Adventist History: Brazil

Today, Brazil has the worlds largest SDA population
1878: A couple from Germany settled in Brazil as Sabbath keepers and coverted one other family.

1884: A ship leaves a German paper behind. - A man in Brusque finds it. He notices an address that one can write to for tracts. He does. He uses the tracts to sell for buying alcohol & trades the rest to the grocer more to drink. - Grocer wraps items with tracts which end up in homes. - A buzz was created in town about the Sabbath & several families began observing it.

When SDA colporteurs from the U.S. arrive, they discovered these Sabbath keepers who already existed due to the tracts scattered by the grocer. The colporteurs were Mr. & Mrs. W.H. Thurston. They settled in Rio de Janeiro.

1915: A seminary was established at Sao Paulo.
