9 Problems with Theistic Evolution (#5)
"Fifth, if God does not directly involve Himself in history, then how does this affect the existence of Jesus Christ? Is He indeed God come to live incarnate, or was He simply a man in the process of evolution, albeit at its highest peak for His time? Or was He the embodiment of the spirit or force that has been driving creation since the beginning of time?" PD / E.E.Zinke

Names of the Northern Gates

......three gates northward;
one gate of Reuben,
one gate of Judah,
one gate of Levi.
Ezekiel 48:31

Interesting symbolism of these gates grouped together-
Reuben, the firstborn-Christ is the firstborn of Creation (the new creation)
Judah, Christ is the Lion of Judah
Levi, the tribe of the High Priest, - Christ is the High Priest

IN the NEWS - Christian "Love" melts muslim heart

Muslim-Born Man Testifies: 'I've Never Seen This Type of Love Before' After Church Unites to Save His Local Business

"Kansas gas station owner has expressed his gratitude to local church members for their business after they rallied together for weeks to provide him with much needed custom after finding out about his financial woes. The Muslim-born business owner testified that he had "never seen this type of love before" as he reflected on the church's efforts to support him.

For the past five months, construction work in the vicinity of Snack Snack Phillip 66 has kept the station's business eerily quiet, severely cutting into what was a consistent source of revenue for owner Mukhtar Raja and his employees.
Over the period that the construction work was going on for, it is estimated that the business lost close to $100,000 and Raja said that he was on the verge of filing for bankruptcy.
But things changed drastically after an elder at local Cross Points Church read about Raja's dwindling funds in the local paper. He took it upon himself to tell his church about the local businessman's plight, and even connected the man's story to a book the church members were reading about prayer, and suggested that the church try and help him.
The church's leadership team embraced the idea that the church should unite to help the man, rather than try and support him individually.
Several days later, Raja visited the church to personally thank Jones for his congregation's actions. Last week, he also told Jones that he wanted to come to church........ ChristianPost

ARCHAEOLOGY - Tel Maresha

"Tel Maresha, located in the Judean foothills southwest of Jerusalem, exists on two levels—one a
Underground caves of Maresha
typical Hellenistic town; the other a subterranean metropolis of cave complexes. These caves, accommodated many of the everyday building, industrial and even ritual needs of a thriving, multi-ethnic community dominated by the Idumeans, the descendants of the Biblical Edomites.

Mentioned already in the Book of Joshua. Tel Maresha expanded greatly in the third century B.C. and became a well-planned Hellenistic city. The Idumeans and their neighbors outfitted the cave complexes below with a variety of industrial features, including columbaria for raising doves, olive presses for producing oil, and looms and dyeing bins for manufacturing textiles. What is more, the chalk excavated from the Tel Maresha caves supplied a ready source of fresh building material for the city above." Bible History Daily
And Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages:
Joshua 15:44
"Maresha was one of the cities of Judea and is mentioned among the conquests of the ancient Israelites in the Book of Joshua and later in the Books of Chronicles as one of King Rehoboam's fortifications. In the 6th century BC, as result of Zedekiah's rebellion against the Babylonian kingdom and its king Nebuchadnezzar II, the latter occupied the Judean kingdom and sent many of its inhabitants into exile. This marked the end of Maresha as a Jewish (or Judean) city.
Following these events, Edomites who had lived south of the Dead Sea, migrated north to the area. Hence, from the Persian rule and throughout the Hellenistic kingdoms' rule in the region (6th - 1st century BC), Maresha was part of the area known as Idumea.
Maresha emerged as a major Edomite city and with the conquest of the region by Alexander the Great the city was settled by retired Greek soldiers as was then custom. Thus Maresha developed as a Hellenistic city encompassing a multitude of Greek and oriental cultures including Sidonians and Nabataeans." Wikipedia

9 Problems with Theistic Evolution (#4)
" Fourth, theistic evolution downplays the nature of God’s action in history. Does God act directly in history, or is He simply some kind of backdrop to it, never actually become personally involved in events Himself. With the latter view of God, it is understandable that the theistic evolutionists reject or reinterpret the biblical concept of creation. God simply doesn’t or can’t act the way the Bible depicts. Modern humanity knows better." PD / E.E.Zinke

SDA News - IRS Target Carson

"Former Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon Ben Carson reportedly got a surprise visit from the IRS after
he sharply criticized Washington public policy, including Obamacare, at a gathering that included President Barack Obama.
Carson told business leaders and elected officials in Alabama on Monday night that his first-ever "encounter" with the agency followed his fiery speech at a National Prayer Breakfast in February,..Although the speech made him a conservative darling, it apparently earned him a little attention from the taxman as well. The embattled agency came under attack just three months later, in May, when it was accused of singling out tea party groups for scrutiny.
Carson never divulged the outcome of his visit from the IRS.
The scandal-scarred IRS, however, continues to be very much on the minds of Americans, a new poll showed.
According to Rasmussen's survey, most Americans think the IRS broke the law by targeting tea party groups for harassment, but few expect it to be punished."

