ARCHAEOLOGY: Pelousios

Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
[Even mud or clay....]
Exodus 20:3

"A 2,200-year-old circular temple discovered in Egypt’s Nile Delta is shedding new light on how ancient societies integrated water into religious practices. The site, tied directly to the Nile, suggests rituals centered on the river played a more structured role than previously understood.
The discovery was made at Tell el-Farama, the ruins of ancient Pelusium, a city long known for its strategic and commercial importance.
Pelusium itself has a layered history, serving as a fortress in pharaonic times and later as a customs station under the Roman
Empire. Earlier excavations in the area had already revealed a temple dedicated to Zeus, pointing to a mix of cultural influences shaping the city over centuries.

As per statements relayed by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in a Facebook post, the complete structure revealed a circular sanctuary.
After six years of archaeological excavations at Tell el-Farama in the city of Pelusium in northern Sinai, the Egyptian archaeological mission of the Supreme Council of Antiquities has uncovered the remains of a unique religious building dedicated to the worship of the city’s local god, “Pelousios”.”
According to the same ministry statement, archaeologists found water and Nile silt inside the basin, which suggests the site was likely used for rituals connected to the river.
The name Pelusius, derived from a Greek word meaning
mud” or “clay,” makes that connection even clearer."

Definition of "Spiritual Egypt"

"The philosophy of Egypt can be summarized by the words of Pharaoh in Exodus 5:2 - “Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go?”
This is the spirit of atheism
When we speak of atheism we mean the denial of the existence or
relevance of the God of the Bible.
Atheism moved into the political arena as the undergirding ideology of many on the political left during the disastrous experiment called the French Revolution. Revelation 11:8 describes this movement as having the characteristics of “Sodom and Egypt.”

The Carved out Nile

"From Aswan in the south to Cairo, the Nile occupies a long, reasonably flat valley generally12 to 18 miles wide.
Typically, it was carved some 500 ft deep into the limestones of the desert plateau that covers most of Egypt.
The Valley of the Kings sits along one of the limestone cliffs.

On top of the plateau was a scattered deposit of gravel and cobbles, both of
chert
Chert is a form of quartz, but with very fine-grained texture comprising microscopic crystals. It is incredibly hard—impossible to scratch with a steel knife.

Some
chert cobbles were more than 6 in long.
They were well rounded, indicating they had been transported by
water. Some cobbles were broken, and dented with circular marks, called percussion marks. These indicate that they smashed into each other as they were carried along by the torrential water flow that rounded and broke them. Significantly, percussion marks are not forming on such hard rocks today, even in the most powerful modern flood events.

The
chert would have originated from chert layers and nodules within the limestone when massive water flows catastrophically eroded the valley.
While this sort of erosion creates a wide valley in rapid time, some portions of the limestone originally deposited during the Flood’s Ascending Phase remain. These are called erosional remnants—such as the Giza plateau near Cairo.

This
erosional remnant in a broad valley
---with water-rounded hard rocks on top that are broken
---and contain percussion marks indicates that the Nile River Valley was carved by an extraordinarily torrential water flow
The Recessive Stage of Noah’s Flood would produce just such a flow, as the floodwaters that covered the whole of the African continent drained from the landscape."

ARCHAEOLOGY: Dt. 4:19 & Rom. 1:23 in Egypt

And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.....and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
Deuteronomy 4:19/Romans 1:23 NIV

"An Egyptian archaeological team discovered the remains of the sixth-century-B.C. structure three years ago during excavations at an archaeological site in the ancient city of Buto, now called Tell Al-Faraeen, in Egypt's Kafr El-Sheikh governorate.

The team uncovered the ruins of an L-shaped mud-brick building spanning over 9,150 square feet. Its east-facing entrance, marked by a traditional gateway known as a pylon, leads to a spot where sunlight would have illuminated where the sky observer — known as 'smn pe' and who was usually a priest — stood to track the sun and stars, Ghonim said.

The structure still has a carving of smn pe facing the rising sun.
This figure symbolizes the ancient Egyptians' connection to the cosmos, Ghonim said.....initially, archaeologists thought the clock was a temple gate. The team also found an ancient Egyptian timekeeping device known as a "merkhet,"....."The ancient Egyptians envisioned the Earth and sky as two mats," Ghonim said. "They mapped the sky on the 'Themet Hrt' — the sky mat — and the 'Themet Ghrt,' or Earth mat, represented their calendar, marking events like the Nile flood and harvest. This is the first inscribed stone mat of its kind ever discovered."

