The Unmuzzled Ox

Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

Deuteronomy 25:4

"This Mosaic regulation would seem rather insignificant, except that it is quoted twice in the New Testament. I Corinthians 9:9-10: "For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?"

Yes, but that is not the main purpose behind this law. "Or saith He it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope." This application is drawn in verse 14: "Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel." That is, supporting financially those who devote full time to God's work is not "charitable giving," but compensation for services, with the pay to be provided by those who receive the benefit of their labors.

This is even more clear in the second reference: "Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and doctrine. For the Scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The laborer is worthy of his reward" (I Timothy 5:17-18), the latter part quoting words of Christ (Luke 10:7). Incidentally, note that both New Testament and Old Testament Scriptures are considered divinely inspired and authoritative on any subject with which they deal.

The subject here is just compensation for those who devote their time, training, and abilities to the work of the Word, under the call and leading of God, as recognized by the people of God. This seemingly insignificant principle, if faithfully obeyed, would greatly enlarge the effectiveness and outreach of the Christian witness in the world." HMM

CULTS: 3 Observations

Atheists like to mock online with the question "what's the difference between a cult and Christians"? Their answer is generally "nothing".

But that isn't true.....

After studying cults (like the Branch Davidians & Koresh, Jim Jones & the People's Temple as well as the Heaven's Gate cult, etc....) two things stand out:

1) CULTS view that it's all about their small group in a specific location on earth where they're at. (such as Koresh at Mt. Carmel in Texas or Jim Jones in Jonestown).

---But Scripture teaches that in the end it will involve the WHOLE EARTH and God's people will be all over the place. It will NOT be secret but rather in the open and involve every human.
It will not be about a small group in a compound in the mountains of Idaho or on an uninhabited island in the South Pacific or a village in the Indus River Valley, etc.

....and they worshipped the beast,....And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life...

2) CULTS take away your free will with total mind control of nearly every aspect of your life in their dwelling place (such as

Koresh's followers in Mt. Carmel, Jim Jones followers at his compound in Guyana or the living quarters of those following Applewhite of Heavens Gate infamy, etc.).
---But to the cult members out there-GOD WILL GIVE YOU BACK YOUR FREE WILL if you come to Him. To choose to follow His ways voluntarily or to reject Him and do your own thing.

"We're expecting thousands. It's gonna be huge," JMMI Minister Anthony Moreaux told The Christian Post Thursday after he was asked about a flyer for the event. He also confirmed information on the flyer that White will be in attendance, noting that she is good friends with Yohe, who has told her more than one million followers on Facebook not to miss the event.
Minister Moreaux told CP that he has personally witnessed healings at the miracle crusade against cancer which has been happening for a number of years.
"I have seen hundreds healed," Moreaux said. "It is unreal. I've literally seen it with my own two eyes. People coming with tumors, coming back and testifying with medical reports in their hands that tumors have evaporated from their bodies."
When asked if he could provide verifiable evidence of cancers that have been healed at the crusades, he promised to send select testimonies but they were not received at press time." CP

This series is designed to show that Koresh's main claim to prophetic fame (his 7 seals interpretations) are Heretical. Apparently there was a miniseries about Koresh made recently which is creating a bit of a Koresh buzz/interest out there...So this is to demonstrate to those who want to link him to Adventism that he wasn't teaching Adventism (which happened to me once when I wasn't expecting it while working at a pizza joint). Sort of my own "miniseries".

Creation Moment 2/23/2018 - What Planaria Teach Us

"The planaria, a type of flatworm, has an amazing capacity to regenerate a new body from just fragments of tissue. Its genome has just been sequenced. The surprising result is a completely unexpected evolutionary conundrum.

 Their size can actually self-adjust within a 50-fold range depending on the amount of available resources.
A variety of creatures can regenerate new tails or limbs, but the planaria can regenerate entire new bodies. You can cut one in half in any direction and you will eventually get two new worms. Some researchers have cut them into hundreds of pieces and observed regeneration from each fragment. The worms’ dynamic bodily engineering allows astonishing regenerative capabilities resulting in the regeneration of complete and perfectly proportioned worms even from tiny remnants of tissue.
To get at the root of the planaria regeneration mystery, scientists just completed the most comprehensive version of its genome using a combination of cutting-edge DNA sequencing and genome mapping technologies. Previous attempts had been made, but the genome of the little worm has been difficult to tackle.
This is due to large and unusual repeated segments of DNA as well as high levels of genetic variability that has been difficult to eliminate. Also, the planaria genome has a lot higher content of A and T nucleotide letters than G and C, compared to other animals. All of these factors made the DNA difficult to sequence and decipher.

