The harsh reality-- Members of the LGBTQ+ community are often murdered in Gaza and other Palestinian areas such as Ramallah.

The encounter, which unfolded at a “Queer Storytime for Palestine” event organized by the Valley Families for Palestine group in Amherst last week, had gone viral by Thursday as outrage mounted.

“Today what we’re going to do is shout ‘Free Palestine.’ Can I hear that?” the drag queen, known as “Lil Miss Hot Mess,” was filmed telling the children in the 30-second clip.
“If you’re a drag queen and you know it, and you really want to show it, if you’re a drag queen and you know it, shout ‘Free Palestine.'”
The kids could be heard mimicking the drag queen by repeatedly chanting, “Free Palestine.”

--Furious critics were quick to point out the hypocrisy of a drag queen touting the phrase given the harsh treatment of LGBTQ people in Gaza.

Creation Moment 4/27/2024 - Deceitfulness of scientism

"Believers in scientism flaunt the virtue of science as being a “self-correcting process.” They portray the scientific method as approaching an asymptotic limit, where each correction brings the scientist, while unable to claim absolute truth, at least closer and closer to the truth. 

Q: But what if science in practice is more like Brownian motion? 

Q: And to what extent do human frailties factor into the view of self-correction? 

Let’s look at some recent science news to flesh out these questions.

Proof of biased behavior of Normalized Mutual Information (Mahmoudi and Jemielniak, Nature Scientific Reports, 19 April 2024). For those willing to wade through pages of abstruse derivations, this paper claims to have proved that a widely-used method for assessing community networks is inherently biased and misleading. This is not a small matter:

"Community detection (CD) within social networks has emerged as a pivotal area of research, given its potential to unravel intricate patterns of interaction and group dynamics. It is used in many

disciplines, including biology, criminology, economics, and urban planning, to mention just a few examples. In particular, this topic has also emerged as a critical field in the battle against disinformation. Social networks are often the primary conduits for the spread of disinformation, with communities within these networks playing a significant role in the dissemination and amplification of misleading content. By identifying and understanding these communities, we can gain valuable insights into the dynamics of disinformation spread, enabling more effective interventions. It is essential, as the rapid spread of medical, political, social, as well as scientific misinformation and disinformation are among the greatest civilization challenges of our times."

This means that one of the primary sources of scientific data leading to policies of censorship in social media has come from a flawed method of detecting mis/disinformation! 

Consider the irony: NMI (normalized mutual information) has been used to evaluate the source and spread of disinformation – but the method itself produces disinformation!

"A disturbing new report from the United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) adds to growing concerns about global leaders pushing to normalize pedophilia. 

The report “The 8 March Principles for a Human Rights-Based Approach to Criminal Law Proscribing Conduct Associated with Sex, Reproduction, Drug Use, HIV, Homelessness and Poverty” on the UNAIDS website offers legal guidance on issues related to sex, including involving children under age 18. Without any discussion about what the age of consent should be, the report suggests minors can consent to having sex with an adult.

“Sexual conduct involving persons below the domestically prescribed minimum age of consent to sex may be consensual in fact, if not in law,” the report states.....It also advises lawyers, judges and law enforcement to consider “the rights and capacity of persons under 18 years of age to make decisions about engaging in consensual sexual conduct and their right to be heard in matters concerning them” when considering enforcement of laws about sex with minors.

The report continues: “Pursuant to their evolving capacities and

progressive autonomy, persons under 18 years of age should participate in decisions affecting them, with due regard to their age, maturity and best interests, and with specific attention to non-discrimination guarantees.”....In other words the report calls for sex between adults and minors to be decriminalized, so long as the minors ‘consent’ … Minors, of course, cannot truly consent to sex with an adult — something these so-called experts should know. The forward to the report was written by a “proudly gay” lawyer, Edwin Cameron of South Africa, who argued that laws about sex can make people feel ostracized because of their sexual behavior."

Creation Moment 4/25/2024 - RNA World hypothesis Falls Apart

"Leading origin-of-life researcher Gerald Joyce recently published a scientific paper in PNAS, “RNA-catalyzed evolution of catalytic RNA,” that purportedly showcases a breakthrough that he and his team achieved in understanding how life could have originated through natural processes. The Washington Post describes the research in an article titled “‘Monumental’ experiment suggests how life on Earth may have started.” They say:
"The scientists overcame perhaps the greatest barrier to the plausibility of the RNA World theory. Up to now, no RNA molecule in the lab had succeeded in making copies of another RNA that were both sufficiently accurate and functional."