The excavation also uncovered a statue of the
falcon-headed god Horus. The depiction of Horus, along with an eye of Horus, "embodies the systems of the universe and is linked to the sun, the moon, the god Horus, and the goddess Wadjet, the most important gods of Buto," according to the statement.

In ancient times, Buto was dedicated to the goddess Wadjet, a serpent goddess known to be protective of the king.

Inside the observatory, archaeologists found a gray, granite statue of King Psamtik I from the Saite era — the 26th dynasty — and a bronze figure of Osiris, a god associated with the underworld and resurrection, with a serpent, referring to the goddess Wadjet
These artifacts, along with various pottery items used in religious rituals, date the observatory to the sixth century B.C. and emphasize its dual role in scientific study and spiritual practice, Ghonim said." MS

Creation Moment 9/15/2024 - CMI responds to A.E. from Egypt

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, .... 2 Timothy 2:15
"A.E. from Egypt sent in quite a lot of requests to address some recent papers claiming to solve the intractable problems of chemical evolution (aka abiogenesis). Most of them are addressed on our website already. Despite this, he sent in more papers. So we thought it was a good place to take apart some representative papers, as well as deal with what we think is the real issue.
He writes:
"There is a recent study titled RNA-catalyzed evolution of catalytic RNA which published in (PNAS) on March 4, 2024, Which says “RNA polymerase ribozyme that was obtained by directed evolution can propagate a functional RNA through repeated rounds of replication and selection, thereby enabling Darwinian evolution. Earlier versions of the polymerase did not have sufficient copying fidelity to propagate functional information, but a new variant with improved fidelity can replicate the hammerhead ribozyme through reciprocal synthesis of both the hammerhead and its complement, with the products then being selected for RNA-cleavage activity . Two evolutionary lines were carried out in parallel, using either the prior low-fidelity or the newer high-fidelity polymerase, Did this study really provide good evidence that supports the RNA world hypothesis?"

CMI’s Shaun Doyle responds
Dear A.,
Thanks for writing in.
I have to be frank: do you even understand the abstracts of these PNAS articles that are giving you so much grief? Take the first sentence of the abstract you quote from in this comment:

An RNA polymerase ribozyme that was obtained by directed evolution can propagate a functional RNA through repeated rounds of replication and selection, thereby enabling Darwinian evolution.

First, how did they obtain the RNA polymerase ribozyme? “Directed evolution”.

Q: Does this mean it evolved via natural mechanisms?
A: It means the opposite; it was engineered
It’s a protein engineering method that generates mutants from which the researchers select the mutants that best fit what they’re looking for, replicate those, subject them to more rounds of mutagenesis and selection, until they find what they’re looking for.
Q: Why does this matter?
A: It shows that the RNA polymerase ribozyme was engineered to replicate a functional ribozyme. All this paper shows is that this is the best example they’ve managed to engineer so far. An interesting exercise in organic chemical engineering, to be sure.
But relevant to chemical evolution? Not at all. For it to be relevant, it has to be assumed that this thing could plausibly arise solely via mindless causes. But there’s no reason for us to assume that. In fact, the very difficulty of generating it is evidence against mindless causes.

Second, have they actually shown RNA self-replication? No. The RNA polymerase ribozyme facilitated the replication of a different ribozyme. As the commentary states:
"Here, a twofold change in the error rate of the RNA polymerase ribozyme led to the first RNA-catalyzed ribozyme replication and evolution cycle. This new functionality is heading toward something profound: RNA self-replication. If the RNA polymerase ribozyme could complete a full replication cycle of not only the hammerhead ribozyme, but of its own sequence, the system will meet a widely accepted definition of life as a “self-sustaining chemical system capable of Darwinian evolution”."
This is not a self-replicating RNA system

Third, why think Darwinian evolution from such a system could eventually produce a free-living cell? A free-living cell is clearly the last universal common ancestor (LUCA). That’s the target they’re aiming at. These studies have to show natural causes plausibly suffice to generate the LUCA from abiotic materials in the timeframe and conditions they posit.
However, the system the paper investigates is solely RNA.
Q: What sort of mutations could allow it to bring in entirely different classes of biomolecules, such as polysaccharides, DNA, lipids, and proteins, to create a much more complex system?
---And this assumes that such biomolecules could themselves develop naturalistically in the same environments as the RNA system. But evolving from an RNA system to a multi-biomolecule cellular system for which DNA, not RNA, is the prime information storage molecule, is a black box that dwarfs anything that supposedly evolved since the LUCA.

