Creation Moment 7/29/2026 - The Holy Spirit at Creation

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
 Genesis 1:2

"Before God spoke a single word of creation, the Spirit of God was already there. The text places Him over the formless, dark, water-covered void before any creative act began. The Holy Spirit was
present at the very origin of all things, actively engaged before there was anything to engage with.

The word “moved” here in Hebrew is rachaph, a word that describes a bird hovering, brooding, watching over something with focused, protective care. The Spirit was hovering with intention, poised over what was formless and empty, ready for what God was about to do.
The Spirit’s character is revealed here:
--He moves toward what is empty and disordered, not away from it.
--He does not wait for conditions to improve before He shows up.
--He was already there over the void.
He was at creation before anything existed,
and He is with you before anything in your day unfolds."

The Triune Godhead Guiding History

As the Wheels in Ezekiel work in unison guiding human history in it's motions....so does the Godhead.

I. The Father (on the Throne above)
And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne......And I saw as the color of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it,
from the appearance of His loins even upward,
and from the appearance of His loins even downward,
I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.
Ezekiel 1:26-28

II. The Son (known as the "Son of Man" in Scripture)
And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides;
Ezekiel 1:8

III. The Spirit (Guiding within the working parts)
And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

IN the NEWS - Poll on the "Trinity"

QUESTION: ...when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? LUKE 18:8

"An overwhelming majority of Christians reject the basic Christian teaching of the Trinity, prompting new concerns that Americans are living without the influence of “the truths and life principles of God.”
The Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University released the latest installment of its American Worldview Inventory series which documents Americans’ views on the Trinity. The research is based on responses collected from 2,100 adults in
January.

Overall, just 40% of respondents believe that God exists and affects people’s lives. That figure rises to 53% among self-identified Christians, 60% among theologically-identified born-again Christians, and 100% among Integrated Disciples. The latter term refers to those who have a biblical worldview. While a majority of those surveyed (59%) believe in the existence of Jesus Christ, a significantly smaller share of adults (29%) believe in the Holy Spirit.
Slightly more than 1 in 10 respondents (11%) believe in the Trinity, that the God of the Bible is “three distinct but inseparable and equal persons in one infinite Being.” The persons in the Trinity are God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
Belief in the Trinity, characterized by the Cultural Research Center as a “fundamental tenet of Christianity,” increases to 16% among self-identified Christians, 24% among theologically-identified born-again Christians and 62% among Integrated Disciples.
“These results are further evidence of the limited or lack of trust Americans have in the Bible, the limitations we place on the authority and influence of God, and our refusal to cooperate with God by living in harmony with His ways and purposes,” said CRC Director of Research George Barna in response to the survey results. “Even the statistics for the groups that are most in-tune with biblical teachings, such as belief in the nature and impact of the Trinity, are shockingly low for a nation in which most people claim to be Christian.”

Mocking the Altar of Incense

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities. And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because He maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26,27

Below is just one of endless examples where the Catholic Church replaces the work of the Holy Spirit thereby making a mockery of the Altar of Incense in the Holy Place.
Thereby casting the Sanctuary Truth to the Ground.... and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.... and it cast down the truth to the ground; Daniel 8:11,12

"Many women hoping for an early delivery turn to St. Felicity,
asking for her intercession in this matter. St. Felicity knew first hand how difficult it can be awaiting the birth of a child during those final weeks of pregnancy.
Little is known about the girl St. Felicity gave birth to, as no records provide any additional information, besides that she was brought-up by her sister. She likely grew-up knowing that her mother was sentenced to death for being a Christian and gave birth to her while in prison." Aleteia

Distinct Triune Godhead

"That the
Divine Spirit
is to be distinguished from the Father and the
Son, appears from all those passages in holy Scripture, which reveal to us the simultaneous cooperation of three infinite agents.

Thus when we read, at our Lord’s baptism, of the voice of the Father, of the human presence of Jesus, of the visible descent of the Spirit, for: Luke 3:21 The heaven was opened, and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, You are my beloved Son, in You I am well pleased: –we are compelled to say, that the descending Spirit is distinct from the baptized Savior, and from the approving Father

And when Jesus says, John 14:16 I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever: –and when this promise being fulfilled on the day of Pentecost, we find that the Holy Ghost appeared seated on the disciples as cloven tongues of fire: we are constrained to acknowledge that the Spirit is distinct from the mediating Savior, and the Father who decreed the gift.

