Self is the enemy we most need to fear. No form of vice has a more baleful effect upon the character than has human passion not under the control of the Holy Spirit.

Every association of life calls for the exercise of *self-control, *forbearance, and *sympathy.
We differ so widely in disposition, habits, education, that our ways of looking at things vary. So frail, so ignorant, so liable to misconception is human nature, that each should be careful in the estimate he places upon another. We little know the bearing of our acts upon the experience of others. What we do or say may seem to us of little moment, when, could our eyes be opened, we should see that upon it depended the most important results for good or for evil. Cast no shadow upon the lives of others. A cold, sunless religion never draws souls to Christ. Christianity will make a man a gentleman. Always act from principle, never from impulse. Cultivate the habit of speaking well of others. Dwell upon the good qualities of those with whom you associate, and see as little as possible of their errors and failings. He who scatters the seeds of dissension and strife reaps in his own soul the deadly fruits. The very act of looking for evil in others develops evil in those who look. By dwelling upon the faults of others, we are changed into the same image.

We need not keep our own record of trials and difficulties, griefs, and sorrows. All these things are written in the books, and heaven will take care of them. While we are counting up the disagreeable things, many things that are pleasant to reflect upon are passing from memory,... Do something every day to improve, beautify, and ennoble the life that Christ has purchased with His own blood. Remember that you cannot read hearts. You do not know the motives which prompted the actions that to you look wrong. There are many who have not received a right education; their characters are warped, they are hard and gnarled, and seem to be crooked in every way. But the grace of Christ can transform them.
Christ is not to be hid away in the heart as a coveted treasure, sacred and sweet, to be enjoyed solely by the possessor. We are to have Christ in us as a well of water, springing up into everlasting life, refreshing all who come in contact with us.

If impatient words are spoken to you, never reply in the same spirit. Remember that a soft answer turneth away wrath. Proverbs 15:1

On the Streets of Babylon: a "Fox" & "Kidd" Loose

Babylon is fallen, is fallen,...  Come out of her, my people,
Revelation 14:8/18:4
There's a "Fox" & "Kidd" loose on the Streets of Babylon...careful out there...

"Episcopal priest and New Age leader Matthew Fox explains what he calls “deep ecumenism”:
Without mysticism there will be no “deep ecumenism,” no unleashing of the power of wisdom from all the world’s religious traditions. Without this I am convinced there will never be global peace or justice since the human race needs spiritual depths and disciplines, celebrations and rituals, to awaken its better selves. The promise of ecumenism, the coming together of religions, has been thwarted because world religions have not been relating at the level of mysticism.

Fox believes that all world religions will eventually be bound together by the “Cosmic Christ” principle, which is another term for the higher self.

As incredible as this may sound, it appears to be happening now. The New Age is embedded in American religious culture far deeper and broader than many people imagine. If your concept of the New Age is simply astrology, tarot cards, or reincarnation, then you could easily miss the real New Age as it pulses through the religious current. If mystical prayer continues its advance, then we could one day see, perhaps sooner than we expect, many Christian churches becoming conduits of New Age thought to their membership.

Sue Monk Kidd is a best selling novel writer. Her book, The Secret Life of Bees has sold over four
million copies, mainly to women. At one time a Southern Baptist Sunday school teacher, she became attracted to centering prayer as a way to know God more deeply. Today, she is the Writer in Residence of the Sophia Institute, which is devoted to “foster[ing] the emergence of the sacred feminine” (i.e., the Divine feminine).
Monk Kidd now adheres to what New Agers teach, that this mystical force (called God or Divinity) is in all things, nothing excluded:
Deity means that divinity will no longer be only heavenly … It will also be right here, right now, in me, in the earth, in this river, in excrement and roses alike.

It is because New Agers believe God is not a being but Being itself. In other words, there is nothing that is not God. This is the decision that the world is now facing–is God a personal being or is God the Universe and all that it entails?" LighthouseTrails

Creation Moment 2/4/2017 - Adam, Eve, Noah, Babel

"It comes as a surprise to most people to hear that there is abundant evidence that the entire human race came from two people just a few thousand years ago (Adam and Eve), that there was a serious population crash (bottleneck) in the recent past (at the time of the Flood), and that there was a single dispersal of people across the world after that (the Tower of Babel). It surprises them even more to
learn that much of this evidence comes from evolutionary scientists. In fact, an abundant testimony to biblical history has been uncovered by modern geneticists.