There is no reason to think this study has any relevance to how life supposedly arose from abiotic materials without intelligent input.
It’s an engineered system.
It still can’t self-replicate."

False Doors of Ancient Egypt stem from a False Belief System: Ancestor Worship

For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward... Ecclesiastes 9:5 NIV

"Ancestor worship was an important part of household religion and the belief that the dead could not only be communicated with but could also use their power to both help and hurt living beings, was an ingrained part of the ancient Egyptian belief system.

False doors were a specific type of funerary decoration often found
in the tombs of the Egyptian elite during the Old Kingdom...
False doors were carved from a single piece of limestone and took the form of a narrow doorway surrounded by inscribed door jambs and surmounted by a lintel.

The tomb’s occupant was usually represented seated at a table laden with food offerings: vegetables, fruits, bread, wine, beer, and meats—everything a soul would need to sustain itself in the afterlife. The family members and friends of the deceased could also be immortalized on the false door. These carvings were not portraits, however, but idealized representations. Both men and women were shown in the prime of their life: strong, healthy, vigorous, and fertile."

Osirus, Noah and that 17th day... Echoes of the Flood in paganism?

"If Horus is the deified Ham, in what way are Geb and Osiris like
Noah? Regarding Geb’s function, Egyptologist H. te Velde states:
Innumerable texts and expressions dating from all periods of Egyptian history testify to the connection between Geb and the earth … . The word gbb ‘earth’, [Wb 5, 164.7–8] too, is derived from the name of the god … .”
For instance, Coffin Text (CT)-78 describes how Shu separated his children Geb (the earth), from Nut (the sky) during creation. At Genesis 5:29, Noah is associated with the earth by Lamech, who prophetically:
… called his name Noah, saying, ‘Out of the ground [ăd̲āmāh] that the LORD has cursed, this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the painful toil of our hands.’”
This verse connects to Genesis 8:20–21 where Noah’s soothing (nîḥōa) sacrifice brought relief from YHWH’s curse to the ground/soil (ăd̲āmāh). Later, Genesis 9:20 states: “Noah began to be a man of the soil [ʾîš hāʾăd̲āmāh], and he planted a vineyard” (ESV). Here, Noah became the Second Adam, a “man of the soil”, to restart the new post-Flood world. Noah’s produce of the ground (wine) brought a soothing/(nîḥōa) rest from Noah’s labors (Genesis 9:21) and with it, a fresh curse.

Divine epithets of Osiris (phonetically reminiscent of ‘Noah’)
include Nny, which means ‘The Tired One’ (LGG IV, 248–249), known from the Middle Kingdom, whose hieroglyph shows a ‘resting figure’, ‘nu pot’ and ‘seated god’ . For example CT-431 states: “the Inert One (nny) who ascends from the watery-abyss (nn).” Significantly, nny is also an OK epithet meaning ‘tired’ e.g. PT-578§1534a. The divine name Nw.w ‘Nun’ (Wb 2, 215.5–6) is found commonly in PTs, e.g. PT-233§237a. Text from the 26th Dynasty texts (664–610 BC) also place Osiris directly in the Abyss:
wnn wsjr m n.t nw.wOsiris exists in the Nun.”
Noah means ‘rest/comfort’ (cf. Genesis 5:29) and is conceptually
equivalent to Osiris (Nw/nny) (‘tired/inert’)—offering a striking semantic and phonetic connection with Noah.