And when we read of... Matthew 28:19 ...the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, –and again of...
2 Corinthians 13:14 ...the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ, –Scripture leads us to conclude that
as the bleeding Savior is distinct from the Father, so the sanctifying Spirit is Himself distinct.

Triune Godhead of LOVE

God is love. 1 John 4:16

"The one true God exists eternally as three persons, coequal in power, glory, and majesty.
Each person has unique roles in creation and salvation, and each person is revealed in Scripture to relate to the others in different ways.

One way the Trinity is important for understanding God is that the Trinity makes it possible for love to be an innate quality of God.
If God was only God the Father, and Jesus came later, for instance, God’s love would be dependent on the existence of creatures for Him
to love.

But because God is a Trinity of three persons, each person loves the other two (i.e., the Father loves the Son and the Spirit, the Son loves the Father and the Spirit, and the Spirit loves the Father and the Son), and each pair jointly loves the third (i.e., the Father and the Son love the Spirit, the Father and the Spirit love the Son, and the Son and the Spirit love the Father)."

"Eternity"

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
"In the beginning — That is, before any thing was formed - ere God began the great work of creation. This is the meaning of the word in Genesis 1:1, to which the evangelist evidently alludes.
Eternity is usually expressed by being before the foundation of the world. The eternity of God is so described (Ps. 90:2).

His co-existence with the Father:
---The Word was with God,
---and the Word was God."

Christ was the anointed king before the earth existed

"Psalm 2:6
Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
The word is the same in the Hebrew, and it will he noticed in the margin we have “anointed” as the rendering of the Hebrew.
Thus we learn that Christ was the anointed king before the earth existed."

Why a Shamrock?

"St. Patrick's use of the
three-leafed shamrock—which he used to explain the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)—played a role in converting early Irish people to Christianity."

A better word to use than "trinity" would be Triune Godhead...

after OUR likeness.....

and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with you all......

About the Promise of the Holy Spirit

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me: John 15:26

"The promise of the Holy Spirit is not limited
--to any age
--or to any race.
*Christ declared that the divine influence of His Spirit was to be with
His followers unto the end.
*From the Day of Pentecost to the present time, the Comforter has been sent to all who have yielded themselves fully to the Lord and to His service.
*To all who have accepted Christ as a personal Saviour, the Holy Spirit has come as a counselor, sanctifier, guide, and witness. . . ."

Understanding the Paradoxical Mystery of the Triune Godhead

"We are told that the Lord Jesus, the Word "made flesh" (John 1:14),
is "
the light of the world" (John 8:12).
---He is the only one who "hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen" (1 Timothy 6:16).
*The great paradoxical mystery of the triune Godhead can only be seen and understood as we recognized the Lord Jesus Christ as "the fulness of the Godhead bodily" (Colossians 2:9).
Philip once wanted to "see the Father." Jesus simply told him, and us, "he that hath seen Me hath seen the Father" (John 14:9)."

The HOLY SPIRIT is Not an "it"

"CHRISTIANITY in all that in itself it is, contemplates only a
Person
. It has its origin only in a Person. It comes to men only from a Person. It is given to men only by a Person. It is sustained and maintained in believers only by a Person.

Christian loyalty, therefore, is and can be only loyalty to that Person. The loyalty of Christians can never be to anybody, and much less to any thing, other than just that one Person. And that Person is God—God, in Christ, through and by the Holy Spirit.

God is a person—a living, intelligent, person: a person who thinks, who loves, who pities, who speaks, who is good, who is true, who is faithful, who enters into covenant with men, and who keeps covenant and mercy with men forever.

