Scripture Speaks With One Accord of the Sabbath Day

"In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week," etc., Matt. 28:1. Here we have New Testament testimony upon the subject of what day should be called the Sabbath. It is the day that immediately precedes the first day of the week, therefore the Sabbath is the seventh day of the week.

But some may say that this Sabbath was past before the resurrection, and that the change in the day could not take place until Christ had risen and appeared to His disciples.
We reply that the resurrection of Christ has nothing to do with the matter.
The gospels were all written years after the occurrence of the events....and the names which they give to things must be the names by which the Holy Spirit wishes those things to be known throughout the entire Christian age.
With one accord they speak of the seventh day of the week-the day immediately preceding the first day of the week-as "the Sabbath."

Creation Moment 6/7/2024 - Color of "Beautiful" Chemistry gives "JOY" to Chemists

Lift up your eyes on high,
and behold who hath created these things...
Isaiah 40:26

"Promethium only exists naturally in minuscule amounts – Earth’s crust contains just about half a kilogram of the element.

It is now routinely produced, albeit in tiny quantities, from the
radioactive decay of uranium and can be incorporated in simple compounds for uses like luminous paint or nuclear batteries. But its extremely radioactive nature means it is inherently unstable, making it difficult to form long-lasting compounds that are easy to study. The crystal structures that it does exist in also exert forces on promethium’s chemical bonds, obscuring its fundamental chemistry, such as how long its atomic bonds are and how they form with other compounds.

Now, Alexander Ivanov at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and his colleagues have found a way to form a promethium compound in water. This dampens some of the damaging effects of radioactivity and avoids the obscuring effects of crystal structures, allowing the team to study the element’s chemistry in detail for the first time.

“It’s rather beautiful chemistry, and to see the delicate pink color of this complex is a real joy,” says Andrea Sella at University College London."

Sleep of Death

"Paul writes to the Thessalonians (1 Thess. 4:13, 14), that he would not have them ignorant concerning them which are asleep. In verse 14 he speaks of them as asleep in Jesus, and explains what he means, in verse 16, by calling them "dead in Christ."
And the advocates of the conscious state cannot dispose of these expressions by saying that they apply to the body merely; for they do not hold that the consciousness which we have in life (which is the same we lose in death) pertains to the body merely.
Job plainly declares that they will not awake till the resurrection at the last day.
"Man dieth and wasteth away;
yea, man giveth up the ghost,
Q: and where is he?
As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up, so man lieth down and riseth not:
till the heavens be no more,
they shall not awake,
nor be raised out oftheir sleep."
If, therefore, there is no resurrection, these dead are destined to sleep in unconsciousness forever."

Creation Moment 6/6/2024 - Tampering with God's Time Highway?

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not Love, I am nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:2

"Theoretical routes to the past called time loops have long been
hypothesized by physicists. But because they are plagued by impracticalities and paradoxes, they have been dismissed as impossible for just as long.
But now Lloyd and other physicists have begun to show that in the quantum realm, these loops to the past are not only possible, but even experimentally feasible.
In other words, we will soon effectively try to send a particle back in time.
If that succeeds, it raises the possibility of being able to dispatch, if not people, then at least messages in the form of quantum signals, back in time."

Spirit of Truth

"Christ prayed for His disciples, "Sanctify them through Thy truth; Thy word is truth." (John 17:17)
The psalmist David said, "Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Thy law is the truth."
From these passages we learn that when Christ said, "When He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth,"
He meant that the Spirit would lead them into a proper understanding of that which had already been revealed.
He plainly stated this when He said, "He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
*Many things that Christ said were not understood at the time; but
they were made plain by the Spirit, after Christ had ascended to heaven.
*And it is thus that the Spirit teaches us now; it leads those who are humble and teachable into a proper understanding of the written Word of God."

IN the NEWS - Over 1,000,000 Leave United Methodist in one day

You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice.
Exodus 23:2

"The United Methodist Church in the Ivory Coast voted on May 28 to exit the denomination in response to the church’s decision to approve gay pastors and same-sex marriage at its governing General Conference earlier this month.

In 2022, this conference reportedly had over 1.2 million members. So, its departure means over one tenth of
United Methodism has—in one day—left the denomination.