....the most important places to look are in the Y chromosome (which is only found in males and which is passed on directly from father to son) and in the mitochondrial DNA (a small loop of DNA that we nearly always inherit from our mothers only; males do not pass it on to their children). These two pieces of DNA record some startling facts about our past.

And the Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being. Genesis 2:7And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. Genesis 2:21–22
These simple statements have profound implications. They put a limit on the amount of diversity we should find in people living today.

Your genome is like an encyclopedia (almost literally). And, like an encyclopedia, the genome is broken down into volumes, called chromosomes, but you have two copies of each volume (with the exception of the X and Y chromosomes; women have two Xs but men have one X and one Y). Imagine comparing two duplicate volumes side by side and finding that one word in a particular sentence is spelled differently in each volume (perhaps “color” vs “colour”). Can you see that if Eve was a clone of Adam, there would have been, at most, two possible variants at any point in the genome? If Eve was not a clone, however, there would have been, at most, four possible variants at any point in the genome (because each of the original chromosomes came in four copies). This still allows for a lot of diversity overall, but it restricts the variation at any one spot to 2, 3, or 4 original readings.

Does this fit the evidence? Absolutely! Most variable places in the genome come in two versions and these versions are spread out across the world. There are some highly variable places that seem to contradict this, but most of these are due to mutations that occurred in the different subpopulations after Babel.

There are indications, however, that Eve may not have been a clone. The ABO blood group is a textbook example of a gene with more than two versions. There are three main versions of the blood type gene (A, B, and O). However, many, but not all, people with type O blood carry something that looks very much like a mutant A (the mutation prevents the manufacturing of the type A trait on the outside of cells). So here is a gene with more than two versions, but one of the main versions is clearly a mutation.

Like in the Creation story, there are only a few verses in the Flood account that help us with our model. But as seen before, these verses are profound. About 10 generations after Creation, a severe, short bottleneck occurred in the human population. From untold numbers of people, the entire world population was reduced to eight souls with only three reproducing couples.
So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. Genesis 7:7Now the sons of Noah who went out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth… These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated. Genesis 9:18–19
We can draw many important deductions from these statements. For instance, based on Genesis 7 and 9, how many Y chromosomes were on the Ark? The answer: one. Yes, there were four men, but Noah gave his Y chromosome to each of his sons. Unless there was a mutation (entirely possible), each of the sons carried the exact same Y chromosome. We do not know how much mutation occurred prior to the flood. With the long life spans of the antediluvian patriarchs, it may be reasonable to assume little mutation had taken place, but all of Creation, including the human genome, had been cursed, so it may not be wise to conclude that there was no mutation prior to the Flood. The amount of mutation may be a moot point, however, for, if it occurred, the Flood should have wiped out most traces of it (all of it in the case of the Y chromosome).
How many mitochondrial DNA lineages were on the Ark? The answer: three. Yes, there were four women, but the Bible does not record Noah’s wife as having any children after the Flood (in this case, girl children). And notice the claim in Gen 9:19, “These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.” This is a strong indication that Noah’s wife did not contribute anything else to the world’s population.

How many X chromosome lineages were on the Ark? That depends. If you count it all up, you get eight. If, by chance, Noah’s wife passed on the same X chromosome to each of her three sons (25% probability), then there were seven. If Noah had a daughter after the Flood (not expected, but possible), there could be as many as nine X chromosome lineages. Either way, this is a considerable amount of genetic material. And since X chromosomes recombine (in females), we are potentially looking at a huge amount of genetic diversity within the X chromosomes of the world.
Does this fit the evidence? Absolutely! It turns out that Y chromosomes are similar worldwide. According to the evolutionists, no “ancient” (i.e., highly mutated or highly divergent) Y chromosomes have been found. This serves as a bit of a puzzle to the evolutionist, and they have had to resort to calling for a higher “reproductive variance” among men than women, high rates of “gene conversion” in the Y chromosome, or perhaps a “selective sweep” that wiped out the other male lines. For the biblical model, it is a beautiful correlation and we can take it as is.

