Papal Notes - Rally 'round the Pope?

"Empathy,
love,
respect,
equality:
these are the common denominators which caused the leaders of the world’s major religions to sign a declaration committed to the elimination of slavery and human trafficking by the year 2020 today at the Vatican.
The catalyst behind this meeting, which included Pope Francis, the Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Taqi al-Modarresi, Mata Amritanandamayi (a Hindu spiritual leader), and the venerable Bhikkhuni Thich Nu Chan Khong (representing the Zen Master Zen Thich Nhat Hanh), is the Global Freedom Network, a global religion-based network created this year with the goal of destroying modern slavery in every form, from child labor, prostitution and organ trafficking to any act which violates the dignity or liberty of any single person.
For the first time in history, major Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox Christian authorities, along with leaders of the Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish and Muslim religions, met to sign a shared commitment against modern slavery, which is considered a crime against humanity.

GOSPEL GEM: The Magi

Matthew 2:1-11
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king,
behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
Saying,

Where is he that is born King of the Jews?
for we have seen his star in the east,
and are come to worship him.

When Herod the king had heard these things,
he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together,
he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

And they said unto him,
In Bethlehem of Judaea:
for thus it is written by the prophet,
And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda,
art not the least among the princes of Juda:
for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

Then Herod,
when he had privily called the wise men,
enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said,
Go and search diligently for the young child;
and when ye have found him, bring me word again,
that I may come and worship him also.

When they had heard the king, they departed;
and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east,
went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

When they saw the star,
they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
And when they were come into the house,
they saw the young child with Mary his mother,
and fell down, and worshipped him:
and when they had opened their treasures,
they presented unto him gifts;
gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Micah Adds - But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from the distant past. Micah 5:2 NLT
"It might have been said of the wise men from the East, as afterward of the Roman centurion, "I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel." Matt. 8:10. The priests and elders of Jerusalem were not as ignorant concerning the birth of Christ as they pretended. The report of the angels' visit to the shepherds had been brought to Jerusalem, but the rabbis had treated it as unworthy of their notice. They themselves might have found Jesus, and might have been ready to lead the magi to His birthplace; but instead of this, the wise men came to call their attention to the birth of the Messiah."

IN the NEWS - Rob Bell's Slippery Slope

Mega-Church Pastor Rob Bell, who slipped down the slope of Cheap Grace preaching, has found himself outside of any organized Church & aligned with Oprah, known for her open new-age sentiments. And now, he supports gay marriage & claims he would perform a gay wedding ceremony himself.......So this is what has happened to the Rob Bell of evangelicalism.....he keeps slipping down that slippery slope....one step away from the Word, & U just start sliding.....

"Rob Bell was once the evangelical It Boy, the hipster pastor with the thick-rimmed glasses and the skinny jeans whose best-selling theology was captured in books with names such as "Velvet Elvis" and "Sex God."
By 2006, the Chicago Sun-Times wondered aloud whether the Michigan megachurch pastor could be the next Billy Graham.
And then ................
In 2011, his book "Love Wins" pushed the evangelical envelope on the nature of heaven, hell and salvation. Many dismissed him as a modern-day heretic, unwilling to embrace traditional evangelicals beliefs about the hereafter.
While evangelicalism has always wrestled with the pull of its fundamentalist roots and a desire for a modern-day openness within certain boundaries, for many, Bell had gone too far. "Farewell, Rob Bell," retired megachurch pastor John Piper famously tweeted.
Now, the man who built a church of an estimated 10,000 people isn't even attending an organized church. Instead, he surfs the waves near Hollywood and has teamed up with the goddess of pop theology, Oprah Winfrey.
Exchanging his evangelical bona fides for the blessing of Oprah may yet prove to be his most unforgivable sin, at least in some circles. Which is not to say that Bell cares very much what anyone says these days.
"I never spent a minute wondering whether I'm in or out."
Does he still consider himself an evangelical?
"If we mean Jesus' message of God's revolutionary love for every person, and we can surrender and give our life to acts to loving kindness, then man, sign me up," said Bell, 44.

