Creation Moment 4/13/2026 - Feeble Attempt by Darwinians to Misuse Snowflake Uniqueness

Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in Thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. Psalm 136:16

"Some evolutionists will point to examples of self-organization in crystals or snowflakes as proof that unique, one-of-a-kind designs can come about through natural processes.

But ice crystals and snowflakes, no matter how beautifully designed they may appear, do not disprove the formula we discussed. 
Q: Why? 
A: Because (in our snowflake example) H2O already contains the natural ability to be arranged in various six-sided patterns when subject to below-zero temperatures due to its inherent properties. Water crystals always form six-sided shapes.

Q: How are snowflakes formed?
A: A snowflake begins to form when an extremely cold water droplet freezes onto a pollen or dust particle in the sky. This creates an ice crystal. As the ice crystal falls to the ground, water vapor freezes onto the primary crystal, building new crystals—the six arms of the snowflake.
That’s the short answer.
The more detailed explanation is this:
The ice crystals that make up snowflakes are symmetrical (or patterned) because they reflect the internal order of the crystal’s water molecules as they arrange themselves in predetermined spaces (known as “crystallization”) to form a six-sided snowflake. . . .

Q: So, why are no two snowflakes exactly alike?
A: Well, that’s because individual snowflakes all follow slightly
different paths from the sky to the ground—and thus encounter slightly different atmospheric conditions along the way
. Therefore, they all tend to look unique, resembling everything from prisms and needles to the familiar lacy pattern.


Unfortunately for our naturalistically minded friends, the chemicals that make up DNA do not contain any special superpowers that could have caused them to arrange themselves into the most sophisticated coded language system we have ever seen. 
 DNA only contains information because of the arrangement it has, not because of the sugar, phosphates, and bases it’s made of."

Creation Moment 1/22/2025 - Watermelon snow

 For He saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; Job 37:6

"Algae can turn fallen snow different colors including green, brown, and even pink. “Watermelon snow” is pink because of ice-loving
algae (Chlamydomonas nivalis) that blooms when the sun heats up, turning the snow a rosy hue. 
Watermelon snow comes in shades of red and green, like a watermelon. Often, this snow even has a sweet, fruity scent. Any of a number of types of algae and cyanobacteria produce watermelon snow, including Chlamydomonas nivalis, Chlamydomonas alpina, Mesotaenium bregrenii, and Chlorooceae cyanobacterium. 
This type of snow is common in alpine and polar regions worldwide, where it may also be called blood snow or pink snow. The green color comes from chlorophyll, while the red hue comes from astaxanthin, a carotenoid pigment that also colors flamingos, crabs, and salmon that feed on algae. 
Watermelon snow has ecological importance, as it 
--acts as a food source for many organisms 
--and affects the rate of snow melt. 
The melted water is a water supply not just for the algae, but also for animals in winter."

Creation Moment 1/21/2025 - Snow’s Secret Garden

"Snow’s microscopic ecosystem of algae, fungi, and bacteria could be helping maintain a healthy biosphere on earth. 

We know these microbes play a role in cycling nutrients and carbon, and we’re still learning what else they do. 
The more information we harvest from snow’s secret garden, the more we marvel at God’s handiwork. 
Despite their differences, both spring and snow remind us of the Creator of life.

Snowflakes
form around a particle—anything from a speck of dust to a microbe like bacteria—which makes them unique from sleet and hail. Sleet is made of frozen raindrops, and hail is made of sleet droplets that collect water as they fall."

Creation Moment 12/28/2023 - Learning from the SELF-ASSEMBLY of the Creator's DESIGN

"Look closely at a snowflake, and you’ll observe a one-of-a-kind gossamer lattice, its growth influenced by ambient conditions like temperature and humidity. Turns out, this sort of intricate self-
assemblage
can also occur in metals.“Self-assembly is the way nature makes nanostructures,” she says. “We’re trying to learn to do the same things.” Figuring out how to craft tiny, complex metal shapes in fewer steps and with less energy could be a boon for manufacturers.

The researchers chose gallium as a growth medium, due to its relatively low melting point, ability to dissolve many other metals and the tendency for its atoms to loosely organize while in a liquid state.
After mixing zinc into the gallium, the team subjected the alloy to elevated temperatures and different pressures, and then let the mixture cool to room temperature. The loose ordering of gallium atoms appeared to coax the crystallizing zinc to bloom into symmetrical, hexagonal structures resembling natural snowflakes and other shapes, the team found. It’s somewhat like how a fruit tray imparts order on the fruits stacked within, Gaston says.

The future may be bright for research into applications of gallium and other low-temperature liquid metals. “Not to take that snowflake metaphor too far, but [this work] really hints at new branches for scientific discovery,” Gaston says."

Creation Moment 12/8/2021 - What Snowflakes Tell Us....

For he saith to the snow, 
Be thou on the earth... Job 37:6
FREE WILL is everywhere. Not only with humans----but even in Nature through Nature's own watered down form known as Randomness... this Randomness can be seen in the creation of a single snowflake----all the steps open to a multitude of Possibilities can create BILLIONS of Unique ones.
Whether Free Will for Humans---or Randomness in Nature---we see UNIQUENESS as a DESIGN of the Creator=Sign of Creation.

"In cold weather, drops of water in the atmosphere

freeze into ice crystals. As many as 200 crystals
stick together to form a snowflake.

Conditions like air temperature and humidity
determine the snowflake’s shape. 
 
Colder air makes snowflakes with sharper tips.
Warmer air forms crystals more slowly, so they
develop rounder shapes. Less moisture in the air
makes simpler shapes, and high humidity makes
fancier shapes.
 
Snowflakes grow and change even more as they
fall from the sky. 
 
So each snowflake is unique, even
though billions of them can fall in one snowstorm." ICR

Creation Moment 12/22/2011 - Snowflake Bentley

Wilson Bentley (1865-1931) is the man who first photographed a snowflake. As a scientist, he said "...snowflakes were miracles of beauty". He discovered that no two snowflakes are alike, despite the estimated over a trillion, trillion that fall on earth each year. He believed it was the design of the Creator God.

Most snowflakes have 6 branches. A few have 3. Types of snow chrystals include diamond dust (tiniest chrystals which make up the cirrus clouds), stellar dendrites (the larger, leafy looking ones), monster chrystals (largest), and sectored plates (broad branched chrystals).

And why is snow white? Snow is chrystal-clear. So it reflects all light equally -which makes it look white.

The ultimate beauty in Creation isn't in the largest, but rather in the details of the smallest-from the snowflake to the single cell complexity. There is the ultimate handiwork of the Creator.