..... identified Ogdoad Nu as the paganized memory of Noah. Is Horus’s father Osiris connected to Nu? Egyptologist H.M. Tirard recognized that Osiris and Nu (of the Ogdoad) were interchangeable, stating:
In one of the lists of the Ennead the name of Osiris is replaced by that of Nu, the primaeval water … .”
***A festival of Osiris called Khoiak dramatized the struggle between Osiris and Seth, resulting in Osiris’s death and resurrection.
The festival started on the 12th day of Hathor (Greek Athyr)—third
month of the year, and season of Akhet (Inundation). Khoiak lasted until the end of the month, commemorated by Osiris’s revivification—marked by planting crops at the start of the new agricultural year.
The festival commemorated the drowning of King Osiris by Seth, who then dismembered his body. These parts were delivered throughout Osiris’s kingdom. Osiris’s wife, Isis, relentlessly searched for the pieces, finding all but his phallus—so Isis modeled a new one.
She mummified the pieces, which revived Osiris, who fathered Horus by her. Osiris then descended to the underworld as Lord of the dead. After this, Horus, Osiris’s son and heir, violently and incestuously struggled against Seth—until Horus’s final victory. However, in the festival, Seth is no longer Osiris’s son (as per some PTs), rather his evil brother.

Greco-Roman temple texts at Dendera relate Khoiak’s dramatization. Priests commemorated Horus lifting Osiris’s body from the water of the sacred lake and carrying it to the temple. Osiris was represented by a model mummy made of bitumen—placed in a small wooden boat, ritually floated across the ceremonial lake (representing Nu/Primeval Ocean)—and buried by Horus priests in the temple.

Plutarch, the Greek philosophe, ascribed to Egyptian priests the belief that Osiris died on the 17th of Athyr, when Seth (Typhon), by trickery, trapped Osiris in a wooden box, which was cast into the Nile, and floated out to sea.

Osiris’s ‘ordeal by water’ within his dbn ‘round-topped wooden box’ (Wb 5, 437.16).

Noah (and family) entered the ark (Tēb̲at̲) on the 17th day of the second month (Genesis 7:11), which rested on Ararat the 17th day of the seventh month (Genesis 8:4) (the next year). Noah’s exit from the Ark (salvation from the Flood) and his restarting of the post-Flood civilization can be understood theologically as a resurrection/re-creation event. This may echo Plutarch’s testimony of Osiris’s entering his dbn on the 17th day of the third month, the season of Inundation, followed by his resurrection/re-creation. The Osiris bitumen mummy may share connections with the ‘pitch’ covering Noah’s Ark (Genesis 6:14). Admittedly, such evidence appears late in Egyptian history.

When Horus’s father(s) are compared with Ham’s father, Noah, several striking connections can be made. Osiris’s association through Geb with the earth, echoes Noah as the ‘man of earth’ bringing rest from the curse because of the cursed earth.

Osiris the ‘weary’ parallels Noah the ‘restful’., Noah enters the Tēb̲at̲ on the 17th of the second month, which rests on Ararat on the 17th of the seventh month of the Flood, resembles Osiris entering his dbn on the 17th of the Inundation month. Therefore, Osiris/ Geb as Horus’s father(s) resembles Noah as Ham’s father." CMI

Echoes of the Flood corrupted in Ancient Paganism

"Scripture teaches that Noah, his sons and wives—eight altogether—boarded the Ark, to escape the Global Flood judgment.
Q: Did the Ancient Egyptians have knowledge of this, too?

A: Egyptologists know of a group of eight gods called the Ogdoad (Greek for ‘eight’). Four males and their wives, connected to the Egyptian Flood, or primeval ocean (Nun/Nu). Their names occur in the Pyramid Texts, Egypt’s oldest inscriptions.
The chief god is Nu, sounds like Noah; his wife is Nu.t.

These eight were worshiped at Khemenu (Greek ‘Hermopolis’), mentioned in the Pyramid Texts.
Khemenu survived into modern-day El Ashmunein (‘Eight City’ in Coptic). A temple once stood there, dedicated to their worship.

The Egyptians believed the ‘Eight’ eventually died, and were buried. A small 18th Dynasty temple at Medinet Habu, south of Cairo, marks their tomb.
Inscriptions feature their names, and describe both their burial as mummies and the Great Flood." CMI

Creation Moment 3/9/2023 - Echoes of Creator God Corrupted in Ancient Paganism

"Heliopolis (Greek for ‘city of the sun’) was from its beginning a
regional center of worship for a god called (Re)-Atum. Its only remnant evidence is the Al-Masalla Obelisk.