The evidence from mitochondrial DNA fits our model just as neatly as the Y chromosome data. As it turns out, there are three main mitochondrial DNA lineages found across the world. The evolutionists have labeled these lines “M”, “N”, and “R”, so we’ll refer to them by the same names.
Let’s assume ten female generations from Eve to the ladies on the Ark. M and N are separated by about 8 mutations (a small fraction of the 16,500 letters in the mitochondrial genome). R is only 1 mutation away from N. This is an indication of the mutational load that occurred before the Flood. Given the assumption that mutations occur at equal rates in all lines, about four mutations separate M and N each from Eve (maybe four mutations in each line in ten generations). But what about R? It is very similar to N. Were N and R sisters, or perhaps more closely related to each other than they were to M? We’ll never know, but it sure is fascinating to think about.

The Tower of Babel has been a favorite bedtime story for generations. But is it more than a fairy tale? Could it be possible that there is evidence to back up this tale of rebellion and judgment? Like the Creation and Flood accounts, there are only a couple of verses that apply to our model of genetics. But, like the others, these verses are as profound as they are simple.
Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. Genesis 11:1And they said, Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth. Genesis 11:4
It sounds like they were in a homogenous culture, but what do people in that situation do? Would you expect them to mix freely? Were language or cultural barriers present that would have prevented the sons of Shem from marrying the daughters of Japheth? Would the daughters of Ham be expected to marry freely with the sons of any of the three men? Note in Genesis 11:4 that they knew about the potential for spreading out and getting separated from one another and intentionally did the opposite! However, this was against the express command of God, who had ordered them to spread out (to populate the earth). So, He took matters into His own hands.
Come, let Us go down and confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.’ So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. Genesis 11:7–8
There are tremendous implications that come from the Babel account. First it explains the amazing cultural connectivity of ancient peoples—like pyramid building, common flood legends, and ancient, non-Christian genealogies that link people back to biblical figures (e.g., many of the royal houses of
pagan northern Europe go back to Japheth, the son of Noah).

The dramatic rise in world population over the past several decades is a well known fact. From a biblical perspective, the current human population easily fits into the standard model of population growth using very conservative parameters. In fact, starting with 6 people and doubling the population every 150 years more than accounts for the current human population (a growth rate of less than 0.5% per year!). Population size would have increased quickly given the rate at which the post-Flood population reestablished agriculture, animal husbandry, industry and civilization. So we must ask the question, “Why are there so few people in the world today?” The answer is that the world is young and we have not been here many thousands of years.

There is one more verse in this section that we need to discuss:
These were the families of the sons of Noah, according to their generations, in their nations; and from these the nations were divided on the earth after the flood. Genesis 10:32

Do you see the implication in this simple verse? At Babel, God did not separate the nations according to language. He used language to separate them according to paternal (male) ancestry! This has monumental significance and is the key to understanding human genetic history. Paternal sorting would lead to specific Y chromosome lineages in different geographical locations. Since males and
females from the three main families should have been freely intermixing prior to this, it also leads to a mixing of the mitochondrial lines. It is as if God put all the people into a giant spreadsheet and hit a button called “Sort According to Father.” He then took that list and used it to divide up and separate the nations."

3.) Apostates Deny Christ (v. 4)
4.) They defile the flesh (v.7& 8)
5.) Apostates are Rebellious (v. 8)
6.) Apostates Revile holy angels (v. 8)
7.) Essentially, Apostates are ignorant (v. 8)
8.) Apostates are continually having vain ideas (vs. 8-10)
9.) Apostasy leads to self-destruction (v. 10)
10.) Grumblers (v. 16)
11.) Fault finders (v. 16)
12.) Self-seeking (v. 16)
13.) Arrogant speakers (v. 16)

On the Streets of Babylon: a "vision"?

Babylon is fallen, is fallen,...  Come out of her, my people,
Revelation 14:8/18:4
There's a "vision" out there on the Streets of Babylon...

