The Resurrection Series: Attack #1

Attack # 1 on the Resurrection:
"Christ's Disciples were Wrong"--- these people claim that Christ survived the beatings & crucifixion. That when He woke up & appeared to His followers they were mistaken about what had really happened to him.

 RESPONSE:
1) 1st & 2nd century unfriendly sources acknowledge Jesus was crucified, died & was buried.
(Babylonian Talmud, Josephus, Phlegon, Thallus, Tacitus, Mera Bar-Serapion)
2) The Roman guards faced death if someone from the sealed tomb escaped.
3) While spending most of the day on the cross He would be unable to control His blood loss.
4) Christ was observed to have wounds after He resurrected--but never behaved as if injured.
5) Jesus disappeared not long after His resurrection and reported ascension.

And said unto them,
Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations,
Luke 24:46,47

IN the NEWS - Ireland raises fist to God

"Ireland became the first country in the world to vote in favor of legalizing gay marriage Saturday after a resounding victory for “Yes” campaigners.
At final count, 62% voted in favor of legalizing gay marriage in the country, while 38% voted against it.
A celebratory mood had come over Dublin even before the official results were announced around 7 p.m. local time, with tallies for each constituency displayed on big screens to thousands watching from Dublin Castle’s sun-soaked central square.
The large crowd spontaneously broke into Ireland’s national anthem as they awaited the final tally."

The Resurrection Series: The Facts

4 Facts of the Resurrection
1) Christ was crucified on a cross & buried
2) Christ's tomb was EMPTY
3) His disciples believed they saw Him arisen from the dead
4) Christ's disciples were transformed & all but John went on to die a martyrs death as a result

As Paul testifies via Scripture down to us - After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
1 Corinthians 15:6

Footsteps of Paul: Before Festus

Now when Festus was come into the province,
after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.
Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul,
and besought him,
And desired favour against him,
that he would send for him to Jerusalem,
laying wait in the way to kill him.
But Festus answered,
that Paul should be kept at Caesarea,
and that he himself would depart shortly thither.
Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able,
go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.

And when he had tarried among them more than ten days,
he went down unto Caesarea;
and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about,
and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

       While he answered for himself,
Neither against the law of the Jews,
neither against the temple,
nor yet against Caesar,
have I offended any thing at all.

But Festus,
willing to do the Jews a pleasure,
answered Paul, and said,
Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

Then said Paul,
I stand at Caesar's judgment seat,
where I ought to be judged:
to the Jews have I done no wrong,
as thou very well knowest.
For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death,
I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me,
no man may deliver me unto them.
I appeal unto Caesar.

Then Festus,
when he had conferred with the council, answered,
Hast thou appealed unto Caesar?
unto Caesar shalt thou go.
Acts 25:1-12
"Thus it was that once more, because of hatred born of bigotry and self-righteousness, a servant of God was driven to turn for protection to the heathen. It was this same hatred that forced the prophet Elijah to flee for succor to the widow of Sarepta; and that forced the heralds of the gospel to turn from the Jews to proclaim their message to the Gentiles. And this hatred the people of God living in this age have yet to meet." Acts of the Apostles p.431 E.G.W.

Creation Moment 5/24/2015 - Information Theory (simplified)

Naturalists believe in
*matter
*energy
*laws of nature
*chance
-But- .... they deny anything "supernatural"...
So then where does
*will
*choice
*information
come from?

Information Theory states that messages are strings of symbols sent to a reciver.
Examples include-
*A-Z of the English alphabet (26 symbols)
*The DNA code of A,C,G,&T (4 symbols)
*The Binary code of 0 & 1 (2 symbols)

Dr. Kuppers defined life as MATTER + INFORMATION ... but where does this information come from?

TERMS:
UI (Universal Information) - according to Gitt, is "a symbolically encoded, abstractly represented message conveying
*the expected action(s) &
*the intended purposes(s)."
CIS (Coded Information System) - consisting of linked tools/machines that refine the outcomes so as to attain a specific goal of which the coded messages play a part between the 2 linked members.
NC (Necessary Condition) - 3 are required.....
NC 1- Set a abstract symbols
NC 2- Sequence of abstract symbols must be irregular
NC 3- Symbols must be recognizable & in the form of columns, rows, circles, spirals, etc.

