We read in Hebrews 8:8-10: ...Now notice this– “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.”

You notice God did not say, “I will abolish my covenant, and give you a new law.” and neither did He say, “I will give grace to supersede the Ten Commandments.”
What God is really trying to tell us is that because of His grace, He will write His law in our hearts, and bring our lives into conformity to His precepts. Isn’t that simple?"

"A team of researchers affiliated with several institutions in Spain and the U.S. has announced that they have discovered a new property of light—self-torque.

 

Scientists have long known about such properties of light as wavelength. More recently, researchers have found that light can also be twisted, a property called angular momentum.
Beams with highly structured angular momentum are said to have orbital angular momentum (OAM), and are called vortex beams.
They appear as a helix surrounding a common center, and when they strike a flat surface, they appear as doughnut-shaped.
In this new effort, the researchers were working with OAM beams when they found the light behaving in a way that had never been seen before.

The experiments involved firing two lasers at a cloud of argon gas—doing so forced the beams to overlap, and they joined and were emitted as a single beam from the other side of the argon cloud. The result was a type of vortex beam.
The researchers then wondered what would happen if the lasers had different orbital angular momentum and if they were slightly out of sync.
This resulted in a beam that looked like a corkscrew with a gradually changing twist.
And when the beam struck a flat surface, it looked like a crescent moon.
The researchers noted that looked at another way, a single photon at the front of the beam was orbiting around its center more slowly than a photon at the back of the beam. The researchers promptly dubbed the new property self-torque—and not only is it a newly discovered property of light, it is also one that has never even been predicted."

And, he says, she didn’t reply five years later when he wrote again, urging her to release records on accused clergy to help other alleged victims who were filing lawsuits.
“She did nothing,” said Piscitelli, today the Northern California spokesman for SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests.
Survivors of clergy abuse and their attorneys say that Harris’ record on fighting sex abuse within the Catholic Church is relevant as the U.S. senator from California campaigns for the presidency as a tough-on-crime ex-prosecutor who got her start prosecuting child sexual abuse cases. "An in-depth Church Militant investigation has turned up a career-long track record of accusations against former Chicago Cardinal Joseph Bernardin that not only was he a homopredator his entire career but that at various stops in his career, many of those sexual assaults were tied to satanic rituals.

Bernardin's entire public career was one of warm relationships with promoters of homosexuality — in fact, beyond his career and even his life; he explicitly requested the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus to sing at his wake.

Bernardin was ordained in April of 1952 by his bishop in Charleston, South Carolina, John J. Russell.

In the case of the 1957 rape of the minor in South Carolina we previously reported, the victim identified not only then-Fr. Bernardin, but also Bishop Russell and that the assault was part of a satanic ritual.

 

Church Militant was handed secret files from the vaults of the Chicago archdiocese by whistleblowers there....when confronted with direct evidence of homosexual rapist Bishop Daniel Ryan of Springfield, Illinois, Cacciavillan, Cardinal Francis George, Bishop Joseph Imesch and Bishop George Lucas refused to conduct any investigation into their notorious brother bishop.

Ryan eventually had to step down in disgrace once the truth came out — the truth that Cacciavillan had unsuccessfully tried to cover up.

Cacciavillan was one of the Vatican's men who defended Boston Cardinal Bernard Law as the homopredator sex abuse clergy story was breaking on the front pages of The Boston Globe a few years later.

 

Hopwood and Bernardin quickly became close associates, and each was promoted by Russell in short order — Bernardin being named chancellor at the same time Hopwood was named assistant

chancellor.

The two shared a residence together at the cathedral rectory for the next number of years — from 1954 until 1966 when Bernardin left for Atlanta where he became auxiliary bishop.

Roughly 40 years later in 1994, Hopwood was eventually busted and convicted for sex abuse involving hundreds of teenage males.

Many of these sexual assaults occurred in the same years he was a housemate with Bernardin at the cathedral rectory, where a number of the alleged assaults happened.

In resulting lawsuits against the diocese of Charleston, Bernardin's name "came up a large number of times," according to one of Hopwood's victims.

The victim also said in the filings that "Hopwood had presided over satanic rituals involving animals in the woods where some of his victims were abused."

But Hopwood wasn't the only close associate of Bernardin busted for sexual assault of teenage males.

In the mid-1990s, the exact same time the original alleged rape victim from 1957 was writing to the Vatican, the nuncio, the archdiocese of Chicago and even Pope John Paul, pleading for a hearing, a string of charges and arrests were being made of Bernardin's closest associates from his days in Charleston.