Heliopolis and the worship of Atum both feature in Scripture. Heliopolis, with its pillars/obelisks, is judged for its idolatry in Jeremiah 43:13 (He shall break the obelisks of Heliopolis, which is in the land of Egypt, and the temples of the gods of Egypt he shall burn with fire.) and Isaiah 19:18
The Egyptian name of Heliopolis is ‘Iunu’ meaning ‘pillar’ (or obelisk).

In Coptic it is ‘On’, which is judged in Ezekiel 30:17. Joseph’s wife is the daughter of Potiphera (whose name means ‘the one whom Ra has given’ and is a “priest of On” (Genesis 41:45, 50; 46:20). So
Potiphera likely worshipped Re-Atum. Also, Israelite slaves built grain-stores for Pharaoh at ‘Pithom’ (Exodus 1:11) which in Egyptian means ‘Great House of Atum’ (pr-jtm.w).
Atum’s name appears in Egypt’s oldest texts, inscribed on walls and corridors of burial chambers inside 5th Dynasty pyramids. He is described as the first creator god, who emerged from ‘primordial flood waters’, ascended the ‘primordial mound’ (the first land) and initiated his work of creation.
Atum creates two children by ‘sneezing’ or ‘spitting out’ a son, Shu (representing air), and a daughter, Tēfnut (moisture). From Atum, other gods were believed to have descended by natural procreation. Thus the Egyptians thought in terms of nine (sometimes ten) gods, jointly called the Great Ennead.

The 19th Dynasty Turin Canon (or Turin King List) papyrus lists rulers of Egypt and their reign-lengths. Though highly damaged, it features names from the Great Ennead amongst various mythical early rulers, each of which reined for hundreds of years. This suggests a corrupted memory of the long-lived generations listed in Genesis 5.  Prominent ancestors becoming ‘deified’ well after their deaths is a known phenomenon.

Egyptian beliefs about Atum provide more clues of his connection to early Genesis. Images of Atum appear in 20th Dynasty tombs (c. 1189–1077 BC) showing him battling with a serpent called Apophis
in front of a tree called the Ished tree. Atum is depicted as a cat—considered the natural enemy of snakes. Such images appear c. 1280 BC in papyri collections of religious spells, called the ‘Book of the Dead’, which were buried with the deceased. Atum is shown with one paw crushing the head of Apophis, while the other paw takes a knife to decapitate it. Egyptian priests connected with this belief made models of Apophis which were trampled, stabbed, and burned, in order to vanquish the snake’s evil. As part of His pronouncement of the Curse when Adam and Eve sinned, God said that the serpent’s head would be bruised by the coming Seed (Genesis 3:15), whom Paul calls the ‘last Adam’ (1 Corinthians 15:45). However, the Egyptian version has Atum already victorious over the serpent—crushing its head.

The Ished tree is clearly connected with both knowledge and length of life in Egyptian inscriptions. For instance, a wall inscription on
the Pharaoh Ramesses II temple at Thebes (c. 1300 BC) depicts Atum and a god called Thoth, writing on the leaves of the Ished tree the reign length assigned to the enthroned king.
Interestingly, the name Ished (originally pronounced ‘ish-d-et’ in the Pyramid Texts) sounds like Hebrew ‘tree of knowledge’—pronounced ets-ha-da-at. (Hebrew ‘tree’ = ets, ‘the knowledge of’ = ha-da-at). Therefore, the sound and meaning of a part of this Edenic tree’s name was likely incorporated into Egyptian religion.

As expected, ‘echoes of Eden and Genesis’ are indeed present in the records of early Egypt, in more than one form. Starting with the Bible as God’s revealed truth about history equips us to make genuine discoveries." CMI

Was Ham deified into the Egyptian god Horus?

Was Ham deified as a form of ancestor worship in ancient Egypt as the god Horus?
Who knows but Gavin Cox of CMI has his case for it below and you decide what you out there in cyberspace think...
And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds,....Romans 1:23
"One of the most famous and ancient of Egypt’s many deities was Horus, the falcon sun-god.
1) Ham is 11th from Adam
2) etymology of Ham’s name;
3) Ham came from a family of eight; and
4) Ham, the youngest of three brothers.
These comparisons support the thesis that Ham was deified by the pagan Egyptians as Horus.