Gitt believes that INFORMATION is always present when the following 5 hierarchal levels are observed in a system -
1) Syntax (symbols/grammar)
2) Statistics (signal/number of symbols)
3) Semantics (meaning)
4) Pragmatics (action)
5) Apobetics (purpose/result)
Gitt's 4 Scientific Laws of Information
SLI 1- A material entity cannot generate a non-material entity
SLI 2- UI is a non-material fundamental entity
SLI 3- UI cannot be created by statistical processes
SLI 4- UI can only be produced by an intelligent sender

Claude Shannon was the pioneer of Information Theory. He also was a proponent of the idea that entropy (loss of information) has to be taken into account for calculations. Maximum Entropy would result in being unable to know how the symbols/messages would show up to the receiver each time. And that Zero Entropy would indicate showing up to the receiver identical each time.
He believed you could do this by observing the frequency with which the symbol is generated in messages.

I will praise thee;
for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
Psalm 139:14

ARCHAEOLOGY: Suggestions???

"One of the earliest known copies of the Ten Commandments was written in soot on a strip of goatskin found among the trove of biblical material known as the Dead Sea Scrolls, widely considered to be one of the great archaeological finds of the 20th century.

Penned on parchment by an unknown scribe more than 2,000 years ago, the scroll fragment is one of humanity’s most precious document — and so fragile that its custodians rarely permit it to be moved from the secure vault where it rests in complete darkness.
But for 14 days over the next seven months, the Ten Commandments scroll, known to scholars as 4Q41, will make a rare public appearance at the Israel Museum as part of a new exhibit called “A Brief History of Humankind,” a show based on the international best-selling book by Israeli polymath Yuval Noah Harari.

The exhibit chronicles humanity’s narrative arc by pairing cutting-edge modern art from the museum’s extensive collection alongside the display of 14 artifacts: the earliest-dated stone tools; the earliest evidence of man-made fire; the earliest known evidence of a family burial; the world’s oldest complete sickle — plus the Ten Commandments. It ends with Albert Einstein’s handwritten 1912 manuscript for the Special Theory of Relativity, including the formula E=mc 2 .

Even if you consider a couple of the commandments — maybe the ones about coveting? — as more suggestions than rules, seeing the scroll provides a major wow, taking us as far back as we can get to Moses the lawgiver, who faith and tradition say brought God’s orders down from Mount Sinai to his people." Does this sound like a "rule" or a "suggestion"?

Nebuchadnezzar - Torn between God & Marduk

"Many scholars focus exclusively on Nebuchadnezzar’s
   devastations in Judah (2 Kings 24:10‑16; 25:1‑21; Jer. 39:10),
the setting up and worship of his golden image (Daniel 3),
or his pride in the beauty and impregnability of Babylon (Dan. 4:30),
as deserving of punishment. There is no complete record of Nebuchadnezzar’s sins and iniquities, although Daniel 4:27 suggests that he had some moral problems.

Nebuchadnezzar’s actions against Judah were actually commissioned by Yahweh the God of Judah (Jer. 25:9; 27:6; 43:10).

Nebuchadnezzar, wittingly or unwittingly, is the “servant” used by God to discipline the disobedient Judah.

It is God who delivered King Jehoiakim and the temple resources to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon (Dan. 1:2). In this instance, Nebuchadnezzar was simply an instrument used by God to carry out His will.
Nebuchadnezzar is attested as a servant of various deities on duplicate clay cylinders recovered from the ziggurat of Borsippa. The inscription on these cylinders is no doubt Neo‑Babylonian and archaic, and it reads:
        “Nebuchadnezzar,
king of Babylon,
the loyal shepherd,
the one permanently selected by Marduk,
the exalted ruler,
the one loved by Nabû,
the wise expert who is attentive to the ways of the gods,
the tireless governor,
the caretaker of Esagil and Ezida,
the foremost heir of Nabopolassar,
king of Babylon,
I,
when Marduk, my great lord,
duly created me to take care of him,
Nabû, the administrator of the totality of heaven and the netherworld,
put in my hands the just scepter.”

For reasons known only to him, he failed to build a relationship with the God who thus revealed Himself. The king accomplished God’s mission without making a personal commitment to this God. This failure created a relational problem between Nebuchadnezzar and the God he worked for. Unfortunately, his actions betray him. His words about God should have been matched by his life.

