Creation Moment 6/30/2022 - Kant Laid Groundwork for Darwinism

 Do you thus deal with the LORD,
O foolish and unwise people?

"Immanuel Kant (1724–1804) is commonly regarded as one of the greatest philosophers of all time.

But his intellectual career began with theology. On the 22 April 1724, Kant was born in Königsberg to devout Pietistic parents who named him Emmanuel, “God is with him”. His mother’s prayer for him was:

“May God sustain him in accordance with His Covenant of Grace until his final rest, for the sake of Jesus Christ, Amen.”

 

Kant’s book was entitled Universal Natural History and Theory of

The Heavens, or An Essay on The Constitution and Mechanical Origin of The Whole Universe, Treated In Accordance With Newtonian Principles (1755). Knowing that it would be theologically iconoclastic, he was only content to publish it when he felt that he was “secure in relation to the duties of religion”. This state of affairs was achieved by Frederick the Great (1712–1786)—a known atheist—taking to the throne, to whom Kant dedicated the volume.

Kant developed the first ‘nebular hypothesis’prototype to explain the origin of the universe “through mechanical laws alone”. In this book he speculates that the universe may have taken ‘millions of years’ to evolve from chaos; that the earth may have “existed for a thousand or more years before it was constituted so as to support people, animals, and plants”; and that the world continues to evolve because “Creation is never complete … it will never stop.” But his confidence in mechanical causes stumbles at the origin of life. Kant’s reticence here speaks for itself:

“Are we in a position to say: Give me matter and I will

show you how a caterpillar can be created? Do we not get stuck at the first step due to ignorance about the true inner nature of the object and the complexity of the diversity contained in it? It should therefore not be thought strange if I dare to say that we will understand the formation of all the heavenly bodies, the cause of their motion, in short, the origin of the whole present constitution of the universe sooner than the creation of a single plant or caterpillar becomes clearly and completely known on mechanical grounds.”

It was a problem that Darwin would attempt to solve a hundred years later. Yet, without Genesis, not only was Kant unable to explain the origin of life, he could not understand what it meant to be human:

“We are not even properly familiar with what a human being actually is, even though consciousness and our senses should inform us about it; how much less will we be able to imagine what he will become in the future!” 

This anthropological quandary led Kant to categorize humanity into four races. Predictably, this resulted in racism. Kant ranks the native ‘inhabitants of America’ “far below even the Negro, who stands on the lowest of all the other steps that we have named as differences of the races.”

 

Incredibly, Kant believed that melanin is strongly correlated with intellect. Concerning a ‘Negro carpenter’, he writes, “this fellow was quite black from head to foot, a clear proof that what he said was stupid.”  But for his own ethnicity and nationality, Kant reserves the highest praise:

“Humanity is at its greatest perfection in the race of the whites. The yellow Indians do have a meagre talent. The Negroes are far below them and at the lowest point are a part of the American peoples.” 

He says that Germans, being the pinnacle of humanity, have “a fortunate combination of feeling, both in that of the sublime and in that of the beautiful”, exhibiting “more moderation and understanding” than the English or the French.

Without minimizing other influences, it was Kant’s science that strategically shaped both his theology and philosophy. 

 

Kant argues that the interpretation of the Bible does not depend on

the “meaning of the writer” or whether the text has any basis in real history.

In fact, Kant actively discourages deriving any historical truths from Scripture because they are not “essential to salvation”. He insists that all historical claims should be settled by the “philosophical faculty”, not the “biblical theologian”.

This is because he believes the clergy to be “incompetent (in scientific matters)” and therefore ill-equipped to investigate any historical or scientific claims of Scripture.

 

Consequently, this makes the “literal interpretation” of any Biblical text an abomination to Kant. In a short book entitled The only possible argument in support of a demonstration of the existence of God (1763), Kant almost expunges God from the realm of rationality by arguing that classical proofs for his existence “prove nothing at all”.

 

Kant realizes that he needs God to make morality meaningful. But he will not allow God to be God. Instead, God is redefined as a “thought-object”, a “rational concept”, a “legislative force”, a “hypothetical being”, but without personality or any existence outside of Kant’s mind." CMI

V. British Fertlizer Plant closure endangers food supply

Maine's tuition assistance program allowed qualified candidates to receive government money to defray costs of tuition at schools of their choice — with one caveat: Money could not go to "sectarian" schools.

The plaintiffs in this case had chosen Bangor Christian Schools and Temple Academy as their private schools of choice, but the government deemed them "sectarian," and they were disqualified from receiving government funds.

Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for the majority (which includes Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett), noted, "The State pays tuition for certain students at private schools — so long as the schools are not religious. Walt Disney Corporation - also vowed to cover travel expenses for employees who need to leave their state to get an abortion legally.

Peering Deep Into Romans 7 Intro

"Know ye not, brethren (for I speak to them that know the law), how that the law hath dominion

over a man as long as he liveth? For a woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed form the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. 

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sin, which were by the law, did work in our bodies to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. (Romans 7:1-6). 

In the six verses that have been read, there is given us an illustration and the application. The illustration is easily understood. The simple fact of marriage is taken. A woman having a husband is bound to that husband so long as he liveth. 

Q: By what is she bound? 

A: By the law. 

