IN the NEWS - Spiritual Formation Heresy enters Church of the Nazarene

WARNING

This emergent church/spiritual formation poison is spreading into many churches. As it infects the more traditional Church of the Nazarene--is evidence it can infect any denomination.
"Contemplative spirituality practices, which are nothing more than “Christianized” transcendental meditation, are being taught in Nazarene universities, seminaries, and churches.  Professors such as Thomas Oord of Northwest Nazarene University are teaching Open Theism, the heresy that God does not know the future, among other heresies.  Professors such as Karl Giberson at Eastern Nazaren College are teaching that evolution is fully compatible with the Bible. 

Trevecca Nazarene University has a prayer labyrinth on campus, and some Nazarene churches now use prayer labyrinths, which is a practice from pagan cultures that was invented and used thousands of years before Christ. There is nothing Christian about it, but now it is becoming more commonplace in the Nazarene church. Leaders at Point Loma Nazarene University and others are promoting contemplative spirituality practices. 

Even Nazarene Theological Seminary is going “contemplative”, promoting a “spiritual formation” retreat at a Catholic retreat center a few days before General Assembly. These practices promote an unhealthy and unbiblical emphasis on experiences and teach methods that supposedly will help you get closer to God and hear His voice, rather than a reliance on what God has revealed in the scriptures to find His will and “hear His voice.” This is also called monastic mysticism, and it is not from the Bible.

Nazarene Theological Seminary recently promoted a preteen retreat, complete with teaching young kids how to use prayer stations, prayer beads, and other contemplative practices, custom designed and tailor made according to what “were meaningful for his or her own personality.”  Degrees are now available in spiritual formation (another phrase for contemplative spirituality), and you can now study to be a spiritual director, which is perhaps the evangelical equivalent now of a priest who does confessions in the Roman Catholic system.

 If practices and teachings that are coming into the Christian church are clearly unbiblical, it is our duty as Christians to oppose them, even if we have to oppose our leadership. Mystical experiences and the undermining of the authority of scripture have no place in the Christian church.

Many have left the denomination disgusted and heartbroken, and have found a church home outside of their former Nazarene church, where the Bible is taught as the inerrant, infallible word of God. 

This is not just a Nazarene problem.  It is a cancer that is spreading everywhere. This could very well be a major turning point in the history of many denominations.  I believe we are seeing, in this emergent church movement, some of the influences that are misleading so many Christians around the world." Are we witnessing the "Omega" apostasy? The "Alpha" apostasy began with the charismatic movement at the turn of the century and pantheism.

Referring again to the days and experiences of 1904 it is written:

"Be not deceived; many will depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.  We have now before us the alpha of this danger.  The omega will be of a most startling nature."  Testimonies, Series B, No. 2, pg. 16, written July 24, 1904 E.G.W. This shows plainly that an apostasy had then begun of which the alpha was but one part or phase or feature, and that a later development of the same apostasy would be called the omega and would be of a most startling nature.

To know exactly what part of the apostasy God meant when He said alpha note the following, written of the book known as Living Temple:

"Living Temple contains the alpha of these theories.  I knew that the omega would follow in a little while; and I trembled for our people."  Testimonies Series B, No. 2, pg. 53 E.G.W.

Uhm...did they just quote from the book of Judith as Scripture? 2.  We are engaged in the process of having Christ formed in us by the Holy Spirit:
     “until Christ is formed in you” (Galatians 4:19)

The first idea declares who we are; the second affirms who we are becoming."

As you can see above-this poison of spiritual formation has entered the mainstream-not just charismatic or evangelical, but also mainline churches.

As one can see-what Darwin missed was- The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Sanctuary Shadow cast upon earth

There are those critics of the Sanctuary Doctrine who claim that Christ did not enter the Most Holy Place at the end of the 2300 days (years) in 1844 to begin the cleansing of the Sanctuary. But rather it commenced as soon as He entered heaven, as if there were only one apartment in the inner Sanctuary.
But if this were true-then how could the heavenly Sanctuary cast a "shadow" on the earth of a 2 apartment inner Sanctuary? (The inner apartment for the daily ministration & the Most Holy Place for the day of atonement/Judgment).

*If there are 2 apartments in the heavenly--then that settles the question as to the truth about 1844. And since this is true-Adventism stands vindicated.