Nebuchadnezzar served at least two masters,
Yahweh and Marduk.
His allegiance was divided."

Creation Moment 5/23/2015 - 3 Areas of Evidence of a DESIGNER

Have we not all one father?
hath not one God created us?
Malachi 2:10
3 Areas of Evidence of a DESIGNER

1) Physics
Cosmologists have calculated the odds of a life-friendly universe appearing by chance are less than one part in 1010^123. That’s ten raised to a power of 10 with 123 zeros after it! The laws of the universe are specified in that they match the narrow band of parameters required for the existence of advanced life.  As an atheist cosmologist Fred Hoyle observed, “...a common sense interpretation of the facts suggests that a super intellect has monkeyed with physics, as well as with chemistry and biology.”

2) Origin of Life
Moreover, the coding regions of DNA exhibit sequential arrangements of bases that are necessary to produce functional proteins. In other words, they are highly specified with respect to the independent requirements of protein function and protein synthesis.  Thus, as nearly all molecular biologists now recognize, the coding regions of DNA possess a high “information content”—where “information content” in a biological context means precisely “complexity and specificity.” Even atheist zoologist Richard Dawkins concedes that “...biology is the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose.”

3) Biological Complexity
The myriad enzymes used in the process that converts the genetic information in DNA into proteins are themselves created by the process that converts DNA into proteins. Many fundamental biochemical systems won’t function unless their basic machinery is intact, so how does such complexity evolve via a “blind” and “undirected” Darwinian process of numerous, successive, slight modifications?
Since cellular language requires
an author,
and microbiological machines require an engineer,
and genetically encoded programs require a programmer,.....

Papal Notes - GREEN Religion looks to Pope

"Is climate change real or simply a baseless theory? It's an issue that has been the source of countless debates on all levels. Even more so now that the Pope's encyclical on the environment is set to be released this summer.

FELIPE CALDERON
Former President of Mexico
"It's an issue that needs to be highlighted. A moral authority like the Pope is needed to dot all the i's.”

Mexico's former president, Felipe Calderon, who serves as the Chair of the Global Commission on Economy and Climate, was one of the speakers who took part in a forum titled 'New Climate Economy.' It took place in Rome's Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. Politicians, business leaders and Church officials discussed why caring for the environment is not counterproductive to economic growth." RomeReports

COMMENTARY:
1- The Pope is a "moral authority", accepted by the world? If so, what does that say as it relates to Biblical prophecy?
2- "New Climate Economy"??? We have been saying here that this GREEN Religion could be used for bringing the world together to form an image to the beast, a counterfeit Sabbath.
....and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
Revelation 13:15

From Steve Wohlberg..... "Recently, Pope Francis announced that he would address climate change in an upcoming papal encyclical. Is it possible that a growing environmental crisis and the ‘common good’ will be used as an angle to promote so-called ‘moral’ legislation that will include an enforced day of rest? It could easily be argued that if one day (Sunday) in seven was universally observed as a no-work day, that the resulting reduction of pollution from factories, businesses, and automobiles could reduce global warming significantly. Sunday legislation could be attached as a ‘rider’ to a larger piece of legislation which those who discern the danger of religious laws would be hard-pressed to resist." AdVindicate

"Heretofore those who presented the truths of the third angel's message have often been regarded as mere alarmists. Their predictions that religious intolerance would gain control in the United States, that church and State would unite to persecute those who keep the commandments of God, have been pronounced groundless and absurd. It has been confidently declared that this land could never become other than what it has been, the defender of religious freedom. But as the question of enforcing Sunday observance is widely agitated, the event so long doubted and disbelieved is seen to be approaching, and the third message will produce an effect which it could not have had before." The Great Controversy p.605 E.G.W.

"Former President George W. Bush spoke at Southern Methodist University’s (SMU) commencement ceremony Saturday.
Here’s some quotes from the speech:

In our hearts we believe all are created equal under God. The liberty we prize is not America’s gift to the world, it is Almighty God’s gift to humanity.”

And finally, you can be hopeful because there is a loving God,” he said. “Whether you agree with that statement is your choice, it is not your government’s choice.”

It is essential to this nation’s future that we remember that the freedom to worship who we want, and how we want — or not to worship at all — is a core belief of our founding.”

