Creation Moment 2/5/2023 - Diamonds tell us.....

"Recently, scientists analyzed tiny gas bubbles in diamonds, said to
be at least 2.7 billion years old. They concluded that the chemical composition of Earth’s atmosphere was established early in its history.

They heated the diamonds to 2000 ⁰C, turning them into graphite. Then they analyzed the volatile compounds (such as helium, neon, and argon) driven off. These were absorbed from the atmosphere during the diamonds’ formation.  

Diamonds have an extremely tight lattice structure, which makes them ideal ‘time capsules’.

--Secular researchers assumed the earth’s atmosphere contained no oxygen at the beginning. In their thinking it took billions of years before the atmosphere could support life. 

--However, from the composition of the volatiles measured in the diamonds it appears that Earth’s early atmosphere was like it is today. I.e., a life-supporting atmosphere was present soon after Earth formed—and remained fundamentally the same ever since.

Lead researcher Dr Michael Broadley, of the University of Lorraine, presented the findings at the recent Goldschmidt Geochemistry Conference. He said, “This was a surprising result.”

However, this is no surprise to those who believe the creation account in Genesis—that the earth was created to be inhabited (Isaiah 45:18). 

 

God created the world in six normal-length Earth-rotation days, about 6.000 years ago. He began creating plants on Day 3. Obviously, the atmosphere needed to be in place by then, and with a composition much like today’s, so the creatures could breathe." CMI

Two days after the exposure both men were thought to be in a fair way of recovery. They had regained consciousness and talked freely. Last Friday Richard suddenly relaxed into a comatose condition, and death soon followed. He was a cigar maker. Freinstein is still in a critical condition. The fingers of hands have been amputated close to the knuckle joints. The chances of his recovery are very poor.

Real Lesson of the making of the Golden Calf

Creation Moment 2/4/2023 - The Built-in Sense of Morality

"Evolutionists are still puzzling over why people have an in-built
sense of fairness and a tendency to cooperate, even when it goes against their rational self-interest.

An article in the leading journal Science, entitled ‘The Evolution of the Golden Rule’, reviews competing theories of how evolutionary forces might have shaped cooperation and altruistic tendencies, in a ‘survival of the fittest’ environment.

It seems that large-scale cooperation—e.g. constructing transport networks or sending robots to Mars—only works where a system of rewards (for cooperation) and punishments (for unfairness) is in place. 

Several evolutionary biologists argue that such systems might be deeply ingrained in our brains—an ‘evolutionary underpinning of morality’.

But, as the article notes, with so many cooperative tendencies built into our brains, why isn’t there more harmony in the world?"

1) As to why there's a built-in sense of fairness-- Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know His law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right. Romans 2:14,15 NLT

Creation Moment 2/3/2023 - God's Skyscrapers vs. Man's Skyscrapers

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

"Trees are given a prominent position in God’s Word. Psalm 1 compares a man who bases his life on God’s law to a tree growing close to streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. 

Compare a tree with a skyscraper, often seen as a supreme example of human achievement. A skyscraper begins with a plan,

compiled by a team of architects and engineers. 

Even a very large tree begins with a tiny seed, often no bigger than a pinhead. But it is crammed with complex programmed information that controls its development into a living giant.

 

It takes a mountain of materials such as cement, sand, and steel to be brought to the site to build a skyscraper. 

But the tree seedling accomplishes the build-up of its body—the root system, the bole (trunk) and the crown—on site, just utilizing raw materials surrounding it. It uses the water delivered by the rain, the carbon dioxide and the oxygen from the surrounding air, and the nutrients dispersed through the soil around its roots. 

 

Not only that, but the energy that makes possible the building of its impressive structure does not have to be generated elsewhere and channeled to the building site. The energy of the sun is captured by special organs of the trees, called leaves. These small, green, and mostly flat, leathery structures contain thousands of minute but highly sophisticated factories capable of capturing solar energy and converting it into energy-rich substances. The tree uses these to build its body and to perform its many functions.

