"Nathalee Aranda is an Adventist athlete from Panama who will compete on Saturday night, July 31, 2021, during the Tokyo Olympics. She will compete in the women’s long jump.
Adventists will not only watch, but many will watch the games on
the Sabbath if their national team is competing on that day. In fact, many will almost certainly be praying to God for their team to win. We should pray; but we should be praying for our nation, our churches and families because while the world is distracted by the Olympics, our freedoms are being taken away. We are facing a very serious crisis and even after the Olympics are over, the problems facing our world are just beginning. Some may see the Olympics as a temporary escape from the endless 24-hour news coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic. But it’s not just the Covid-19 crisis; sin, rebellion, ungodliness, terror and fear have taken over not only our nation but the entire world.When you belong to Christ, you are on the winning team! And just as the Olympics will have millions of fans watching and cheering for their teams, God has an innumerable company of saints throughout the universe who worship and praise Him; not only in this life, but in the life to come.
“And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.” 1 Corinthians 9:25.
Long after this world has ended with all of its sporting events;
those who are on God’s team will triumph throughout eternity with their
crowns of glory." AdventMessenger