One after another, Bernardin's buddy priests were being arrested and prosecuted for sexual assaults of combined hundreds of teenage males, a large number of assaults having happened right at the very time Bernardin was chancellor of Charleston.

 

When criminal and civil charges were filed against Hopwood in the early 1990s, Bernardin, who by this time had ascended to archbishop in Chicago, made the unprecedented move of immediately dispatching the archdiocesan law firm to Hopwood's defense — the costly and prestigious firm, Mayer, Platt and Brown, now known as Mayer Brown.

The Chicago faithful were never told that Bernardin was using their funds to pay for the high-powered defense of his close associate accused of multiple satanic-inspired homosexual assaults.

However, there was still much more to come, just as Bernardin was fighting a two-front war, with charges against himself, as well as his "buddies" as the lawsuits described them, yet another round of charges of the precise same nature came pouring into Chicago from former seminarians in the diocese of Winona, Minnesota.

These seminarians charged that while he was archbishop of Cincinnati, Bernardin and some other clerics, including bishop friends of his, would travel to Winona's Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary and engage in homosexual acts with them involving satanic rituals.

None of these cases, the original 1957 rape allegation against Bernardin when he was a priest in Charleston, the suggestion he was intimately tied to more sodomistic satanic assaults by his buddy priests and the fresh charges of seminarians being sodomized by him and other clerics — again tied to satanic rituals — none of the plaintiffs in any of these cases knew each other or, before the days of social media, had any real way of knowing each other's stories."

Creation Moment 6/28/2019 - Your "universal mount"

ATP synthase is a rotary motor that generates 3 ATP per revolution.

"The engine of life shows more engineering finesse with each new discovery.
ATP synthase is surely one of the most amazing molecular machines .......Tiny but mighty, this rotary engine that runs on protons released from the food we eat is incredibly efficient, fast, and complicated.

Being essential for all life, it challenges any kind of step-wise evolutionary origin. But for years, scientists wondered about a mismatch between its two halves.

The motor consists of two parts, called F₀ (which rotates powered by proton motive force), and F₁ (where ATP is synthesized, yielding 3 ATP per revolution).
The puzzling mismatch comes from the number of units in these two halves.
Different species of ATP synthase have 8 to 17 “c subunits” in F₀ (usually 10 to 12) that make up the carousel that rotates and turns the “gamma” central stalk, which acts like a camshaft connecting the two parts.
The F₁ part, though, has three pairs of two units. For every complete rotation of F₀, with a corresponding rotation of the camshaft, three ATP are produced in F₁.

Why is there not a nice integer division between the two?

How can 11 c subunits in F₀ correspond to 3 ATP molecules in F₁? Is there some slippage in the mechanism?

A new paper in Science Magazine sheds more light on this puzzle. In “Rotary substates of mitochondrial ATP synthase reveal the basis of flexible F₁-F_o coupling,” Murphy et al. address the issue: “An enduring question is how the stoichiometrically mismatched c ring in F_o (composed of 8 to 17 c subunits) and the three-fold symmetric F₁ head are efficiently coupled.” The paper summary announces a reason for this mismatch that makes ATP synthase appear more and more like a “well-oiled machine”—

They solved high-resolution cryo–electron microscopy structures of the ATP synthase complex, extracting 13 rotational substates. This collection of structures revealed that the rotation of the F_o ring and central stalk is coupled with partial rotations of the F₁ head. This flexibility may enable the head to better couple continuous rotation with discrete ATP synthesis events.

In other words, there is a slight rotation of the F₁ head that not only synchronizes the two halves, but may actually contribute to the motor’s productivity. For those who like jargon,

We find that the F₁ head rotates together with the central stalk and c ring through approximately 30°, or one c subunit, at the beginning of each 120° step. Flexible coupling of the F₁ head to the F_o motor is mediated primarily by a hinge at the interdomain link of the oligomycin sensitivity–conferring protein (OSCP) subunit that joins the F₁ head to the peripheral stalk. The extended two-helix bundle of the central stalk γ subunit interacts with the catch-loop region of one β subunit of the F₁ head. The resulting mechanism of flexible coupling is likely to be conserved [i.e., unevolved] in other F₁-F_o ATP synthases. Our results provide much-needed context to a wealth of published data indicating that OSCP is a hub of metabolic control in the cell.

This is an elegant design. It basically provides an interface between disparate parts, like a human-engineered”universal mount” with a flexible connector that can work with different models. The authors summarize this as follows:

In ATP synthases, the F₁ catalytic head can accompany the rotor through a rotation of ~30° at the beginning of each ~120° step. This movement allows flexible coupling of F₁ and F_o. The interdomain hinge of OSCP facilitates flexible coupling and makes this subunit an apposite [def. “suitable; well-adapted; pertinent; relevant; apt”] point for the regulation of ATP synthesis.