Unfortunately, the lauding of Joyce’s research in this and similar puff pieces is pure hype. Joyce’s results only further demonstrate the

absolute necessity of intelligent agency in life’s origin.
Many origins researchers have been guided by the RNA World hypothesis that Joyce describes as follows:
At the outset, RNA replication is likely to have occurred as a non-enzymatic process by which RNA templates were copied to yield complementary strands, which in turn were copied to yield additional copies of the starting templates. Sequence variation would have arisen due to imperfect copying fidelity, and those variants that replicated most efficiently would have grown to dominate the population, until new variants with even greater fitness arose. At some point during the early history of RNA-based evolution, it is thought that RNA evolved the ability to catalyze its own replication, acting as an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase.

The basic logic is that nucleotides formed on the early earth and then linked together into long chains known as RNA. Some RNA served

as templates that were “copied” (i.e., transcribed) by other RNA known as polymerases to form the template RNAs’ complementary sequences. 

For instance, AAUUCCGG would be transcribed into the reverse of UUAAGGCC, which is CCGGAAUU. The sequence is reversed due to the structure of RNA. The complementary sequences were then transcribed back into new copies of the original RNA templates. Over time, some RNA evolved the ability to perform biologically useful functions; such catalytic RNA are termed ribozymes. Eventually, an RNA molecule evolved the ability to accurately copy itself.

Joyce’s Experiment
Joyce’s team and other researchers have attempted to reconstruct this scenario experimentally. Bartel and Szostak (1993) generated a large pool of random RNA sequences and then isolated RNA ligases –

RNA that join two RNA molecules. Joyce and other researchers started with an RNA ligase and applied 52 rounds of “directed evolution” to generate RNA that could copy other RNA (i.e., polymerases). Most rounds included generating trillions of variants with randomly altered nucleotides and then selecting the RNA that most accurately and quickly transcribed RNA templates. Some rounds included adding additional nucleotides to the sequence.

In the latest study, Joyce and his team started with the 52-round polymerase and then applied an additional 18 rounds of modifications. The new polymerase could transcribe a hammerhead ribozyme and its complement with approximately 90 percent accuracy. Hammerhead ribozymes break an RNA molecule into two fragments. The investigators used the polymerase to generate copies of the hammerhead ribozyme and then isolated and reproduced those copies that functioned. The ribozymes remained functional after several generations of copying, so the investigators claimed to have demonstrated that a system of RNAs could persist through Darwinian evolution.

The Washington Post article asserts:

"Although the experiments in the new paper took two years, it has taken Joyce and his colleagues closer to 10 years to set the stage, patiently raising generation upon generation of RNA molecules. Should the scientists succeed in generating an RNA that can copy itself, evolution could then proceed largely on its own."

*The truth is again the exact opposite of what is claimed.
Generating the latest polymerase required investigator intervention at every step:

--The investigators started with high concentrations of ultrapure

nucleotide triphosphates (i.e., activated nucleotides). Rice University professor of chemistry James Tour has detailed the implausibility of nucleotides originating on the early Earth in even a miniscule fraction of the concentration and purity required to generate long RNA.
--The investigators generated the polymerases at each step by linking nucleotides using the machinery of modern cells. The latest polymerase is 182 nucleotides in length. Yet RNA composed of even a few dozen nucleotides could not have emerged on the early Earth since nucleotides would far more likely have bound to other molecules than to each other.
--Joyce’s team, not nature, selected after each round of modifications the polymerases that best performed the target function.
The polymerases could only transcribe template RNAs if primers were added that initiated the replication process. A primer is a

specific sequence of nucleotides that binds to the end of an RNA template. A polymerase starts with the primer and continues to add nucleotides to it until the complementary RNA is completed.
The replication process required careful orchestration of the experimental conditions including adjustments in temperature and the addition of the right supporting molecules at the right time. All such experiments require precise protocols.
Each round of modifications started with polymerases and primers in concentrations corresponding to tens of trillions of RNA per milliliter of water. If the concentration dropped below a million RNA per milliliter, the rate at which RNA decomposed would greatly exceed the rate at which RNA was copied. All polymerases would degrade long before even a tiny fraction of the templates was copied.