It is contrary to the law for her to have two husbands at the same time; but if the first husband be dead, the same law will allow her to marry another man. This is but a plain illustration, and if it is kept in mind throughout the study of the chapter, it will be a great help to us in understanding it. 

 

Note the class of people to whom Paul is writing. "I speak to them that know the law." This epistle is addressed to professed followers of Christ.

Now to the illustration: While the law will not allow the woman to be united to two husbands at the same time, it will allow her to be united to two in succession. It is the law that allows her, and it is the law that unties her. The same law that unites her to the first husband also allows her to be united to the second, after that the first is dead.

Now to the application: "Wherefore my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that ye should bring forth fruit unto God." 

We can determine who the two husbands are by beginning with the second one. The "another" to whom we are to be married, is the one who has been raised from the dead, and that is Christ. We are one of the parties in the second marriage, and Christ is the other. He is the second husband. 

 

The question now arises, 

Q: Who was the first husband that died, in order that we might be united to the second? 

A: The sixth chapter has answered that. Compare Romans 7:5 with Romans 6. "For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death." 

The law held us in the first union and now to what were we united?

Q: What were we in? 

A: We were in union with the flesh. In the sixth chapter we found that the body of sin is destroyed by Christ. 

Q: By what means is it that the body of sin becomes destroyed? 

A: By the man being crucified with Christ.

In the first place we are joined to sin — the sinful flesh. 

We cannot serve two masters. 

Here are two figures. 

We are servants to one master — united to one husband. 

We cannot serve two masters at the same time and we cannot be united to two husbands at the same time. But we can be united to two in succession. 

The first one of these, to whom we have all been united, is the body of sin; the second is Christ, who is raised from the dead."

"God celebrated the first marriage. 

Thus the institution has for its originator the Creator of the universe. "Marriage is honorable" (Hebrews 13:4); it was one of the first gifts of God to man, and it is one of the two institutions that, after the Fall, Adam brought with him beyond the gates of Paradise. 

When the divine principles are recognized and obeyed in this relation, marriage is a blessing; 

--it guards the purity and happiness of the race, 

--it provides for man's social needs, 

--it elevates the physical, the intellectual, and the moral nature."

Digging Deeper Into The Seal Of The Living God

"Now we ask, 

Q: What is the seal of the living God? 

A: Ezekiel will help us understand, for he mentions the "mark" which is placed upon the foreheads of God's people (Ezekiel 9:3, 4). --This "mark" is a sign of victory over sin and of loyalty to the Lord.

In Egypt, as the destroying angel went through the land to slay all the firstborn of the Egyptians, he passed over those homes where the mark of blood was placed on the doorpost. 

So, in the final destruction, the destroying angels are commanded, "Do not come near any one on whom is the mark" (Ezekiel 9:6). The "seal of God" is therefore the mark identifying God's people as His. Being placed in their "foreheads" signifies that it has to do with the character. The character of His people is God's great concern.

 

John further describes this seal in Revelation 14:1, saying that the 144,000 have "the Father's name written on their foreheads."

Q: What is God's name? 

A: In 1 John 4:8, we read: "God is love." When the character of the people of God is transformed into perfect love, then will the "Father's name" be written in their foreheads.

Q: But how is love revealed? 

A: "Love is the fulfillment of the law" (Romans 13:10). 

If we profess to love, but do not fulfill the law of God, we deny the seal of God. And if we profess to keep God's commandments, but do not reveal love in our lives, we deny the Holy Spirit who impresses the seal upon God's people, because "the fruit of the Spirit is love" (Galatians 5:22).

A seal is the sign of authority, and is associated with the laws of government. "Whatever is written in the king's name and sealed with the king's signet ring, no one can revoke" (Esther 8:8). Queen Esther knew that if King Ahasuerus sealed the writing of the Persian law, it could never again be changed. God says through Isaiah: "Seal the law among my disciples" (Isaiah 8:16). 

Therefore we shall find the seal of God in His law.

A seal must have three details in order to be legal:
(1) The name of the law-giver;
(2) his position, or authority; and
(3) the territory over which he rules. For example, the Queen of England's seal would read, Elizabeth (name), Queen (position or authority) of Great Britain, Ireland, and the Commonwealth (territory). 

Now we ask, 

Q: where can we find the seal of God in His law? 

A: Only the Sabbath commandment contains all three essentials of a seal:
(1) "The seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord your God" (name
of the law-giver);
(2) "in six days the Lord made" (His position or authority, He is the Creator); 

(3) "the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them" (the territory over which He rules.) "

The company displayed this new feature at its annual MARS conference, demoing it by showing a video of a child asking Alexa to read its bedtime story in the voice of a dead grandmother. Rohit Prasad, Amazon’s head scientist for Alexa AI, commented: “As you saw in this experience, instead of Alexa’s voice reading the book, it’s the kid’s grandma’s voice.” 

With Amazon’s devices constantly listening in on users and the convenience of recording a voice note, it could mean that the average consumer could easily clone the voice of a family member.

At a recent revivalist event, he encountered a young girl who allegedly had a demon inside her needing to be exorcised. After talking to her, Adams ‘discovers’ she has a ‘Mermaid Spirit’ that she got from watching ‘scary mermaid videos on YouTube and as a result, could not speak.

It’s unsurprising that he’d label it that, as nothing makes a charismatic happier than being able to name a newly-discovered demon after some zoon animal.
