claim that any adaptation “had evolved because it provided some benefit” to an individual or population. Anyone can imagine a benefit leading to a trait, but where is the connection between cause and effect? In fact, as we have pointed out, it’s illogical to say something “evolved to” do something, because natural selection is supposed to be blind and purposeless. One case Williams heard about was the notion that dying of the elderly “evolved to do it so we get out of the way, so the young people can go on maintaining the species.” He called this “absolute nonsense” and called on his fellows to act more scientific. This was also a theme of the late Stephen Jay Gould, who dubbed the storytelling habit “Darwinian fundamentalism.” The phrase “just-so story” is itself pejorative to Darwinism, reflecting a caricature of explanation like the childish stories of that name written by Rudyard Kipling for children.

So have evolutionists learned their lesson? Look at this brazen headline in Current Biology: “Just So Stories about the Evolution of Apoptosis” (i.e., programmed cell death). Douglas Green and Patrick Fitzgerald aren’t writing to confess and repent. They’re bragging:
We suggest scenarios for the evolution of one pathway of apoptosis, the mitochondrial pathway, and consider how they might be tested. We conclude with a ‘Just So Story’ of how the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis might have evolved during eukaryotic evolution.
This “scenario” is just as nonsensical as the one about seniors evolving to die so young people could evolve, but the editors of Current Biology let it through anyway, despite the blatant title. Other evolutionists may not be so up front about it, but are just as guilty. Some recent examples:
H
ow early mammals evolved night vision to avoid predators: We’re told that “early mammals evolved night vision to find food and survive” but then later, “our ancestors later evolved to take advantage of the daylight hours again.” No rigor at the BBC News, either: Helen Briggs employs the same Kipling formula in, “How early mammals evolved night vision to escape dinos.”

Mathematicians may have found an answer to the longstanding puzzle as to why we have evolved to cooperate: Aren’t mathematicians rigorous? Usually, but not when they join evolutionists in the storytelling game. Not only did these mathematicians trade in stories, they committed two other fallacies:
(1) attributing cooperation to chance, which is no explanation at all, and
(2) falling into the self-refuting trap of ridding cooperation of morality, which means bystanders could accuse them of being the cheaters. On what basis could they refute the criticism that their paper is an evolutionary strategy to cheat and pass on their genes? Isn’t just-so storytelling for a scientist a kind of cheating by definition?

Real reason turtles have shells: Burrowing tool: A lot of reporters jumped on the bandwagon of evolutionists who published in Current Biology a new story for the origin of turtle shells. The shells did not evolve for protection, they say; “Adaptation related to digging was the initial impetus in the origin of the shell” instead. They extend their tale by adding, “Fossoriality [burrowing] likely helped stem turtles survive the Permian/Triassic extinction.” The folly in this story is immediately evident. If this were a law of nature, why didn’t all the other burrowing animals, like rodents and badgers, evolve shells? No reporters asked these simple questions." CEH

Iconic author, speaker and prophet Tim LaHaye died Monday at age 90, igniting mourning through the evangelical community and beyond.
LaHaye authored scores of books, including prophetic tomes, Bible studies and his exceedingly popular Left Behind series with co-author Jerry B. Jenkins.
Fellow end times writer Joel C. Rosenberg also posted his remarks

Whether LaHaye passes his judgment is up to God now that his probation has closed. But Mr. Rosenberg lamenting that LaHaye won't be raptured (referring to the myth known as the "secret rapture" )that LaHaye deceived many with, is sad in itself. It is the biggest false doctrine that is easy to refute.

Health Note- Alcohol DOES Cause Cancer

Beloved,
I wish above all things that thou mayest...be in health...
3 John 1:2
"A new review of epidemiological evidence supports a causal association between alcohol consumption and cancers at seven sites in the body: oropharynx, larynx, oesophagus, liver, colon, rectum and female breast. This is a stronger statement than the long-
recognised association between alcohol and cancer.

An association means there is a relationship of some kind between the two variables.

A causal association means there is evidence that alcohol consumption directly causes cancer. The causal link was supported by evidence for a dose-response relationship, at least partial reversal of risk when alcohol consumption is reduced." MedicalXpress

Creation Moment 7/25/2016 - Consciousness

"The most intractable question in modern neuroscience and philosophy of the mind is often phrased
"What is consciousness?"