--Expanding on the last point, an upper bound to the concentration threshold for maintaining RNA replication directly follows from Joyce’s experimental procedure. The average time required for the polymerases to replicate a template was over one hour, and the half-life for the bonds connecting the nucleotides in RNA is on the order of years. Since polymerases are over 100 nucleotides in length, nearly all of them would break apart within a few months. The copy rate scales linearly with polymerase concentration, so the starting concentration could not drop below a billion polymerases per milliliter before the replication rate dropped below the degradation rate. A million RNA per milliliter greatly underestimates the threshold, but the probability of even a dozen polymerases residing within the same milliliter of water at any time in Earth’s history is beyond remote.

To summarize, polymerases could only have emerged on the early Earth if Joyce’s team and his laboratory were transported back in time to direct the entire process. 

Death Blow to RNA World
--Ironically, even ignoring all these challenges, Joyce’s experiment still does not support the plausibility of the RNA World hypothesis. 

--Instead, it completely discredits it. 

The probability for an RNA to form of a certain length decreases

exponentially with the length. The hammerhead ribozyme is only 34 nucleotides while polymerase ribozymes are significantly longer than 100 nucleotides. In general, ribozymes that destroy RNA can be much smaller than ribozymes that copy RNA, so they are far more likely to appear through any RNA generating process.

In addition, 

--Joyce’s latest polymerase transcribed RNA with an accuracy of approximately 90 percent per nucleotide. Joyce demonstrated that this fidelity is sufficient to maintain multiple generations of functional hammerhead ribozymes. 

--But an accuracy of over 97 percent is required to maintain functional polymerases. This result further demonstrates that destructive RNA is far easier to generate than polymerases. Leading origins expert Steven Benner calls this challenge the probability paradox. Any random library of RNA would include far more destructive RNA than polymerases. Consequently, even if a system of replicating RNA miraculously appeared, the polymerases would quickly disappear, and every RNA would then degrade into simpler molecules.

If the Washington Post author fully understood Joyce’s research, he would have summarized it more like the following:
"Gerald Joyce’s latest research conclusively overturns the RNA World hypothesis. It demonstrates that the origin of RNA that can copy other RNA requires starting with conditions that could never have occurred on the early Earth and enacting carefully

orchestrated experimental procedures that would have no parallel in nature. His team had to employ the molecular machinery of modern cells to constantly create new RNA, and they had to select and copy those RNA that performed target functions. Even after over ten years of carefully engineering an RNA that could copy other RNAs, that RNA could only effectively copy RNAs that broke apart other RNAs. It could not copy itself with sufficient accuracy for functional copiers to persist for more than a few generations. Joyce’s results demonstrate that no evolving systems of RNAs could ever have existed. Leading origins researcher Lee Cronin would likely classify any claim that such research could help explain life’s origin as a “scam.”

Without any evidence, Penrose postulates an infinite sequence of expanding universes, arguing that after infinite time, an infinitely expanded universe would become spatially equivalent to the singularity representing the big bang of a subsequent universe. 

In a conversation with Brian Keating and Justin Brierley, Stephen Meyer critiques the Penrose proposal, citing other cosmologists to conclude that “Penrose is just speculating,” invoking a physical field with “god-like properties.” 

Penrose tips his hand with a statement that reveals his personal motivation to avoid a true beginning to the universe: “There’s something within us all that would like an eternal universe.”

Flood Sequence: From Rains to Disembarkment

"In Genesis, Chapter 7, the Flood initiates with the bursting of the fountains of the great deep on day 1 with the Floodwaters progressively rising until they reached the Ark on day 40 (Johnson and Clarey, 2021). 

--The first 40 days of the Flood were largely responsible for the

sedimentary deposition of marine ecosystems and involved the initial mega sequences of the Sauk (Cambrian, Lower Ordovician), Tippecanoe (Mid-Upper Ordovician, Silurian), and Kaskaskia (Devonian, Mississippian, and Pennsylvanian). 

--At about day 40, we not only get the floating of the Ark, but the initial burial of tropical coastal land ecosystems which initiate the global sedimentation of progressively higher and more inland environments in the Absaroka and Zuni Mega sequences (Clarey, 2020a). 

--Continental separation of the pre-Flood Pangea mega continent begins to accelerate about the middle of the Absaroka Mega sequence (beginning of Triassic) and then continues through the Zuni (late-Jurassic and Cretaceous) (Clarey, 2020a). 

--The Flood peaks at the end of Genesis 7 with the high-water mark being about day 150 where all the highest hills were covered with at least 15 cubits of water (about 22.5–30 feet) represented by the top of the Zuni Mega sequence corresponding to just above the top of the Cretaceous System (Johnson and Clarey, 2021)....., it should be noted that one of the most critical parts of the global Flood occurs during Genesis 8:1–12 (Tomkins, 2023). 