"Beth Moore, ...last year for claiming that God gave her a vision that Christians and Roman Catholics would be united,.... Moore has been criticized for embracing Word of Fath pastrix, Joyce Meyer, and partnering with her for speaking engagements.
Yet, Beth Moore, a Southern Baptist, has taken on a new show on the heresy television network known as TBN. She has doubled down on her ecumenical “vision from God.” Claiming that God is going to unite all “sectors of
Christendom” in a new movement that’s going to change the way Christians do things, she says that “the old ways of doing things aren’t working anymore.”
In an interesting twist of scripture, she says that “we must come to God barren in order to miraculously conceive.” She then sets the stage for her revelation, proclaiming,
Do we want something that can only be conceived by the Holy Spirit? I believe if we stay apart…we will not see this downpouring. We’re so spread out that a drop is falling there and a drop is falling here. Until the body of Christ unites, there will be scattered showers on planet earth. But once we unite in common purpose to see salvation to the ends of the earth…now we’re talking.
She then asks the congregation to pray with her that,
God would begin to start working in such a way, in all sorts of streams and traditions throughout Christianity, that he would pick out key people, and he would cause them to have such a hunger, they cannot stand but to cry out to God to do it for them…What would happen if we began praying ‘God go throughout Christendom, into every denomination, every single sector, every single part all over the world, go in.
And then she gives her prophecy, that she “believes with all of her heart,”
I believe, that out of his great mercy, God is about to push this envelope with us…Listen, test the spirits and pray about this to see if it is so, but as clearly as I know how to discern what he has laid upon my heart I feel like I am bringing it to you as I understand it. But I think what we will see, if not now, very very soon, is him pushing this point with us, over and over and over, because I think it is very possible that what has satisfied you before will no longer satisfy you now.

Clearly, she doesn’t know how to discern, because while she is giving lip-service to measuring her words against Scripture, there is nowhere in Scripture that teaches that God is going to unite every branch or sector throughout Christendom. In fact, she mentions no Scripture at all to substantiate her revelation, in actuality, Scripture teaches the opposite (Romans 16:17).
She is clearly teaching a false prophecy. While stirring up the audience’s emotions, you can see people shaking their heads, and almost in tears, .... It’s very sad that so many people are being deceived by this liar, masquerading as an angel of light. God is not going to use false gospels in false “sectors of Christianity” like Roman Catholicism, to take salvation to the ends of the earth. God is not going to save people through a false Jesus.
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.   2Timothy 4:3-4
Beth Moore is a false teacher." Pen&Pulpit

The badge of Christianity is not an outward sign, not the wearing of a cross or a crown, but it is that which reveals the union of man with God. The strongest argument in favor of the gospel is a loving and lovable Christian.

The fact that we are called upon to endure trial shows that the Lord
Jesus sees in us something precious which He desires to develop. The potter takes the clay and molds it according to his will. He kneads it and works it. He tears it apart and presses it together. He wets it and then dries it. He lets it lie for a while without touching it.

The gospel we present for the saving of souls must be the gospel by which our own souls are saved. If the Lord desires us to bear a message to Nineveh, it will not be as pleasing to Him for us to go to Joppa or to Capernaum. He has reasons for sending us to the place toward which our feet have been directed.

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
1 Peter 4:12, 13

IN the NEWS - The Devil Comes Out

Ye are of your father the devil,
and the lusts of your father ye will do.
He was a murderer from the beginning,
John 8:44
"The 25-year-old Daniel E. was sentenced to life in prison by a court in Freiburg on Monday for killing his Christian student flatmate last August in a crime ruled to be motivated by hate and disdain.
The 31-year-old victim from Paderborn had first met her killer when she moved into a student
flatshare last summer. The young woman was an active member of her parish who wanted to later work for the church.
But Daniel E. vehemently rejected any form of religion, and twice before killing her had tried to start a fight, he told police.
On the day of the murder - just ten days after moving in together - he stormed into her room and asked her what her stance was on same-sex marriage. When she said that she rejected this kind of marriage, he stabbed her while she sat on her bed, with a knife hidden in his trouser pocket.
State prosecutors argued that she had no chance against her sole flatmate. She tried to flee via the stairwell, but there he stabbed her in the back several times and she died at the scene. The court determined that he had deliberately planned the attack on his roommate.
Daniel E., from Baden-Württemberg, was clear from the start of the police investigation about his motivation: his hatred of all religion.
He had written about his hatred of religion days beforehand in a “manifesto” found on his computer, along with violent video games and films." DPA/GermanNewsInEnglish

Creation Moment 2/3/2017 - Well, Duh!