“For reasons of conscience before God and His word, the supreme authority in matters of faith and life,” the annual conference of the
United Methodist Church of Ivory Coast (EMUCI, Eglise Méthodiste Unie Côte d’Ivoire), gathered for an extraordinary session on May 28 in Abidjan, and decided “to leave the United Methodist Church denomination.”

The annual conference of EMUCI, through a statement from its president, Bishop Benjamin Boni, declared that “the United Methodist Church now rests on socio-cultural values that have consumed its doctrinal and disciplinary integrity.”

The decision follows the early May 3 vote at the United Methodist Church General Conference in the United States to lift the ban on ordaining gay pastors and officiating same-sex marriages.
For EMUCI, which joined the United Methodist Church in 2002, this now apostate church “deviates from the Holy Scriptures” and prefers “to sacrifice its honor and integrity to honor the LGBTQ community.”

Creation Moment 6/5/2024 - Simple Mathematics in your Lungs

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.... Psalm 139:4

"Formally speaking,
fractals are infinitely complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales. But, in an echo of their geometry, fractals can help us better understand the world on many levels.

Let’s start with the familiar: fractals in nature. “They are all around us – in trees, mountain ranges, river deltas and so on,” says Dave Feldman at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbour, Maine. Such ubiquity makes sense because of the way fractals are made: “a simple iterative process – repeated folding or branching – can produce fractals”, he says.

The inside of your lungs is fractal for a reason: such arrangements cram a huge surface area into a small volume of space.....maximizing the area of tissue that can absorb oxygen."

Litch on the Parable of the 10 virgins

"Their lamps---
The lamp is a light-bearer. The light-bearer of the moral world is the word of God. It is not light of itself, but bears light, and is a means of communicating it to us.
The Infidel has the Bible as well as the Christian,
but it affords him no light;
he cannot see that there is a God, a future state, a Savior, a devil, and angels.
The Christian finds all these things plainly revealed.

"Went forth to meet the bridegroom." Was there any special movement in the world during the last and present centuries, in reference to the coming of the Bridegroom? Answer. There most certainly was. Toward the close of the last century, and during the career of Bonaparte, a very unusual excitement prevailed on the subject of the fulfilment of the prophetic Scriptures. More was written and said on the subject than had been before for ages.

From that time it is true "that while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept." The world went to sleep together on the subject.

He did not come as they had expected; they knew not when He would come, or the prophecies would be fulfilled.

But "at midnight," when sleep was most profound, "a cry was made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh, go ye out to meet him." That such a cry has been made cannot be denied.

"Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps." To trim a lamp, is to put it in order to burn and give light.
Has the world been aroused to the study of the Bible on the subject of Christ's coming? This is undeniable; the time never was when there was so universal a searching of the Scriptures as at present.

"But the foolish said unto the wise, give us of your oil, for our
lamps are gone out
." Take a lamp with a wick, and ignite it, and it will blaze for a moment without oil, but must soon expire. So with the unbelieving world; they hear and read what is preached and written, and are almost ready to yield to their convictions of its truth.

There are, undoubtedly, a great many of the wise virgins who are yet asleep to this subject, who are to be awakened, and will be, before that day comes."

Chronology of the Bridegroom & the Marriage SIMPLIFIED

"After the bridegroom has come to the marriage, the King must come in to see the guests, to see whether all have on the wedding garment or not. Matt. 22:11-13.
Q: What is this period of examination?
A: It is the period of the investigative judgment in the sanctuary above.
Q: Will any of the guests go in to the marriage before the very last guest is decided to be ready?
A: By no means.
Q: And when will that be?
A: When the ministration in the most holy place of the sanctuary is finished, and every case is decided.
Q: When does the marriage take place, or, in other words, when does Christ receive his kingdom?
A: When he has finished his work as priest in the heavenly sanctuary.
 Then the door is shut,
and the marriage is completed;
that is, Christ receives the kingdom.
The prophet Daniel describes the scene when this kingdom is delivered to the Son. Dan. 7:13, 14: “I saw in the visions, and, behold one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought Him near before Him; and there was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve Him.”

Creation Moment 6/4/2024 - What Darwinians Bequeathed Us

I have seen the foolish taking root...Job 5:3

"Did humans evolve to chase down prey over long distances? (New
Scientist, 15 May 2024
). Here, Michael LePage commits the same “evolve to” fallacy. If chasing down prey is our raison d’être, then we have no inherent rights or value. We’re just here by accident. LePage should be asking how all the well-designed parts of the human body permit us to do all manner of Olympic events but no. He only cares about what blind, purposeless forces “might have” made humans so exceptional by chance. No value; no rights; no dignity.

