SDA Issues - Peruvian Paganism Comes Knocking on the Church Door

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies,... 2 Peter 2:1

"On June 5, 2025, the Methodist Church of Peru published a news report announcing the creation of the Interfaith Forest Initiative (IRI) Cusco. This ecumenical alliance was established in the historic city
of Cusco, located in the Peruvian Andes and formerly the capital of the Inca Empire.
Seventh-day Adventists in Peru are part of this organization that is openly calling for a “deep spiritual commitment and respect for Pachamama” and the need to come into harmony with nature.

There is a serious problem when Seventh-day Adventists unite with or join environmental groups that openly advocate for the reverence or respect of ancient pagan deities.
The Methodist Church of Peru published the following on June 5, 2025:
With a deep spiritual commitment and respect for Pachamama, the earth, the Interfaith Forest Initiative (IRI) Cusco was officially launched, an alliance between faith communities to protect the Amazon forests and the people who inhabit them. Excellent news on Environment Day!”
This is a sacred moment that calls us to care for our common home. We have no other planet, so we must live in harmony with nature and stop damaging it.”
IRI Cusco was created to confront this threat, bringing together representatives from the Catholic Church, the Methodist Church of Peru, the Southern Andean Inca District (SAI), the Adventist Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Bahá’í community, Andean spiritualities, and the National University of San Antonio Abad, among other entities.”
The mission of IRI Cusco is to promote care for creation, reforest rural areas, prevent fires, and foster a respectful relationship with nature.”
Francesco Galiano, coordinator of IRI Cusco, emphasized that this union marks a key moment for integrating faith with environmental action. Congresswoman Ruth Luque also participated in this launch, expressing her hope that this space will inspire spiritual care for Mother Earth.”

This is clearly an ecumenical effort aimed at promoting rituals and ideologies rooted
--in ancient pagan traditions
--celebrating the Earth as a divine entity
--and invoking Amazonian spirits—practices completely contrary to the teachings of Scripture."

ARCHAEOLOGY: Romans 1:25 on Display in Peru

They traded the truth about God for a lie.
So they worshiped and served the things God created
instead of the Creator Himself....
Romans 1:25 NLT

"Archaeologists have unearthed the remains of a 4,000-year-old temple and theater in coastal Peru. The excavation, conducted at the La Otra Banda, Cerro Las Animas site near Chiclayo.
In addition to the temple, the team uncovered what appeared to be a small theater featuring a “stage-like platform.”
One of the most intriguing discoveries was a carving of a mythological bird creature etched into a mud panel near the theater’s staircases.
Muro Ynoñán described the figure as an “anthropomorphic bird” with “some reptilian features.”
These findings could provide crucial insights into the origins of ancient religion in Peru
The Initial Period is important because it’s when we first start to see evidence of an institutionalized religion in Peru,” Muro Ynoñán said. He added that the bird creature resembles figures from the Chavín region, which emerged nearly 500 years later. This new site could help trace the roots of this early religious iconography."

ARCHAEOLOGY: Capacocha Sacrifices - From the Darkened Heart

Because that, when they knew God,
they glorified Him not as God,
neither were thankful;
but became vain in their imaginations,
and their foolish heart was darkened.
Romans 1:21
Capacocha Child Sacrifice: Where the Darkened Heart led to......

"Information on the Inca capacocha can be found in several Spanish colonial documents. One of these, Bernabe Cobo’s Historia del
Nuevo Mundo
, is considered amongst the most reliable of the Spanish chronicles and presents a comprehensive description of Inca myths, religious beliefs, and ceremonies.

