“As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?’ ‘Who are you, Lord?’ Saul asked. ‘I am Jesus, Whom you are
persecuting,’ He replied.” Acts 9:3–5.
Saul was shocked.
He saw Jesus in person, in His inaugurated, glorified position in the holy place of the sanctuary in heaven.
Revelation 1:16, last part, gives a description of Jesus as High Priest.
It says, “His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.”
When you look at the sun too long, you become blinded.
Saul could not turn his eyes from Jesus and he went temporarily blind.
Upon the soul of the stricken Jew the image of the Savior’s countenance was imprinted forever.”
