Biblical Slavery

There are those who accuse the Bible of being "pro-slavery". But is it? No.... People who owed debt had to work to pay off their debts (sort of like indentured servants) but they also had their "freedom" from this obligation wiped out at Jubilee. This kept people from descending into a type of permanent servant status to another human.
And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
Leviticus 25:8,10

This was one of the reasons the Israelites were punished......

Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel;
I made a covenant with your fathers
in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of bondmen, saying,
At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew,
which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years,
thou shalt let him go free from thee:
but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.
But ye turned and polluted my name,
and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid,
whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return,
and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.
Therefore thus saith the LORD;
Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother,
and every man to his neighbour:
behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD,
to the sword,
to the pestilence,
and to the famine;
and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
Jeremiah 34:13,14,16,17

The Bible advises us not to go into debt for a reason...
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
Proverbs 22:7

Bottom Line: This type of "Biblical Slavery" is NOT the same kind as the slavery man pictures down
The Satanic cruelty of human slavery
through history--including the slavery in America of blacks in the past. That slavery was based upon capturing people who owed you nothing, forcing them into labor for pure profit for the "masters", no Jubilee given, and satanic cruelty used upon the slaves.