The assemblage of seven child burials was discovered in 2004 at Choquepukio, a stratified site in the Cuzco Valley occupied continuously from the Early Intermediate Period (∼400 BC–AD 540) through the Late Horizon (AD 1476–1532) (McEwan, 2006, McEwan et al., 2002, McEwan et al., 1995). During excavations of this site, Choquepukio field directors Gordon McEwan and Arminda Gibaja uncovered an imperial Inca building with an intact floor, dated to AD 1410–1520.
Based on the 87Sr/86Sr range for the Cuzco region, two of the seven children were identified as non-local.
The first individual (CHO 141) exhibited a 87Sr/86Sr value of 0.70910, just above the Cuzco-region range and within the range of the Tiwanaku region of Bolivia (0.7087–0.7105) (Knudson, 2004). The second individual (CHO 142) yielded a 87Sr/86Sr value of 0.70638, well below the Cuzco range. Instead, this 87Sr/86Sr ratio fell into the range observed for Wari.....the Spanish chronicler Betanzos (1996[1557]:132) noted that for the capacocha demanded by the Emperor Pachacuti.

The Inca practiced the sacrificial ritual of capacocha, which
involved
sacrificing children from noble families for various reasons, including gaining political favor with the emperor.
Notable mummies, such as the Llullaillaco Maiden and the Aconcagua mummy, have been discovered in the Andes of Argentina, Chile, and Peru. The Inca had the practice of capacocha, the sacrifice of children often high in the mountains where they would become naturally mummified.

The practice of capacocha was important among the ancient Inca. Most of the time, the sacrifices were children, both boys and girls.
Those sacrificed are often called 'sacrificial victims' today, but it should be noted that it was considered an honor to be chosen to be sacrificed. Those to be sacrificed were often from noble families that sought to gain political favor with the emperor.
Age Of Capacocha Sacrifices:
Boys: Up to 10
Girls: Up to 16

These children were considered to have been
the purest of beings, and were sent to contact the gods
with a message from their people.

These sacrifices were carried out for a number of reasons and on
several occasions. They would be done with the ascension, sickness, or death of the Emperor (or the birth of a son). They would also be done to stop natural disasters.

The children chosen had to be perfect (virgins, no illness, no freckles, no scars, etc.).

The chosen girls would be taken to the "House of the Chosen Women" where they stayed for a while learning to be a priestess. When they turned 14 years old, some became priestesses while the prettiest ones were often sent as tribute to be sacrificed in the capacocha rituals.

On the day of the sacrifice, the child would be fed chicha, a maize alcohol, presumably to ease the pain of the cold, the altitude, and perhaps the fear of dying.
Much ritual celebrating would take place at the platform as the child would be wrapped in ceremonial clothing, placed inside the tomb, and surrounded with the sacred artifacts that would accompany him/her into the Other World.
This was the ultimate sacrifice the Inca could make to please the mountain gods: to offer up their own children in the highest places humans could possibly reach. Once the child died of exposure, the priests would continue to return to the site, making offerings of coca leaves and filling in the burial site with dirt.
Often a miniature figurine of the child would be placed on the surface near the burial site, along with more simple offerings like ichu, wild grass from the slopes thousands of feet below.
A third group went on to be the secondary wives of noblemen or servants and concubines for the emperor.
Those destined to be sacrificed were fed the best diet for a year in preparation for their sacrifice. They could be sacrificed through blunt force to the head, strangulation, or by being buried alive. Females were typically buried with more extravagant grave goods when compared to their male counterparts.

"Beautiful beyond exaggeration," is how one Spanish chronicler
Poma de Ayala (1615)
described
Tanta Carhua. Carhua was a 10-year old Inca child whose father offered her to the Inca Emperor as a Capacocha sacrifice.
She was taken by priests to Cuzco where she met the Inca Emperor, and on her return journey to the mountain where she would be sacrificed the procession passed through her home village. Tanta Carhua was then taken to a high Andean mountain, placed in a shaft-tomb and walled in alive. Chicha, a maize alcohol, was fed to her both before and after her death. And in death, this beautiful ten-year old child became a goddess, speaking to her people as an oracle from the mountain, which was reconsecrated in her name.