Egypt is eponymously called “the land of Ham” (Noah’s third son) in the Psalms (105:23, 27; 106:22) and “tents of Ham” (Psalm 78:51).
Ham and Mizraim (Ham’s third son) appear together in Psalm 105:23 as designations for Egypt: “… Israel came to Egypt (miṣrāyim); Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham (ḥām).
Here, ‘Mizraim’ is the common name for Egypt throughout Scripture.

Ham was a first-hand witness of the Flood, and likely lived to a similar age as his brother Shem (500 years post-Flood, Genesis 11:11).
--Via Noah’s teaching, Ham knew about creation and the pre-Flood world, knowledge he would naturally pass to his descendants. All this became paganized by the Egyptians.
--Ham’s great post-Flood lifespan, involvement in re-establishing of post-Flood civilization, and knowledge of the pre-Flood world, likely meant he had divine status conferred upon him by the Egyptians.

Horus appears in Old Kingdom Pyramid Texts (OK PTs), along with his sons, father, and mother. Horus is depicted as a falcon or falcon-headed man, who was considered a creator god, as well as a form of the sun. His father was Osiris/Geb, with a notable brother, Seth

Myths associated with this family include the struggle between
Horus and Seth after Osiris’s murder.
Here, both brothers injure each other through violent struggle for dominion. Horus loses his eye, which itself becomes deified as the moon (Thoth), and his healthy eye as the sun (RēꜤ).

Pharaohs became the living embodiment of Horus, and received their ‘Horus name’. Upon death they were believed to fly to heaven as the Horus falcon, to join RēꜤ in the solar barge, crossing the sky eternally.

--The Genesis 5:1–32 chronogenealogies place Ham (with his
Atum (Adam?)

brothers) 11th from Adam. Can a similar chronological relationship be discerned in Egyptian mythology, regarding Horus?
Egypt had a group of nine gods, called the Ennead, listed in OK PTs. Their sign was 9 flags, or vertical dashes, in Egyptian: psḏ.t (Wb 1, 558.12). They are listed in Pepis II PT-600§1655:
O Great Nine that is in Heliopolis—Atum, Shu, Tefnut, Geb, Nut, Osiris, Isis, Seth, Nephthys—Atum’s children!”
The Greater Enneadpsḏ.t-ꜤꜢ .t (Wb 1, 559.5) included Thoth, and Horus. When Osiris is accounted for, who appears as (father/brother) bystander, Horus’s position appears 11th from Atum, Unas PT-219§167–177:
Atum … Shu … Tefnut … Geb … Nut … [Osiris] … Isis … Seth … Nephthys … Thoth … Horus.
Atum is the Egyptians’ paganized memory of Adam. Here in PT-219§167–177, Horus is placed 11th within the Greater Ennead—taking into account Osiris as bystander—from the Egyptian Atum. --This may represent a paganized memory of the genealogies of Genesis 5:1–32 where Ham (and brothers) stand 11th in-line from Adam.

The 19th Dynasty Turin Canon papyrus, though highly damaged,
provides information regarding Egypt’s earliest history, which designates Egypt’s Predynastic rulers as šms.w-ḥr.w Followers of Horus” (Wb 4, 486.16–19).

Egyptologist K. Ryholt explains:
The mythological kings consists [sic.] of gods, demigods, and spirits. … The first name [n ib […]] could be brought into relation with the primaeval ocean, the time before land existed and water was everywhere. The name ‘clod of the shore’ [pns.t n spt] can hardly be other than a reference to the creation of life
Horus (Ham?)

out of lifeless matter, earth. The two latter names [‘possessor of noble women’ (ẖrḥm. wt-šps.w[t]) and ‘protector of [noble?] women’ (ḫw-ḥm.wt-[šps.wt?])] could, perhaps, relate to the creation of women. Further below, in the now lost part of column 2, there was a further transition from demigods to spirits, which continues in the first nine lines of column 3. The spirits have generally been interpreted as prehistoric kings, but it remains unclear how much historical importance should be attached to the information the king-list has to offer
.”
This sounds like a paganized reference to creation, Adam (from the earth), and Eve, up to later stages in the chronogenealogy, listed in Genesis 5:1–32.
Ham’s name can be understood via phonetic connections to similar-sounding words within the Hebrew text, Biblical scholars call this ‘paronomasia’, (play-on-words, puns). At Genesis 6:11 the reason for the Flood is given—the earth is full of ḥāmas “violence, wrong
(HALOT-2980).