Darwinians have bequeathed us a science of storytelling and speculation that is useless and worthless."

Why God does Wonderful things

"The miracles of the Bible are not to be explained, but believed.
Our belief in them is the measure of our belief in God.
We believe that God exists, that He is the Creator of all things, and accepting this fact, we do not find it at all difficult to believe that He caused the shadow on the dial of Ahaz to turn backward; that He caused the sun to stand still in the heavens, so that one day was as long as two; that He divided the Red Sea, and the River Jordan; that He caused iron to swim, and made the dumb ass speak with human voice; that He preserved Jonah alive three days in the whale's belly; or that He raised the dead.
Q: Why should He not do such things? "Our God is in the heavens; He hath done whatsoever He would." (Psalm 115:3).
He made all things;
Q: why should we suppose that He has less power to control than He had in creating?
No; it is the most natural thing in the world
for our God to do wonderful things,
because He is a wonderful God."

Health Note - Orange Peels

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest...be in health,..
3 John 1:2

"The orange peel polar fraction extract containing a compound called feruloylputrescine has the potential to alleviate cardiovascular disease.
When they feed on certain nutrients during digestion, gut bacteria produce trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO). Levels of TMAO can help predict future cardiovascular disease.
They tested two types of extracts: a polar fraction and a non-polar fraction.
To get the polar fractions, they used polar and non-polar solvents to extract the
orange peel.
“If you imagine your salad dressing, anything in the water or vinegar part are the polar fraction; anything in the oil away from water is the non-polar fraction,” Dr. Wang said.
The authors found that the
orange peel non-polar fraction extract effectively inhibits the production of harmful chemicals.
“This is a novel finding that highlights the previously unrecognized health potential of feruloylputrescine in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease,” Dr. Wang said.
“The orange peel finding is significant because 5 million tons of orange peels are produced each year in orange juice production nationwide.”
“These findings suggest that orange peels, often discarded as waste in the citrus industry, can be repurposed into valuable health-promoting ingredients, such as diet supplements or food ingredients,” Dr. Wang said."

Papal Notes - Woke Pope Angers the Woke

It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman. Proverbs 21:19

"Pope Francis berated a group of young priests from Rome this
week, accusing them of gossiping about him and acting like women.
“In the parishes we hear people say: ‘What is this pope thinking? What’s with this pope?” the pontiff told a group of 72 priests ordained in the last ten years at a closed-door meeting this week.
“I know that there are parishes where this kind of gossip happens. Gossip doesn’t help. Gossip is for women,” he told them.
“We wear pants, we need to say things openly,” he said.
Local media tied the pope’s comments, interpreted as sexist and anti-women. The editors of the Milan-based women’s magazine, Donna Moderna, dubbed the words about women and gossip “the pope’s latest gaffe.”
“What is happening in the Vatican?” the editors asked in apparent astonishment."

Creation Moment 6/3/2024 - "society got in the way"?

.....O foolish people and unwise..... Deuteronomy 32:6

"How men evolved to care for babies — before society got in the way
(Nature, 15 May 2024). A common fallacy in evolutionary explanations is that organisms “evolved to” do this or that.
*Actually, Darwinism teaches that mutations are random, and are selected only for survival— not “to” perform some function.
Trying to be politically correct with cherry-picked photos, Kermyt G. Anderson tries to argue that males “evolved to” be the nurturing ones but then “society got in the way,” as if that is a pity."

Examination of the "Sunday" texts

"Only six texts in the New Testament mention the first day of the week in connection with Christ's life: Matthew 28:1; Mark 16:2, 9; Luke 24:1; John 20:1,19.
These four Gospel writers penned their narratives anywhere from twenty or thirty years up to nearly seventy years after the ascension of Christ.
These and other New Testament writers all speak of the seventh day as “the Sabbath,” with no suggestion that this weekly holy day had been abolished or was in process of being abolished.

