Pentecostals are the charismatics who believe in the Trinity (Godhead) of Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
Most today are dispensational pre-millennial (some are post-millennial dominionism). Although they consider themselves theologically conservative, an exception would be women ordination. Most are Arminian. The majority of TV evangelists are from the Pentecostal movement. Many Pentecostals preach the "prosperity gospel".
United Holy Church of America - 1886, began as a black Holiness Church which became Pentecostal. About 50,000 members.
Church of God, (Cleveland, Tennessee) - 1886, originally founded as a restorationist church along the Tennessee / North Carolina border. But in the early 1900's their leader converted to a charismatic and changed the church into one. Church Of God in Christ - 1907, formed as the major black charismatic denomination in the U.S. About 5,400,000 members. {small offshoot of about 10,000 members Church of Christ (Holiness) U.S.A. - 1947}
International Pentecostal Holiness Church - 1911, About 290,000 members.
Assemblies of God USA - 1914, Assemblies of God adopted dispenational pre-millennialialism (secret rapture). They believe in Creation, opposes
strongly gay marriage but have women ordination. About 1,800,000 members.
Independent Assemblies of God International - 1918, Scandinavian Americans who got swept up into the charismatic movement.
Congregational Holiness Church - 1921, split from International Pentecostal Holiness Church for more congregational polity freedom. About 29,000 members.
Foursquare Church - 1923, church founded by Aimee Semple McPherson ("Sister Aimee,"). About 350,000 members.
Elim Fellowship - 1924, stressing evangelism. About 21,000 members.
Open Bible Standard Churches - 1934, formed as an alliance of independent charismatic congregations. About 40,000 members.
Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church - 1935, Free Will Baptists in the south who got caught up in the charismatic movement and adopted theology modeled after the Assemblies of God. About 28,000 members.
International Fellowship of Christian Assemblies - 1948, organized by
Italian immigrants in the northeast. About 7,000 members.
Vineyard Churches - 1974, started as a Bible study movement on the west coast. Considers itself more laid back & theologically more liberal. Also rejects pre-millennial eschatology for a variant of post-millennialism. Also gives a heavy emphasis on contemporary music. About 140,000 members.
International Pentecostal Church of Christ - 1976, merger of smaller churches. About 4,000 members.