Now, as reported in the journal Scientific Reports of the Nature
group, scientists have managed to extract DNA from a lung biopsy of the mummy of the child to sequence the mitochondrial genome. An analysis through which it has been possible to identify a new haplogroup that, until now, had not been detected in contemporary populations, and which has been named C1bi. They believe that the lineage probably came to the area during the first waves of immigration in the Americas
The experts believe that there may still be living descendants of this lineage found in some parts of Peru and Bolivia. They also have noted a high affinity of the haplogroup C1bi in skeletal remains belonging to an individual who lived in the ancient Wari (Huari) empire. "

Archaeology: Response to largest known single day CHILD SACRIFICE on planet earth

But they mingled with the nations. And learned their practices, and served their idols, which became a snare to them. They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons,
and shed innocent blood. The blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idol......And the land was polluted with the blood. Psalm 106:35-38

"Around 1450 AD,
227 children were sacrificed
in the
Peruvian Chimu culture. The theory is that this great sacrifice was made to appease the rain gods because the rain did not stop, flooding the area, ruining the crops and more." Reddit

A Response to a post-Modernist/woke post on Reddit over largest known single day CHILD SACRIFICE on planet earth. [name of Reddit poster will be withheld].

Original Post-Modernist Post:
"Though it seems vile on its surface,
I’m going to put aside my modern perspective and look at this in a more detached way.
In the case of an upcoming famine because of massive crop failure, the children are likely going to die anyway. A slow and painful death that will scar the working adults and also encourage them to waste what little food they do have trying to save their children.
I can see how the leaders might take a decision to kill off some extra mouths to feed, prioritizing the fully grown workers so that there is more chance of saving the civilization as a whole.
The ceremonial religious sacrifice part of it could also serve a purpose, to make those parents feel as if their loss had more meaning, possibly some control over the situation too. Certainly slightly less traumatic than a kill squad going door to door.
Anyway I’m just trying to offer a different perspective, feel free to assume people from radically different times and cultures are simply wrong and evil, and that we are so much more civilized now without any introspection in to how ****** up things still are."

My Response/Observation:
I'm going to try looking at this without a post-modernist/woke/PC lens. Let's view through a Biblical lens.
1) Apparently long before cars, planes and air conditioners, (supposedly causing man-made "global warming") there were droughts. Long before the Climate Change Cult there was" weather" that went through cycles. LIKE TODAY
So now, instead of venerating idols (as our pagan ancestors did) we are more sophisticated in our paganistic veneration of mother earth, we use charts and words like "science" and are willing to sacrifice our standard of living to it and even listen to some who call for "population control" in the name of it (which means, if these people ever fully get their way, someone among us must be sacrificed to appease the mother earth goddess). And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Romans 1:23
2) As our ancestors turned from God along their paths from Babel they turned to False gods as their hearts were darkened. (Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God,
neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Romans 1:21
) to the point that they sacrificed their own children before lifeless pagan deities. Today, there is nothing new. The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9
We too sacrifice our children on the Altar of Self via abortion [snuffing out beating hearts that haven't yet sinned] and even march for it DEMANDING it as a right---despite claiming how enlightened we are today. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9
3) The very fact we have people on cyberspace trying to justify or downplay the evil of killing their own children with the argument that they would probably die anyway speaks volumes of the age of Enlightened Man
Q: Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden? Job 22:15

IN the NEWS - Peruvian Government spills the beans.....

I have seen the foolish taking root: Job 5:3

"Doctors in Mexico City have conducted several laboratory tests on the country's most famous alleged "alien" bodies as the controversy escalates.

Are we alone in the world? This is the question that journalist and self-proclaimed "ufologist" Jaime Maussan is trying to answer.

Last week, Maussan presented two mummified specimens to the Mexican Congress that he claims are the bodies of extraterrestrial beings.

The two small, chalky mummies, with elongated heads and only three fingers on each hand, stunned not only the parliamentarians but many people who watched on TV and online as the drama unfolded.

However, the Peruvian Attorney General's Office, together with the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, had launched an investigation years earlier, when the bodies were found. The investigation found that the figures were "recently manufactured".

"Creations made of animal and human bones joined together with synthetic glue. These in turn were covered with a mixture of plant fibres and synthetic glue to simulate a type of skin," the report added.

During the plenary session of Congress, Maussan stated under oath that they were non-human beings.