From a study of the six texts before us the following facts come to light:
1. Each time Sunday is called simply “the first day of the week.” No title of holiness or other indication of sanctity or holiness is employed or hinted at.
2. There is no statement by Christ in connection with His meetings with the disciples, either in these texts or in their surrounding context, that even suggests that special significance should henceforth be attached to the first day of the week.
3. The reason why the disciples were all in one place on the resurrection day was not because they were holding a religious service to institute Sunday worship but because they were in “fear of the Jews.” (John 20:19)
4. Three of the four Gospel writers plainly state that the Sabbath had ended when the first day of the week began.
5. The true significance of the mention of the first day of the week is evidently merely the desire of the Gospel writers to give an accurate history of the events surrounding the crucifixion, and to show that Christ's declaration that He would be raised on the third day was fulfilled.

In addition to His meetings with the disciples and certain women on the resurrection day, as mentioned in the six “first day” texts, what other visits, which state the time of His visit, are recorded? There are two:
1. The day of the ascension (when Christ was taken up into heaven), which occurred forty days after the resurrection (See Acts 1:3-9). By counting off cycles of seven, we can determine that since the
Resurrection was on Sunday, Ascension Day, 40 days later, must have been a Thursday. Those churches that honor Ascension Day do so on a Thursday, the 40th day after Easter Sunday.
2. A meeting held a week after the resurrection day. The time is thus given: “And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, ‘Peace be unto you.’” John 20:26. “After eight days” is a Hebrew idiom for one week [see, e.g., the NIV translation]. Thus, this took place a week later.
Hence, Christ met with His disciples the first two Sundays after the Resurrection. The first Sunday meeting proves nothing except that Christ would not want to delay the encouragement of His disciples provided by the fact of His resurrection from the dead.

So let us examine the account of the third time Christ met His disciples after His resurrection. (See John 21:1-14)
The disciples were fishing! Evidently they considered fishing proper on that day, and there is no suggestion that Christ rebuked them for it. Instead, He instructed them how to catch fish!
Q: If this was Sunday, and the solemnity of the Sabbath Day had been transferred to Sunday at the Resurrection, wouldn’t Jesus have scolded them for working on Sunday?
Sunday advocates tend not to talk about this occasion."

Papal Notes - Francis, Lady Madonna & Islam

Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.... Exodus 20:3

"Pope Francis paid a visit to detainees at Verona’s Montorio Prison, and upon bestowing an icon of the Madonna and Child upon the apparently multi-faith jail, he stated to applause that “the figure of Mary is a figure common to both Christianity and Islam. She is a
common figure; she unites us all.
”

If this seems innocuous, it also falls in line with the Vatican’s many attempts to convince Catholics that Islam is somehow a “sister faith,” when, in fact, Islam appropriates the names and sacred auras of Biblical figures, but then recasts them with completely different, anti-Biblical attributes.

In early 2021, for example, the Marian academy in Rome launched a 10-week webinar series titled “Mary, a model for faith and life for Christianity and Islam” in collaboration with the Grand Mosque of Rome and the Islamic Cultural Center of Italy.

Based on his belief that Mary is “a Jewish, Christian and Muslim woman,” Catholic priest, Fr. Gian Matteo Roggio, organizer of the Muslim-Catholic initiative, said he hoped to use “Our Lady” as a model of “open borders” between religious and multicultural worlds." Lifesite

Example of careless manner in which most people handle the word of God

"The following paragraph, which is going the rounds of the religious press,
shows the careless manner in which most people handle the word of God:- "Moses with his decalogue, could never accomplish what has been achieved by Christ and his cross. The bonds of the old morality could, like green withes, be easily broken; but the ties of this morality are strong, just because they are tender."

It is evident that the writer of the above is trying to place Christ in antagonism to the ten commandments;
Q: But where in the Bible do we find any record of the decalogue of Moses?
Moses did not originate the law, he did not speak it to the people, God called Moses into the mount, and there gave him the ceremonial law, and directions concerning the building of the sanctuary.
But the decalogue was not intrusted to Moses to be transmitted to the people.
Thus we read, "And He gave unto Moses, when He had made an end of communing with Him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God;" Ex. 31:18;
When these first tables were broken, the Lord said to Moses: "Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first; and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest." "And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments." Ex. 34:1, 28.
There is a law that is sometime called Moses' law, but it was distinct from the decalogue. It was the law of ceremonies which God gave to Moses while he was in the mount.
But although Moses wrote this law for the use of the people, and it is sometimes termed his law, it is nowhere claimed that Moses had any further connection with it than as the mouthpiece of God.
Thus in Lev. 27:34, after this law had been rehearsed, the statement was made, "These are the commandments which the Lord commanded Moses for the children of Israel in Mount Sinai;" and in Neh. 9:13, 14, the distinction between the law of God and that of Moses is clearly made, while God is still represented as the author of both.
The same spirit which leads men to speak of the Sabbath of the Lord as the "old Jewish Sabbath," leads them to speak of the law of which it is a part as the "decalogue of Moses."
The antipathy felt toward the Sabbath will naturally extend to the whole law, and instead of repudiating the fourth commandment merely, men will reject the whole law."