"The more details we learn about the chemical basis of life and the intricacy of the genetic code, the more unbelievable the standard historical account becomes....it seems to me that, as...usually presented, the current orthodoxy about the cosmic order is the product of governing assumptions that are unsupported, and that it flies in the face of common sense."

On the Streets of Babylon: A "Gathering" in 2017

Babylon is fallen, is fallen,...  Come out of her, my people,
Revelation 14:8/18:4
There's a "Gathering" to take place on the Streets of Babylon...

"Have you heard of the IF: Gathering? If you haven’t, you most likely will soon enough. The women’s movement started just a few years ago but is already making some big inroads into the
evangelical scene. On the outer appearance, this looks like a legitimate Christian movement – the women who lead and speak at IF: Gathering are young and vibrant; they talk about Jesus, they go to church; some of them homeschool their kids—it all looks so Christian. But underneath this outer thin Christian layer lies an emergent atmosphere . . . and the target is your young evangelical daughters and granddaughters.
In a few days (February 2-3), IF: Gathering will be presenting their annual conference in Austin, Texas. The conference, called IF:2017 will also be live-streamed to many churches throughout America and Canada.
How did the IF:Gathering originate?
The first account was presented by Allen in the initial IF:Gathering in Austin, Texas, 2014:
About 7 years ago, a voice from the sky—that doesn’t often speak to me—but that day there was this whisper. It was the middle of the night, actually. And it was “Gather and
equip your generation.”
A month later, and one year after her first account, Allen gave another account of how the IF came about during the IF: Gathering February, 2015:

I mean, 7 years ago, 8 years ago now, I heard a voice that . . . well, okay, I didn’t. This is like all different theologies right now. Okay, just give me grace. I don’t know, but I’m just telling you, in the night I woke up, and I was overcome with these words, “Disciple a generation.”
If Jeannie Allen did indeed hear supernaturally from God, and if God supernaturally equipped her to organize the IF:Gathering, we would expect good fruit from the conference and the speakers. We would not expect people who are influenced by emergent, New Age, and other aberrant authors and teachers. It is logical to expect that the speakers would be stellar Christian examples.
IF, The Speakers:
Ambassadors of God or Emergent Collaborators
Sarah Bessey
After reading portions of her book, Jesus Feminist, I get the impression Sarah Bessey believes that Christianity is stuck with the Woman Suffrage movement somewhere in the 1920s. She references radical feminist, social activist, and journalist Dorothy Day in her book and seems to draw from secular feminism. From that concept, she tries to invent a need for radical feminism in Christianity, presenting bizarre commentary on the Scriptures to back up her position. The following quote illustrates her view:
Many of the seminal social issues of our time—poverty, lack of education, human trafficking, war and torture, domestic abuse—can track their way to our theology of, or beliefs about, women, which has its roots in what we believe about the nature, purposes, and character of God.
In the back of Jesus Feminist under “Further Reading,” Bessey offers a book titled How I Changed My Mind About Women in Leadership, which includes essays from emerging church authors Tony Campolo, John Ortberg, and Bill and Lynne Hybels. Jesus Feminist also has endorsements in the book by Brian McLaren and Tony Jones. On her blog, she lists among her favorites A Generous Orthodoxy by Brian McLaren and Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning.
Christine Caine
Christine Caine claims Joyce Meyer as her “spiritual mother”.