“And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham (ḥām), and Japheth.
Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight, and the earth was filled with violence (ḥāmās)
” (Genesis 6:10–11).

Theologian Moshe Garsiel states of the pun that it: “… does not serve here merely as sound play but implies a connection between Ham and ‘lawlessness’. Later on (9:22–27), this son indeed displays the inferiority of his nature compared to his brothers.”
Ham’s grandson Nimrod at the construction of the tower of Babel provoked the next judgment of humankind.

--Ham belonged to a family of eight—comprising four males and
their wives. Ancient Egypt had a group of eight gods—comprising of four males and their wives (the Ogdoad) whose names appear in OK PTs. As Ham came from Noah’s family of eight, Horus also comes from a group of eight gods.

Scripture states Noah had three sons: Ham his youngest” (Genesis 9:24) and “Shem … brother of Japheth the elder” (Genesis 10:21 YLT). Here Scripture employs the adjective: קָטָן (qāṭān) HALLOT-8338 ‘small, youngest’ to describe Ham. Can similar relationships be discerned in Horus’s family? The following evidence suggests this is so.
Horus is described in Pepis I PT-539§1320c as:
Hr.w nẖn(.w) ḫrd
Horus, the little child.”
Horus had a notable brother called Seth, with whom he violently
struggled (see motif 8), for instance:
Merenre PT-615§1742a.
jmi.y jr(.t)-ḥr.w ḥr ḏnḥ n.j sn=f stš
Put the eye of Horus on his brother Seth’s wing.
Also Pepis I-667a§1948b:
[Horus will] be cleansed of what [his] brother [Seth] did to him, [Seth will be cleansed of what his brother Horus] [did] to him … Horus will be purified when he [embraces] his father Osiris.
Another god, called Thoth is constantly associated with Horus and Seth in PTs, indeed, there is a clear overlap between Seth and Thoth as noted by Čermák, who also recognizes family relationships are often contradictory. Seth is brother to Horus, and yet simultaneously brother of Osiris in PT. However, Seth and Thoth are described as brothers together in:
Neith PT-218§163d.
m=k jri.t.n stš ḥna ḏḥw.tj sn
See what Seth and Thoth have done, your brothers” (referencing Pharaoh Neith).

You appeared as King of Lower Egypt and Horus and Thoth have joined you as the two brothers of the King of Lower Egypt” (referencing Pharaoh Neith).
The following (MK) Coffin Text makes clear the brotherhood of Horus, Seth, and Thoth: CT-681.
O Thoth, son of the Harpooner, brother of Horus and Seth, who are on your throne, silence Seth.” (Faulkner 2004: II, 246).
Horus had a brother, Seth, (both sons of Osiris) with whom he struggled violently for political dominion. A closely aligned god called Thoth is described as a brother of either Seth, or Horus in the PTs, and one example in the Coffin Texts of Horus, Seth, and Thoth being described as brothers. In BOD, Thoth shares the same father (Osiris) as Horus and Seth. When these examples are considered, then Horus is comparable to Ham in having two other brothers, and himself being described as the ‘youngest’." CMI

***Just a thought...but IF there is any validity to the theory put forward by Mr. Cox, I'm wondering if this was an embellishment of
the story of that terrible incident between Ham and Noah (Osirus)? Did they change it around and make Shem (Seth) the bad guy and their direct ancestor Ham (Horus) the hero?
Did Shem and Ham have a falling out over it and Japheth (Thoth) was the peacemaker as in the Egyptian story? In the Egyptian myth Seth and Horus fight over Seth killing their father Osirus.
Because clearly Shem didn't kill Noah. A possible twist or embellishment for dramatic effect based on Ham's incident with Noah?....or blending of another event of a fight between some other relatives of that era...hmmm....well whatever...And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. Genesis 9:22-24

IN the NEWS - A New 10 Commandments?

