Joel -Prophet of the Latter Rain SERIES: An Unprecedented Repentance

Chapter II.

"I. Verse 11: "The day of the Lord is great and very terrible;

and who can abide it? " a. Four kinds of darkness are mentioned for the purpose of revealing how awful that day is: It is a day of "darkness," of "gloominess," of "clouds," of "thick darkness." Verse 2.
It is darker than
--the darkness of Egypt,
--or the darkness at the cross of Christ when He was crucified,
--or the darkness of May 19, 1780.
b. The "day of the Lord " is un­precedented. "There hath not been ever the like." Verse 2.
God's people were to make stand out before the world the seriousness of "that day."

2. Verse 15: "Blow the trumpet in Zion, . . . call a solemn assembly."
a.  "A solemn assembly "— a "day of restraint," as in the margin of Joel 1: 14. God's people, then, would be learning restraint, while the world is practicing indulgence.
b.  "Sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play,"— such is the ver­dict against those who made the golden calf against the last generation. Ex. 32: 5, 6; 1 Cor. 10: 7, 11.

3. Verse 12: "Therefore . . . turn ye even to Me . . . with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning."
a.  Fasting was practiced on the day of atonement. Lev. 23: 27. We are now in the antitypical day of atone­ment.
 4. Verses 13 and 14: "Rend your heart, and not your garments." This is true repentance. "Leave a blessing behind Him; " or, restore to com­munion with Him.

5. Verses 15-17:
a.  "Call a solemn assembly." Verse 15. Terrible things are at hand. Or­dinary round of worship will not suf­fice.
Call a special convention; exam­ine the state of the church.
b.  "Assemble the elders." Verse 16. Hold a church officers' meeting which will accomplish something.
"Sanctify the congregation." Stay by until a thorough reformation is wrought.

c. "Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar." Verse 17. Call a workers' meeting! Poisonous theories, like a tainted atmosphere, are reaching the young. Cry to God, "Give not Thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them..."

SDA News - First SDA Missionary Dies of COVID-19

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15

"A Filipino physician has become the first Seventh-day Adventist missionary in active service to die of COVID-19 after contracting the virus in the Central African country of Cameroon.

Dr. Manuel Bellosillo, whose 25 years of mission work also took him to Zambia, Botswana and Nepal, fell ill with malaria at a remote hospital in Cameroon and then, in his weakened condition, succumbed to COVID-19. He was 67, and he and his wife, Elma, were only months from finishing a six-year mission term at the hospital.
Manuel Beldia Bellosillo was born on Feb. 18, 1953, to elementary teachers Silvester Burata Bellosillo Sr. and Victoria B. Bellosillo in Pontevedra, a coastal town in the central Capiz province, located about 375 miles south of the Philippines capital, Manila.
During their 11 years in Zambia, the family had no television, cell-phone reception, or Internet access at Yuka Adventist Hospital, located about 550 miles (990 kilometers) east of the national capital, Lusaka, and serving a surrounding village of small mud-and-straw houses. The local radio station was their only source of information. But the isolation enabled the family to focus more closely on the people whom they served and to make many friendships.
Dr. Bellosillo worked long hours and often was on call around the clock, especially during the years when he served as the only doctor in the hospital. At times, he slept next to a landline phone in the family’s living room so he could quickly answer calls to return to the hospital.
After Zambia, Dr. Bellosillo accepted a position at Kanye Seventh-day Adventist Hospital in Kanye, Botswana, where he served from 2004 to 2007. For the next five years, he worked at Scheer Memorial Adventist Hospital in Banepa, Nepal. Then he returned to Africa to work for two years at Batouri Adventist Hospital in Batouri, Cameroon, and later at Buea Seventh-day Adventist Hospital in Buea, Cameroon, a position that he held from 2014 until his illness. His mission term with the hospital was scheduled to end in 2020.
He also served as a church elder and a Sabbath School teacher and organized outreach programs.
Dr. Bellosillo contracted malaria in early May 2020 and again a second time in late May. A subsequent medical test on June 7 showed that he also had COVID-19. He passed away on June 17."