I’ve made my choice,” he said. “I believe that the almighty’s grace and unconditional love will sustain you.” CP

"Ireland prime minister urges yes vote in gay marriage referendum
Enda Kenny pleads on live TV before Ireland becomes only country in the world where electorate will vote over same-sex marriage.
Ireland’s prime minister, Enda Kenny, has made a final plea for a yes vote in the referendum to legalise gay marriage.

The taoiseach told the Irish electorate on Wednesday night: “There is nothing to fear for voting for love and equality.”
Kenny made his plea on live television ahead of a broadcasting embargo imposed on all sides of same-sex marriage debate.
The republic is the only country in the world where the electorate will decide whether to make gay marriage legal. The country goes to the polls on Friday and the votes will be counted from Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, the pro-gay marriage campaign groups are claiming that a late surge in voter registration will boost the Yes cause. It has emerged that over the past weeks of the campaign more than 68,000 new voters have been added to the electoral register." TheGuardian

Creation Moment 5/22/2015 - William Whewell

Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven?

canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?
Job 38:33
"What is a “scientist”?  Why not ask the man who invented the word?  William Whewell (pronounced Hyool) coined the term scientist as a replacement for natural philosopher in 1833.  He himself was a scientist and a philosopher – and a theologian.  He had, furthermore, a most interesting interaction with Charles Darwin.

For chemists like Michael Faraday, he coined the words ion, anion, and cation; for physicists, the title physicist; and for geologists, the term catastrophism – which he defended against the views of Charles Lyell, which he called uniformitarianism.  A respectful critic of Lyell, Whewell pointed out the lack of evidence for his geological and evolutionary views.

Whewell is more remembered today, however, for his philosophy of science.  His two leading works
on this important subject were History of the Inductive Sciences (1837) and The Philosophy of the Inductive Sciences, Founded Upon Their History (1840, revised up to 1860).  He saw himself as a renovator of Francis Bacon’s method of induction.

Whewell argued that science was a historical activity by the human mind.  Its “truths,” therefore, could change over time.  He cast doubt on the strict correspondence theory of scientific truth.  Instead, he argued that scientific results are tentative and are judged by their utility, not their inherent objectivity.  In this, his views differed sharply from those of the astronomer John Herschel who, like Bacon, envisioned science as a march of progress toward the light of truth.  Whewell argued that the subjective human dimension of science can never be divorced from the objective, because everyone operates with presuppositions.  He called these fundamental ideas - Of note for our purposes is this excerpt: “we are able to have knowledge of the world because the Fundamental Ideas which are used to organize our sciences resemble the ideas used by God in his creation of the physical world.  The fact that this is so is no coincidence: God has created our minds such that they contain these same ideas.”  Our ideas, therefore, are mere shadows of those in the mind of God

Whewell was an Anglican clergyman almost all his life.  One of his books argued against the existence of extraterrestrial life, contrary to popular assumptions at the time.

Charles Darwin cited a quote from this work in the frontispiece of The Origin of Species in an attempt to add credibility to his theory of natural selection.  He quoted Whewell saying, “But with regard to the material world, we can at least go so far as this—we can perceive that events are brought about not by insulated interpositions of Divine power, exerted in each particular case, but by the establishment of general laws.”  In Janet Browne’s extensive biography of Darwin, she claims that this quote was “audaciously taken out of context… suggesting that God worked through general scientific laws rather than through direct intervention” (Charles Darwin: The Power of Place, p. 80).  The clear inference is that Whewell would never have condoned what Darwin was implying.(2)
In fact, on page 107, Browne refers to a contemporary anecdote that Whewell refused to allow The Origin in the Trinity College library.

And he criticized views of “transformism” (evolutionary common ancestry) and uniformitarianism based on the evidence.

He would strongly dispute the “warfare hypothesis” between science and religion.  And he would recommend science as a means to glorify God and stimulate appreciation of His handiwork.