He said they were buried in a remote area of Peru and were around 1,000 years old, according to carbon dating tests allegedly carried out by researchers at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)." EUN

ARCHAEOLOGY: Lord of the Snails--- That Coil, Sun Worship & Dead Children

And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Romans 1:23

"When archaeologist Quirino Olivera began excavating Montegrande
(“big hill”) in 2010, he discovered that it was not only bigger, but also much older, than anyone had imagined.
.... just a few feet down, the ceramics disappeared, and Olivera began seeing evidence of architecture on an enormous scale
He uncovered sections of a long, semicircular wall, nine feet tall and coated in beige plaster, that was reached by a staircase made of boulders and packed earth. Later digging seasons, in 2012 and 2016, revealed a wide platform on the mound’s eastern side that would have faced the rising sun
The depth and form of the structure and the absence of ceramics signaled that the mound dates from the late preceramic era,....It could only have been built by an organized, complex society with hierarchies of workers and an agricultural scheme robust enough to feed them
---It would have to have been the kind of society that, according to standing theories, had not yet spread from the cool Pacific coast—where the first known cities of the Americas were already thriving—over the Andes and into the Amazon. And yet, only eight miles from the Marañón River, a large Amazon tributary, the mound conveyed a sense of permanence.
Nothing this big, this old, had ever been excavated in Peru’s Amazon region. “It showed that complex worship, monumental architecture, and fixed societies had spread to the Amazon centuries earlier than once believed,” says Olivera. “The structure is saying: ‘We’re here. We live in a settled society.’” But was it the only one of its kind?

Olivera’s first instinct, as the Montegrande coil emerged, was to
interpret the feature as a giant astronomical instrument. The spiral could be seen as resembling the paths of heavenly bodies. And he noticed that the stones end in a manner that positions the tip of the coil at the spot where the sun rises from behind a distant hill at certain times of year. “The logical inference is that it was built according to an astronomical observation,” says Olivera, though determining exactly how it worked and what it measured will take more study.
Only one other such spiral design has been identified in the Amazon. A few years earlier, Valdéz had found similar, but smaller, spirals at a site he named Santa Ana-La Florida, over the border in Ecuador, about 100 miles north of Jaén. He believes the spirals were part of an ancient altar.

A mile up a dirt road from Montegrande stands an even bigger and, judging from Olivera’s first excavations, potentially even older mound. Occupied today by an elderly man with chickens and barking dogs, the mound, which is known as San Isidro, was excavated by Olivera in 2010 and 2012.
It held the remains of 22 children and newborns buried over a period
of several centuries in the first millennium B.C. If Montegrande was the local center for shamanic ritual, San Isidro may have been where parents took sick or dying children to be cured—or sacrificed. Bones unearthed at San Isidro show signs of trauma and deformation. A newborn dating from about 800 B.C., who had been decapitated, was found entwined in the arms of a young woman, who had also been decapitated. The remains of a boy aged about six, his teeth showing signs of severe iron deficiency, were buried with guinea pigs, river crabs, and a shell necklace still around his tiny neck.

A few feet away, Olivera uncovered the remains of the mound’s resident healer or priest, his face turned toward the east, as if awaiting the rising sun. His body was adorned with some 180 snail shells, whose shapes echo that of the Montegrande spiral. Peruvian archaeologists often give names to the charismatic dead, and Olivera calls this man “The Lord of Snails.

IN the NEWS - From Peru to France

Recently we told you the virtual collapse taking place in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and gas rationing in Germany and Austria.
Now in France they too are saying they will be going to gas rationing.
And now Rioting erupts in Peru.
Coming Food Crises---It was once stated in the first decade of last century that mankind is only 9 meals from Anarchy. Prince of Persia is making his move now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: Daniel 10:20.....Are we heading for an Global Economic Collapse and hence a Global Digital Currency?..uh oh...