This would be called the receding phase in which huge amounts of Floodwater runoff occurred globally off the newly separated continents. This action was facilitated by the rapid uplift of mountain ranges such as those which occurred during the formation of the Rocky Mountains in North America and the Andes in South America. 

*In fact, the receding phase of the global Flood is so important, that the most recent stratigraphic analysis of six continents indicates that 32.5% of the total global volume of the fossil-bearing geological column (Phanerozoic) is composed of Flood runoff deposits known as the Tejas Mega sequence (Clarey and Werner, 2023). 

--It is noteworthy that the final receding phase of the Flood being represented in Tertiary rocks... The Genesis Flood, in which they

state: “In general, the record of the entire Tertiary [including Neogene] and early Quaternary…can be reasonably interpreted as preserving the record of the last phases of the Flood, including both the final deposits and geomorphic phenomena related to the [orogenic] rising of the lands and sinking of the [oceanic] basins that terminated the inundation.” The receding final phase of the Flood not only has strong significance for explaining the vast amount of sediments in the Tejas, but it also affects the critical paradigm of where the end of the Flood exists in the rock record.
--One such proposition is the unpublished claim by early Flood/post-Flood (K-Pg) boundary advocates that much of the post-Flood Middle East remained flooded and impassible to human dispersal (and presumably most animals too) for about 200 years after the Ark landed. 

--The basic idea is that Noah, his family, and the Ark-borne animals remained in the mountains of Ararat for about 200 years while the waters continued to drain from Syria, Iraq, and Turkey. Then, presumably, once the region dried out enough to allow travel, Noah and his sons and their descendants traveled from the east to the Plain of Shinar and built Babel. 

In 2008 Barrick speculates (p. 275), “In essence, the Flood itself had ended when the surface of the ground was free of water on the 315th day. However, that does not mean that the waters had receded to pre-Flood levels. The water level may have remained significantly elevated for decades or even centuries.” 

Q: But does the Hebrew text of the Genesis 8 narrative which covers this subject support the contention that after the Ark landed, the Middle East was still too wet to travel or does it indicate that it was dry enough to disperse according to God’s commandment given directly to Noah in Genesis 8:15–17?: 

“Then God spoke to Noah, saying, ‘Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you. Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you: birds and cattle and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, so that they may abound on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.’” 

While the clear directive given by God to Noah would seem evidence enough to answer this question......Like Genesis 1 and many other parts of the Old Testament, Genesis 8:13–22 is Hebrew narrative giving historical truth, not poetry or mytho-history (Johnson, 2011; Drake, 2020; Tomkins, 2021b). 

*This fact is distinctly defined by the Hebrew grammar where the majority of the verbal forms occur in what is known as a waw-

consecutive in which the verb is prefixed by the letter waw and the verb itself is in the imperfect tense. This waw + imperfect tense grammatical construct effectively changes the normal imperfect tense (uncompleted action) into a perfect tense (completed action), hence the less-used term waw-conversive. 

While some Old Testament scholars question the regularity of this verbal rule, Pratico and Van Pelt (2019, p. 181) state, “Though the terminology ‘past tense narrative sequence’ is not commonly used, the term is descriptive of how the Imperfect with Waw Consecutive functions in narrative.” 

Thus, these verbal forms consecutively and repeatedly describe completed historical events in the obvious historical narrative of Genesis.

Genesis 8:13 “And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.”

Genesis 8:14 “And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.” 

At this point, Noah, his family, and the Ark’s creatures have been inside the Ark for a little over a year at 371 days, and another 57 days have passed since Noah removed the covering from off the Ark and actually observed the dryness of the face of the ground. 

Noah is still being extremely cautious and awaiting the command of God to leave the Ark. 

And quite significantly, the earth is now fully dry enough for disembarking the Ark and its living contents disbursing throughout the Earth.

--In all likelihood, these 57 additional days of waiting on the Ark had a definite practical purpose. 

--It allowed vegetation time to germinate and grow on the previously dried-out surface. Rain after the Flood would have probably displaced the saltier Floodwater deeper into the subsurface and out of the topsoil layers—allowing plants to grow and mature quickly after the Flood. This new growth provided food for the disembarked animals to feed on as they exited."