Left Handed Biblical People

"The Hebrew Bible mentions left-handed people on three occasions: the story of Ehud’s assassination of the Moabite king (Judges 3:12–30), the 700 Benjamites who could use the sling with deadly accuracy (Judges 20:16) and the two-dozen ambidextrous warriors who came to support David in Hebron (1 Chronicles 12:2). All of these stories of left-handed people in the Bible appear in military contexts, and, curiously, all involve members of the tribe of Benjamin.
Benjamites may have been genetically disposed to left-handedness at birth, but the trait may also have been encouraged in soldiers to give them a strategic advantage in combat—somewhat like left-handed baseball pitchers today—against right-handed opponents who were unaccustomed to fighting “lefties.” Warriors from the tribe of Benjamin might have been trained to be equally or more effective with their left hands." "Charles Darwin died on 19 April 1882, at the age of 73. To some it was deplorable that he should have departed an unbeliever, and in the years that followed several stories surfaced that Darwin had undergone a death-bed conversion and renounced evolution. These stories began to be included in sermons as early as May 1882. However, the best known is that attributed to a Lady Hope, who claimed she had visited a bedridden Charles at Down House in the autumn of 1881. She alleged that when she arrived he was reading the Book of Hebrews, that he became distressed when she mentioned the Genesis account of creation, and that he asked her to come again the next day to speak on the subject of Jesus Christ to a gathering of servants, tenants and neighbours in the garden summer house which, he said, held about 30 people. This story first appeared in print as a 521-word article in the American Baptist journal, the Watchman Examiner, and since then has been reprinted in many books, magazines and tracts.
The main problem with all these stories is that they were all denied by members of Darwin’s family. Francis Darwin wrote to Thomas Huxley on 8 February 1887, that a report that Charles had renounced evolution on his deathbed was ‘false and without any kind of foundation’.... Charles’s daughter Henrietta (Litchfield) wrote on page 12 of the London evangelical weekly, The Christian, for 23 February 1922, ‘I was present at his deathbed. Lady Hope was not present during his last illness, or any illness. I believe he never even saw her, but in any case she had no influence over him in any department of thought or belief. He never recanted any of his scientific views, either then or earlier …
Lady Hope probably did visit Charles between Wednesday, 28 September and Sunday, 2 October 1881, almost certainly when Francis and Henrietta were absent, but his wife, Emma, probably was present. ......points out that her published story contained some authentic details as to time and place, but also factual inaccuracies—Charles was not bedridden six months before he died, and the summer house was far too small to accommodate 30 people. The most important aspect of the story, however, is that it does not say that Charles either renounced evolution or embraced Christianity. He merely is said to have expressed concern over the fate of his youthful speculations and to have spoken in favour of a few people’s attending a religious meeting. The alleged recantation/conversion are embellishments that others have either read into the story or made up for themselves." CMI

IN the NEWS - Transgender Navy SEAL?

"A former member of the elite U.S. Navy SEALs has come out to say she's now a woman.

Kristin Beck, formerly Chris, served 20 years as a SEAL and fought on some of the most dangerous battlefields in the world, but after she left the service she realized she wasn't living the life she wanted.

"Chris really wanted to be a girl and felt that she was a girl and consolidated that identity very early on in childhood," said Anne Speckhard, co-author of Beck's biography "Warrior Princess," which was published over the weekend. Speckhard told ABC News Beck suppressed that secret for decades, however, through the trials of SEAL training and the harrowing missions that followed, growing a burly beard as she fought on the front lines of American special operations.

Brandon Webb, a former SEAL who served on a different SEAL team than Beck, said that Beck's reputation in the SEALs was a good one and said she was, by all appearances, the "consummate guy's guy."
But the book says that Chris "had considered living as the woman he felt himself to be for a very long time, but while he was serving as a SEAL he couldn't do it."
"For years Chris had turned off his sexuality like a light switch and lived as a warrior, consumed with the battle -- living basically asexual. For Chris the other SEALs were brothers and in the man's man warrior lifestyle, even if he had wanted to entertain sexual thoughts, there really was never any time to be thinking too much about sexuality," the book says.
After her retirement in 2011, however, "Now seemed the right time to go for it -- to make his body match his identity -- or at least start by dressing like a woman in his regular life." ABC

"Many people erroneously think that Charles Darwin (who earned a degree in theology) was once blissfully content with the biblical explanation of origins—until, that is, as an unbiased naturalist, he stumbled across the idea of evolution by observing the ‘facts of nature’ in the Galápagos Islands in 1835. The truth is significantly otherwise. The concept of evolution had, in fact, been ‘in his family’ ever since his grandfather, Erasmus Darwin, first suggested it in 1770.