PSALM 16: The Golden Psalm

The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places;

yea, I have a goodly heritage.

PSALM 16:
"The attitude of the righteous man is described in life (verses 1-8) and death (verses 9-11).
The only prayer of Psalm 16 comes in the first line.
The rest of the psalm consists of David’s weaving together his personal testimonies of trust in the Lord. In view of this, David’s opening prayer is bolstered by two cycles of testimony.

1)  David’s Introductory Prayer (16:1); Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. vs.1
2)  David’s Testimony (16:2-11).

His testimony of Communion (16:2-4).

O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: vs.2

Its divine dimension (16:2)

...my goodness extendeth not to thee; vs.2

It’s human dimension (16:3-4)

Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: vs.4

His Testimony of Confidence (16:5-11)

The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. vs.5

“A Michtam of David”: Compare Psalms 56, 57, 58, 59 and 60. In spite of many conjectures, this designation remains obscure. MICHTAM OF DAVID. This is usually understood to mean THE GOLDEN PSALM, and such a title is most appropriate, for the matter is as the most fine gold.
This psalm begins with expressions of devotion, which may be applied to Christ; but ends with such confidence of a resurrection, as must be applied to Christ, and to him only.
We are not left to human interpreters for the key to this golden mystery, for, speaking by the Holy Ghost, Peter tells us, "David speaketh concerning HIM." (Acts 2:25)
Verses 8-11, are quoted by Peter in his first sermon, after the pouring out of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2:25-31.
Verse 2. "O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord." In his inmost heart the Lord Jesus bowed Himself to do service to His Heavenly Father, and before the throne of Jehovah His soul vowed allegiance to the Lord for our sakes."

Creation Moment 8/9/2020 - Phosphorus points to earth as Anomaly

"Phosphorus-rich stars with unusual abundances are challenging theoretical predictions (Nature Communications).
Phosphorus is essential for life (especially in DNA), but Earth has too much phosphorus for theory. Seven astronomers in Spain describe the conundrum, beginning with a restatement of the theory that the consensus believes must be true:

Our DNA and proteins depend on phosphorus compounds.

Almost all chemical elements have been made by nucleosynthetic reactions in various kind of stars and have been accumulated along our cosmic history. Among those elements, the origin of phosphorus is of extreme interest because it is known to be essential for life such as we know on Earth. However, current models of (Galactic) chemical evolution under-predict the phosphorus we observe in our Solar System. Here we report the discovery of 15 phosphorus-rich stars with unusual overabundances of O, Mg, Si, Al, and Ce.

In order to save their secular theory, they have to steal some extra phosphorus from elsewhere:

Phosphorus-rich stars likely inherit their peculiar chemistry from another nearby stellar source but their intriguing chemical abundance pattern challenge the present stellar nucleosynthesis theoretical predictions. Specific effects such as rotation or advanced nucleosynthesis in convective-reactive regions in massive stars represent the most promising alternatives to explain the existence of phosphorus-rich stars. The phosphorus-rich stars progenitors may significantly contribute to the phosphorus present on Earth today.

It “may” – or it may not. That’s just a story to rescue a theory that is out of sync with observations. The take-home message is: Earth is an anomaly according to secular theory, thank God."

Chapter II.

"1. Verse 2: "A great people and a strong; there hath not been

ever the like, neither shall be any more after it."a. Previous world crises were too feeble to serve as an illustration of this scene. Ex. 10: 14; Dan. 12: 1.
b. After the seven last plagues and after Armageddon, Jesus and His an­gel armies are revealed from heaven.
c. This revelation of the flaming hosts is recited before the terrible scenes of Armageddon in Joel 3, be­cause, if it came after, one might con­found the heathen armies of Armaged­don with the armies from heaven. Rev. 19: 11-14.

