"...the first of all things said in the Lord’s answer to the question of His disciples, is,
“...Take heed that no man deceive you.” (Matthew 24:4)
This, then, is the most important of all considerations in connection with the coming of the Lord and the end of the world.
This thought is repeated and emphasized by Paul, when he writes of the same subject:
“Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him, That you be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means.”
(2 Thessalonians 2:1-3)
To be deceived with respect to the coming of the Lord and the end of the world is the worst possible deception; for to be so deceived is to be unprepared for that wonderful and all-decisive event, and so is to be taken unawares, and to be destroyed."
