ZECHARIAH was of the nation of Judah and began to prophesy while they were under
Persia. It opens with commentary on their past - The LORD hath been sore displeased with your
fathers. Zechariah 1:2
And the plea to turn to God -
Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith
the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn
unto you, saith the LORD of
hosts. Zechariah 1:3
The filthy rags of the high priest
Joshua - Now Joshua was clothed with filthy
garments, and stood before the angel. And he answered and spake unto those that
stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him
he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will
clothe thee with change of
raiment. Zechariah 3:3,4
Zerubbael will finish
rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem - The
hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also
finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.
Zechariah 4:9
The apple of His eye - For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath
he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth
the apple of his eye. Zechariah 2:8 Vision of the 4
chariots - In the first chariot were red
horses; and in the second chariot black horses; And in the third chariot white
horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses. And the angel answered
and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth
from standing before the
Lord of all the earth. Zechariah 6:2,3,5
A warning -
Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy
spoil shall be divided in
the midst of thee. Zechariah 14:1
In summary - Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy
habitation.Zechariah 2:13 ...saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit,
