A day for a year principle applies in Bible Prophecy, for if the "days" in prophecy were literal days, how could they extend to events down through the ages to the TIME OF THE END. Only a day-for-a-year makes any sense in Bible Prophecy.
Understand, O son of man:
for at the time of the end shall be the vision.
Daniel 8:17
...even to the time of the end:
because it is yet for a time appointed.

And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him:

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words,
and seal the book, even to the time of the end:
