Universalism is the notion that ALL will be saved in the end. But doesn't that fly in the face of Free Will granted to us by the Creator? Besides, if universalism were true, wouldn't God bed mean-why continue past the cross if at that point, all would be saved?
"God desires from all His creatures the service of love-service that springs from an appreciation of His character. He takes no pleasure in forced obedience and to all He grants freedom of will that they may render Him voluntary service." Patriarchs & Prophets p. 34 E.G.W.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will
serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side
of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me
and my house, we will serve the LORD.