And Christ Jesus is a person. In this personal Christ the personal God is manifested to the world and made personally known to believing men. Christ, was a person before he came into the world; yea, he was a person before ever the world was.
*This same Person who was before the world, and who made the world and made man, came into the world and to man.
*He was a person in the world and with mankind.
*In this same person he left the world and ascended to heaven and to the personal God of heaven.
*In this same Person, and as this same Person glorified, he is at the right hand of the throne of the personal God in Heaven.
*And in this same Person, and as this same Person glorified, He is soon corning again in all the glory to glorify and take to Himself and to the personal God of glory, all who are His by a personal faith upon their own personal choice.

And the Holy Spirit is a person. This great truth is not recognized, indeed it is not believed, by more than a very few even of Christians. For everybody knows that almost invariably, with very, very few exceptions, the Holy Spirit is referred to and spoken of by Christians as “it.”

But the word “it” never applies to a person. The word “it,” in the
very genius of our language, refers and applies only to things, never to persons; to things of inanimate substance, as a stone, a horse, a tree; or to things of concept, or experience, as space, height, breadth, peace, joy, grief, an impression, an influence. But the
Holy Spirit is none of these: the Holy Spirit is not an influence; nor an impression, nor peace, nor joy, nor any thing.
The Holy Spirit gives peace, and gives joy, assuages in grief, makes an impression, exerts an influence; but the Holy Spirit is none of these things, nor any other thing.

No, eternally no! The Holy Spirit is a Person, eternally a divine Person. And He must be always recognized and spoken of as a Person, or he is not truly recognized or spoken of at all.

See how plain and emphatic the Scriptures set forth this truth that the Holy Spirit is only a Person: and to aid the reader to see this truth, we will print in capital letters Italic, the words that designate the Holy Spirit:—

John 14:16, 17: “I will pray the Father, and he shall give, you another comforter that HE may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; WHOM the world cannot
receive because it (the world) seeth HIM not, neither knoweth HIM; but ye know HIM; for HE dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 15:26: “When the Comforter is come, WHOM I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which (WHO, Revised Version and others) proceedeth from the Father, HE shall testify of me.

John 6:7-15: “If I go not away the Comforter will not come unto you; And when HE is come, HE will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.) ... I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye can not bear them now. Howbeit, when HE, the Spirit of Truth is come, HE will guide you into all truth; for HE shall not speak for HIMSELF; but whatsoever HE shall hear, that shall HE speak; and HE will shew you things to come. HE shall glorify me; for HE shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine; therefore, said I, that HE shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.

Thus in the short space of a few lines the Lord Jesus speaks of the Holy Spirit as a person; and speaks of Him in no other term than that which signifies in Greek, literally, “that person there.

Therefore to be consistent those people who persist in speaking of the Holy Spirit as “it,” should also speak of Christ as “it,” and of God as “it.”
But as certainly as any one speaks of God as HE and of Christ as HE, he must also speak of the Holy Spirit as HE.
A. T. Jones, The Medical Missionary p. 98, 1907

Where the Holy Spirit Leads

"The Holy Spirit leads people into truth (When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come. John 16:13).
We’re commanded to know the truth (..by those who believe and
know the truth.
1 Timothy 4:3),

handle the truth accurately (Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15).

and avoid doctrinal untruths (who have swerved from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some. 2 Timothy 2:18).

Christ’s disciples do the truth (But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” John 3:21

and abide in the truth (So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32)."

SDA Issues: To the anti-trinitarian rebels among us who misquote DA 785

All things Christ received from God, but He took to give. So in the heavenly courts, in His ministry for all created beings: through the beloved Son, the Father’s life flows out to all; through the Son it returns, in praise and joyous service, a tide of love, to the great Source of all.E.G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 21

"Our opponents use this statement to prove that Jesus received His life from the Father. All means all, including His life. However, careful look into the statement proves otherwise:

A. The statements plainly tells us the purpose of receiving "all", and that is to give. For whom? "For all CREATED BEINGS." What he received from the Father was for the benefit of all created beings
NOT FOR HIMSELF.

B. This is in perfect harmony with her other statement in the same book.
"ALL CREATED BEINGS live by the will and power of God. They are dependent RECIPIENTS OF THE LIFE OF GOD. From the HIGHEST SERAPH TO THE HUMBLEST ANIMATE BEING, ALL ARE REPLENISHED FROM THE SOURCE OF LIFE." DA 785.

