Some of Johnson’s conclusions:
Gender identity—a person’s internal sense of their own gender—is the primary factor in determining a person’s sex.
According to the medical consensus, gender identity is innate, and attempts to change a person’s gender identity are unethical and harmful to a person’s health and well-being.
Birth certificates can harm a transgender person, and  inhibits their ability to self-define and express their identity."

Only a few months after the Scopes trial the Soviet government gave Ivanov 10,000 dollars, 130,000 in today’s dollars, to prove his ape-human theory.
Ivanov attempted at least three times, without success, to inseminate female chimpanzees with human sperm. He also attempted a set of experiments involving ape sperm and humans, but was unsuccessful for several reasons. Ivanov used Negro women because they were in his day believed to be biologically closer to apes, thus, he reasoned, the experiment would more likely be successful.

His belief was based on the writings of Darwin and others.
Darwin expected that, at some future point, “not very distant … the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace throughout the world the savage races,” thus making the gap between humans and apes even greater than it currently is now.

During His ministry His intimate acquaintance with the Scriptures testifies to His diligence in their study.
Our heavenly Father, in giving His word, did not overlook the children. In all that men have written, where can be found anything that has such a hold upon the heart, anything so well adapted to awaken the interest of the little ones, as the stories of the Bible?  
In these simple stories may be made plain the great principles of the law of God.
Thus by illustrations best suited to the child's comprehension, parents and teachers may begin very early to fulfill the Lord's injunction concerning His precepts:  Thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deuteronomy 6:7.  
In order to interest our children in the Bible, we ourselves must be interested in it. To awaken in them a love for its study, we must love it.
In daily study the verse-by-verse method is often most helpful. Let the student take one verse, and concentrate the mind on ascertaining the thought that God has put into that verse for him, and then dwell upon the thought until it becomes his own.
One passage thus studied until its significance is clear is of more value than the perusal of many chapters with no definite purpose in view and no positive instruction gained.  

Lesson of the Altar(s) of Abraham

Previously, Satanism in America had always been a shadowy

Instead of avoiding the public eye, they believe that their rebellion against conservatives and Christians “requires a level of political participation”…
The organization grew rapidly after it was founded, but if Hillary Clinton had won the 2016 election that probably would have put a damper on their political activism.
But once Donald Trump won the election, interest in the group absolutely exploded…

getting a lot of attention right now.
And even many leftists that have absolutely no intention of joining the Satanic Temple are saying very positive things about the organization.  For example, the following comes from a Huffington Post article entitled “Satan Is Having A Moment”…

"William Lane Craig is one of the best-known Christian apologist in the world today. Unfortunately, in the last few years, he has severely departed from his calling.....
In an interview with the New York Times, well known as an anti-Christian source that was once a sympathetic trumpet for Stalin in the USA, Craig folded on biblical inerrancy, including in Genesis:

Nicholas Kristof: You don’t believe the Genesis account that the world was created in six days, or that Eve was made from Adam’s rib, do you? If the Hebrew Bible’s stories need not be taken literally, why not also accept that the New Testament writers took liberties?
William Lane Craig: Because the Gospels are a different type of literature than the primeval history of Genesis 1–11. The eminent Assyriologist Thorkild Jacobsen described Genesis 1–11 as history clothed in the figurative language of mythology, a genre he dubbed “mytho-history.” By contrast, the consensus among historians is that the Gospels belong to the genre of ancient biography, like the ‘Lives of Greeks and Romans’ written by Plutarch. As such, they aim to provide a historically reliable account.

One wonders why a secular Assyriologist should be taken as, well, Gospel truth on the genre of Genesis. But indeed the Gospels are a historically reliable ancient biographies. But one thing Craig repeatedly ignores is that these reliable Gospel writers and their chief subject, Jesus Christ, affirm Genesis as history!

Kristof: How do you account for the many contradictions within the New Testament? For example, Matthew says Judas hanged himself, while Acts says that he “burst open.” They can’t both be right, so why insist on inerrancy of Scripture?

Craig: I don’t insist on the inerrancy of Scripture. Rather, what I insist on is what C.S. Lewis called “mere Christianity,” that is to say, the core doctrines of Christianity. Harmonizing perceived contradictions in the Bible is a matter of in-house discussion amongst Christians. What really matters are questions like: Does God exist? Are there objective moral values? Was Jesus truly God and truly man? How did his death on a Roman cross serve to overcome our moral wrongdoing and estrangement from God? These are, as one philosopher puts it, the “questions that matter,” not how Judas died.

So when faced with a village-atheopath–level attack on the Bible, Craig just punted.
A common and reasonable explanation for Matthew 27:3–8 and Acts 1:18–19, but not the only one, is that he hanged himself, as Matthew says, and eventually the branch broke. This would result, as Acts says, in Judas “falling headlong” (which Kristof omits), so his body broke open, as bloated dead bodies can do."

Which doctrines? Doctrines such as:

• the creation of the world by the direct and miraculous operation of God;
• the descent of the entire human race by natural generation from one human couple especially created by God at the outset of history;
• the creation of Eve after Adam and from the physical substance of Adam;
• the historical Fall of mankind into sin through the first sin of Adam;
• God’s design for marriage as exclusively heterosexual in nature;
• the Flood as a real event of history that destroyed all mankind except for the eight people who were in the ark;
• and the division of tongues at Babel as a real event of history.