Erasmus Darwin (1731–1802) completed a major translation from Latin to English of the works of Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778), who devised the plant classification that forms the basis of modern botany.
His reputation as a physician was established when he saved the life of a young man from a prominent local family, whom other doctors had declared to be incurable. Because his cures were ‘unfashionably frequent’ his practice gradually became the largest in the English Midlands. King George III asked him to become his personal physician in London, but Erasmus declined.
In about 1766, he co-founded the Lunar Society—called ‘the think tank of the Industrial Revolution’
 Married twice, he sired 12 Darwin offspring and, in between marriages, a further two (known) illegitimate daughters by a Miss Parker. These girls were raised in his home with his other children, and later were the inspiration for a lengthy tract by Erasmus on female education.
Erasmus was anti-Christianity, anti-slavery, and pro the American and French Revolutions. An outstanding poet, he often wrote his opinions and scientific ideas in verse, the most notable of which were The Botanic Garden (published in two parts, 1789, 1791), which consisted of 4,384 lines of perfectly rhyming couplets.
Erasmus first tentatively suggested the idea of evolution in 1770.
 ...in The Temple of Nature, Erasmus extends this to read: ‘“all vegetables and animals now existing were originally derived from the smallest microscopic ones, formed by spontaneous vitality” in primeval oceans.’

Notice that the king has to ask Esther the 2nd day again what is her request. She seems someone reluctant to ask while the king was more than willing to comply. Same thing between you & God.

IN the NEWS - Mother Earth Worshippers

Another nail in the coffin of the eschatology (end time events) of those who worship Mother Earth. Their man-made global-warming (new name-"climate change") hypothesis took another hit. The info undermining global warming alarmists is below:

At the end of the presentation, Salby implies, quoting Richard Feynman, that CO₂ science today can be described as “Cult Science”.

Pope Pius VIII declared an invocation to be said- "Jesus, Joseph and Mary, I offer to you my heart and soul; Jesus, Joseph and Mary, assist me in my last agony; Jesus, Joseph and Mary, may my soul expire in peace with you."

Notice that the Pope placed Joseph & Mary on par with Jesus. But there is only ONE who makes intercession for us (besides, Joseph & Mary are dead awaiting the resurrection). It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Romans 8:34

Veneration of saints, relics, angels, images & Mary

The Catholic & Eastern Orthodox Churches hold that there is to be veneration of saints, relics, angels, images & Mary.
They have 3 levels of worship:
1) Dulia (for the lower objects of worship)
2) Hyperdulia (for the worship of Mary)
3) Latria (for the Trinity)
               * Dulia is about veneration/degrees of reverence
               * Latria is sacrificial 

2nd Council of Nice (787A.D.) declared "Whatever venerable churches have been consecrated without holy relics of martyrs, shall have a deposit of relics made in them with the accustomed prayer. And if...any bishop shall be found consecrating a church without holy relics, let him be deposed."

Sidenote: Within the Anglican Churches (in America the Episcopalian Church) there has been controversy over adoration of saints. Some pray to the saints and some don't. The controversy stems from the interpretation about adoration of the saints in article 22 of the Anglican faith:It reads as follows-  HE Romish doctrine concerning Purgatory, Pardons, worshipping and adoration as well of Images as of Relics, and also Invocation of Saint, is a fond thing vainly invented, and grounded upon no warranty of Scripture; but rather repugnant to the word of God.

Neo-Charismatic New Mystics

The Neo-Charismatics seem to be self styled "New Mystics". Many of these evangelists have small

followings from what seems to be non-denominational charismatic churches and a few followers in organized charismatic churches (Pentecostal, Assemblies of God, etc.).
It seems what they crave is TV appearances for exposure. One place they like to go is on Sid Roth's It's Supernatural.
And they love to talk about astral type of out-of-body experiences as well as miracles.

They are sometimes shunned by mainstream charismatics and especially by many traditional Christians. Although they may find some sympathy among the emergent church types.

They also seem, at least in some cases, to differ on eschatology (end time events) with their Pentecostal brethren. It appears that many of the big charismatic TV evangelists have adopted the millennial view of the "secret rapture." This is what separated the Assemblies of God (secret rapture known as dispensational pre-millennialism) from the Pentecostals (Post millennial) initially. But over the years the Pentecostals have also been going the rout of the secret rapture crowd in eschatology. But these new mystics seem to be a throw back to post millennialism, at least dominance post millennialism. (Post millennialism is the idea that the millennium happens BEFORE the 2nd Advent of Christ, a thousand years of peace & love breaks out on earth after the last person is converted. Dominance post Millennialism has the twist to it of, rather than the millennium beginning with the conversion of the last person-it begins with the day that all GOVERNMENT leaders become Christian worldwide.)

