Stephen Hawking recently celebrated his 70th B-day. He has always prefered the universe to be eternal,self-existing, without a starting point. New evidence was presented that seems to counter that view. In response Hawking said “A point of creation would be a place where science broke down. One would have to appeal to religion and the hand of God.."
Some of the failing past theories include Eternal Inflation (Alan Guth himself seems to have debunked his own theory about an eternaly innflating universe) Eternal Cycles (Probelem with this one is that disorder increases with time) Eternal Egg (The cosmic egg has been shown to collapse under quantum instabilities).
A scientist there named Vilenkin said, “All the evidence we have says that the universe had a beginning.” The New Scientist website called this, “The Genesis Problem.” Hmmmm..Speaking of Genesis... In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1