Does "ALL life" include the life of Jesus? NO. Only the life of "all created beings." These created beings are "recipients of the life of God." Jesus is not recipient because He is not a created being.

The Bible tells us that his "goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." Micah 5:2. He is the "Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the End."
So, When DA21 says "THRHOUGH THE BELOVED SON, the FATHER'S LIFE FLOWS OUT TO ALL; THROUGH THE SON IT RETURNS...to the GREAT SOURCE OF ALL," remember DA785 that it means "the Father's life flows to all created beings" and returns "to the great source of all created beings."

C. We can also see that, "all created beings," "through the Son IT RETURNS, in praise and joyous service, a tide of love, to the GREAT SOURCE OF ALL."
Notice: "Created beings" return praise and joyous service to the Father through the Son. But the statement doesn't say that Jesus also returns praise and service to the Father. This destroys the intent of the statement.
First, it says "all created beings."
Second, the focus is on the ministry of Jesus for us not for the Father.

D. The life of Jesus is "exclusively the property of God. The Word, who was with God, and who was God, had this life." 1SM 296. Here we see "the property of God (singular)" but mentioned "the Word (God) who was with God (Father)." Singular God but two persons. It plainly puts Jesus into equality with the Father as God and have equal life as God. This imortality was and is "in Him." No one gave it to Him because IT'S HIS PERSONAL PROPERTY AS GOD.

Then it goes on to say that "
Physical life is something which each individual receives." If we continue, even immortal "life is not inherent in man...it is GIVEN him as a free gift.
Both physical life and immortal life are given to man.
Remember that Ellen is contrasting our life and the life of Jesus here. Man's life is given. "But the life of Christ was unborrowed...In Him was life, original, unborrowed, underived." Basically, if the life of man is "given," then the life of Jesus is not given. Very clear contrast.
Why would Ellen White say that man's life is given and contrast it with the unborrowed and underived life of Jesus when in reality she was also teaching that Jesus recieved His from the Father? That's a blatant contradiction.

They also argue that Jesus inherited His divinity from the Father by virtue of birth. Just like our children inherit our nature by birth. But the question is, when you received your life from your parents, does it become your original, unborrowed and underived life? Our life is inherited. But the life of Jesus is inherent in Him in contrast to ours. To inherit means to receive it by inheritance or by genetic transmission. But inherent doesn't include any of that. It means it's your permanent nature. It's your essence. No one gave it to you."

Spurgeon on the Divinity of Christ

The mighty God. Isaiah 9:6

"The term here used for God, El, is taken from a Hebrew or root, which, as I take it, signifies strength; and perhaps a literal translation even of that title might be, "The Strong one," the strong God.
But there is added to this an adjective in the Hebrew, expressive of mightiness, and the two taken together express the omnipotence of Christ, His real deity and His omnipotence, as standing first and foremost among the attributes which the prophet beheld.

First let note point out THE FOLLY OF THOSE WHO PROFESS TO BE THE DISCIPLES OF CHRIST, YET DO NOT, AND WILL, NOT, CALL HIM GOD

---We do continually affirm that an error, with regard to the divinity
of Christ, is absolutely fatal, and that a man cannot be right in his judgment upon any part of the gospel unless he think rightly of him who is personally the very center of all the purposes of heaven, and the foundation of all the hopes of earth.

The
Unitarians must, to be existent, charge the whole of us, who worship Christ, with being idolators. Now idolatry is a sin of the most heinous character;
--
You have so insulted us by denying the Godhead of Christ, you have charged us with so great a crime, that you cannot expect us to sit coolly down and blandly smile at the imputation.

If Christ were not the Son of God, His death, so far from being a satisfaction for sin, was a death most richly and righteously deserved. The Sanhedrim before which He was tried was the recognized and authorized legislature of the country.
--He was brought before that Sanhedrim, charged with blasphemy, and it was upon that charge that they condemned him to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

We will write this on the forefront of our banner, —Christ is God; co-equal and co-eternal with His Father; very God of very God, who counted it not robbery to be equal with God."
Charles Spurgeon

What does "Godhead" mean?

