During the days of the Spanish conquest of the new world, many Spainards
used this verse to apply to them spreading Christianity to the American
continent. (Tarshish is Spain). Pesonally, I don't believe this is what this
verse means-but what does it mean?
Surely the isles shall wait for me,
and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and
their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of
Israel, because he hath glorified thee. Isaiah 60:9
