Evagrius was one of the "Desert Fathers" who lived in the Egyptian desert during the Roman Empire. He was influential for bringing methodology into monastic contemplation and coming up with "8 sins" (gluttony, fornication, avarice, dejection, anger, weariness, vainglory, pride) and then divided them into different parts of the soul based on the division of it by Plato.
Another example of Greek paganism creeping into Christian thinking. Plato had a major influence on the early Church "fathers".
.......but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