Further, according to the itinerary on Christine Caine’s website, she will be speaking at NAR (New Apostolic Reformation) leader Bill Johnson’s Bethel Church in Redding, California in August 2015 in the Bethel Women’s Conference. Why does this matter? It shows a pattern of being willing to associate with people and “minister” in churches that are teaching and promoting false and dangerous
teachings.
Melissa Greene
Melissa Greene is the pastor of worship and arts at GracePointe Church in Franklin, Tennessee. The church made national headlines in January of 2015 as senior pastor, Stan Mitchell, declared his church now accepts homosexual marriage. Greene admits to reading emerging church pioneer Brian McLaren’s book, A Generous Orthodoxy (and McLaren spoke at GracePointe in the fall of 2014).
In “Worth,” Greene declares that, “Christianity is broad and diverse.” Considering that many of her influences accept all religions as being of God, there is no doubt to what she means when she states this.
Jen Hatmaker
In Jen Hatmaker’s book, Interrupted: When Jesus Wreck Your Comfortable Christianity, she makes it clear that she is influenced by a number of New Age/New Spirituality individuals. She quotes Catholic priest and contemplative activist Richard Rohr and emergent leader Shane Claiborne. On her blog, she promotes the book, The Circle Maker, by Mark Batterson, a book that encourages readers to draw circles around specific things in order to have more answered prayers. Batterson was inspired with this idea by an ancient sage.
In Hatmaker’s book, 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess, she reveals that her family takes part in a Roman Catholic ritual with mystical origins, the “Seven Sacred Pauses.”
Ann VosKamp
In the last chapter of One Thousand Gifts, “The Joy of Intimacy,” Voskamp writes:

Mystical union. This, the highest degree of importance. God as Husband in sacred wedlock, bound together, body and soul, fed by His body, quenched by His blood . . . God, He has blessed—caressed. I could bless God—caress with thanks. It’s our making love. God makes love with grace upon grace, every moment a making of His love for us . . . couldn’t I make love to God, making every moment love for Him? To know Him the way Adam knew Eve. Spirit skin to spirit skin . . . The intercourse of soul with God is the very climax of joy . . . To enter into Christ and Christ enter into us—to cohabit.

This is what contemplatives consider “intimacy” with God, as if God is more a lover or a boyfriend than the Creator of the Universe, the King of Kings, and our beloved Savior. This is what millions of young Christian women are being introduced to.

IF’s excellent adventure is advertisement for a mass departure from God’s Word. Rather than having their faith built up, participants are encouraged to question “traditional” Christianity. And those who are giving the answers—the IF women—are unfortunately getting their information from emergents and mystics who present a different gospel and another Jesus.
It is addictive, this linguistic confection. The mind is overcome with giddiness. But is it of God? Or is it rather a “beautiful” seduction?" LighthouseTrails

There are few who choose the better part, who sit at the feet of Jesus, as did Mary, to learn of the divine Teacher.

The reason why the youth, and even those of mature years, are so easily led into temptation and sin, is that they do not study the word of God and meditate upon it as they should.

The mind that is earthly finds no pleasure in contemplating the word of God; but for the mind renewed by the Holy Spirit, divine beauty and celestial light shine from the sacred page. Let the cross of Christ be made the science of all education, the center of all teaching and all study. The book of nature and the written word shed light upon each other. From the study of the word of life, students may come forth with minds *expanded, *elevated, *ennobled.

He who has a knowledge of God and His word through personal experience has a settled faith in the divinity of the Holy Scriptures. He has proved that God's word is truth, and he knows that truth can never contradict itself.

God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. Galatians 6:14

The strongest evidence of man's fall from a higher state is the fact that it costs so much to return.

Character building is the work, not of a day, nor of a year, but of a lifetime.

We have no time to lose. We know not how soon our probation may close. At the longest, we have but a brief lifetime here, and we know not how soon the arrow of death may strike our hearts.

Through sin the whole human organism is deranged, the mind is perverted, the imagination corrupted. Sin has degraded the faculties of the soul.  No act of wickedness will the law of God excuse; Beset with temptations without number, we must resist firmly or be conquered. All must engage in this warfare for themselves; no one else can fight our battles. The principles of the word of God--principles that are as high as heaven, and that compass eternity--we are to understand in their bearing upon our daily life.  Our natural tendencies, unless corrected by the Holy Spirit of God, have in them the seeds of moral death.
Unless we become vitally connected with God, we cannot resist the unhallowed effects of *self-indulgence, *self-love, and *temptation to sin. The knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ expressed in character is an exaltation above everything else that is esteemed on earth or in heaven. It is the very highest education. This knowledge it is God's purpose that all who put on Christ shall possess.