2. Verse 3: "A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burn­eth."
a. "Our God shall come, . . . a fire shall devour before Him." Pa. 50: 3.
b. "When the Lord Jesus shall be revealed . . . with His mighty angels, in flaming fire." 2 Thess. 1: 7, 8.

3. Verse 4: "The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run."
a. "The armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses." Rev. 19: 14.

4. Verses 5 and 6: Verse 5 portrays the crashing noise of overspreadihg ruin. (See also Zech. 1: 10.) Verse 6 indicates that they are irresistible ­"all faces shall gather blackness."

5. Verses 7.9 describe their order, innumerability, and success:
a. "They shall not break their ranks." Verse 7. This could not be said of human warriors.
b. "When they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded." Verse 8. This also could not be said of human warriors. No fatal stroke reaches their glorious body, as it would a human.
c. "They shall enter in at the win­dows like a thief." Verse 9. Prison windows, and other inaccessible places they enter in order to deliver God's people. "Behold, I come as a thief." Rev. 16: 15.

6. Verse 10: "The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall trem­ble." The planet-shaking power of God's angels is here revealed."

"Abolishing paper money has been a planned process by governments and central banks.

---Firstly it makes bank runs impossible. The banks will simply just turn off the ATMs. They can obviously also stop electronic transfers.
---The most important aspect of electronic money is the Big Brother is Watching Syndrome. Now the state has total electronic control of the citizens money not just from a tax point of view but the state can decide to block individual accounts or to charge fines or taxes without the permission of the account holder.

As regards hyperinflation, it is only a matter of time before inflation picks up as the frantic printing accelerates further in line with the collapsing economy. The current explosion of the Fed balance sheet combined with surging government debt will increase money supply exponentially. This will also lead to the dollar decline accelerating.

The dollar index peaked at 103 in March this year and has since then fallen 10% to 93 today. As the dollar continues to decline, US inflation will pick up. So far the official US inflation rate is just above zero. Anyone buying food or paying insurance for example knows that this is not a true figure. But the real reason why inflation is low in spite of the major increase in money supply is the low velocity of money.
All the money printed is not reaching the consumer but instead staying with banks and other major institutions to shore up their balance sheets. Very little reaches the real economy.
*Today the velocity has collapsed to an all time low of 0.9. So what we are seeing is that the money printed is not spent but used to prevent the financial system from collapsing.

Obviously governments and central banks will desperately try to introduce resets, new digital currencies, do a bit of hocus pocus with debt to pretend it has disappeared. The US might even revalue its alleged stock of 8,000 tons of gold. But their bluff will be called. The effects of any measure governments take will only be temporary as the world realizes that it really is bankrupt."

Creation Moment 8/8/2020 - New Theory Same Foolishness as the Old

"A “radical new theory” for the origin of life, as presented by Michael Marshall at New Scientist, “rewrites the story of how life on Earth began.”
It is so radical that it is nearly identical to a joke used by creationist speakers mocking evolution. One such speaker, showing the folly of evolution, would quip that a fully-assembled car was not designed; it just “oozed up out of the pavement.” He got a good laugh from the audience.
Now, try to read what Marshall says without laughing – if you can:

Many ideas have been proposed to explain how it [life]

began. Most are based on the assumption that cells are too complex to have formed all at once, so life must have started with just one component that survived and somehow created the others around it. When put into practice in the lab, however, these ideas don’t produce anything particularly lifelike. It is, some researchers are starting to realize, like trying to build a car by making a chassis and hoping wheels and an engine will spontaneously appear.

Joel -Prophet of the Latter Rain SERIES: The Crescendo

Chapter II.

"1. The message in the second chap­ter of Joel is appallingly more serious than the message in the first chapter:a. "Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their

children." Joel 1: 3. Here, from generation to generation, men were to "tell " of the approaching catastrophe.
b.  "Blow ye the trumpet, . . . sound an alarm." Joel 2: 1. It is now pres­ent, not future, action.
c. The "palmerworm," "locust, ' "cankerworm," a n d "caterpillar" (Joel 1: 4) were only preliminary judgments, but each was precursor and pledge of the final great dissolu­tion.

