"Saudi leaders have reached out to religious representatives from the Catholic community and agreed to allow the construction of Christian houses of worship. Many believe this is a calculated effort to transform Saudi Arabia’s image from one of religious austerity and intolerance to a more open and
modern one.
While this new political development is unexpected, Bible students need not be surprised by such developments. The book of Revelation reveals that someday soon, there will be massive worldwide support for a new, manmade system of religion.
Of course, whether this particular event is a fulfillment of prophecy or only a temporary political strategy, no one can say, but the decision by Saudi princes is certainly in line with the prophetic record. “I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast” (Revelation 13:3).
This is not an isolated event, either, as many nations and even Protestant Churches are attempting to build bridges with the Roman religious power.
God’s Word explains how such events will play out: “All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (Revelation 13:8)." ST