I.
"France is surveying its largest consumers of natural gas to assess
which of them would have to suspend normal operations if deliveries of the fuel from Russia are cut."
RT

II.
"Peruvian authorities said on Wednesday that a fifth person has died in recent anti-government protests sparked by rising fuel prices, a sign of how the global energy crunch linked to the war in Ukraine is stoking unrest in countries around the world.
Peru's ministry of the interior said a 25-year-old man had died and that it was investigating. A union representing agricultural workers in the southern Peruvian city of Ica said the man had died in clashes with police.
The protests were triggered by rising fuel and fertilizer costs due to sanctions on Russia, which invaded Ukraine in late February. The unrest has escalated in recent days, rattling the government of  President Pedro Castillo.
Authorities are struggling to unblock key highways that are essential for food supplies in Peru's largest cities. Castillo is also fending off calls for his resignation from the opposition and some influential local newspapers." Reuters

IN the NEWS - "We have never seen anything like this before"

So will this Crises end up being just another Crises Era on the pages of  History like those before--which will eventually end---OR----is this the Final one?
Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth... Luke 21:26

"Unfortunately for all of us, it appears that a lack of fertilizer will mean that far less food is grown in 2022 than originally anticipated.
Thanks to an unprecedented explosion in energy prices,
we were already facing a fertilizer crisis even before the war in Ukraine, but now that war has definitely taken things to the next level.
Under normal conditions, a great deal of the world’s fertilizer comes from either Russia, Belarus or Ukraine…
A fertilizer shortage has added to growing concerns about
the Ukraine war’s impact on the price and scarcity of certain basic foods.
Combined, Russia and Belarus had provided about 40% of the world’s exports of potash, according to Morgan Stanley. Russia’s exports were hit by sanctions. Further, in February, a major Belarus producer declared force majeure — a statement that it wouldn’t be able to uphold its contracts due to forces beyond its control.
Russia also exported 11% of the world’s urea, and 48% of the ammonium nitrate. Russia and Ukraine together export 28% of fertilizers made from nitrogen and phosphorous, as well as potassium, according to Morgan Stanley.
Global hunger rose significantly in both 2020 and 2021, but what we are going to be dealing with in the months ahead is going to be completely unlike anything that we have dealt with in the past.
In fact, one commodity expert that was interviewed by CNBC is extremely pessimistic about what is ahead…
In Peru, fertilizer prices have experienced an “almost fourfold” increase…
The global fertilizer squeeze exacerbated by Russia’s
invasion of Ukraine is imperiling rice production in Peru, where the seed is a staple for tens of millions of people.
Prices of the crop nutrient urea have surged almost fourfold amid supply scarcities, adding to cost inflation for growers, according to the Peruvian Association of Rice Producers.
That same article goes on to explain that many farmers in Peru won’t be able to afford to plant crops at all this year.
All of this is a double whammy, if not a triple whammy,” said Bart Melek, global head of commodity strategy at TD Securities. “We have geopolitical risk, higher input costs and basically shortages.”
We have never seen anything like this before."

ARCHAEOLOGY: Quest for Immortality Leads to Human Blood Paint

For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing,.... Eccl.9:5

"Thirty years ago, archeologists excavated the tomb of an elite 40–50-year-old man from the Sicán culture of Peru, a society that predated the Incas.
The man’s seated, upside-down skeleton was painted bright red, as was the gold mask covering his detached skull.
Now, researchers reporting in ACS’ Journal of Proteome Research have analyzed the paint, finding that, in addition to a red pigment, it contains human blood and bird egg proteins.
They identified six proteins from human blood in the red paint, including serum albumin and immunoglobulin G (a type of human serum antibody).
The identification of human blood proteins supports the hypothesis that the arrangement of the skeletons was related to a desired “rebirth” of the deceased Sicán leader, with the blood-containing paint that coated the man’s skeleton and face mask potentially symbolizing his “life force,” the researchers say." Paths From Babel: to the Pre-Columbian Andeans

Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
Genesis 11:9
Apparently a group from Babel halted in the Highlands and at a very early date some branched off to the coast and remained apart for a time.

"A large international team of researchers has conducted the first
in-depth, wide-scale study of the genomic history of pre-Columbian Andean civilizations such as the Moche, Wari, Tiwanaku, Nazca, and Inca.