2. The ruin brought to view in the second chapter of Joel is greater than in Joel 1:
a. In the first chapter of Joel the ruin wrought by the seven last plagues pertains to things on the ground. Joel 1: 12, 17.
b. In the second chapter the ruin comes to cities, nations, races; even the heavens are affected. Joel 2:9, 6, 11, 13.

3. The greatest agencies of "that day" swing to view in Joel 2:
a. Surely the coming of the Lord could not be signalized alone by a lo­cust invasion, whose swarms were to be swept into the sea (Joel 1:4-6)
b. Neither simply by the assault of heathen nations, who, in this earth, would bring down their crime on their own head. Joel 2: 20; 3: 4."

Joel -Prophet of the Latter Rain SERIES: The Seven Last Plagues

Chapter I.

"Verse 16: Immediately after de­claring that the day of the Lord was upon them, Joel cries: "Is not the meat cut of before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God"
It is serious when joy and gladness are departed from anything. But

when these are gone from the house of God, the worst has come; the Bible no longer breathes hope, and the days of Amos 8: 11-14 are fulfilled, when people wander from sea to sea seeking the word of God.

Verse 17: The hope of the future is gone. The seed is not simply unfruit­ful, but it is rotten, and the barns are not repaired, because it is manifestly useless to do so. "The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered."

Verses 18-20: Here is brought to view the effect of the fourth plague. A comment on these verses, found in "The Great Controversy," page 628, reads as follows: "In the plague that follows, power is given to the sun to scorch men with fire.' . . . The proph­ets thus describe the condition of the earth at this fearful time. . . . ' How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture. . . . The rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.'

"British naturalist John Tyndall (1820-1893) actively sought to turn science away from God, and succeeded beyond his dreams.

This contemporary of Darwin got good press this week on The Conversation by his biographer, Roland Jackson, who is helping digitize 7,000 personal letters for the Tyndall Correspondence Project. On the project’s “About” page, he is introduced as a co-conspirator of Darwin:

John Tyndall (1820-1893) was one of the most influential scientists of the second half of the nineteenth century. The Anglo-Irish successor to Humphry Davy and Michael Faraday as Professor of Natural Philosophy at the Royal Institution (1853-1887), Tyndall was a prominent member of London scientific and social elites. His flamboyant lecturing style, honed by teaching science at private secondary schools, made him a highly sought-after public speaker both in the UK and abroad…. With biologist T. H. Huxley, philosopher Herbert Spencer, botanist J.D. Hooker, and five others, Tyndall was part of the “X-Club”, a group formed in 1864 that sought to direct the course of British science and which actively lobbied for increased government support.

Charles Darwin, without the help of his X-Clubbers, might not have been as influential as he became. Tyndall is best remembered for his address to the British Association in 1874, where he made a sustained argument for materialistic science:

The impregnable position of science may be described in a few words. We claim, and we shall wrest from theology, the entire field of cosmological theory. All schemes and systems which thus infringe upon the domain of science must, in so far as they do this, submit to its control, and relinquish all thought of controlling it.

Heady with new discoveries by Maxwell, Faraday and Pasteur, this new breed of professional investigators saw no need for God in

science any more. Using god-of-the-gaps arguments, Tyndall and his fellow X-Clubbers sought to make science a purely secular enterprise. In addition, they wanted no restrictions on the kinds of subjects scientists could investigate.

To promote this view, the X-Clubbers used journals like Norman Lockyer’s magazine Nature as primary ways to preach the new anti-theistic science.
We live today in Tyndallian science: mentions of God, a Creator, or even intelligent design are met with scorn if not horror. In Tyndall’s day, however, eminent scientists like James Clerk Maxwell were horrified at the prospect of science unleashed from its Christian heritage.