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Galatians 1:6

"On November 13, 2022, in Sharm-el-Sheikh, which some believe to be the location of Mount Sinai, something unimaginable occurred.
A new religion was proclaimed from Mount Sinai as part of the COP27 climate conference in Egypt, as representatives from all the world’s faith communities came together to work toward a single, universal goal.

There must be a common concern that unites us all.
There must be one issue that the world religions must focus on above all others.
There must be a single universal creed that the entire religious spectrum can fervently affirm.

Yes
, there is a new religion that has emerged, and it is based on the hysteria surrounding climate change.
What comes next sounds unbelievable. But it is true! As part of this year’s climate conference, COP27, a prophetic call for climate justice has been issued, a new religious creed has been established, a new set of 10 Commandments has been declared, and a new “climate change” religion has officially been born.

The Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development (ICSD) is a multi-faith organization that is committed to assisting the different churches transition by helping them discover the connection between religion and ecology.
Due to their conviction that only religion can affect change in people, the ICSD believes that the COP27 will be ineffective without the participation of religion.
Now consider how the ICSD must change the churches before changing society:
We come to Sinai in a movement of repentance and quest. We seek a new vision for humanity and its endangered existence, and we seek to receive and amplify a message of life-sustaining living and habits that humanity needs to hear today. In this spirit, the project partners will bring together premier religious leaders from the world’s major religions to put forth a prophetic interreligious call to action: “Ten Universal Principles for Climate Justice.”
The Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development (ICSD), together with partners, is organizing four multifaith climate events at COP 27, from Monday, Nov. 14 through Wednesday, Nov. 16.
The ICSD is not alone. The World Council of Churches (WCC), the largest Christian worldwide ecumenical organization, also published a statement of solidarity with COP27. They called it the “Statement on the 27th Conference of the Parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27).” The document states in part:
WCC representatives are joining ecumenical, interfaith and civil society partners at the 27th Conference of the Parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, in urgent advocacy for change, for metanoia (change)
“We share the sense of urgency in the UN Secretary-General’s own impassioned words: ‘We are on a highway to climate hell with our foot on the accelerator. Our planet is fast approaching tipping points that will make climate chaos irreversible’.”
COP 27 is a critical occasion for governments to together re-envision, develop, commit to and implement a roadmap towards a fossil fuel-free, post-growth, equitable and sustainable tomorrow, and to tackle the greatest existential challenge to life on the planet.”

The ICSD and the WCC are international religious organizations that are currently mobilizing the churches to take action. They are creating a world-wide mission that supersedes all other missions. They are calling on churches to unite with political groups and governments to push for a universal eco-religion. COP27 is tapping into the power that the churches wield.

The new “climate change” religion is seeking to connect religion and ecology. What makes this so enormously dangerous is that millions of Christians are being turned away from the gospel of Jesus Christ. Many believers have abandoned God’s truth completely. Their new fight is not against sin but against fossil fuels.
They have also embraced
the new morality of “ecocide.”
Ecology has taken the place of theology.
This seeks to bring religion and nature together.
The idea that the natural world is holy and that we need to acknowledge the interdependence of humans, nature, and all of creation has been primarily promoted by Pope Francis.

November 14, 2022, The Church Times, a Christian publication from the UK, published “The Ten Principles for Climate Repentance.” These 10 Principles of Climate Repentance are a “reference to the Ten Commandments revealed to Moses on Mount Sinai” and were unveiled to “coincide with the UN climate talks, COP27.”

Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Sikhs participated in an interfaith climate repentance ceremony to celebrate this new moral code for climate change.

The 10 Principles of Climate Repentance are as follows:

1 – We are stewards of this world;
2 – Creation manifests divinity;
3 – Everything in life is interconnected;
4 – Do no harm;
5 – Look after tomorrow;
6 – Rise above ego for our world;
7 – Change our inner climate;
8 – Repent and return;
9 – Every action matters;
10 – Use mind, open heart.

These religious leaders are placing themselves on an equal level with God, believing that they can create a new set of Ten Commandments to combat climate change.

In essence, we are being told that God’s law is not enough.
We need something more.
We need a new code and a new guide that are not contained in the Word of God.
Unknown to the world, these new religious leaders are setting the world adrift in a sea of doubt that will only lead to more lawlessness and sin."