Creation Moment 6/2/2024 -A big continent?

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:1

"Why did Homo sapiens emerge in Africa? (Live Science, 25 May 2024). Katherine Irving doesn’t know why we are here either. Her
expert, Curtis Marean from Arizona State, conjectures that Africa was where Stuff Happens. Of many guesses out there, he considers a new suggestion by Brenna Henn at UC Davis that Homo sapiens emerged from a blending of two hominin populations in Africa, but admits,

“It doesn’t really fit with any theory that we have about how evolution happens,” he said. He agrees with Henn that Africa’s immense size likely created the genetic diversity that allowed for the advanced cognition and social cooperation of modern humans to evolve.

*A big continent might “allow for” all kinds of things to happen, but it cannot make things happen.

The Invisible God

"He is "the King eternal, immortal, invisible," "dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see." 1 Tim. i. 17; vi. 16.
What then is the use of the command, "Behold, your God!"
Q: Why tell people to behold God, when He is invisible, and no man
hath seen Him, and no man can see Him?
He even hides Himself, so that nobody can see Him, and then sends us a message, saying, "Behold Me, behold Me." Isa. lv. 1.
Q: Where is the consistency?
This is a fair specimen of the fault that many people find with God and His Word. They make out what seems a very plausible case against Him, and think that they have abundant excuse for their unbelief.
Now when it appears that there is not the least inconsistency here, nor shadow of unreasonableness, it ought for ever to put an end to all cavil. When God rests His case on the most inconsistent terms possible, and nevertheless shows Himself perfectly true, it necessarily follows that no case can possibly be made to stand against Him. "The foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men." 1 Cor. i. 25.
---There is such a thing as seeing the invisible.
The things that are impossible to human sight are very easy when the eyes of our understanding are enlightened.
By the Holy Spirit. Moses "endured as seeing Him who is invisible." Heb. xi. 27. Our light afflictions work out for us an eternal weight of glory, "while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen." 2 Cor. iv. 18."

Our Kidron

The king also himself passed over the brook Kidron.
2 Samuel 15:23

"DAVID passed that gloomy brook when flying with his mourning company from his traitor son. The man after God's own heart was not exempt from trouble, nay, his life was full of it.

He was both the Lord's Anointed, and the Lord's Afflicted.
Q: Why then should we expect to escape?
--At sorrow's gates the noblest of our race have waited with ashes on their heads, wherefore then should we complain as though some strange thing had happened unto us?

The KING of kings Himself was not favored with a more cheerful or royal road. He passed over the filthy ditch of Kidron, through which the filth of Jerusalem flowed.
It is a great joy to believe that Jesus has been tempted in all points like as we are.
Q: What is our Kidron this morning?
Q: Is it bodily pain, poverty, persecution, or contempt?
---Over each of these Kidrons the King has gone before us.

We shall yet with joy draw water out of the wells of salvation, though now for a season we have to pass by the noxious streams of sin and sorrow. Courage, soldiers of the Cross, the King Himself triumphed after going over Kidron, and so shall you."

Break that Yoke of Worldly Education

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. John 14:17

"That Church Triumphs which breaks the yoke of worldly education, and which develops and practices the principles of Christian
education.
--The Protestant denomination could not give the third angel's message, a reform movement, which is a warning against the beast and his image, because they were still clinging to those doctrines and those principles of education which themselves form the beast and his image.
PROTESTANTISM, born in the sixteenth century, was about to lose its light in Europe.
--God then prepared a new land, the future United States, as a cradle for the protection and development of those principles, and from this country is to go forth the final world-wide message that heralds the Savior's return."

fishes, reptiles, herbs, shrubs, trees, stones, metals, minerals, stars, &c. and
--everyone of them plentifully furnished and endowed with all the qualifications requisite to the attainment of the respective ends of its creation,