Roland Jackson puts a fresh coat of paint on Tyndall by claiming he is the co-founder of climate science, making him seem trendy. (It would be anachronistic to portray Tyndall, however, as a believer in anthropogenic global warming.)
Jackson says, “Climate science is now the future rather than the past, and it is therefore time to recognise and reinstate Tyndall as a major Irish scientist, mountaineer and public intellectual.” How those three traits qualify one man to speak for theology, however, is dubious.

These days, after a century of Tyndall, all conversation, including The Conversation website which caters to scientists and readers of science, one can see the results of a science liberated from theism and launched into every subject.
Even subjects like theodicy (the problem of evil) and the nature of God are fair game for scientific investigation.
In this anti-Christian piece, Barry Dainton, a professor of philosophy at the University of Liverpool, presents the theory of a deistic god who relegated the creation of beings to lesser gods. This is not so much a theory of intelligent design as it is a neo-Gnostic heresy that presumes to distance God from evil corporeality. But Dainton can’t even get the Christian view of God right, and gives the job of explaining Him to an atheist philosopher, Galen Strawson:

We can, for example, know with certainty that the Christian God does not exist as standardly defined: a being who is omniscient, omnipotent and wholly benevolent. The proof lies in the world, which is full of extraordinary suffering…belief in such a God, however rare, is profoundly immoral. It shows contempt for the reality of human suffering, or indeed any intense suffering.

Dainton and Strawson make this outlandish claim by completely

ignoring the vast corpus of Christian writing on the problem of evil, and ignoring the Biblical teaching of the fall into sin and the work of Jesus Christ (talk about intense suffering to solve the problem of evil). You can read Dainton’s weird idea that living in a simulation or in a world created by fallible deities might solve the problem of evil, but the point here, though, is What on earth is a “science” site doing usurping a theological topic? 
Thus we see what Tyndall and the X-Club have done to science."

In the article they come up with ideas of what they could do with this new knowledge of Light. But think about what the Creator does with it---things we may not even be able to imagine as it helps unify the universe under His Laws of Physics....Let there be light... Genesis 1:3

"Waves propagating through a weak disordered potential with

correlation length larger than the wavelength produce surprisingly long narrow filaments, or branches.
Instead of producing completely random speckle patterns, the slowly varying disordered potential gives rise to focused filaments that divide to form a pattern resembling the branches of a tree.
This phenomenon is called branched flow.
They discovered that when light propagates within the soap film, rather than being scattered, the light forms elongated branches, creating the branched flow phenomenon for light.
“There is nothing more exciting than discovering something new and this is the first demonstration of this phenomenon with light waves,” added co-author Professor Uri Sivan.
“Now, with this observation we can think of a plethora of new ideas,” said senior co-author Professor Mordechai Segev.
“For example,
---using these light branches to control the fluidic flow in liquid,
---or to combine the soap with fluorescent material and cause the branches to become little lasers.
---Or to use the soap membranes as a platform for exploring fundamentals of waves, such as the transitions from ordinary scattering which is always diffusive, to branched flow, and subsequently to Anderson localization.

I have NO idea how or why Karen Bass ended up on Biden's VP short list in the first place. As a congresswoman who praised Marxist Dictator Castro and now we find out she praised the Cult of Scientology---apparently Biden doesn't have a very good vetting process.

"Actress Leah Remini called out Representative Karen Bass, D-Calif., for her past praise of Scientology.

Bass, who is on Joe Biden's VP short list, faced backlash after a 2010 video surfaced featuring the congresswoman speaking at the Church of Scientology, an organization that's been accused by some former members of behaving like a cult.

“The Church of Scientology I know has made a difference, because your creed is a universal creed and one that speaks to all people everywhere,” Bass said in the video obtained by the Daily Caller.
“The words are exciting of your founder, L. Ron Hubbard, in The Creed of the Church of Scientology: that all people of whatever race, color or creed, are created with equal rights,” she said.

Remini, a former Scientologist who has been an outspoken critic of the organization, ripped the congresswoman on Instagram.