The uniqueness that made the planaria genome difficult to sequence, combined with the new data obtained, resulted in serious contradictions with the evolutionary worldview of the scientists doing the research.
One of the main premises of evolution is that you should see a continuum of increasing complexity. New genes and features should be added as creatures become more advanced in the imaginary tree of life. In defiance of macroevolutionary predictions based on supposed related common ancestors, the worms were missing 452 genes commonly found in many other animals. Many of these missing genes are present in alleged prior and later ancestors and associated with common metabolic processes. How could all these genes disappear and then reappear again along the tree of life?
In addition to the supposed loss of important genes that would line up with the evolutionary story, many new types of genes and DNA sequences were discovered in the planaria. It has become a common theme to find conflicts between genome sequences and evolutionary predictions. The evidence for an evolutionary continuum in the DNA of living creatures across the spectrum of life simply isn’t there.
However, many creatures share similar genes and other DNA sequences for common developmental and metabolic processes. This is a predicted feature of intelligently engineered systems. The clearly observable conclusion and best explanation for the conflicts between DNA sequences and evolutionary predictions is Design. ARCHAEOLOGY: Esarhaddon

"Ancient 2,700-year-old inscriptions have been uncovered underneath the biblical Tomb of Jonah, 

Esarhaddon

which was destroyed by Islamic State terror group militants in 2014 in Iraq. The inscriptions mention "great gods" belonging to the Assyrian tradition.
The latest archaeological digs beneath the tomb have discovered inscriptions describing the rule of the Assyrian king Esarhaddon, who is mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.

Esarhaddon is also said to have "reconstructed the temple of the god Aššur [the chief god of the Assyrians]," another inscription reads. It adds that Esarhaddon also rebuilt the ancient cities of Babylon and Esagil, and "renewed the statues of the great gods."

"The palace of Esarhaddon, strong king,

Esarhaddon is also said to have renovated a palace built for King Sennacherib, whose military rule is described in II Chronicles 32:1 in the Old Testament, reading: "After all that Hezekiah had so faithfully done, Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah. He laid siege to the fortified cities, thinking to conquer them for himself."

Archaeologists have found stone sculptures of other ancient deities, such as an Assyrian demi-goddess believed to sprinkle "water of life" to protect humans in her care.

 The inscriptions also tell of Esarhaddon's family history, saying that he is the son of Sennacherib [reign 704–681 B.C.] and a descendent of Sargon II (reign 721–705 B.C.), who was also "king of the world, king of Assyria."CP

What Jeremiah 22 shows us

LifeSiteNews has obtained internal documents of the U.S.-based Papal Foundation, a charity with a stellar history of assisting the world’s poor, showing that last summer the Pope personally requested, and obtained in part, a $25 million grant to a corruption-plagued, Church-owned dermatological hospital in Rome accused

of money laundering. Records from the financial police indicate the hospital has liabilities over one billion USD – an amount larger than the national debt of some 20 nations.
The grant has lay members of the Papal Foundation up in arms, and some tendering resignations.
According to the internal documents, the Pope made the request for the massive grant, which is 100 times larger than its normal grants, through Papal Foundation board chairman Cardinal Donald Wuerl in the summer of 2017.
Despite opposition from the lay “stewards,” the bishops on the board voted in December to send an $8 million payment to the Holy See. In January, the documents reveal, lay members raised alarm about what they consider a gross misuse of their funds, but despite their protests another $5 million was sent with Cardinal Wuerl brooking no dissent.
The audit committee chairman’s report noted that the Foundation’s “initial $8 million was sent without any supporting documentation.”
He said the board eventually received a “2-1/2 inch thick binder of information (mostly in Italian)” but it lacked essential details. The report notes:

There was no Balance Sheet.  There was no clear explanation as to how the $25 million would be used. Normal grant requests are fairly specific about how our money will be used. Buried in the thick binder was only a one-page financial projection labelled “Draft for Discussion” showing:

And on this data, our Board of Directors voted to grant this failing hospital $25 million of our hard-earned dollars. To put this in perspective, rarely have we given above $200,000 to a grant request.