Purpose of your "Vapor" of Time

"The Scripture has defined it: the word of God has named it, not in a figure, but in a statement of truth in answer to the ever-pertinent inquiry, “What is your life?” And you know the answer. “It is even A VAPOR, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” James 4:14.

This life which we have is truly only a vapor. 

It is given merely as a breath,—“for a little time,”—in order to extend to us the opportunity to seize upon life indeed. 

--Without this life which is but a vapor, we should have no opportunity, man himself anywhere never would have had any opportunity, to partake of life indeed.

The word that Jesus spoke, therefore, is literally true,—true in every sense,—when He spoke of Himself as “the living bread which came down from heaven,” and “giveth life unto the world.” 

For all the life that the world has to-day, is because the Lord Jesus gave Himself to receive the stroke of death that otherwise must have come upon the man at the beginning, because of the sin that he had sinned.

"Pope Francis warned that "dark clouds" are gathering over

humanity. He emphasized that these threats are global and pose a significant challenge, stressing the importance of "sowing day by day those seeds of peace". 

"Today’s challenges, and especially the risks that, like dark clouds, gather above us, threatening our future, have also become global," Francis said during a meeting in the Vatican.

Francis highlighted that these challenges "enter human community" and require "courage and creativity of a collective dream". This dream is key to fostering a consistent commitment to address our planet's environmental, economic, political, and social crises."

Creation Moment 4/21/2024 - Tampering with Tgfbr1

"A recent news article detailed an experiment by developmental biologist Moisés Mallo and his colleagues who were studying a receptor protein important in embryonic development—Tgfbr1. The article states, 

"The team inactivated the gene responsible for producing the protein in mouse embryos that were around the halfway point of development, intending to investigate how this change affected the developing spinal cord.

Instead, they found something unexpected: one of the bioengineered embryos had two extra legs where its genitals should be."

Tgfbr1 (transforming growth factor-beta receptor type 1) plays a key role in controlling the formation of the external genitalia and hind limbs. According to the article,

"The researchers discovered that Tgfbr1 helps dictate whether these structures become either genitals or limbs. It does this, they realized,

by altering the way that DNA folds in the structure’s cells. As a result, deactivation of the protein changes the expression of other genes – in this strange case, at least, that meant additional limbs and no genitalia.The identification of chromatin elements uniquely associated with hindlimb and GT [genital] fates might guide the search for the molecular signature that specifies hindlimb or GT development. The large number of elements in each group suggest that these signatures might be quite complex, likely involving the combined activity of several factors. Identification of those factors will be challenging, considering that in mammals enhancers are typically located far from the genes they regulate, which are often not even the closest transcription unit."

*It should be no surprise that the created genetics (and associated regulatory processes) of animal and human embryos are complex and if tinkered with will create disabling, harmful, or fatal consequences. 

*God created each creature to be able to reproduce according to its kind, which necessitates that their embryos develop normally. Yes, because we live in a fallen world, there are harmful mutations which sometimes creep in, but these are very small percentages. When was the last time you saw a six-legged mouse (or squirrel or deer) in the wild?

Yes, God has woven “remarkable tissue plasticity” into embryonic development. But this has nothing to do with evolution, which was what the researchers were attempting to prove. 

It does however have everything to do with God, the common Designer of all animal and human life."

"It turns out there’s a huge supply of water 400 miles underground stored in rock known as 'ringwoodite'.

Scientists previously discovered that water is stored inside mantle rock in a sponge-like state, which isn’t a liquid, solid or a gas, but instead a fourth state.

The scientific paper titled ‘Dehydration melting at the top of the lower mantle’ laid out the findings. "The ringwoodite is like a sponge, soaking up water, there is something very special about the crystal structure of ringwoodite that allows it to attract hydrogen and trap water," said geophysicist Steve Jacobsen at the time.

"This mineral can contain a lot of water under conditions of the deep mantle,” added Jacobsen. He added: "I think we are finally seeing

evidence for a whole-Earth water cycle, which may help explain the vast amount of liquid water on the surface of our habitable planet. Scientists have been looking for this missing deep water for decades."

From that, they were able to establish that the water was being held in the rock known as ringwoodite.

If the rock contained just 1 per cent water, it would mean that there is three times more water under the surface of the Earth than there is in the oceans on the surface.

It’s not the only significant discovery made by scientists recently, either. In fact, researchers found an entirely new ecosystem when turning over volcanic crust with the aid of an underwater robot, showing that even now, nature has many more secrets to unearth."