"The term “Godhead” is used three times in the Bible:
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device” (Acts 17:29, KJV).
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:20, KJV).
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9, KJV).

Other translations (NASB, NIV, ESV) use different terms in place of “Godhead” – divine nature/being (Acts 17:29), divine nature (Romans 1:20), and deity (Colossians 2:9). These are helpful in understanding the meaning of the term.

Godhead” is about nature or possessing the characteristics of God.

Another term that may be easier to understand would be “Godhood.” This would be similar to “manhood” or “brotherhood” – possessing the characteristics of “men” or “brethren.” Those in the “Godhead” are part of the “Godhood” – possessing the characteristics of God."

How Pagan Stoic Influence CREPT into Rome's version of the "Trinity"

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 1:4

"Under the influence of Stoic philosophy, Tertullian believes that all real things are material. God is a spirit, but a spirit is a material thing made out of a finer sort of matter.
*At the beginning, God is alone, though He has His own reason
within Him.
*Then, when it is time to create, He brings the Son into existence, using but not losing a portion of His spiritual matter.
*Then the Son, using a portion of the divine matter shared with Him, brings into existence the Spirit.
And the two of them are God’s instruments, His agents, in the creation and governance of the cosmos.

The Son, on this theory, is not God Himself, nor is He divine in the same sense that the Father is. Rather, the Son is “divine” in that He is made of a portion of the matter that the Father is composed of.
This makes them “one substance” or not different as to essence.
But the Son isn’t the same god as the Father, though He can, because of what He’s made of, be called “God”.
Nor is there any tripersonal God here, but only a tripersonal portion of matter - that smallest portion shared by all three.
The one God is sharing a portion of His stuff with another, by causing another to exist out of it, and then this other turns around and does likewise, sharing some of this matter with a third.

Against the common believers concerned with monotheism,
Tertullian argues that although the above process results in two more who can be called “God”, it does not introduce two more gods - not gods in the sense that Yahweh is a god.
There is still, as there can only be, one ultimate source of all else, the Father. Thus, monotheism is upheld. The one God is unipersonal both at the start and the end of this process. Nor are the persons equally divine; Tertullian holds that the Son is “ignorant of the last day and hour, which is known to the Father only” (Tertullian, Praxeas, ch. 27; Matthew 24:36).

Q: What is Tertullian’s answer to his “monarchian” critics?
A: He strongly emphasizes that these are truly three; none of the
three is identical to any other. They are “undivided” in the sense that the Father, in sharing some of His matter, never loses any; rather, that matter comes to simultaneously compose more than one being.  The Father is one entity, the Son is a second, and the Spirit is a third. Nor are they parts of any whole; the latter two simply share some of the Father’s divine stuff.

Tertullian does not argue that the three compose or otherwise are the one God. Instead, Tertullian replies that a king may share his one kingdom with subordinate rulers, and yet it may still be one kingdom. Likewise, God (i.e. the Father) may share the governance of the cosmos with His Son (Praxeas, ch. 4)

Despite these fundamental differences from later orthodoxy, Tertullian is now hailed by trinitarians for his use of the term “Trinity” (Latin: trinitas) and his view that it (at the last stage) consists of three persons with a common or shared “substance”.
StanfordEncyclopediaOfPhilosophy

A Plural-- yet --Monotheistic God

"Monotheism (the belief in one deity) was unique to God’s people in the Old Testament. Moses said, “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!” (Deuteronomy 6:4).

The New Testament plainly teaches that there is one God. Paul described the idols as “so-called gods” because “there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one”
(1 Corinthians 8:4-5).

While the Scriptures are clear that there is one God, they also describe three persons of God.
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are each referred to as “God” in the New Testament.

The Father is God –
For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this
was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, ‘This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased
’” (2 Peter 1:17).

The Son (Jesus) is God –
But of the Son He says, ‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom” (Hebrews 1:8).
The Holy Spirit is God –
“But Peter said, ‘Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of land? […] You have not lied to men but to God’” (Acts 5:3-4).

Though we do not find the term “Trinity” being used in the Bible, we can see from the passages above that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all God."
