"The researchers studied 420 chemical reactions found in cells. These reactions help make amino acids, parts of RNA, vitamins, and other needed materials. The team compared genes, proteins, and chemical pathways found in living things today. From these data, they built a model of how early cell chemistry may have formed.

Their model begins with the last universal common ancestor, or LUCA. They suggest that LUCA had enzymes for about half of the reactions they studied. Additional reactions may have been driven by metals near hot-water vents. The team tested one part of this idea in the lab and found that the metal palladium could help phosphite add phosphate groups to certain molecules. This is important because adding a phosphate group produces ATP, a molecule that stores and transfers energy needed for cellular work.

The experiment shows that metals can help certain reactions occur, and that is where an engineering view lends some insight. A working machine needs more than parts that can perform separate tasks. The parts must be arranged, controlled, and linked so the whole system works. A cell faces the same challenge on a far greater scale. It must store coded data in DNA, copy that data, make proteins, control energy, maintain a membrane, repair damage, remove waste, and reproduce, all in the right place and at the right time.

But just because palladium assisted one reaction doesn’t mean it explains how the whole system originated. That is the first problem the study presents.

There is another issue. The model does not begin with bare chemicals. It begins with LUCA already having a genetic code and many enzymes. Heinrich Heine University noted that the chemical reactions studied are widely shared among living things, much like the genetic code itself. Other conventional scientists have proposed that LUCA was already quite complex. A 2024 study estimated that it had at least 2.5 million DNA base pairs and about 2,600 proteins. Those estimates are based on models, but they show that organized, functional biology was already present.

From a creation standpoint, the chemistry itself is not surprising. Matter has stable properties, and metals can act as useful catalysts as they modify and speed chemical reactions, just as the palladium did. But a catalyst is not a cell—it’s not a form of life. 

This study therefore reveals an important divide. Chemistry can explain how some reactions happen, but it doesn’t yet explain how those reactions became a coded, controlled, self-reproducing system. The more clearly we see system-level design in cells, the stronger indication we have of their Creator’s workmanship."

"Between 1957 and 1959 two fossilized limb bone parts were uncovered in Japan. Scientists thought the bones were human—a portion of humerus (upper arm bone) and the head of a femur (thigh bone). So they were dubbed ‘Ushikawa Man’ because they were found at the Ushikawa (牛川 = Ox River’) district in Toyohashi city, Aichi Prefecture, central Japan.

Scientists claimed that ‘Ushikawa Man’ was a male human who lived somewhere between 129–774 thousand years (ka) ago. This would make him Japan’s most ancient fossil human. A few decades later, the ‘date’ began to be progressively revised down to about 20 ka ago, still among the country’s oldest fossil humans. That is, until recently.

A 2024 study has re-examined the bones and discovered that they

are in fact the bones of a brown bear. The ‘humerus’ was actually a radius bone—from the bear’s forearm, not its upper arm. And the femur head was also from the bear. ‘Ushikawa Man’ actually never was.

This is not the first time that bear and human bones have been confused. A bone found in a cave in Alaska in the 1990s, even though found near shell beads, was thought to belong to a bear. When re-examined in 2019, it turned out instead to belong to a Native American woman.

Incidents like this should remind us to be cautious about interpretations of the past when the physical evidence is scant. In fact, this is only one of many instances in which a further examination of the physical evidence has led to museum displays correcting their signage. The obvious lesson is that we should be especially cautious about interpretations of physical evidence which promote or convey an evolutionary worldview that contradicts Biblical history." CMI

Creation Moment 9/29/2026 - Those jumping genes

"Scientists recently found a “jumping gene” in an odd place. 

An RNA molecule from a tiny predatory bacterium had entered the cells of a very different microbe  Some reports said this could help genes spread between species. But the study did not show a new genetic system forming. It showed an existing system moving genetic material from one cell to another.

The team studied Candidatus Velamenicoccus archaeovorus, a small bacterium that attacks other microbes and carries a group I intron inside one of its ribosomal RNA genes. An intron is a piece of genetic material that can be cut out of an RNA copy. Some introns can also move to new places. Using special probes, the team found this intron RNA inside dead cells of an archaeon called Methanothrix soehngenii. That showed the RNA had crossed from one kind of microbe into another.

But crossing into another cell is not the same as becoming part of the other cell’s DNA. Furthermore, the team did not show that the intron entered the archaeon’s genome, gave it a new trait, or passed it to later generations. Those steps would be needed before the event could lead to an inherited change.

The RNA itself has a useful shape. After the intron is cut out, it can form a circle. Many RNA molecules have open ends where enzymes can start breaking them down. A circle has no open ends, so it can last longer.