 Pope Francis asked for the funds to be directed to the Istituto Dermopatico dell'Immacolata (IDI), a dermatological hospital in Rome that has been plagued with corruption and financial scandal for years.
On May 15, 2013, ANSA, the leading news wire in Italy, reported “police confiscated over six million euros worth of property and bank accounts as part of investigations into alleged corruption at the Italian hospital group Istituto Dermopatico dell'Immacolata (IDI).”
The news of Vatican financial corruption connected to the IDI hit international headlines in 2015 with a June 20 Reuters article showing the Italian magistrates suspected Vatican Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi diverted 30 million euros destined for a Church-owned children’s hospital to the Church-owned IDI.
Another ANSA piece from 2016 reported, “Finance police discovered IDI was 845 million euros in the red and 450 million euros in tax evasion while 82 million euros had been diverted and six million euros in public funds embezzled.”
That document, sent by Foundation President Bishop Michael Bransfield, and signed by Cardinal Wuerl, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, as well as several Stewards on the executive, highlights that the request for the donation came directly from Pope Francis." Lifesite

Creation Moment 2/21/2018 - Death of a Myth

"A favorite tale from the Apollo era, the so-called Late Heavy Bombardment, is being bombarded itself.

It was a nice story while it lasted. It explained craters on the moon and the timing of life on the earth. It gave TV animators something to do. But it never happened. At Nature, Adam Mann writes that “New analyses undermine a popular theory about an intense asteroid storm 4 billion years ago.”  First, he recounts the old myth:

Early in Earth’s history, roughly half a billion years after the planet formed, all hell broke loose in the inner Solar System. A barrage of asteroids — some the size of Hong Kong — pummelled the globe intensely enough to melt large parts of its surface. This incendiary spree around 4 billion years ago vaporized most of Earth’s water and perhaps even sterilized its exterior, killing off any life that might have started to emerge. Only after this storm of impacts passed did the planet become safe enough for hardy

organisms to take firm root and eventually give rise to all later life.

What happened to this story that has been repeated since the 1970s? Increasing numbers of geophysicists are calling the LHB fake science.

That horrific episode, known as the Late Heavy Bombardment (LHB), has been an integral part of Earth’s origin story for decades, ever since geologists did a systematic study of samples brought back from the Moon by NASA Apollo missions. But now, the once-popular theory has come under attack, and mounting evidence is causing many researchers to abandon it.

The reason that moon rocks were used to fortify the LHB is that earth rocks have been recycled by plate tectonics, he says. The moon, though, was supposed to preserve a pristine record of early solar system history.

What happened? The LHB myth began when Caltech scientists measured the same radiometric date, 3.96 billion years, in moon rocks from four widely separated sites. Using scientific divination, they envisioned a flurry of impacts all around the same time, giving it the name Late Heavy Bombardment. But not everyone liked the story. “The idea was immediately divisive,” Mann says, “in large part because of ambiguity in the rock dating.”

What would cause a flurry of asteroids to strike the inner solar system after things should have settled down? In 2005, another idea, the “Nice model” (named after the city of Nice in France where it was conceived), proposed that interactions of Jupiter with the Kuiper Belt might have sent objects in to create the LHB. Most planetary scientists accepted this as the source of the unusual bombardment. 

The story began to unravel in 2009, when planetologists began to suspect that all the Apollo samples with the same date had come from Mare Imbrium. Crater count dating and re-analysis of radiometric dates began to spread the ages, not indicating a spike at 3.96 billion years. Mark Harrison may have said too much:

Others are still scrutinizing the original Apollo evidence. To determine the samples’ ages, researchers heated the rocks to release argon, slowly ramping up the temperature. But as far back as 1991, Harrison had pointed out that the process won’t work well for rocks containing multiple minerals. Different minerals will release their argon at different temperatures. A sample heated to 400 °C might provide an age of 2 billion years; to 500 °C, an age of 2.5 billion. Researchers have tried to extrapolate from this behaviour, but Harrison says the complex patterns often lead them to pick essentially

arbitrary ages. “This is quackery,” he says. “There’s no physical basis for it.”