The scientists found that groups living in the Andean highlands became genetically distinct from those that eventually came to live along the Pacific coast. The effects of this early differentiation are still seen today.
The genetic fingerprints distinguishing people living in the
highlands from those in nearby regions are remarkably ancient,” said first author Nathan Nakatsuka....the population of the north also developed distinct genetic signatures from populations that became prevalent in the south. Again, these differences can be observed today.
After that time, gene flow occurred among all regions in the Andes, although it dramatically slowed after 2,000 years ago.

There were two exceptions to the slowing of migration, and these were within the Tiwanaku and Inca populations, whose
administrative centers were largely cosmopolitan — people of diverse ancestries living side-by-side. “Archaeology shows the Inca occupied thousands of miles from Ecuador through to northern Chile — which is why when Europeans arrived they discovered a massive Inca empire, but we found close genetic relationships between individuals at the extreme edges of the empire.”

Papal Notes - Covid-19 Laying Groundwork?

"On Thursday, May 14, 2020 in Lima, Peru, the nation’s leading religious leaders responded to Pope Francis’ call and met in the Plaza Mayor.

The Plaza Mayor is the political and religious heart of Peru and is surrounded by the Government Palace, the Catholic Cathedral, the Municipal Palace and the Archbishop’s Palace.
Pope Francis invited all the world’s religions to join together in a large ecumenical gathering to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The list of participating churches was published by three news sources that offered different accounts of the ecumenical meeting. The first was the Vatican in Rome, the second was the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lima and the third was an independent Christian media outlet. The three news sources published the names of the attendees:
  • Amazon Spirituality – Apu Richard Rubio
  • Hindu Spirituality – Nonie Reaño
  • Baháʼí Faith – David Cerpa
  • Islamic Community – Shej Ahmed Kassen
  • Jewish Community – Rabbi Guillermo Bronstein
  • Latter-day Saints – Elder Guillermo Estrugo
  • Seventh-day Adventist Church – Edgardo Muguerza
  • Union of Evangelical Churches of Peru – Cristian Sheelje
  • National Evangelical Council of Peru – Eduardo Concha
  • Roman Catholic Church – Archbishop of Lima Carlos Castillo

The Pope’s interfaith meeting on May 14, 2020 in Lima, Peru was more than just praying for the COVID-19 pandemic.
This gathering was designed to eliminate centuries-old divisions between Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Muslims and Pagans. In addition to calls for unity and reconciliation, they were promoting pantheism.
There was also a call to respect “Mother Earth” and the ecosystems of our planet.

An Amazonian Shaman (guide to the spirit world) participated in this event during a moment of silence for those who died from the coronavirus. The Shaman blew his ceremonial instrument as an offering on behalf of the dead! He blew it 4 times in the 4 directions of Mother Earth: north, south, east and west. This is divination and communication with the spirits. The Vatican also stated:

The Interreligious Prayer of this Thursday, May 14, had a
moment of silence in memory of all those who died in Peru by the COVID-19, while listening to the sound of pututu, an Andean wind instrument. Images of the solidarity actions of religious communities were also projected.”
Pope Francis is exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic by uniting the different faiths during this crisis."

IN the NEWS - Guinea Pigs & Shamans

And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Romans 1:23

"Hundreds of people queued to be 'cleansed' by guinea pigs in a bizarre ritual ahead of New Year's Eve.

Spiritual well-wishers in Lima, Peru, lined the streets as they waited to meet shaman Maria Ramos in a bid to cure and prevent diseases ahead of 2020.
Locals attended the Feria de los Deseos, also known as the 'Fare of Wishes', on Monday.
Huge crowds of residents patiently waited to be greeted by Maria, who uses rare guinea pigs during the ceremony.
She said: "A cleansing with the black guinea pig to take out the bad energies, the bad vibes, has always been done by our ancestors."
The guinea pig is meant to crawl on the patient and diagnose the problem.
Afterwards the shaman rubs the guinea pig on the woman and the illness should disappear.
Well-wishers can also have their fortune read for a fee or buy charms representing their wishes for 2020.
Fake Euros and dollar bills inscribed with personal messages, miniature plastic houses, cars and baby dolls were thrown at a statue of the Aymaran God of abundance Ekeko.
The traditional Feria de los Deseos is held annually in the Peruvian capital.
It is dedicated to good luck charms, spiritual cleansing and practices designed to grant wishes ahead of the New Year."

