"On 30 June 1860, there occurred an event which, in the minds of
many people, was the turning point for the public acceptance of the theory of evolution in its confrontation with Christianity. This event was the debate between the agnostic Thomas Huxley, who came to be known as ‘Darwin’s bulldog’, and the Anglican Bishop of Oxford, Samuel Wilberforce, son of the famous anti-slavery politician, William Wilberforce. 

 

Wilberforce began the debate and, after making several scientific points, concluded with Paley’s argument that a watch implies the existence of a watchmaker, and similarly design in nature implies the existence of a Designer.

Huxley then arose and is said to have put forward his now well-known argument that six eternal monkeys or apes typing on six eternal typewriters with unlimited amounts of paper and ink could, given enough time, produce a Psalm, a Shakespearean sonnet, or even a whole book, purely by chance that is, by random striking of the keys.

In the course of his presentation Huxley pretended to find the 23^rd Psalm among the reams of written gibberish produced by his six imaginary apes at their typewriters.  

Let us imagine a special typewriter, ‘user-friendly’ to apes, with 50 keys, comprised of 26 capital letters, 10 numbers, one space bar, and 13 symbols for punctuation, etc. For the sake of simplicity we shall disregard lower-case letters and settle for typing all to be in capitals, and we shall disregard leap years.

 

Q: How long would it take an operator, on the average, to correctly type the 23^rd Psalm, by randomly striking keys? To obtain the answer, let us first consider the first verse of the Psalm, which reads: ‘THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I SHALL NOT WANT.’

 

According to the Multiplication Rule of Probability (in simplified form) the chance of correctly typing the three designated letters ‘THE’ from possibilities is 1 in 50 x 50 x 50, which equals 125,000. At a rate of one strike per second, the average time taken to make 125,000 strikes is 34.72 hours.

The chance of randomly typing the eight keys (seven letters and one space) in the right sequence for the two words THE LORD is 1 in 50 x 50 … eight times (i.e. 50⁸). This is 1 chance in 39,062 billion. There are 31,536,000 seconds in a year, so the average time taken in years to make 39,062 billion strikes at the rate of one strike per second would be 1,238,663.7 years.

The time taken on the average to correctly type the whole of verse 1 of the 23^rd Psalm, which contains 42 letters, punctuation, and spaces, would be 50⁴² divided by 31,536,000 (seconds in a year), which is 7.2 x 10⁶³ years.

And the time taken on the average to correctly type the whole of the 23^rd Psalm, made up of 603 letters, verse numbers, punctuation, and spaces, would be 50⁶⁰³ divided by 31,536,000 which is 9.552 x 10¹⁰¹⁶ years. 

If the letter ‘b’ stands for billion (10⁹), this could be written as about one bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb years.

Franco-Prussian War Influence on Nietzsche's Warped Worldview

"Nietzsche served in the Prussian forces during the Franco-Prussian

War (1870–1871) as a medical orderly. In his short time in the military, he experienced much and witnessed the traumatic effects of battle. In January 1889 he suffered a complete mental breakdown which rendered him an invalid for the rest of his life.

 

Nietzsche’s views on war apparently changed after he performed paramedical duties during the Franco-Prussian War. Or did he merely oppose Prussian attitudes? "James L. Bonewits, 27, faces two counts of Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder related to the violence that unfolded around 7:20 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of Whitelock Street, near the county fairgrounds.

So many people in Huntington are still shocked after a quadruple stabbing happened in the city leaving a couple dead. Family members are remembering them and calling for justice.

Katelyn and Danny England were fatally stabbed in Huntington Thursday night. 

Police say two other people were stabbed as well and are in critical

condition. Katelyn’s sister, Jessica Houston, says the couple was loving and cared for so many. She says they’re leaving behind a four-year-old son and 2-year-old triplets.

 

Huntington City Police say it all happened Thursday night when they received a call about a stabbing in a home on Whitelock Street. Police arrested the suspect 27-year-old James Bonewits for the crime Friday morning. 

He was first seen in court Monday.

 

--When officers arrived and found a woman on the ground in front of a home suffering from multiple stab wounds, and a man on a back porch with a severe cut to his arm and a large laceration to his chest.

The man – identified as Danny England – was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman – Katelyn (Huddleston) England – would die at a hospital later.

 

--Inside the back door of a home, another man – Beau Williamson – was found with numerous cuts to his torso. “I don’t want to die,” he said repeatedly, the affidavit said.

 

--Another man was found on the floor of a bathroom also suffering from numerous cuts to his torso. Terry Saulmon II told investigators he heard screaming and found his neighbor on the ground outside and when he went outside a man with “dark scraggly hair” and dark facial hair attacked him with knives with orange handles, the affidavit said.

 

About an hour before the violence on Whitelock Street, a suspicious person report was made in Bluffton, “with a male fitting our suspect’s description,” the affidavit said. In that situation, police were called to the Family Farm and Home store on a report that a man was there holding two orange-handled knives, the affidavit said.

The man drove off in a silver sedan before police arrived.

Police were able to find the suspect’s vehicle with traffic footage, and found it was registered to Bonewits. 

 

--Around 9 p.m. then, police in Madison County received a report about a suspicious vehicle that was parked in a vacant property. Deputies were told a male parked a silver Impala there and walked toward a wood line.

When police arrived, inside the vehicle, they found two knives with orange handles and blood on them sitting in the car, the affidavit said.

--Around 10 a.m. the next morning, Bonewits was found in a field in Madison County. His clothing was stained in blood, the affidavit said. He was taken into custody and later transported back to Huntington County." WANEtv

The Aspire Food Group says it will produce roughly two billion crickets every year for your delection.

A report from Canadian Manufacturing states that “Crickets are currently being explored as a protein-rich superfood. They contain fibre and are already found in grocery stores and restaurants, and have a smaller environmental footprint than traditional protein sources.”

The move is the latest in a growing trend of pushing bug eating on the masses as a way of saving the planet."
