Meditation Upon the PSALMS Series: Psalm 62

"Psalm 62:
Whether Absalom’s rebellion is the setting or not David writes this psalm while facing treason from someone.
David faces the problem of his adversaries forthrightly, but his thoughts focus primarily on God.

I. Affirming God’s Covenant Relationship (62:1-2, 5-6).
II. Confronting One’s Treasonous Adversaries (62:3-4).
III. Trusting God’s Sovereignty (62:7-10).
IV.  Praising God’s Power and Mercy (62:11-12).

Psalm 62:1 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from Him [cometh]
my salvation.

Psalm 62:2 He only [is] my rock and my salvation; [He is] my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.
Psalm 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation [is] from Him.
Psalm 62:8 Trust in Him at all times; [ye] people, pour out your heart before Him: God [is] a refuge for us. Selah.

Psalm 62:9
Surely men of low degree [are] vanity,
[and] men of high degree [are] a lie:
to be laid in the balance,
they [are] altogether [lighter] than vanity.
Men of low degree are only vanity, nothing more.
To be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. Take a true estimate of them; judge them neither by quantity nor by appearance, but by weight, and they will no longer deceive you."