Others disagree, so it has taken awhile for the myth of the LHB to evaporate.

Such back and forth underscores how difficult it can be to tease small clues out of extremely ancient rocks. “Sherlock Holmes was good at resolving mysteries that happened last year,” says David Nesvorný, a planetary scientist at the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado. “This all happened 4 billion years ago.”

Meanwhile, the Nice Model, that seemed to clinch the LHB, has come under attack as well. Modelers are realizing that getting a late bombardment to work is like trying to balance a pencil on its tip, Mann writes. One of the architects of the Nice Model now “admits that the first versions took fine-tuning to get the reshuffling to occur so late.” He now predicts that the LHB idea will be abandoned, after the last holdouts change their minds.
How could astronomers be so wrong?

This is an important article for a number of reasons.
*One issue concerns radiometric dating. The public is taught that it is infallible, but we see the scientists themselves disputing the results and pointing out sources of error in interpretation.
*Another issue is the sociology of science: these guys commit intellectual inbreeding inside their cliques. Sure, they may disagree about details, but they drink beer together and all know each other. How likely are they to think totally outside the box?" CEH

Refuting Koresh on the 7 Seals SERIES: Seal 4

REFUTING DAVID KORESH ON THE 7 SEALS

This series is designed to show that Koresh's main claim to prophetic fame (his 7 seals interpretations) are Heretical. Apparently there was a miniseries about Koresh made recently which is creating a bit of a Koresh buzz/interest out there...So this is to demonstrate to those who want to link him to Adventism that he wasn't teaching Adventism (which happened to me once when I wasn't expecting it while working at a pizza joint). Sort of my own "miniseries".

SEAL 4

 

"The fourth seal (Revelation 6:7-8) is Death, and the grave follows after it. The language of this seal given in Revelation 6:8 refers back to Ezekiel 5:12, 17. This section of Ezekiel (Chapters 4 and 5) describes the seige on Jerusalem by Babylon. *To the Branch Davidians, Jerusalem here refers to Mt. Carmel, and Babylon refers to the world.

To the Branch Davidians, this siege is the one which began on 28 February 1993 at Mt. Carmel and lasted 51 days. Brad Branch, one of the Branch Davidians who exited Mt. Carmel, said that in his final, private, Bible study *Koresh claimed the Mt. Carmel standoff was also the siege described in Zechariah 14:2. *Koresh said those like Branch who left were those who "shall go into captivity" (Zechariah 14:2). Koresh also told Branch that the "chariots" that "come with flaming torches" in Nahum 2:3-4 were the tanks outside.

The Branch Davidians see these events as a microcosm of a final battle between the kingdoms of men and the Kingdom of God. *They expect literal Jerusalem to be attacked in a similar battle shortly before the coming of God and the return of the Lamb (Koresh)." WF

 

An Adventist RESPONSE:

*Nowhere is Scripture is a place referred to specifically in Texas.

*First, all cults I've noticed make it about them in a specific location on earth, whereas scripture has the closing events as global involving the whole planet and all of mankind. Second, as for Zech. 14:12, it states that the oppressors would- Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth....did that happen at Waco?

*Did Koresh & his cohorts go into captivity or death?

*"Literal Jerusalem" attacked? Sounds like they borrowed from dispensational pre-millennialism (the "secret rapture" crowd in laymens terms) which is NOT Adventist, but rather the view of many denominations opposed to Adventism...

*Koresh prophesied lies about Biblical prophetic geography involving a point in Texas

*Koresh prophesied lies about what would happen to his attackers

*Koresh prophesied lies about going into "captivity"

*Koresh prophesied lies based on the heresy of dispensationalism

Fallow Ground

For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem,

Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.

Jeremiah 4:3

"Fallow ground is ground that has been plowed and readied for sowing but then is withheld and allowed to lie useless and unproductive.

God, through His prophet, had to rebuke His people not only because they had left their prepared ground unused, but because they were actually sowing their seed on thorn-choked ground. That is, they were turning to idols and forsaking God.

The word “fallow” occurs one other time in the Bible and to the same effect: “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you” (Hosea 10:12).

Now, if the ancient Israelites had much unfruitful fallow ground in their lives, many modern Christians are still more blameworthy, for we have far greater opportunities and privileges than the people of ancient Israel.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting” (Galatians 6:7-8)." HMM