IN the NEWS - Macron (& others) Bearing False Witness

Thou shalt not bear false witness... Exodus 20:16

Macron of France was bearing false witness against Brazil over the Amazon Fires by using an old picture to bash Brazil...and others by PURPOSLY Mischaracterizing the Amazon Fires for POLITICAL PROPAGANDA for their Green Religion....

"The G-7 nations pledged Monday about $40 million to help fight fires in the Amazon rainforest in response to the outcry from celebrities, media outlets and leaders like French President Emmanuel Macron, who said the blazes represented an “international crisis.”

Climate scientist Roy Spencer had another term for the fires: “normal agriculture.”

I think the media focus on this is misplaced and exaggerated, as is virtually every weather-related story that appears these days,” said Mr. Spencer, a respected former NASA scientist.
“The driest years in Brazil will have the most fires set by farmers,” the professor at the University of Alabama at Huntsville said in an email. “That isn’t a climate story, it’s normal agriculture in a country where 50 million people living in poverty are trying to survive.”

After finding last week that the Amazon fire activity “has been close to average in comparison to the last 15 years,” the NASA Observatory said Saturday that there has been a slight “uptick,” making 2019 “the most active fire year in that region since 2010.”

Data from the Global Fire Emissions Database of Amazon Region
fire activity dating back to 2003 showed 2019 falling somewhere in the middle of the pack, with the number of fires as of Saturday at nearly 110,000.
Dan Nepstad, president of the Earth Innovation Institute, told Forbes that the number of 2019 fires is 7% above the average of the last 10 years, even as deforestation fell by 70% from 2004-12 in the Brazilian Amazon.  About 80% of the Amazon rainforest is intact, and half is protected under Brazilian federal law.

@The photos you probably saw weren’t of today’s fires in Brazil.
@Amazon isn’t the “lungs of the world”.
@Deforestation is 75% below 2004 peak.
@Forest fires not increasing.
@Fires 7% more than decadal average.

Such facts run counter to the widespread narrative depicting the Amazon going up in flames and on the brink of deforestation, thanks to the pro-development policies of President Jair Bolsonaro, the so-called “Brazilian Donald Trump” who took office in January.

In addition to Mr. Macron, liberal celebrities such as Madonna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cristiano Ronaldo, Jaden Smith and Shakira have stoked alarm about the fires on social media.
Also going viral are photos declared fake by fact-checkers at such media outlets as Agence France-Presse and Mother Jones, which noted that Mr. Macron tweeted an image taken in 2003.

Also going viral was the errant claim that the Amazon produces 20% of the earth’s oxygen, as tweeted by Mr. Macron and Rep. Ro Khanna, California Democrat.
But even Penn State climate scientist Michael E. Mann, a leader of the global-warming movement, said that was too high.
In fact, Mr. Mann tweeted, even 6% would probably be too high, because “plants both photosynthesize and respire.

Most but not all of the Amazon basin is in Brazil, which has six of the 10 Amazon districts.  Three others are in Bolivia and one is in Peru, but Bolivian President Evo Morales, a socialist, has received none of the international condemnation heaped on the conservative Mr. Bolsonaro.
In 2015, Mr. Morales told a crowd at the World People’s Conference on Climate Change that, “Capitalism is Mother Earth’s cancer.”
The fires in Bolivia are being ignored by the media because Bolivia’s government is socialist and does not fit the narrative of evil ‘right-wing,’” Mr. Morano said. “Bolivia is protected from media criticism because they are the politically correct political leaders.”

The incidence of fire was higher from 2003 to 2007 and in 2010, during the administration of former Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, a member of the Workers’ Party, although he received little in the way of international backlash."
