"On Sabbath, November 2, 2019 the Florida Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Youth & Young Adult Ministries published a ‘Pre-Worship Fun’ Video on their Facebook page for the whole world to see.
They call this video “pre-worship fun,” but this is not worship. It’s worldly entertainment. Worldly hip hop and rap music is not holy worship to God. Jumping around is not worship. Noise is not worship.
By Tuesday evening, November 5, 2019 the controversial video was removed from the Florida Conference’s Facebook page.
They made the right decision by taking it down. It was indefensible for several reasons; the music was just one of them. Even though some defended the ‘Pre-Worship Fun’ video, the fact that the Florida Conference chose not to stand by it says it all.
When we think about worship music we should not be thinking about what the world esteems as popular, stylish and fashionable: “For that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.” Luke 16:14.
“Some are not satisfied with a meeting unless they have a powerful and happy time. They work for this and get up an excitement of feeling. But the influence of such meetings is not beneficial. When the happy flight of feeling is gone they sink lower than before the meeting because their happiness did not come from the right source” (Last Day Events, pp. 159, 160)."