One other point-these new mystics have about 4 big  names. John Paul Jackson (Who I watched claim that God appeared to him in a vision on a throne in his house and told him to prepare the world for the rapture and to preach the "prosperity gospel".....The fact that Mr. Jackson seems to accept the secret rapture view could explain his acceptance on mainstream Christian TV). He also seems to be taken serious by the Day Star TV network and Joni Lamb.

Another is Rick Joyner who spends a lot of time being interviewed on Christian TV and especially the Jim Bakker Show.

Another was Bob Jones, now discredited leader of the Kansas City Prophets of the late 80's & early 90's. These charismatics were considered extreme by major charismatic denominations. But they were eventually given "spiritual cover" when the late John Wimber allowed them to semi-merge with his Vineyard Churches.
Mr. jones claimed that one day his angel visitor, Dominus, who he claimed was Christ Himself, sat with him on rocking chairs over the church and the two of them held hands in an out-of-body experience.
Mr. Jones also pioneered the Shepherd's Rod Theology of the Kansas City Prophets. This doctrine claimed that once a year, on the day of atonement, the flock was to pass under the rod of Mr. Jones and he could tell if they had sin in their life. He claimed that God wanted him to check for blemishes of sin on the flock.
Mr. Jones also used his "White Horse" revelations to keep people from questioning. He claimed many of his sayings were uttered to him in visions or dreams by the mouth of a white horse. When he claimed the mouth of the white horse had spoken--people listened.
Mr. Jones took a bit of a dip from grace among his brethren when it was learned he was having affairs with men. The first clue they had a perv in the pulpit should have been when Bob Jones was known for having women strip naked before him to receive a "prophecy"-although he claims he never touched them.....


And finally Paul Cain, who was dis-fellowshipped a few years ago for having affairs with men and being an alcoholic to the point of falling down at public events. Mr. Cain is considered a living legend among these groups as a clairvoyant and "prophet" of the 50's "latter rain" movement. Although speculation swirls that the ones who went public with his sins, were those who want to take his seat of glory among the movement, and Rick Joyner was one of them who was instrumental in going public with the sins of Mr. Cain.
The reason for the gay encounters of Mr. Cain have been blamed by some on Christ--for it was Christ who supposedly appeared in the front seat of his car while driving to San Francisco to see the girl he planned to marry. Christ supposedly told him to remain celibate. -- (LOL-people actually believe this in his defense...). Also, he prophesied (falsely) that President Bill Clinton would lead a spiritual revival in America. This could be due in part to the possible dominance post millennial views of many neo-charismatics.

Paul Cain was also a proponent of the Manifest Sons Of God doctrine-which was deemed heresy by the Assemblies of God. The doctrine is as follows; "The teaching that in the last days, a "new breed" of Christians will arise - the "Manifest Sons of God" - who will have super-natural spiritual power and be instrumental in subduing the earth. This movement is also referred to as "Joel's Army."
'Subduing the earth' means that a militant church (Joel's Army) will arise, take over and rule the world politically and spiritually.
It is claimed that the 'Manifest Sons of God' will be perfected into their "glorified bodies" prior to Christ's return. That perfection will allow them to subdue the earth for Jesus. Proponents of this doctrine also claim Christians, having a "divine nature," become "gods." They say Christ came into us as a "seed" and grows into a "prophet." A 1999 major offshoot that survives from the Kansas City Prophets is IHOP (International House of Prayer and also intercession, holiness, offerings and prophetic). It is led by a major leader of the KCP, Mike Bickle. It is based around Kansas City, Missouri.
They also have a 24/7 ministry of rock-style music & prayer vigils. They have what they call the Tabernacle of David.

One major crossover, which has gained prominence on major Christian TV networks in the U.S., is out of Australia. The Hillsong Church led by New Zealander Brian Houston. They appear to be the first major group to straddle the line between traditional, main-stream charismatics & the neo-charismatic movement.

* Definitions: Some define neo-charismatics separate from new-mystics, with the new-mystics being a sub group of neo-charismatics. In this case the neo-charismatics would be more along the lines of the non-denominational mega-churches bridging the gap between charismatic & evangelical. HillSong Church is closer to this than the new-mystics side. Whereas IHOP leans more towards the new-mystics side.
