Navy. One April evening in 1810, 12 men and an officer entered a boardinghouse in Liverpool, England, where they “seized and dragged” Joseph Bates and some other Americans and put them in jail. 

The next day Bates and those with him were forced into the British Navy. Bates served on two large Royal Navy fighting ships. 

In 1812 the United States declared war on England because of the impressment issue and maritime rights. Bates and his American companions demanded to be made prisoners of war, as

they refused to fight against their own country. 

The British granted their request, and as prisoners of war they were confined on various prison ships. After numerous escape attempts, Bates and his friends were sent to Dartmoor Prison, a damp and dreary place near Plymouth, England. While there, Bates witnessed the “massacre,” when British guards opened fire on the prisoners, killing seven and wounding 60.
Finally the Treaty of Ghent was signed, and in April of 1815 Bates returned home a free man. After an absence of more than six years, Bates received a warm welcome. Among those who welcomed him was a childhood friend, Prudence Nye, who in 1818 became his wife." AR

The HOLY SPIRIT is Not an "it"

"CHRISTIANITY in all that in itself it is, contemplates only a

Person. It has its origin only in a Person. It comes to men only from a Person. It is given to men only by a Person. It is sustained and maintained in believers only by a Person.

Christian loyalty, therefore, is and can be only loyalty to that Person. The loyalty of Christians can never be to anybody, and much less to any thing, other than just that one Person. And that Person is God—God, in Christ, through and by the Holy Spirit.

God is a person—a living, intelligent, person: a person who thinks, who loves, who pities, who speaks, who is good, who is true, who is faithful, who enters into covenant with men, and who keeps covenant and mercy with men forever.

And Christ Jesus is a person. In this personal Christ the personal God is manifested to the world and made personally known to believing men. Christ, was a person before he came into the world; yea, he was a person before ever the world was. 

*This same Person who was before the world, and who made the world and made man, came into the world and to man. 

*He was a person in the world and with mankind. 

*In this same person he left the world and ascended to heaven and to the personal God of heaven. 

*In this same Person, and as this same Person glorified, he is at the right hand of the throne of the personal God in Heaven. 

*And in this same Person, and as this same Person glorified, He is soon corning again in all the glory to glorify and take to Himself and to the personal God of glory, all who are His by a personal faith upon their own personal choice.

And the Holy Spirit is a person. This great truth is not recognized, indeed it is not believed, by more than a very few even of Christians. For everybody knows that almost invariably, with very, very few exceptions, the Holy Spirit is referred to and spoken of by Christians as “it.”

But the word “it” never applies to a person. The word “it,” in the

very genius of our language, refers and applies only to things, never to persons; to things of inanimate substance, as a stone, a horse, a tree; or to things of concept, or experience, as space, height, breadth, peace, joy, grief, an impression, an influence. But the Holy Spirit is none of these: the Holy Spirit is not an influence; nor an impression, nor peace, nor joy, nor any thing. The Holy Spirit gives peace, and gives joy, assuages in grief, makes an impression, exerts an influence; but the Holy Spirit is none of these things, nor any other thing.

No, eternally no! The Holy Spirit is a Person, eternally a divine Person. And He must be always recognized and spoken of as a Person, or he is not truly recognized or spoken of at all.

See how plain and emphatic the Scriptures set forth this truth that the Holy Spirit is only a Person: and to aid the reader to see this truth, we will print in capital letters Italic, the words that designate the Holy Spirit:—

John 14:16, 17: “I will pray the Father, and he shall give, you another comforter that HE may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; WHOM the world cannot

receive because it (the world) seeth HIM not, neither knoweth HIM; but ye know HIM; for HE dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

John 15:26: “When the Comforter is come, WHOM I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which (WHO, Revised Version and others) proceedeth from the Father, HE shall testify of me.”

John 6:7-15: “If I go not away the Comforter will not come unto you; And when HE is come, HE will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.) ... I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye can not bear them now. Howbeit, when HE, the Spirit of Truth is come, HE will guide you into all truth; for HE shall not speak for HIMSELF; but whatsoever HE shall hear, that shall HE speak; and HE will shew you things to come. HE shall glorify me; for HE shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine; therefore, said I, that HE shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.”

Thus in the short space of a few lines the Lord Jesus speaks of the Holy Spirit as a person; and speaks of Him in no other term than that which signifies in Greek, literally, “that person there.”

Therefore to be consistent those people who persist in speaking of the Holy Spirit as “it,” should also speak of Christ as “it,” and of God as “it.” 