"The Rob Bell Show" will premiere Dec. 21 on the Oprah Winfrey Network, a one-hour show that features Bell and is co-produced by him. He also recently toured the country with Winfrey on a "Life You Want Weekend."
In many ways, some elements of typical evangelicalism are a good fit for Oprah's lineup of public confession and personal transformation, said Kathryn Lofton, author of "Oprah: The Gospel of an Icon." The difference, however, is that The Church of Oprah incorporates as many religious concepts as possible, while evangelicalism commits to exclusivity.
"I think an interesting way to think about Bell and Oprah here is to
observe how easily she incorporates him into her pantheon of spiritual advisers. She remains, as ever, the determining corporate deity," said Lofton, a professor of religious studies at Yale.
"One way of looking at this is less a merger of two equal powers than it is the acquisition by one large corporation of another small business."
To be sure, Bell still holds his evangelical credentials, with degrees from Wheaton College and Fuller Theological Seminary. And like other leading evangelicals, he's trying to stake out some ground on marriage.
"It seems like marriage is one of the central things in life that needs all the help it can get," Bell said.
For anyone looking for any hints to his theological shift, his new book, "The Zimzum of Love: A New Way of Understanding Marriage," is likely to disappoint. He came out in favor of same-sex marriage in 2013, and few evangelicals seemed surprised.
Bell says he would conduct a same-sex ceremony, and he encourages churches to welcome gay members and allow them to be ordained.
"This is a justice issue," Bell said. "We believe people should not be denied the right to have someone to journey with." CN
Rob Bell vs. Paul....: Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Creation Moment 12/6/2014 - NYT Marxist Evolutionists

"“The sanctification of the rights of individuals and their liberties today by libertarians and Tea Party conservatives is contrary to our evolved human nature as social animals. . . . The thought that it is both rational and natural for each of us to care only for ourselves, our own preservation, and our own achievements is a treacherous fabrication.”

The above quotation is taken from an article written by John Edward Terrell for the opinion section of The New York Times.

The author knows very little about the conservative movement. He is mostly describing Ayn Rand’s Objectivist Philosophy where the evolved individual is sovereign. Those that make up the majority of the Tea Party do not hold to an evolutionary moral/social theory. They believe they are created in the image of God, not that they evolved from a soup of elemental chemicals where rational thought and morality were nowhere to be found.

If evolution is true, there is neither a moral nor rational foundation from which to argue for any social or political position based on reason or morality. “Treachery” is what made us what we are given that “nature, red in tooth and claw” brought us to this point in history. Why all of a sudden has it changed for the evolutionists?

In more simple terms, the writer is regurgitating the false promises of the Marxists in the name of democracy. Communism was sold to the people in the name of the common or general good.
If you want to get a picture of what happens when the individual is absorbed by the collective,

We can’t have that. We’re all equal now – equally poor and starving with typhus spreading but being denied by the State because once the State is empowered bad things no longer happen:

The people who advocate such nonsense have no idea what happens when someone’s idea of an ideal society comes to pass. It all sounds so grand and attainable on paper and when those calling for an egalitarian society march in the streets with signs advocating “Power to the People.” The first thing they learn when the revolution is over is that they’ve lost freedom and power." Papal Notes - "I Give the Orders around Here"

"Pope Francis has displayed a strong hand since he was promoted to the leadership of the Catholic Church. While noted for his compassion, he breaches no nonsense and has had no compunction in dismissing who believes has displayed inappropriate behavior. The Pope has now dismissed the head of his own private army, the Swiss Guard.

At the end of next month, Daniel Anrig will no longer serve as the commandant of the 500-year-old corps. The announcement came in a one-sentence notice in the Vatican's official newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano this week.

According to rumor, Pope Francis found Anrig's manner overly strict and "Teutonic." This would

reflect the Pontiff's decision to make a warmer, more inclusive style of governance.