In addition, the authors found a metal ion (probably Zn⁺²) that may be involved in translating the proton flow into a torque. That’s another mysterious aspect of ATP synthase: how does a flow of protons actually turn the F₀ motor?
It’s been hard to tell, because that part of the engine is embedded in the membrane. They conclude, “A conserved [unevolved] metal ion in the proton access channel may synchronize c-ring protonation with rotation.”

Needless to say, the authors did not mention “evolution” in the paper.

ATP synthase is a molecular machine you can use to “wow” your friends. “Did you know that you are running on rotary engines?” In simple terms, describe this waterwheel-like action that runs a mechanism that snaps ATP together, making 3 ATP per revolution. Tell them it is one of the most efficient engines ever discovered, but add that it is on the order of billionths of a meter in size. Tell them the protons come from the food you just ate, and that quadrillions of these little engines are spinning at over 6,000 RPM inside you right now. It might lead to some lively discussions about origins."

"Catholic girls’ schools in Brisbane, Australia, have started using gender-neutral language to help students connect with God.
According to Brisbane newspaper the Sunday Mail, elite Catholic schools including All Hallows, Stuartholme and Loreto College are avoiding words like “father,” “son” and “Lord” in prayers and teaching.

 Stuartholme girls’ school has adjusted prayers and hymns to replace the word “himself” with “Godself.”
Pupils at All Hallows school refer to “the Creator, Jesus and the Holy Spirit” when making the sign of the cross, in place of the traditional “the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

Andrea Dean, director of the Catholic Office for the Participation of Women, told the Sunday Mail she was “thrilled” about the schools practicing gender-neutral prayer.

“It’s terrific that they’re sensitive to the implications of how God is named. God is not of any gender. In the times the scripture was written [Lord and Father] were terms of honor – most of the terms of honor were related to men,” she said.
Australian Christian lobbyist Lyle Shelton responded to the news saying: “This is further evidence of the agenda of those who sought to ‘de-gender’ marriage – now they want to de-gender religion.
In Christian theology, God expresses himself as a father in the male gender. The scriptures clearly explain God to us as a father.”

Look at the headlines: “Dogs evolved a special muscle that lets them make puppy dog eyes,” says New Scientist. A casual reader will start having visions of Darwin.

Human selection has resulted in dogs evolving more

expressive faces. They have a facial muscle for making the “puppy dog eyes” that melt many peoples’ hearts that does not exist in wolves – the ancestors of dogs.
This muscle allows dogs to lift up their inner “eyebrow”, which makes their eye look larger. This makes them look more like childlike and also rather sad – the puppy dog eyes look.
It really does make dogs more appealing to us. In 2013, Juliane Kaminski at the University of Portsmouth and colleagues videotaped dogs interacting with strangers at a shelter to see what made them more likely to be adopted.

And yet this is clearly a case of artificial selection, what the writer called “human selection.” People caused the change, just like they did with all the other extreme attributes in dogs. Collies have long snouts; bulldogs have short snouts. Dachshunds have short legs, greyhounds have long legs. “Kaminski thinks this muscle evolved because people favored dogs that make this expression.” The misleading headline says that “dogs evolved” this change.

The “evolutionary pressure,” though, was caused by humans – not by unguided nature. The scientists admit that humans can cause changes like this in a very short time.
That’s exactly what happened with all the other dog breeds, from pit bulls to poodles. Humans select the traits they desire for various purposes: huskies for sledding, greyhounds for racing, sheepdogs for herding sheep. Intentional breeding can cause major changes in short order.
New Scientist claims that the muscle that lifts the eyes “does not exist in wolves – the ancestors of dogs.” But the press release says it does not “consistently exist” in wolves. If it exists, humans can accentuate it throw artificial selection. That’s intelligent design, not Darwinian evolution. No new genetic information was created out of nothing."

"Norway's Princess Martha Louise, the oldest child of King Harald and Queen Sonja, believes she has found ‘love’ in Los Angeles.
Apparently, she has fallen for an occultist who goes by the name of Shaman Durek.  His real name is Durek Verrett.

Durek Verrett calls himself a shaman, which is supposed to be a person who holds the supernatural abilities of invoking, communicating and controlling spirits of dead animals or other otherworldly entities, which are located in a spirit world.  It is basically supposed to be real magic.
This ‘shaman’ (and it is a real shame) also claims to be raised Seventh-day Adventist.
