And moreover, because the preacher was wise,
he still taught the people knowledge;
yea, he gave good heed, and sought out,
and set in order many proverbs.

He set in order - collected and arranged, many parables, probably alluding to the book over which we have already passed.
He chose
the most profitable way of preaching, by proverbs or short sentences, which
would be more easily apprehended and remembered.
He sought out such as were surprising and uncommon; he dug
into the mines of knowledge