That shape matters because a moving RNA molecule must survive long enough to reach another cell. It must also keep the proper form needed for its next step. In an engineered system, durability is only useful if the part still works after transport. The same point applies here. Stability alone does not create a new function, but it can help preserve an existing one. Movement also depends on several other operational parts, such as the right RNA shape, the right DNA target, working enzymes, and a functional repair system.

Some group I introns use enzymes that cut DNA at set places. The cell’s repair system can then help copy the intron into that site, transitioning the information safely while maintaining the cell’s ability to function properly.

This is where the study becomes especially interesting from an engineering perspective. A successful transfer is not just one event. It is a chain of events. Each step depends on the successful completion of a prior step. If the RNA breaks down, the target is missed, or the repair fails, the process stops. The system works because several parts act in the right order.

Overall, the new research adds a useful fact to microbiology: RNA can move between very different microbes. But moving existing genetic material does not lead to the formation of an entirely new system—its operative processes continue as usual, as the Creator originally intended."

"Q: What if the “ghosts” in our DNA are not lost steps in human evolution? 

A new Science study found DNA patterns that may point to two unknown human groups. Conventional scientists place these groups deep in the past. But the key finding is simpler: ancient human groups were closely related and could mix with one another. That fits well with a Biblical view of one human family.

Yulin Zhang of UC Berkeley and his team built a computer tool called TRACE that studies small sections of DNA in people alive today. The tool built family trees for those DNA sections and looked for parts that seem to have very old ancestry. The team then compared those patterns with known Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA.

Some DNA sections did not match either ancient people group. The

team said they may have come from two unknown groups. They called one a “ghost” group and the other a “super-archaic” group. 

A Berkeley news release said these groups may have split from other human lines about 800,000 and 1.8 million years ago.

Yet no DNA from these proposed groups has been found and tested. Their ages and family links come from a computer model built from DNA in people living now. 

That difference is important. 

The DNA patterns are real,

 but the long ages and family tree are model results.

An engineer would ask what goes into the model. TRACE used DNA data, family tree rules, and ideas about how DNA changes through time. Like any model, its answer depended on the data, rules, and starting ideas. A model can be useful, but it is not a direct record of the past.

The study also points to a strong pattern of genetic mixing in humans. The ghost group may have passed DNA to ancestors of people alive today, and the super-archaic group may have passed DNA through Denisovans. The researchers described human history as “more like a complex web” instead of a simple branching tree because mixing appears to have happened many times. This makes sense in light of the genealogical records listed throughout Scripture.

Other DNA makes the evidence of mixed genetics even clearer. Scientists have sequenced DNA from a person who had a Neanderthal mother and a Denisovan father. That is direct confirmation that these two groups could have children together. This mixing matters because successful gene flow requires reproductive compatibility. The DNA evidence shows that there was no reproductive barrier between these two groups. They could exchange genes and pass them to later generations.

The new study adds to our understanding of human genetics, but its evolutionary timeline should not be confused with the genetic evidence itself. What researchers found is simply a network of related human groups, which fits the history that the Bible portrays: one human family spread after Babel, 

formed distinct populations, 

and later mixed again.

"Texas Democrat and U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico is at it again. This time, video footage has surfaced of his "favorite" drag queen teaching minors how to dance, with the midterm elections just weeks away.

Talarico was approached during a campaign event earlier this week and asked to name his favorite drag queen.
Talarico didn't even hesitate: "Oh, my gosh. Probably Alyssa Edwards."
Having an answer to that question on hand is disturbing enough, but it's not nearly as troubling as the person he chose.
Edwards, also known as Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson, has been an outspoken proponent of youth drag shows and has publicly bragged about "working with children," according to an exclusive report by Fox News.
"Libs of TikTok" posted a resurfaced video on X from Netflix's 2018 docuseries "Dancing Queens" Wednesday, showing Edwards

"God, through the 'pen' of Moses, is being redundant for redundancy's sake. God is going out of His way to tell us that the 'days' of Creation were literal solar days. He has used the word yôm and combined this with a number and the words' morning' and 'evening.' God has communicated the words of Genesis 1 in a specific manner, so that the interpreter could not miss His point. What is the Seal of God?

"What is the seal of God?" As life continues on as usual from day to day, scarcely any attention is paid to the seal of God.....arguments that the seal of God is the Sabbath was that the Sabbath commandment contains the characteristics of a seal. 

A seal, she observed in our early days and reiterated many years

later, is attached to a law to show the name, title, and authority of the lawgiver. The Sabbath commandment can therefore be considered a seal because it "is the only one of all the ten in which are found both the name and the title of the Lawgiver. It is the only one that shows by whose authority the law is given. Thus it contains the seal of God, affixed to His law as evidence of its authenticity and binding force" (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 307).

If the Sabbath is the seal of the living God, what is the seal that the angel will place in the forehead (And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. Revelation 7:2-3)? 

The seal to be placed in the forehead is a mark which angels, but not human eyes, can read; for the destroying angel must see this mark of redemption."