 

In our economies, we struggle with the problem of disposing of

waste products. But in trees this is dealt with neatly and efficiently by this fixation of solar energy. The by-product of this process is oxygen, which is essential for animal (and plant) life. It is released from the tree’s leaves to the atmosphere via the same access pores (stomata) through which the key raw material, the carbon dioxide, is taken in.

 

The crown of the tree is so designed as to give the leaves maximum exposure to the source of energy, the sun. Every photosynthesizing cell in the leaves is connected to the rest of the tree by minute conducting channels. One set, xylem, conducts water and dissolved chemicals upwards from the roots to the leaves. The other set, phloem, conducts the sugars produced in the leaves downwards to the roots. Both types are formed within the tree from the sugars generated from sunlight, reconstituted into strong and stable substances called cellulose and lignin. 

 

The root system of a tree likewise has a dual function. It anchors the tree into the soil and extracts water and nutrients from it. When it rains, some of the water directly enters through the leaf surfaces, but most ends up in the ground. A tree needs to obtain large amounts of water to survive and flourish. Its roots actively search for and extract it, along with dissolved nutrients, from the soil for despatch to the crown. 

What is clear from all this is the superiority of the divine design. "

"A historic event is taking place in Africa this month: Seventh-day

Adventism versus Roman Catholicism, the Remnant Church versus the Beast of Revelation, and Ted Wilson versus Pope Francis. Both of these world leaders will be in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), just one week apart. Both will meet with the President of the DRC and the country’s administration staff. Both will be speaking to their respective churches as well as the general public.

Pope Francis is on a “Pilgrimage of Peace” to Africa. He plans to spend three days in the Democratic Republic of the Congo before heading to Sudan. 

Seventh-day Adventist President Ted Wilson will also visit the

Democratic Republic of the Congo for three days, from February 10 to 12, 2023. These two visits by the heads of two major world religions are so close together that billboards advertising their visits have appeared, even side by side, all over Kinshasa, the capital city.

As a result, the same President Felix Tshisekedi, his administrators, and military officials who joined Pope Francis will also join Ted Wilson at the national palace. 

I want you to pay attention to what the media is saying, which I believe the entire country is aware of: “This arrival of the world pastor of Adventists will come after the arrival of the Roman Pontiff Pope Francis for Catholic Christians.”

Creation Moment 2/2/2023 - Q: Why a Green Earth? A: Easiest on our Eyes

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works;

"Why is green the most important color for the human eye?..... the
makeup of the human retina, which broadly contains two types of cells, rods and cones, which (very broadly) equate to pixels on an imaging sensor. 

Rod cells are highly sensitive with a peak of sensitivity at or above 500nm, which is sort of the border of blue moving into green. There are around 100 million of them in the human eye (some sources say 120 million), which is way way more than the six (or so) million color-sensitive cone cells. It's therefore tempting to leap to the conclusion that we see green sharply because there are more rods than cones and rods see green best.

That doesn't quite work out, though, because the moment we actually look at anything, we move our eyes so that the region of interest falls on the central area of the retina. Most of the color-sensitive cone cells are in this area; there aren't so many rods. This part of the retina is good for seeing sharp detail because each of the (roughly) nerves that take signals from cone cells to the brain is only connected to one cone cell. By comparison, quite a lot of rod cells are connected to each (roughly) nerve, which is good for sensitivity, because we're adding an up signal from a lot of (kinda) pixels, but not so great for sharpness.

So that's why the central area of vision is sharper. What we've heard so far, though, suggests that our daytime color vision should be sharper than our — in effect — monochrome night vision. It is, but it gives us no reason to assume that we should see green more sharply than red or blue. The reason for that is simply in the sensitivity curves of the three types of rod. It's often said that we have red, green and blue-sensitive rod cells, which is sort of true, but much as with a Bayer-pattern electronic image sensor, there's a lot of overlap between the three types, to the point that the medical world calls them long wavelength, (reddish), middle wavelength (greenish) and short wavelength (bluish) — but they really see a lot more than a single color.