Even the Bible itself (Genesis 8:22, Job 38:33, Ecclesiastes 3:1) speaks of the uniformity of natural processes – that’s why miracles, when they occur, are so extraordinary and generate astonishment.  No reputable Bible-believing creationist has claimed that nature requires ongoing intervention by God." Creation Moment 5/19/2015 - Dawkins Foolishness

I myself have seen a fool taking root,
Job 5:3 NIV
"Evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins took to Twitter on Thursday to proclaim that, though he makes it a habit not to hate ideological opponents, there’s an exception when it comes to young earth creationists who believe that God made the world thousands of years ago in a very short period of time.
I said I’d never despise individuals, just their views,” Dawkins wrote on Twitter. “But there are
limits, and YE Creationists who refuse to look at evidence pass mine.”
The responses to this proclamation were diverse, with some questioning why Dawkins would harbor hatred for those who merely share a differing view.
Dawkins also tweeted more specifically on Wednesday about his evolutionary views, once again linking humans to monkeys.
Modern monkeys are our cousins. We’re not descended from them. But we’re descended from ancestors which you could properly call monkeys,” Dawkins wrote. “We are African apes and we are descended (as are chimpanzees) from extinct African apes.”" TheBlaze

GOSPEL GEM: 1st Miracle

John 2:1-12
And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee;
and the mother of Jesus was there:
And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

And when they wanted wine,
the mother of Jesus saith unto him,
They have no wine.
Jesus saith unto her,
Woman, what have I to do with thee?
mine hour is not yet come.

His mother saith unto the servants,
Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

Jesus saith unto them,
Fill the waterpots with water.
And they filled them up to the brim.
And he saith unto them,
Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast.
And they bare it.

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine,
and knew not whence it was:
(but the servants which drew the water knew;)
the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine;
and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse:
but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee,
and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
After this he went down to Capernaum,
he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples:
and they continued there not many days.

Paths From Babel: Who were the Minoans?

Therefore is the name of it called Babel;

because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth:
and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
Genesis 11:9

"Crete’s Minoan civilization has long been considered Europe’s first great Bronze Age society. The floruit of the Minoan civilization, which spread across Crete in the third millennium B.C.

Who were the Minoans? Despite their celebrated legacy, the Minoan civilization remains shrouded in mystery. We do not know what language was spoken on Crete, and the scripts of the early Minoan

civilization—Cretan Hieroglyphs and Linear A—have eluded translation attempts for over a century.

Sir Arthur Evans claimed that the ancestors of the Minoan civilization came from North Africa, but more recent scholars have suggested dozens of additional forefathers for the Minoan population. On May 14, 2013, Nature Communications published the study “A European population in Minoan Bronze Age Crete,” analyzing mitochondrial DNA from Minoan osseous tissue found in caves at the Cretan Lassithi plateau. It suggests that the Minoan civilization was comprised of local Europeans rather than outsiders. The Greek and American research team writes that “Our data are compatible with the hypothesis of an autochthonous development of the Minoan civilization by the descendants of the Neolithic settlers of the island” and that “shared haplotypes, principal component and pairwise distance analyses refute the Evans North African hypothesis.” BiblicalArchaeologyReview

Footsteps of Paul: Felix Trembles

And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul,
and to let him have liberty,
and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.
And after certain days,
when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess,
he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.

And as he reasoned of righteousness,
                                   temperance,
                                       and judgment to come,

Felix trembled,

and answered, Go thy way for this time;
when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul,
that he might loose him:
wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.
But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room:
and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.
Acts 24:23-27
"So violent and cruel had been the course of Felix that few had ever before dared even to intimate to him that his character and conduct were not faultless. But Paul had no fear of man. He plainly declared his faith in Christ, and the reasons for that faith, and was thus led to speak particularly of those virtues essential to Christian character, but of which the haughty pair before him were so strikingly destitute. He held up before Felix and Drusilla the character of God--His righteousness, justice, and equity, and the nature of His law. He clearly showed that it is man's duty to live a life of sobriety and temperance, keeping the passions under the control of reason, in conformity to God's law, and preserving the physical and mental powers in a healthy condition." Acts of the Apostles p.423 E.G.W.

Creation Moment 5/17/2015 - 'Days" in the Bible

Evening +Morning + Numeric = "Day", a 24 hour period.....

Outside of Genesis 1, "Day" is used as a singular or plural 410 Times, always = a 24 hour day....

Evening + Morning without the word "Day" is used 38 Times & always used to refer to a 24 hour "Day"...

Night & Day is used 52 Times and always refers to a 24 hour "Day"....

Hence, in Genesis 1, the Bible is referring to literal "Days".....

And the evening and the morning were the first day.

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it:
because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