Pope Francis was reportedly appalled recently to have discovered a Swiss Guard had been standing guard all night after arising that morning from his private apartment.

"Sit down," he told the young guardsman, to which the soldier said: "I can't, it's against orders." The Pope replied: "I give the orders around here," and promptly went off to buy the soldier a hot drink.

The Pope was photographed in October shaking hands with a member of the elite corps, breaking years of protocol which demanded that pontiffs treat the Swiss Guardsmen with aloofness.

Pope Francis reportedly wants the Swiss Guard to be less rigid in its rules, even "less military," according to Il Messagero, a Rome-based daily, in line with the Pope's dislike of security in general.

There is speculation that Anrig may now be replaced by his deputy, Christoph Graf, who is said to have a more paternalistic style of command.

The Swiss Guard was formed in 1506 as a body of mercenary fighters by Pope Julius II. Consisting of around 110 officers and men, the guard is responsible for the Pope's safety and the security of the Vatican in general."
CatholicOnline

The Pope replied: "I give the orders around here," -Yes U do Francis....but Anrig was just trying to do his job & protect you while keeping his men professional & on top of their game. Now, for popularity, u wanna turn the Swiss Guard into the boy scouts. Good luck if ISIS breeches the walls or security of the Vatican someday....

Creation Moment 12/5/2014 - Creation & Judgment?

"The beginning of time fell on the beginning of the night which preceded the 23rd day of October, in the year 4004 B.C." Bishop Ussher (1611)

Interesting that Bishop Ussher calculated from Scripture the creation occurring on that date. For it was on October 22, 1844 A.D. that Christ began His ministry in the Most Holy Place (Judgment).

NOW---it should be noted that as for the date of creation being exactly around 10/23/4004 B.C., we don't know. There really is no way of knowing EXACTLY the date of creation. But it is interesting--these 2 dates. Because wouldn't the night before--on our calendar, be the 22nd?

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

The beginning of the JUDGMENT:

The Final Fracture

“Christianity began in Palestine as a fellowship (a relationship), and then moved to Greece and became a philosophy (way to think). Afterward, it moved on to Rome and became an institution (a place you go) and then to Europe where it became a culture (a way of life). Finally it settled in America where it has become an enterprise (a business).” Sam Pasco

     Those included
gambling (61%),
Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread?
Isaiah 55:2
co-habitation (60%),
Flee fornication.
1 Corinthians 6:18
and sexual fantasies (59%).
That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her

Nearly half of the adult population felt that two other behaviors were morally acceptable:
having an abortion (45%)

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD:

Psalm 127:3
and having a sexual relationship with someone of the opposite sex other than their spouse (42%).

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Exodus 20:14
About one-third of the population gave the stamp of approval to
pornography (38%),
Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter,
Leviticus 18:17

1 Corinthians 6:9,10
The activity that garnered the least support was
using non-prescription drugs (17%).

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,

which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1 Corinthians 6:19
The biggest gaps between Protestants and Catholics were found in relation to cohabitation (deemed morally acceptable by 50% of Protestants and 66% of Catholics), sexual fantasies (51% and 63%, respectively), and gambling (52% and 70%, respectively).

Also noteworthy was the fact that men were more likely than women to deem nine of the ten behaviors to be morally acceptable. (The exception was sexual relations between people of the same gender, which women were slightly more likely to condone.) The most sizeable gaps were related to pornography (men were twice as likely to deem pornography acceptable) and drunkenness."

"Saint Zacharias, English Zachary   (born , San Severino, duchy of Benevento [Italy]—died March 14/22, 752, Rome; feast day March 15), pope from 741 to 752.

He supported the deposition (751–752) of Childeric III, the last Merovingian king, and authorized the Frankish church to anoint Pippin III the Short as king of the Franks. Zacharias’s action in the transference of the royal crown from the Merovingians to the house of Pippin (Carolingians) began a new era for church and state by establishing the Carolingian-papal alliance, which was to be of the greatest significance in future relations between pope and emperor and was of extreme importance to the theorists and controversialists of the Investiture Controversy (11th and 12th centuries). The latter dispute concerned secular rulers’ right to invest bishops and abbots, which right became one of the paramount aspects in the struggle for power between the papacy and the Holy Roman Empire."