There is a science of Christianity to be mastered--a science as much deeper, broader, higher than any human science as the heavens are higher than the earth.
The life of the apostle Paul was a constant conflict with self. He said, I die daily.
1 Corinthians 15:31

ARCHAEOLOGY: A Big Q:

The foolishness of man perverteth his way:
and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
Proverbs 19:3

"Scientists have discovered fragments of protein inside a 195-million-year-old dinosaur bone, by far the oldest such traces of soft tissue ever detected.
The find – a technical tour de force that did not require destroying the bone to analyze its contents – is another indication of the potential for new laboratory methods to reveal details about long-extinct species that were previously thought inaccessible.
The bone that yielded the discovery was the rib of a Lufengosaurus, a long-necked plant-eating dinosaur that roamed what is now southwestern China in the early part of the Jurassic period. The results were published Tuesday in the journal Nature." TheGlobe&Mail
A Big Q:....
Does anyone actually believe this SOFT TISSUE is 195,000,000 years old?....did not think so...

Glait on the Sabbath

For whosoever shall keep the whole law,
and yet offend in one point,
he is guilty of all.
James 2:10
"Oswald Glait, about 1529, became the first to point out that the true Sabbath was the "seventh" day. Glait pointed out that the moral law of the Decalogue was as binding on Christians under the new covenant as it had been in the Old. "Either the Sabbath must be kept," he argued, "or all the other nine commandments must also be rejected."
He maintained that the ceremonial law was the shadow that passed away, but God's moral law stands firm. "Sunday," he said, "is the pope's invention," and the abrogation of the Sabbath is none other than "the devil's work." BAT

"Oswald Glait (1490 – 1546) was a German Anabaptist and Sabbatarian. Originally a follower of Balthasar Hubmaier, in 1527 in the Nikolsburg dispute he sided with the pacifist position of Hans Hut. He then appears in Silesia, along with Andreas Fischer, as a leader of an Anabaptist group there. He penned a booklet, Vom Sabbat, advocating the (re)institution of Saturday/Sabbath keeping as a Christian practice, thus restoring what Glaidt argued had been the original practice of the Apostolic church of the New Testament. There is also good evidence in this writing that Glait strongly believed that Christ's Second Coming was to occur in the very near future (this shows the extent of Hans Hut's influence on Glaidt at this time). Glait appears later in the sources attached to the nascent Hutterite group in Moravia. He was arrested and imprisoned in Vienna in 1545, then taken out at night and drowned in autumn 1546." wikipedia

On the Streets of Babylon - New Bible "Translation"?

Babylon is fallen, is fallen,..
Come out of her, my people,
Revelation 14:8/18:4
There's a new Bible "translation" on the Streets of Babylon...so be careful when crossing the street out there....

"There is a new bible translation interpretation … let’s just cut to the chase, it’s not even a bible. It’s a collection of fiction stories that have a somewhat similar theme to the Scriptures but adds a whole lot of personal imagination to it.

This new storybook is called The Passion Translation. It’s popular among the New Apostolic
Apostate Reformation (NAR) crowd and quoted regularly by hyper-charismatic false teachers like Bill Johnson and Mike Bickle. The book was translated embellished by “Apostle” Brian Simmons, a former missionary in Panama. Brian Simmons claims that God gave him a direct divine revelation to create this embellished and highly interpreted creation that he refers to as The Passion Translation.

Avoid this piece of work, and Brian Simmons, like the plague.
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. — 2 Timothy 4:3-5 (ESV)." Pen&Pulpit

Omnipotence of the United Trinity

I will help thee, saith the Lord.
  Isaiah 41:14

"This morning let us hear the Lord Jesus speak to each one of us:
"I will help thee."

