"A circle of stones located at Leochel-Cushnie (Aberdeenshire,
Scotland) turns out to have been made more recently than some experts
thought. Historic Environment Scotland and Aberdeenshire
Council’s Archaeology Service both claimed the circle was authentic and
deemed it to be thousands of years old.
That is, until the previous owner of the land came forward and
explained that he himself had assembled the stones in a circle in the
1990s.
Historians and archaeologists have taken the news in their
stride, at the same time admitting that stone circles are difficult to
