The first SDA to preach in France was D.T. Bourdeau in 1876. He preached in homes because they weren't allowed to preach in public by law-due to the Catholic Church at the time. His first efforts resulted in 17 baptisms. Of the first two colporteurs one died due to hardships he faced.