.....one of the strategies that Satan has used to weaken the testimony of God’s people in the face of an unbelieving world has been to cast doubt on the meaning of the early chapters of the Bible.
Why do I say that?
Because if you are in doubt concerning the correct interpretation of these chapters, that will produce an agnosticism regarding the interpretation of other parts of the Bible as well.
For example, if you question the existence of Adam as a real person in history, what are you going to do with the words of the apostle Paul in Romans 5 when he says that “sin came into the world through one man” and that “one trespass led to condemnation for all men” (Romans 5:12, 18)?
If you sow doubts about the veracity of Genesis as a record of actual historical events, in the end you sow doubts about the interpretation of the entire Bible."

SDA Issues - Music & the "holy flesh" movement

"Well there was a time when music was used incorrectly in worship service. 

It was taught by a Conference evangelist in Indiana named Elder S.S. Davis in 1898, 1899.  He began a movement know as “The cleansing Movement” later to be termed “the holy flesh movement”. 

It was a teaching of the devil that we needed to have the same

experience as Jesus did in the garden of Gethsemane.  It was also said that Jesus  experienced holy flesh in His Gethsemane and if we followed in the same footsteps we could gain holy flesh too, and have “translation faith”. 

By obtaining this holy flesh you would not see any more corruption than Jesus did, and by having this translation faith you would be like Enoch and Elijah.  Those that did not have this experience would have to pass through death in order to obtain your reward.

In order to achieve this holy flesh and translation faith, the people would gather at many meetings where there were
--long prayers,
--loud music and excitement
--and hysterical preaching. 

They were led to experience a physical demonstration of their faith through the music.  As the emotion grew, many fell prostrate on the ground and were carried off to the pulpit where shouting would be given to the person who was passed out.  Through that experience it was taught that one gained their “spiritual flesh.”

"Worship is big on the radar screen of most churches; isn’t worship the highest function of the corporate body? 

We gather in the Worship Center, and have our Worship Leader lead us in worship. 

Yet could it be true that much of what passes for worship today amounts to entertainment (dramatic solos and choral performances and concerts), or trying to get the audience into a certain worship mood? 
Many contemporary choruses, drowned out by drums and guitars, often say words like You alone I long to worship, you alone are worthy of my praise, yet fail to explain why God is worthy of worship. 

Creation can lift worship off the reefs of apathy, send it into the open sea and put wind into its sails!

As an educator no part of the Bible is of greater value than are its biographies.
None but He who reads the heart, who discerns the secret springs of motive and action, can with absolute truth delineate character, or give a faithful picture of a human life. In God's word alone is found such delineation.

No truth does the Bible more clearly teach than that what we do is the result of what we are. To a great degree the experiences of life are the fruition of our own thoughts and deeds. 
The same experience is repeated in the history of Jacob's sons--sin working retribution, and repentance bearing fruit of righteousness unto life.  
Of the sons of Jacob, Levi was one of the most cruel and vindictive, one of the two most guilty in the treacherous murder of the Shechemites. Levi's characteristics, reflected in his descendants, incurred for them the decree from God, I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel. Genesis 49:7. But repentance wrought reformation; and by their faithfulness to God amidst the apostasy of the other tribes, the curse was transformed into a token of highest honor.
This is why God has given so many examples showing the results of even one wrong act. From the sad story of that one sin which brought death into the world and all our woe, with loss of Eden, to the record of him who for thirty pieces of silver sold the Lord of glory, Bible biography abounds in these examples, set up as beacons of warning at the byways leading from the path of life.  

"Spots" in the Church

These are spots in your feasts of charity,
when they feast with you,
feeding themselves without fear.
Jude 1:12

"The “spots” that the translators chose for this description by Jude may be better understood as “hidden rocks” just below a lake’s surface or covered over by shallow sand in a pathway. Spilas is the Greek word, not used elsewhere in the New Testament.

But the imagery also appears to express the danger that the “spots” present amidst the loving environment of most churches. Jude gives several insights about the character of those who would resist “the faith.” These people have established themselves as they feast and are “feeding themselves without fear.”
The word choices are powerful.

The spots are suneuocheo (feeding with) and getting along very well with the rest of the church, shepherding themselves (poimaino) boldly (aphobos).
These evil men have become so entrenched that they lead their own faction with no fear of resistance or confrontation.

Peter describes such people as “spots . . . and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you . . . that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls” (2 Peter 2:13-14).
Not a pretty picture. God does not tolerate such ungodly behavior, and neither should we."

Creation Moment 4/22/2019 - Escape Hatch of Multiverse Theory

"The implications of a Designer are so strong, in fact, that atheists have been forced to come up with a mechanism to ‘explain away’ this extremely odd fact (odd only from the atheist perspective, of course).

One of the ways this is done is by appealing to ‘multiverse theory’. In a reality in which only chance rules, the universe we observe is highly unlikely to occur.
But, they reason, if our universe was only one of an infinite number of universes, then perhaps ours just happens to be the one that hit the lucky jackpot. It’s only natural that we should observe it, since if we were in any of the other ones, we wouldn’t be able to exist at all!
As a response to cosmic fine tuning, this is hardly an acceptable scientific answer; rather, this is an ad hoc ‘way out’ of the fine tuning problem.
There is no empirical evidence for the existence of other universes—all our data are, by definition, part of the universe in which we exist!"