IN the NEWS - Christians & Aliens Poll

What "Christians" believe in this?
"55 percent of atheists and agnostics surveyed said that they believe in alien life, as compared to only 32 percent of Christians.
Additionally, the polling firm analyzed a fascinating denominational breakdown of Christians. While Baptists (29 percent) and those selecting “other” (27 percent) were the least likely of Jesus-following cohorts to embrace the existence of alien life, Eastern Orthodox Americans were the most likely (41 percent).
On the whole, 37 percent of Americans surveyed answered affirmatively, as opposed to 21 percent who do not believe and 42 percent who remain uncertain. In sum, 5,886 Americans were asked about the existence of alien life." TheBlaze

How could a third of "Christians" believe in aliens (UFO kind)?
We know we are being watched by the rest of God's creation - Paul tells us so as we are a theater/stage for them, the angels bending over the ark of the covenant looking down & watching this great controversy unfolding between God & His opponent, & in the middle of the Bible Daniel refers to those above as the "Watchers".
But these "watchers" aren't the UFO kind, for no creature "out there" needs a spaceship. And no creature out there in paradise with God would want to come hang here with us in the midst of this pain, suffering & death....So NO-there are not aliens flying around our planet.
But who are these "Christians" who believe in aliens? ("Aliens" in our culture generally  mean the UFO type). Who are the "shepherds" of these flocks that would let their congregations be this simple minded, weak minded & feeble minded?

As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock; Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand,... IN the NEWS - Pakistani Church Blast

"PESHAWAR, Pakistan — A suicide attack on a historic church in northwestern Pakistan killed at least 78 people in one of the deadliest attacks on the Christian minority in Pakistan in years.
The attack occurred as worshipers left All Saints Church in the old quarter of the regional capital, Peshawar, after a service on Sunday morning. Up to 600 people had attended and were leaving to receive free food being distributed on the lawn outside when two explosions ripped through the crowd. “As soon as the service finished and the food was being distributed, all of a sudden we heard
one explosion, followed by another,” said Azim Ghori, a witness.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, who arrived in Peshawar on Sunday evening, said that 78 people had been killed, including 34 women and 7 children. “Such an attack on women and children is against humanity,” he said.Akhtar Ali Shah, the home secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, said that more than 100 people had been wounded. Mr. Khan said that 37 of those were children.
The dead included two Muslim police officers who had been posted outside the church. Witnesses reported scenes of mayhem as rescue workers ferried victims from the church, which was scattered with body parts, shrapnel and bloodied clothing." NYT

"Second, theistic evolution doubts God’s personal nature. Is God personal, or is He just a pervasive influence or spirit, or perhaps even an impersonal energy that does not relate to us at all? If indeed God created us for relationship, at what point did human beings become suited for a relationship with God, and why did it take Him so long to bring it about? By contrast, the Bible asserts that God created humankind for personal relationship with Him and that the plan of salvation seeks to restore that original relationship." PD / E.E.Zinke

IN the NEWS - Sorry Bill....

The following script is from "Killing Jesus" which aired on Sept. 29, 2013. (60 Minutes/CBS)

"Bill O'Reilly has reigned as the king of cable TV news for more than a decade. But it's his new role as the author of history books that has also made him a publishing powerhouse. His last two books,
"Killing Lincoln" and "Killing Kennedy," sold more than 5 million copies. And now O'Reilly is adding to his opus with a new book -- that's likely to be his most popular and divisive of all -- called: "Killing Jesus."
Although he's a devout Catholic, he didn't write a religious book. He doesn't call Jesus "the Son of God" or "the Messiah." O'Reilly admits that some of his facts directly contradict the Bible and he stands by them. And he also tells us his inspiration for "Killing Jesus" is nothing short of divine.
Bill O'Reilly: All of the ideas come to me in the middle of the night. And one night, I just woke up and I went, "Killing Jesus." And I believe because I'm a Catholic that comes from the Holy Spirit. My inspiration comes from that."
Being chosen pays well -- more than $10 million for this book -- almost unheard of in publishing.
Bill O'Reilly: That's the crux of the "Killing Jesus" theme, is that there was a reason he was executed. Not that he was saying he was God. Droves of people said they were God. But now when you interrupt a money flow -- now you're into territory where they gotta get rid of him.