But as certainly as any one speaks of God as HE and of Christ as HE, he must also speak of the Holy Spirit as HE.

Where the Holy Spirit Leads

and avoid doctrinal untruths (who have swerved from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some. 2 Timothy 2:18). 

Christ’s disciples do the truth (But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” John 3:21) 

and abide in the truth (So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32)."

SDA Issues: To the anti-trinitarian rebels among us who misquote DA 785

“All things Christ received from God, but He took to give. So in the heavenly courts, in His ministry for all created beings: through the beloved Son, the Father’s life flows out to all; through the Son it returns, in praise and joyous service, a tide of love, to the great Source of all.” E.G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 21

"Our opponents use this statement to prove that Jesus received His life from the Father. All means all, including His life. However, careful look into the statement proves otherwise:

A. The statements plainly tells us the purpose of receiving "all", and that is to give. For whom? "For all CREATED BEINGS." What he received from the Father was for the benefit of all created beings

NOT FOR HIMSELF.

B. This is in perfect harmony with her other statement in the same book.
"ALL CREATED BEINGS live by the will and power of God. They are dependent RECIPIENTS OF THE LIFE OF GOD. From the HIGHEST SERAPH TO THE HUMBLEST ANIMATE BEING, ALL ARE REPLENISHED FROM THE SOURCE OF LIFE." DA 785.

Does "ALL life" include the life of Jesus? NO. Only the life of "all created beings." These created beings are "recipients of the life of God." Jesus is not recipient because He is not a created being.

The Bible tells us that his "goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." Micah 5:2. He is the "Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the End."
So, When DA21 says "THRHOUGH THE BELOVED SON, the FATHER'S LIFE FLOWS OUT TO ALL; THROUGH THE SON IT RETURNS...to the GREAT SOURCE OF ALL," remember DA785 that it means "the Father's life flows to all created beings" and returns "to the great source of all created beings."

C. We can also see that, "all created beings," "through the Son IT RETURNS, in praise and joyous service, a tide of love, to the GREAT SOURCE OF ALL."
Notice: "Created beings" return praise and joyous service to the Father through the Son. But the statement doesn't say that Jesus also returns praise and service to the Father. This destroys the intent of the statement. 

First, it says "all created beings." 

Second, the focus is on the ministry of Jesus for us not for the Father.

D. The life of Jesus is "exclusively the property of God. The Word, who was with God, and who was God, had this life." 1SM 296. Here we see "the property of God (singular)" but mentioned "the Word (God) who was with God (Father)." Singular God but two persons. It plainly puts Jesus into equality with the Father as God and have equal life as God. This imortality was and is "in Him." No one gave it to Him because IT'S HIS PERSONAL PROPERTY AS GOD.

Then it goes on to say that "Physical life is something which each individual receives." If we continue, even immortal "life is not inherent in man...it is GIVEN him as a free gift." 

Both physical life and immortal life are given to man. 

Remember that Ellen is contrasting our life and the life of Jesus here. Man's life is given. "But the life of Christ was unborrowed...In Him was life, original, unborrowed, underived." Basically, if the life of man is "given," then the life of Jesus is not given. Very clear contrast.
Why would Ellen White say that man's life is given and contrast it with the unborrowed and underived life of Jesus when in reality she was also teaching that Jesus recieved His from the Father? That's a blatant contradiction.

They also argue that Jesus inherited His divinity from the Father by virtue of birth. Just like our children inherit our nature by birth. But the question is, when you received your life from your parents, does it become your original, unborrowed and underived life? Our life is inherited. But the life of Jesus is inherent in Him in contrast to ours. To inherit means to receive it by inheritance or by genetic transmission. But inherent doesn't include any of that. It means it's your permanent nature. It's your essence. No one gave it to you." JoelRidgeway

"Prediction: there must be lots of junk DNA. Evolution needs lots of non-functional DNA for three reasons: 

a) Being a messy process, evolution could never produce a high

proportion of functional DNA; 

b) Evolution needs lots of non-functional DNA to experiment with so that evolution can be ongoing; 

c) Most mutations are harmful, if only slightly so on average, and there are many of them, so if most of the DNA is functional this means that these mutations would inevitably cause genomic degradation (extinction), not progressive evolution. 

When the ENCODE project found that at least 80% of human DNA is functional, evolutionists went into overdrive to criticize the ‘dangerous’ notion that there was little if any junk DNA.