SDA News - 8 SDA's killed in Kenya

"Eight Seventh-day Adventists were among 28 bus passengers massacred by militants in Mandera, Kenya on November 22.

According to CNSnews.com, members of a Somalia-based militant group stopped the Nairobi-bound vehicle and questioned passengers to determine whether they were Muslims. Eyewitnesses said those who answered unsatisfactorily were taken aside and shot.

The militant group claimed responsibility for the massacre in a statement. The group called the Christian victims “crusaders” and said the attack was in response to police raids conducted the previous week on mosques in Mombasa, Kenya’s second largest city.

Representatives of the Adventist Church's East-Central Africa Division confirmed that at least eight Adventists were killed in the massacre.

CNSnews also reported the 59-passenger bus was also carrying a number of teachers and health workers who were heading home for the Christmas holidays.

Mandera is the capital of the Mandera District in northeastern Kenya near the borders of Somalia and Ethiopia."

Book Review: The Truth About 666

(short) Book Review: A book that may be of some interest....
(Review by  Edwin de Kock)
Video Clip about book below...

The Truth About 666
by Edwin de Kock
874 Pages    2011
"Ranging over the entire Christian era, The Truth About 666 is a penetrating 874-page book in three volumes for both scholars and lay people concerned about past, present, and future events. This is the most comprehensive work on prophecy and history ever produced by a Seventh-day Adventist, with the assistance of excellent researchers and scholars. About the earliest Christian centuries, it agrees with and defends Ellen G. White’s Great Controversy as well as Uriah Smith’s Daniel and the Revelation, but it adds much that neither of them dealt with.
For instance, the Heruli, Vandals, and Ostrogoths were not really Arians but ancient Sabbathkeepers, who stood in the way of papal supremacy. Therefore, they had to be eliminated. The popes were supported by the kings and emperors of Europe in persecuting those who opposed the

Roman Church, yet for centuries they also struggled to dominate them.
With amazing new discoveries in Latin as well as five other languages, this book vindicates Uriah Smith’s conclusion that the 666 in Rev. 13:18 really refers to vicarius Filii Dei (the vicar of the Son of God). This title first appeared during 753 in a document known as the Donation of Constantine, which was forged by the papacy to claim ecclesiastic supremacy as well as secular domination. The narrative of The Truth About 666 is enlivened by many fascinating episodes. For instance, it shows that the people of Brazil, the largest country in Latin America, speak Portuguese, while the others speak Spanish, due to a papal decision based on that fraudulent manuscript.
This book is a storehouse of brand-new discoveries. One of its treasures is an Appendix with material quoted from more than eighty non-Seventh-day Adventist writers, mostly Protestants who lived and labored before Uriah Smith. They testified to the fact that vicarius Filii Dei was indeed a papal title. Most of them also showed that it had a number value of 666.
Very many Catholic writers also bore witness to the fact that the popes have for more than a thousand years been called the vicars of the Son of God, in Latin as well as the other leading languages of Western Europe.
In its third volume, this book discusses the problem of some Seventh-day Adventist scholars who now say that 666 does not refer to the pope but only means human sinfulness or imperfection. Some of them also claim that the number, the name, and the mark of the Beast are one and the same thing. By implication, there will therefore be no Sunday laws, nor will America cooperate with the papacy in its pursuit of world domination. Such ideas undermine the third angel’s message, suggesting that Seventh-day Adventists are not really the Remnant Church of prophecy. As The Truth About 666 demonstrates, these Seventh-day Adventist scholars have most unfortunately been influenced by writers from outside their church: Sundaykeepers, Protestants and Catholics, as well as others, including Spiritualists."