To see saturated color, the brain does more or less the same sort of

processing that has to happen in a Bayer-sensor camera in order to recover full-color information. The reason this gives us best acuity in green is simply that there's really a lot of overlap between the medium and long (green and red) cones. This happens to the point where the medium-length cones can see everything from a greenish turquoise all the way through to, well, a fairly orange yellow, while the red cones can see from mid-green to the borders of infra-red. The result is an overall peak of sensitivity at a place which really looks pretty green, despite the fact that we can also see red using the same anatomy.

So, the highest-density, sharpest part of the retina is most sensitive to greenish light." Redshark

THE MIXED CHARACTER OF THE BELIEVER’S EXPERIENCE is very palpably suggested to us here.

Peter was undoubtedly a bold believer in Jesus Christ. 

He addresses his Master devoutly, calling him “Lord”—a name of

reverence, the use of which revealed the change that had been made in his character, and the obedient spirit it had produced. But the misgivings implied in that “if”—“if it is you”—savors rather of unbelief, and yet we find this hesitancy immediately followed by an expression of such strong confidence that we marvel at the request he uttered, “Command me to come to you on the water.” Then, cheered by the Lord’s prompt answer, “Come,” we find him showing courage by descending from the vessel, setting foot on the sea, and actually walking on the water. 

 

His valor, however, soon evaporates; for “when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid.” The faith that buoyed him up gave place to a fear that bowed him down. He who was walking the liquid wave one instant is sinking beneath the surge the next. 

Q: And is this not a common experience? 

Q: Are all God’s people so subject to changes; alternating between calm trust and cowardly fear? 

 

Our trophies are never won without troubles.......often have to engage in such terrible struggles against inbred sin, and to endure such severe pressure from troubles without, that he is constrained to cry out, “Oh wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”  

One day you may be on Tabor’s summit witnessing your Master’s transfiguration, and another day you may be in the Valley of Humiliation, groaning in spirit, humbled and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow. 

 

Our way to heaven is uphill and down dale. 

Our life is made of chequered materials; it is not all of one fabric. Sometimes full of hope we bound forward with elastic step; immediately the sun ceases to shine, the big rain drops fall, the vapors rise, and we sit down with folded arms and fixed eye, wearing a sad, leaden cast.

Dangers of the Path of an "allegorical" of Genesis

"Men can be on their guard against an open enemy, but the insidious foe that comes under the guise of friendship, can destroy the strongest. 

So the rantings of the atheist may make no impression, but the teachings of one virtually repudiating the very groundwork of the Bible while professing reverence for it, cannot fail to lead some astray.

The essential truths in the first chapters of Genesis are the religious truths, and these are unaffected by the question whether the story is to be regarded as purely historical, or partially allegorical and parabolic.

"While fictitious first-person accounts of going to hell that are sold

as fact don’t seem to have quite as much popularity as heaven accounts, especially in evangelical circles these days (Dante’s Inferno seems to have permanently cornered the market), a tale of temporary “hell tourism” occasionally goes viral. Word of Faith Pastor Gerald Johnson of Faith Culture Church recently released a video interview, where he recounted his alleged descent into hell in 2016, an encounter that he alleges took place 22 years after the start of his ministry.

 I thought that I was having a heart attack, and I physically… my spirit left my physical body and I thought that I was going upward, but because I thought I had done so much good in this lifetime and helped so many people, and made so many decisions that were Godly decisions, but um as opposed to me going up, I went down, and I went literally into literally into the center of the earth and that’s where hell is. Jesus even said that in the scriptures.

Johnson goes on to claim that there is music played by demons to torment the occupants of hell. Apparently, in Johnson’s version of hell, people are tortured with terrible versions of worldly songs that they enjoyed on earth.
