Promoting Earth Day via the public school system
"Dayton —
The Montgomery County Solid Waste District is working with the Kroger Co. to provide free paper grocery
bags to groups to be decorated with bright colors and funky art designs as part of the annual Earth Day Groceries Project.
The bags are then returned to Kroger and distributed to shoppers during the week of Earth Day (April 22).
Groups that want to participate this year must submit a grocery bag request form by March 21. The forms can be online at mcswd.org, or people can call 937-224-8086.
Decorated bags must be returned to a local Kroger store by April 11.
Last year, Montgomery County schools, nonprofits and other organizations decorated more than 18,000 bags." DaytonDailyNews
the amendment, though there’s no indication school officials will consider reversing course.
But Superintendent James Hayden said...“This is not a fight about Christmas. We acknowledge it,” ...“It’s about being representative for everyone. I hope we can get beyond being hung up on labels.”
The school committee, too, agrees with this view as it has already voted twice to keep the “winter recess” label, so McNulty and Drummey are hoping the referendum might be a new tactic with the power to change their minds." TheBlaze

While DEMOTING Christmas via the public school system
"Residents in a Massachusetts town are taking aim at a local school district’s decision to change the name of “Christmas” break to “winter” recess. They will hold a non-binding ballot referendum on April 7 regarding the amendment, though there’s no indication school officials will consider reversing course.
But Superintendent James Hayden said...“This is not a fight about Christmas. We acknowledge it,” ...“It’s about being representative for everyone. I hope we can get beyond being hung up on labels.”