Here is wisdom.
Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast:

Who is this who darkens counsel

Job 38:2
"The assumption that science does conflict with religion has been around for hundreds of years. … It was [in Florence, Italy] in 1633 that a landmark battle was played out between science and religion. … It was a conflict that ever since has reinforced the view that science and belief in God are at war. On one side, the Catholic Church; on the other, [Galileo’s] revolutionary views on how the solar system works.

Peter Harrison (Prof. of Science and Religion, University of Oxford) correctly refutes this
disinformation, saying it was a conflict between two sciences; a conflict between traditional Aristotelian science and a new science that Galileo is proposing. … Catholicism reacts because its authority is under threat, but that’s not a question to do with science and religion; it’s a question to do with the politics and authority.”" CMI

IN the NEWS - A Ouija Christmas?

"Believe it or not, but the Ouija Board — a game that some believe opens the door to the spirit world — is one of the top trending toys that is “making a comeback this season,” according to Google.
And it’s a development that has some faith leaders warning of potentially disastrous repercussions.
Attributing the recent resurgent rise in popularity of the Ouija Board to the October release of a movie called “Ouija,” Google
reported on its commerce blog that online searches for the board game are up 300 percent since the film reached the big screen.
Church of England vicar, the Rev. Irwin-Clark, who told the Daily Mail that avoiding the Ouija Board and other similar paranormal items is paramount.
“It’s like opening a shutter in one’s soul and letting in the supernatural. There are spiritual realities out there and they can be very negative,” he said. “I would hugely recommend people not to have anything to do with the occult. People find they are having strange dreams, strange things happening to them, even poltergeist activity.”
Of course, many believe that the board is simply a harmless game with no supernatural connection at all, dismissing the previous sentiments as silly or unfounded. That said, warnings abound.
Renewed interest in the game follows the release of “Ouija,” a film with an official description that reads: “A group of friends must confront their most terrifying fears when they awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board.” TheBlaze

IN the NEWS - Gay Mafia strikes in Georgia

"Sometimes these cases involve a state government. In May, the state of Georgia fired public health official Dr. Eric Walsh shortly after hiring him because of sermons Walsh had given during his free time.
Walsh admitted his sermons sometimes do deal with controversial topics.
"Issues around creation, sexual purity, doctrinal issues," Walsh said.
A number of articles in the Georgia press point to gay activists angry over comments Walsh made on homosexuality, sometimes in sermons delivered years ago.
For instance, in his 2006 sermon called "Sex Lies and the Fight for Purity," he quoted scriptures concerning the sexual sinners of Sodom and Gomorrah.
"The scripture in Jude 7 makes clear that 'they gave themselves over to fornication,' which we normally connotate as premarital sex, 'and going after strange flesh,' which if you carry the analogies all the way out would mean homosexuality," Walsh preached in that sermon. "The Bible says that when they did this, God caused them to suffer the vengeance of eternal fire."
After hearing from Walsh's detractors, Georgia officials asked him this May for copies of his sermons.
"So he politely sent them copies of the sermons themselves," said Jeremy Dys, the Liberty Institute senior counsel who's representing Walsh. "They reviewed them and the very next day they fired him."
Walsh told CBN News months later, he's still in shock.
"And kind of blown away at the idea that in the United States you could be a lay pastor and on the weekend deliver messages to congregations and that that could be used against you when you apply for a job or you're offered a job," Walsh said.
"That's not religious liberty in this country," Dys commented. "At the very minimum, I expect religious liberty means we can find sanctuary in our own sanctuary." CBN

"Person to Person Calling"  was a particular kind of telephone call, that I as a telephone operator, performed over and over in the days before unlimited long distance rates.  And this "person to person" calling is what Sarah Young purported to have heard in her best selling book Jesus Calling.

