A Case Study of how Sin has a terrible Ripple Effect across Society. And the mess created by human wisdom in response.
In this case it is the seeds of SIN in the hearts rooted in the LGBT lifestyle of the sons of Belial.
But one can apply the same Lessons to any SIN--from the Ripple Effects of one alcoholic parent setting courses by abusing child and spouse across all society and around the globe---or the selfish uncontrolled anger that rashly lashes out leading to a series of events in motion---or the murder of an archduke in Sarajevo in 1914--- or a young priest in training in an Orthodox seminary reading the class warfare/coveting of Das Kapital and the Rebellion/pseudo-intellectual attacks on Genesis 1 in Origin of the Species secretly at night and flees to join the Bolshevik Revolution becoming known to history as Stalin, etc..
All this SIN, Rebellion against God and Criminality at every spot on earth Ripples for generations --- now you know why there is Pain, Suffering and Death....so QUIT BLAMING GOD FOR MAN'S OWN CHOICES AND THE RESULTS THEREOF.
I. The trek to get back the concubine.
Judges 19:1-15 .....a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah....And his concubine played the whore against him, and went away from him unto her father's house...And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak friendly unto her, and to bring her again...
II. The old man's kindness.
Judges 19:16-21 .... there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which was also of mount Ephraim.... And the old man said, Peace be with thee; howsoever let all thy wants lie upon me; only lodge not in the street....
III. The Bi-Sexual men of Belial's Sinful hearts---leads to a Rape.
Judges 19:22-25 ....sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the
door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring
forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him..Nay, my brethren, nay, I pray you, do not so wickedly; ...so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they
knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning...
IV. The Rape leads to a Death.
Judges 19:26-28 ...And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house,
and went out to go his way: and, behold, the woman his concubine was
fallen down at the door of the house, and her hands were upon the threshold. And he said unto her, Up, and let us be going. But none answered.
V. The Gruesome Announcement.
Judges 19:29-30, 20:1-11 ...he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, together with her bones, into twelve pieces, and sent her into all the coasts of Israel. There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt unto this day.
VI. Benjamin refuses to punish the wicked ones responsible.
Judges 20:12-14 ...Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of Belial, which are
in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from
Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of
their brethren...
VII. Support for the Wicked Criminal element leads to a near Genocide of Benjamin--placing tribe/culture ahead of obedience to God.Judges 20:15-48/21:1-8 ......And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.
VIII. Leading to a complete Genocide of Jabeshgilead by the Israelites following their own human wisdom.
Judges 21:9-18 ......And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the valiantest,
and commanded them, saying, Go and smite the inhabitants of
Jabeshgilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the
children....And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young
virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought
them unto the camp to Shiloh...
IX. Which leads to a mass Kidnapping.
Judges 21:19-24 ....Behold, there is a feast of the LORD in Shiloh yearly in a place....Therefore they commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards;...And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in
dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his
wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.
X. The Lesson:
Judges 21:25 .... In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
The Results of removing God and His absolutes and replacing with the shifting sands of opinions of man....and the failure of human wisdom to fully counter the ramifications by making some things worse.
