"The worship of the beast and his image and the receiving of his mark must be something that involves the greatest offense that can be committed against God, to call down so severe a denunciation of wrath against it.

Prideaux says that Ptolemy Philopater ordered all the Jews who applied to be enrolled as citizens of Alexandria to have the form of an ivy leaf (the badge of his god, Bacchus) impressed upon them with a hot iron, under pain of death.

The word used for mark in this prophecy is {GREEK CHARACTERS IN PRINTED TEXT}, charagma, and is defined to mean, "a graving, sculpture; a mark cut in or stamped."

It occurs nine times in the New Testament, and with the single exception of Acts 17: 29, refers every time to the mark of the beast.

Of course, we are not to understand in this symbolic prophecy that a literal mark is intended, but the giving of the literal mark, as practiced in ancient times, is used as a figure to illustrate certain acts that will be performed in the fulfillment of this prophecy.

From the literal mark as formerly employed, we learn something of its meaning as used in the prophecy, for between the symbol and the thing symbolized there must be some resemblance.
The mark as literally used,
--signified that the person receiving it was the servant of the person whose mark he bore,
--acknowledged his authority,
--and professed allegiance to him.
So the mark of the beast, or of the papacy, must be some act or profession by which the authority of that power is acknowledged."

"The Epistle to the Hebrews shows that the leading apostle clearly taught the antitypical fulfilment of the types and shadows celebrated for so many years.

----It should not be forgotten that the gift of the Spirit of prophecy and the Sabbath of the Lord were always connected with the sanctuary service.

We have no reason to doubt that during the early history of the Christian church, the subject of the sanctuary and the antitypical work of Christ in heaven was clearly understood by the Christians; but when the Bible was taken from them,

---and the voice of the Spirit of prophecy was no longer heard directing the church,
then they lost sight of the beautiful antitypical work represented by the ancient sanctuary service.

But the time arrived for the opening of the great judgment in heaven, when the Father and the Son, with their retinue of holy angels, passed in state into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary.
No earthly pageant could ever compare with that majestic cortege.

God designed that it should be recognized on earth, and He caused a message to be proclaimed to the inhabitants of earth, directing their attention to the movements of the Son of God. This is known as the first angel's message of Rev.14:6,7.

A large company accepted the message and their attention was centered on the Savior; but they did not understand the antitypical work of the sanctuary, and hence they expected the Savior to come to the earth.
Instead of coming to the earth, however, He went into the second apartment of the heavenly sanctuary, to take up the work of the judgment. 

The sanctuary service, the Sabbath, and the Spirit of prophecy were ever united in olden times; and when light from the antitypical sanctuary service came to the people of God, He gave them the Spirit of prophecy again, to reveal to them the solemn truths in regard to Christ's ministry in heaven, which otherwise they would not have comprehended."

The patient, technically dead at this point, was removed from the cooling system and taken to an operating theatre for a two-hour surgical procedure before having their blood restored and being warmed to the normal temperature of 37C.
He says that his focus is on pausing life long enough to perform emergency surgery rather than sending astronauts on interstellar journeys.
Prof Tisherman says that there may be a drug, or cocktail of drugs, that can help minimise these injuries but, he says: “but we haven’t identified all the causes of reperfusion injuries yet”."

That’s how Thomas Power, an associate professor at Tokyo’s Meiji University, interprets a recent decision taken by the Japanese government.
Early this week, the government announced that it would recognize the Pope with the Japanese characters 教皇, transliterated as Kyō-kō, rather than 法王, pronounced Hōō.
The Catholic Church in Japan has used those characters for over 40 years to identify the Bishop of Rome.

The previous Hōō is similar to the term used for the highest ranking official in Buddhism, and means “Emperor of Law”.

Creation Moment 11/24/2019 - 5th Force of Nature?

"Now we have all sinned and come short--that is what Paul means--we have "missed the mark."

Then the more righteousness of the law a man has the worse he is off--the more ragged is he.

Now turn to Zech. 3:1-8. Mrs. White declares this chapter to be a prophecy of this present time.
Here we have Joshua standing clothed in his own righteousness and Christ takes it off and clothes him with the righteousness of God.

Now Joshua had been doing the best he could, but would he have been saved? No. How often we hear people say "I do the best I can," and believe they will be saved.
Joshua was reclothed and was to stand with the angels.
If then our righteousness is all taken away and Christ clothes us with God's righteousness, then to walk in his law, we will stand with the angels.

Q: Why did the Savior came as an infant instead of a man?
To die on the cross would have met the penalty.
A: Because he lived a child and met all the temptations a child meets and never sinned--so that any child can stand in his place and resist in his strength; and he lived also as a youth, a man full grown, weaving for us a robe of righteousness to cover us (not to cover our filthy garments as that would be a mixture), takes the filthy garment away and puts his own in their place, so that all may have it if they will.

