By the word of the LORD were the heavens made;
and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Psalm 33:6
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,
so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Hebrews 11:3
"According to Mormonism, creation ex nihilo (out of nothing) is not to be found in the Bible and is untrue: God created the universe out of matter that pre-existed, and ex nihilo creation is a invention of the apostasized post-Apostolic church. Within Mormon documents, the clearest statement of this doctrine is not found in any of the Standard Works, but in a quasi-official statement made by Joseph Smith upon the occasion of the funeral of fellow Mormon King Follett:Now I ask all who hear me why the learned men who are preaching salvation say that God created the heavens and the earth out of nothing. The reason is they are unlearned...God had materials to organize the world out of chaos, chaotic matter, which is element, and in which dwells all the glory. Element had an existence from the time He had. The pure principles of element are principles that can never be destroyed, they may be organized and reorganized but not destroyed." TEKTON Apologetics
What is the Mormon stance on the theory of evolution?
"The Church has no official position on evolution, and each member is entitled to his own personal views on the subject. In the evolution debate, difficulties have arisen when readers assume that statements by certain leaders represent an official position beyond that expressed by the First Presidency as a body. As expressed by David H. Bailey, a researcher at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory and author of numerous articles on the relationship between Mormonism and science,
- 'Indeed, our motto is “The glory of God is intelligence.” Why not just acknowledge that science and religion address two very different sets of questions, and that the methodology in one arena cannot settle controversies in the other?' Wikipedia
Paul spent time in the book of Romans writing about creation---including using it for evidence for God. Since Mormonism today seems to teach something other than what Paul taught---just another reason to stay away from Mormonism.
As we said before, so say I now again,
If any man preach any other gospel unto you
than that ye have received,
let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:9