“'My views have not changed' says @repkaren bass- I too supported this criminal cult of Scientology at one time," Remini began on Sunday. "But most of us believed we had no option to do our research for fear of being punished for looking -- just as it is in Scientology today. I was raised in it from childhood. What is the excuse for those never in who lend their voice to this criminal cult? Are you denouncing Scientology or are you saying you still think this cult deserves your support? ‪Great that you attempted to distance yourself from this cult now, but is your current stance on Scientology that it is a religion?"

The former "King of Queens" star then laid out damning claims

about the Church of Scientology, arguing it's not a "real church."

She continued, "The victims of Scientology and its fair game tactics deserve better from you. Our country deserves a VP who fights for those who can’t fight for themselves. We need leaders who take a side for the good and decent when it’s not convenient, who are willing to fight the Goliaths of the world."

Remini produced the A&E docuseries “Scientology and the Aftermath,” which featured stories of former members of the Church of Scientology and the lives that were affected by the organization's actions."

"Verse 15: Here is stated the reason for making this serious call to

repent­ance. The day of the Lord is the climax of the prophecy, and this day is declared to be at hand; there­fore the church must know that it is at hand. "Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come." The great signs which pre­cede this impending event, the day of the Lord, Joel brings to view a little farther on.

The reference to the day of the Lord by other prophets should be kept in mind in connection with the study of Joel 1: 15:
1. Zephaniah states that when the day of the Lord is near, it "hasteth greatly." It was slow for some time, but near the end it moves with in­credible velocity. Zeph. 1: 14.
2. It will be ushered in by a great decree (Zeph. 2: 2), and in Revelation we find that this decree announces the close of probation; it is the decree which seals the unjust as forever un­just, and the holy as forever holy, Rev. 22: 11, 12.
3. The day of the Lord is called "a day of wrath." Zeph. 1: 15.
4. In connection with the "day of wrath " a great hail will be poured out (Job 38: 22, 23), but the hail is designated as the ending of the seven last plagues; therefore, the seven last plagues begin when the "day of the Lord " begins."

"Verse 9: The spiritual barrenness of the church is revealed, and the situation implies that the final stroke is near: "The meat offering

and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the Lord; the priests, the Lord's ministers, mourn."
---Since the "meat offering " and "drink offering " are called "a blessing " (Joel 2: 14), their absence at this time shows that God's people are greatly devoid of spiritual power.

Verse 11: The serious condition of the ministry is portrayed: "Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen [appropriate term for evangelists whose duty it is to weed out sin and sinful habits by their preaching]; howl, O ye vinedressers [appropriate term for teachers who extract the wine from the word the true doctrine], for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished."

Verse 13: The priests are not only to be ashamed, as called for in verse eleven, but in view of the unprece­dented, impending calamity, the "min­isters of the altar " are called to pass days and nights in prayer and suppli­cation before God. "Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God."
The "evil servant " (Matt. 24: 48) would not lay aside his delicious programs to do this, and so is appointed a portion with the hypo­crites.

Verse 14: As all the land was to be stricken, a fast and a solemn assembly was also enjoined upon "all the in­habitants of the land." “First, we apologize for and condemn the treatment of a young Central African from the Mbuti people of present-day Democratic Republic of Congo,” the statement, written by Wildlife Conservation Society President and CEO Cristián Samper, said.

The Bronx Zoo “put Ota Benga on display in the zoo’s Monkey House for several days during the week of September 8, 1906 before outrage from local Black ministers quickly brought the disgraceful incident to an end,” the Wednesday letter explained.

In the statement, the WCS announced that Ota Benga’s records will be made available online in an effort to “publicly acknowledge the mistakes of our past,” and has denounced the “eugenics-based, pseudoscientific racism, writings, and philosophies” promoted by two of its founders; Madison Grant and Henry Fairfield Osborn, Sr.

Grant authored the eugenics book The Passing of the Great Race, and Osborn contributed the preface.
The book was used as a defense exhibit for Nazi doctor Karl Brandt, who served as Adolf Hitler’s personal physician and director of the Third Reich’s “euthanasia” program."