Q: Now if the righteousness is the gift of God, and comes by the gospel, then what is the use of the law?
A: The law entered that the offense might abound, Rom. 3:19--the law speaks to sinners that all may become guilty before God to show people their guilt.
Now verse 20, the law is to reveal sin to us unrighteousness, not righteousness--Christ reveals the latter, the law the former.

The law of God cannot allow a single sin in any degree whatever. If it did and condoned even a single thought that was not perfect it would sink a soul into perdition.
The law is perfect.
If it accepts imperfection the Lord must accept it and admit that he is imperfect, because the law is the representation of his character.
In the fact that the law demands perfection lies the hope of all mankind, because if it could overlook a sin to a single degree, no one could ever be free from sin, as the law would never make that sin known and it could never be forgiven, by which alone man can be saved.

The day is coming when the law will have revealed the last sin and we will stand perfect before him and be saved with an eternal salvation. The perfection of the law of God is that it will show us all our sins, and then a perfect Savior stands ready to take them all away.
When God makes known all our sins it is not to condemn us, but to save us, so it is a token of his love for us, therefore, whenever a sin is made known to you, it is a token of God's love for you because the Savior stands ready to take it away. That is why God has given us a Savior and the gospel.

 To keep his commandments, then, means that we shall be as good as God is, so we read in 1 John 3:7: "He that doeth righteousness, is righteous even as he is righteous."
Now see Psalms 119:138, Deuteronomy 6:35, Isaiah 59:7--the people who do the law of God are righteous, even as God is righteous, then to keep them means that man must be like God in character."

"Because Darwinism is built on philosophical naturalism, evidence can be moved around as needed.

Evolutionists never seem worried about out-of-place fossils.
Why is that?
The reason is that the philosophy of naturalism is the driving force that keeps Darwinism going.
Darwinians think like this:
(1) Naturalism must be our worldview.
(2) Darwinism seems to be the best theory within naturalism.
(3) If problems are found in Darwinism, there isn’t any competition, so we can just shuffle parts of the story around. This non-falsifiable strategy allows them to believe in the Popeye Theory of Evolution, the Cambrian explosion, and any other rearrangement as long as naturalism is preserved.
Even a Precambrian rabbit could probably be accommodated by a sufficiently talented just-so storyteller.

New fossil pushes back physical evidence of insect pollination to 99 million years ago (Indiana University at Bloomington). A fossil in amber has just doubled the evolutionary age of insect pollination.

The newly reported fossil is described Nov. 11 in the

journal of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The fossil, which contains both the beetle and pollen grains, pushes back the earliest documented instance of insect pollination to a time when pterodactyls still roamed the skies — or about 50 million years earlier than previously thought.

The paper, published in PNAS, is titled “Pollination of Cretaceous Flowers.” After stating that the oldest known insect pollinator previously dated from 42 million to 45 million Darwin Years, while the new one is twice that (99 million), they conclude, “Our finding thereby extends the known geological range of direct evidence of insect pollination of angiosperm by at least 50 million years.” Darwinian dating can stretch twice its length in an instant. The reaction seems to be, ‘Well, how about that? (yawn).’ The Darwin worship service continues without interruption.

Stretchable Darwin Years work just as well in geology as in biology. This is because both fields are wedded to naturalism, and Darwin needs lots of time. In this case, the moyboy age of the Nile River didn’t just double. It sextupled!

The Nile’s unchanging path, however, has been a geologic mystery because long-lived rivers usually move over time.

Researchers at The University of Texas at Austin have cracked the case by linking the river’s flow to the movement of rock in the Earth’s deep mantle. In the course of their investigation, they found the eternal river to be much older than anyone realized, with the scientists estimating the age of the Nile to be 30 million years – about six times as long as previously thought.

To Darwin himself, the Cambrian fossil record was the most serious evidence against his theory. He hoped more fossils would fill in the gap from the Precambrian to the explosion of complex forms at the base of the Cambrian. They haven’t.
The evidence is more problematic for evolution than ever. This huge gap was so powerful to Yale computer scientist David Gelernter, after he read Darwin’s Doubt, he abandoned Darwinism. But today’s evolutionists, wedded as they are to naturalism, can look at Cambrian fossils of exquisite preservation and yawn.

The lower Cambrian Lagerstätte of Sirius Passet, Peary Land, North Greenland, is one of the oldest of the Phanerozoic exceptionally preserved biotas. The Lagerstätte evidences the escalation of numbers of new body plans and life modes that formed the basis for a modern, functionally tiered ecosystem. The fauna is dominated by predators, infaunal, benthic and pelagic, and the presence of abundant nekton, including large sweep-net feeders, suggests an ecosystem rich in nutrients. Recent discoveries have helped reconstruct digestive systems and their contents, muscle fibres, and visual and nervous systems for a number of taxa. New collections have confirmed the complex combination of taphonomic pathways associated with the biota and its potentially substantial biodiversity.

Because naturalism is a given, the 7 authors of this paper do not feel threatened with falsification and shame. Their reaction seems to be, ‘Well, how about that? (yawn).’ Darwinism, the Stuff Happens Law, takes care of it. Digestive systems, muscles, eyes, nervous systems — what’s the problem? They just pop into existence."