What! not help thee? Why, I bought thee with My blood.
What! not help thee? I have died for thee;

Dost thou need more strength than the omnipotence of the United Trinity?
*Dost thou want more wisdom than exists in the Father,
*more love than displays itself in the Son,
*or more power than is manifest in the influences of the Spirit?

Bring hither thine empty pitcher! Behold, this river of God is full for thy supply; what canst thou desire beside?  The Eternal God is thine helper!"
Charles Spurgeon

IN the NEWS - Bride & Groom Removed

"Norway's Lutheran Church voted on Monday in favor of new ceremonial language that will allow its
pastors to conduct same-sex marriages, bringing it into line with several other mainstream Protestant denominations abroad.
Last April the annual conference of the church—to which nearly three-quarters of Norwegians said in 2015 they belonged—backed the principle of same-sex marriages, but did not agree on a wording.
Monday's decision involved modifying the marriage text to make it gender-neutral, removing the words "bride" and "groom." The new liturgy will come into effect on Wednesday.
In 2015 the French Protestant Church allowed gay marriage blessings, while the U.S. Presbyterian Church approved a change in the wording of its constitution to include same-sex marriage.
"I hope that all Churches in the world can be inspired by this new liturgy," said Gard Sandaker-Nilsen, leader of the Open Public Church, a movement within the Lutheran Church that campaigned to change the rules." Reuters
I say this because some ungodly people
have wormed their way into your churches,
saying that God’s marvelous grace
allows us to live immoral lives.
The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago,

IN the NEWS - "Overdue"?

In the below article from Live Science, they discuss being overdue for a Magnetic Pole Reversal. How would this disrupt civilization on earth? What IF this does happen in the near future? Could the havoc it would wreak on earth be the catalyst for implementing the mark? Who knows...Let's not get ahead of ourselves here....Just a possibility among many out there...

"In 2003, the so-called Halloween storm caused local electricity-grid blackouts in Sweden, required the rerouting of flights to avoid communication blackout and radiation risk, and disrupted satellites
and communication systems. But this storm was minor in comparison with other storms of the recent past, such as the 1859 Carrington event, which caused aurorae as far south as the Caribbean.
The impact of a major storm on today's electronic infrastructure is not fully known. Of course any time spent without electricity, heating, air conditioning, GPS or internet would have a major impact; widespread blackouts could result in economic disruption measuring in tens of billions of dollars a day.
In terms of life on Earth and the direct impact of a reversal on our species we cannot definitively predict what will happen...The simple fact that we are "overdue" for a full reversal...
The prospect of being able to forecast the Earth's core is perhaps not too far out of reach."

IN the NEWS - Recent Christmas POLL

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise:
Matthew 1:18
"A new Marist poll shows that a majority of Americans — by 20 percentage points — say they like the greeting “Merry Christmas” rather than the generic “Happy Holidays” this time of year. In addition, a strong majority also associates the meaning of the holiday with Jesus’ birth.
... — 57 percent — say they prefer “Merry Christmas,” ...— 37 percent — prefer “Happy Holidays.”
The poll also found — 79 percent — strongly or very strongly identify the birth of Jesus with the meaning of Christmas." CNS

Creation Moment 2/1/2017 - Fern downs evolutionary long ages

"Fossils from the plant group known as royal ferns (Osmundaceae) have long been known to look much the same as today’s—despite being reckoned to be over ‘200 million years old’. Evolutionists would, nonetheless, have expected considerable chromosomal and genetic changes in such vast periods of time. It is common, for instance, for plants to multiply their chromosomal count
(polyploidy), which can mean they still look much the same (apart from often being larger).
A report in Science magazine notes that the stem of one of these ‘ancient’ fossil ferns has been found to be amazingly “exquisitely preserved."
In fact, it still shows details of “cytoplasm, cytosol granules, nuclei and even chromosomes in various stages of cell division.” The structure of the latter in particular could be matched to chromosomes of the same fern group alive today.
From this, the researchers conclude that both this fossil fern and its living counterparts “likely share the same chromosome count and DNA content…[which suggests] that neither ploidization events nor notable amounts of gene loss have occurred in the royal ferns” in the intervening time period, alleged to be 180 million years (!)."