The question for us is:  "Was Jesus Calling?"  Former New Ager, Warren B. Smith, gives us the answer in his provocative little book: "Another Jesus" Calling.  And the answer, Smith most decisively proves, is this, "No, Jesus was not calling!"  And here's why:

Saturating his thirty concerns with scripture, as to why Jesus did not personally speak with Sarah Young, Smith lays out a precise picture providing us with a book of which you can, with confidence, share with skeptical friends or family that have been deceived into devouring Young's channeled

devotional.

Smith first introduces us to Sarah Young, who seems like an unlikely person to have been lured into receiving channeled messages from "another Jesus," having once been a student at Francis Schaeffer's L'Abri, but in spite of  this background this was where Sarah became aware of a lovely presence whom she called "Sweet Jesus."

Smith next introduces us to God Calling- the book Sarah embraced  before she, too, became a listener with pen in hand.  In this section Smith provides numerous scriptures along with each of his ten concerns, as to why God was not calling those two lady listeners; and as to why Sarah was deceived from the get-go when she based her own book on the listener's spiritual dictation.

Each concern is in a separate chapter which is short, but presented in such a clear and compelling manner. Smith's ten concerns from God Calling include these examples:

Concern 1: Channeling a book from "Jesus."  Scripture:  Deuteronomy 18:10-12 warns "a consulter with familiar spirits" is an abomination unto the Lord.
Concern 3: Opening the door to Universalism. Scripture:
John 14:6 states there is but one truth.

Concern 4: Teaching God is "in" everyone.  Scripture:
Includes John 2:24-25 to Ezekiel 28:2 which tell us that God is not in everyone!

Concern 6:  Replacing God's Word with experience.  Scripture: I Timothy 3:16,17 which shows, above all else, scripture supersedes all experience.
Concern 7: Jesus is needing us more than we need him.  Scripture: Acts 17:25 says that Jesus Christ, creator of the universe, who gives us life, breath, and all things certainly doesn't need us more than we need him.
Concern 9:  Connecting Psalm 46:10 to entering the silence has to do with God's rebuke to the nations!
Concern 10:  Equating the New Age with Christianity  Scripture:  Galatians 5:7-9  describes that the "Jesus" of  God Calling asserts that God is "at the centre of every man's being" helping expose the fact that this book is most assuredly New Age-- for this is its core teaching.

Included also at the end are three terrific appendixes which include warnings about deception, the gospel of the true Jesus Christ, and ways to be more discerning.  Following these are Warren Smith's well-documented endnotes and index.  This book, a little gem, is full to the brim with scripture and material you need to know in order to steer clear of deception!"
For if some one comes and preaches another Jesus than the one we preached,
or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received,
or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted,
you submit to it readily enough.

Microwave Popcorn

"Those little bags of popcorn are so convenient to just stick in the microwave, you wouldn’t think for a minute that they could be dangerous to your health, but they are.
First, let’s talk about the bag itself. Proved by Wikipedia, conventional microwave popcorn bags are
lined with a chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid ( PFOA). This is a toxin you can find in Teflon also. According to a recent study at the University of California, PFOA is linked to infertility in women. Numerous studies in lab animals and humans show that exposure to PFOA significantly increases the risk of kidney, bladder, liver, pancreas and testicular cancers.
Now, let’s talk about the contents. Although every manufacturer uses slightly different ingredients, most of them use soybean oil (a GMO product) as well as various preservatives such as propyl gallate, a chemical that is causes stomach problems and skin rashes. Now they don’t actually say they are using GMO corn kernels, but that’s because the government says they don’t have to. Even if they don’t use GMO corn, you can bet they aren’t using organic corn!
Also, applied to the popcorn itself, is a chemical called diacetyl. Use of this chemical caused Conagra Foods to remove it from their brand of popcorn, ACT, because it was causing lung diseases in the workers at their factory." NaturalOn

The What, Why & Because of Sin

The What, Why & Because of Sin

And why dost thou not pardon my transgression,
and take away mine iniquity?

for now shall I sleep in the dust;

and thou shalt seek me in the morning,
but I shall not be.

WHAT?
For the wages of sin is death;