So that before Christ was literally lifted up on the cross, before the time of his manifestation at the first advent, there was the same power in him to save; and his general relation to the plan of salvation was the same then as now.

Creation Moment 11/21/2019 - No Shadowing = NO BIG BANG

And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,...And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. Genesis 1:17,19

".....the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation, ‘light’ allegedly from the big bang fireball, casts no shadows in the foreground of galaxy clusters.

If the big bang were true, the light from the fireball should cast a shadow in the foreground of all galaxy clusters. This is because the source of the CMB radiation, in standard big bang cosmology, is what is known as the “last scattering surface”.

The CMB radiation shadowing effect, or more precisely the cooling effect, by galaxy clusters is understood in terms of the Sunyaev–Zel’dovich Effect (SZE).
This is where microwave photons are isotropically scattered by electrons in the hot inter-cluster medium (ICM) via an inverse Compton process leaving a net decrement (or cooling) in the foreground towards the observer in the solar system.

Of those CMB photons coming from behind the galaxy cluster less emerge with the same trajectory due to the scattering. Even though the scattered photons pick up energy from the ICM the number of more energetic CMB photons is reduced. After modelling what this new CMB photon energy (hence temperature) should be, a decrement can, in principle, be detected.

Starting around 2003 some published investigations, using this SZE, looked for the expected shadowing/cooling effect in galaxy clusters. No significant cooling effect was found, by multiple studies, including the WMAP satellite data.

A new analysis method (published 2013) confirmed that there was a measured cooling effect attributed to the SZE in about 100 clusters selected using the SZE or by their X-ray emissions.
However in about 10,000 optically selected clusters the opposite result was found, where the mean temperature rises to about 10 μK, an increment not a decrement.
The scattered CMB photons are hotter than expected. There is a heating not a cooling effect observed in front of all those 10,000 clusters."

IN the NEWS - Chick-fil-A lesson for Christians

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble

Many Christians rally round Chick-fil-A because the owner had opposed gay marriage for Biblical reasons and by extension took heat in the public arena as a company. (The reality is that the protesters of Chick-fil-A over Gay Marriage don't so much Hate Chick-fil-A, but rather Hate the God, and the rules of that God, whom the owner adhered to).
But the Lesson here is that  Chick-fil-A has caved to pressure from those who are at enmity with God.
Despite Chick-fil-A being the fastest growing food chain currently in America, they have gotten greedy for more business-rather than being satisfied with what they have.
They have tossed charities and a church denomination to the wayside for praise or acceptance from the world.
THE LESSON: Chick-fil-A is a secular business and as such will not put God's Word first. Christians should always keep this in mind--it's not just you they betrayed for your support--but it is God they have betrayed for a few more almighty dollars....

This means the Chick-fil-A Foundation will no longer donate to the Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and the Paul Anderson Youth Home, Bisnow reported.
Chick-fil-A is the third-largest fast-food chain in the United States in sales.

Its official corporate purpose is “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A.” APPARENTLY NOT

When "friends" of God's Work Pose a Threat

Open opposition may be fierce and cruel, but it is fraught with far less peril to God's cause than is the secret enmity of those who, while professing to serve God, are at heart the servants of Satan.

Every device that the prince of darkness can suggest will be employed to induce God's servants to form a confederacy with the agents of Satan. But, like Nehemiah, they should reply, "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down." (Nehemiah 6:3).

"Prophets" SIMPLIFIED

And many false prophets shall rise,

 and shall deceive many.

"In the common use of the word, a “prophet”

---is one that foretells;

---but the word sometimes means simply a “teacher”.

 

True and false prophets may be known.

 

The prophets of God are

---teachers of purity,

---reprovers of sin,

---and faithful in warning the people of coming dangers.

The duties of those whom God calls to speak in his great name are clearly expressed by the sacred writers.

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

Isaiah 58:1
I charge you therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine.

2 Timothy 4:1-2

False prophets

---do not reprove the people for their sins, and

---do not warn them of coming danger;

---but they proclaim peace to the sinner.

Their teachings lead from God and His word, and are such as please the unconverted mind.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn, away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2 Timothy 4:3-4

Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them. Jeremiah 14:13-14
And my hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies; .... Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered mortar. Ezekiel 13:910

Stephen L. Talbott, a New Atlantis contributing editor, is a

senior researcher at The Nature Institute in Ghent, New York…. Before coming to the Nature Institute, Mr. Talbott did software work and technical writing for engineering organizations of computer manufacturers, ran a family organic farm in Oregon, and completed academic work in philosophy.

Talbott is a member  of “The Third Way of Evolution,” a group of evolutionary scientists who are critical of the sufficiency of neo-Darwinism to explain biological complexity. ....this group complains that “some Darwinists have elevated Natural Selection into a creative force that solves all the difficult problems without a real empirical basis.” They seek to upgrade evolution so that it is adequate “in the era of genomics and epigenomics.”