The problem has been summed up nicely by philosopher David Chalmers as what he calls the Hard Problem of consciousness:
How is it that we are subjects, and not just objects?

Chalmers contrasts this hard question with what he calls the Easy Problem of consciousness:
What are the neurobiological substrates underlying such things as wakefulness, alertness, attention, arousal, etc. Chalmers doesn't mean of course that the neurobiology of arousal is easy. He merely means to show that even if we can understand arousal from a neurobiological standpoint, we haven't yet solved the hard problem: the problem of subjective experience. Why am I an I, and not an it?" EN&V

FORMULA for Consciousness:
BODY + BREATH OF LIFE (Spirit) =  SOUL (your consciousness)
...and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a living soul.

The Ditch & Whore

Let them alone:
they be blind leaders of the blind.
And if the blind lead the blind,
both shall fall into the ditch.
Matthew 15:14
But draw near hither,
ye sons of the sorceress,
the seed of the adulterer and the whore.
Against whom do ye sport yourselves? ...
are ye not children of transgression,
a seed of falsehood,
Isaiah 57:3,4

Q: Are these Leaders Literally Blind or Spiritually Blind?
A: Obviously Spiritually Blind.

Q: What then is a Spiritual Ditch?
A: For a whore is a deep ditch;
and a strange woman is a narrow pit.
Proverbs 23:27

Creation Moment 7/24/2016 - Mathematical Destruction of Evolution

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, .... so that they are without excuse:

Romans 1:20

"Marcel-Paul ‘Marco’ Schützenberger was a leading scientific researcher who achieved prominence
in several fields. From his research, especially in the area of mathematical analysis of the purported mechanisms of evolution, he increasingly became disenchanted with Darwinism.

Schützenberger openly presented, along with MIT professor Murray Eden, the evidence for the fact that the mathematical probabilities against neo-Darwinism are enormous. He concluded that, as a result of the discovery of genetic coding, scientists have realized that genes are
“ … like a word composed in the DNA alphabet; such words form the genomic text. It is that word that tells the cell to make this or that protein. Either a given protein is structural, or a protein itself works in combination with other signals given by the genome to fabricate yet another protein.”
He stressed that a central evolution postulate is that genes undergo mutations “that may facilitate the reproduction of those individuals carrying it; over time, and with respect to a specific environment, [and these] mutants come to be statistically favored, replacing individuals lacking the requisite mutation[s].” He concluded that
Evolution could not be an accumulation of such typographical errors. Population geneticists can study the speed with which a favorable mutation propagates itself under these circumstances. They do this with a lot of skill, but these are academic exercises … because none of the parameters that they use can be empirically determined … We know the number of genes in an organism. There are about one hundred thousand for a higher vertebrate … . But this seems grossly insufficient to explain the incredible quantity of information needed to accomplish evolution within a given line of species.”

MIT Professor Murray Eden agreed with Schützenberger, and
… was particularly concerned with the element of randomness which is claimed to provide the mutational variation upon which evolution depends. ‘No currently existing formal language’, he contends, ‘can tolerate random changes in the symbol sequences which express its sentences. Meaning is almost invariably destroyed. Any changes must be syntactically lawful ones’.”

Schützenberger also documented the existence of major gaps in the current evolution theory, namely the problem of the enormous number of beneficial random mutations and massive selection that are required for evolution to occur, noting that
“ … it is clear that even on the most schematic models the number of cycles involved is truly enormous. Thus, when we reach the level of 101000, whether or not we take a few square roots makes little difference.”

This is another crucial argument against Darwinism. Anything that was produced by a random process is more likely to be destroyed by the very same process than it is to be improved by further random changes.
This extends the functionality problem ever further. Not only do Darwinists have to produce life by chance, they then have to maintain it over billions of years by the same process.
Schützenberger refers to this problem elsewhere by pointing out that biologists almost universally assume the functionality of life without questioning it, while physicists and the mathematician can see this as a glaring oversight that is fatal to the Darwinian position." CMI