Norah O'Donnell: You include two quotes from Jesus on the cross, but not the most famous one: "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." Why not?
Bill O'Reilly: We don't put in things that we don't think happened.
Norah O'Donnell: How do you know?
Bill O'Reilly: Because you couldn't say something like that, audibly that people would hear. He, you die on a cross from being suffocated. That your lungs can't take in anymore air. You can hardly breathe. We believe Jesus said that, but we don't believe he said it on the cross, 'cause nobody could've heard it.

Norah O'Donnell: So is this the Gospel according to Bill?

Bill O'Reilly: This is best available evidence according to Bill. We believe that the oral history in the Bible is largely accurate but we're not taking it literally."

Sorry Bill,....Not "buying" it.....
For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

Monday, Sep 30, 2013 (Glenn Beck Program)

"On radio this morning, Bill O’Reilly, author of the recently released Killing Jesus, joined Glenn to talk about his new book. Bill made headlines this morning for an interview he did with CBS’s Norah O’Donnell on last night’s 60 Minutes,.....
In discussing his new book, Bill explained he felt a calling to write the book. “I believe, because I’m a Catholic, that comes from the Holy Spirit,” he said of the motivation and idea to write the book.
“My inspiration comes from that and so I wrote ‘Killing Jesus,’ because I think I was directed to write that.”
O’Donnell responded by noting that the host seemed to be distinguishing himself as especially important. “You are suggesting that you’re the chosen one, Bill,” she quipped. Bill reiterated that he’s not the “chosen one,” but that he is someone who has been given gifts that he uses for good.
“Look, I set everybody straight. That was a provocative question and I set her straight,” Bill said on radio this morning. “Everybody’s inspired to do good and everybody’s tempted to do evil and then you select.”
Despite his Catholic faith, Bill explained that this book is not at all religious. Instead, it is a historical look at the life and death of Jesus.
"Now, I don’t say in Killing Jesus he was performing miracles because how would I know? No doctor there. I can’t report that as a historian. What I can report is that the Romans and the Sanhedrin, the Jewish Sanhedrin were receiving reports of these miraculous healings, which would have driven crowds like that. That’s the only explanation. Jesus was doing something that got the word out and these thousands of people were converging on where they thought he was going to be. Just to see him or touch his robe. And that had never happened before. And I don’t think it’s ever happened since.”

P.S.
Sounds like Bill was casting doubts on the historicity of Scripture on the more liberal 60 Minutes and leaving the door open for more wiggleroom in the possibility of the Biblical narrative on the more conservative Glenn Beck program.
Regardless, his tone about the Bible was clearly different on each show geared towards 2 differing audiences....(Go back & compare the underlined sections-on the liberal 60 Minutes he closes the door on the Biblical account itself-while on the Conservative Glenn Beck program he leaves the door open for believing the Gospel account - see what he is doing to sell a book)

Sorry Bill...........Still NOT "Buying" it.....

Creation Moment 10/2/2013 - 9 Problems with Theistic Evolution (#1)

9 Problems with Theistic Evolution (#1)
"First, it questions His intelligence, power, and love. If God is all-knowing and all-powerful, is He truly a God of love? Would a God of love drag His creation through such a long process of evolution—of survival of the fittest finally to bring forth humanity? If God is indeed a God of love, the divine method of creation propounded by theistic evolution would appear to call either God’s intelligence or power into question. Either He is intelligent, but not very powerful, or powerful, but not very intelligent—otherwise He would have created in a more loving manner. It does not seem possible to accept theistic evolution and at the same time also to uphold all three of the classic properties of God’s nature: God’s infinite love, intelligence, and power. Unfortunately, only some combination of two of the three qualities can coincide with theistic evolution." PD / E.E.Zinke

The Nonsense of Theistic Evolution

Iamblichus & State of the Dead

Iamblichus was highly influential on Julian the Apostate (Emperor 361-363) who relapsed into paganism. Julian was the last pagan emperor of the empire & tried to organize a new pagan religion that would be a synthesis of Neo-Platonism and a replacement for Christianity.

Part of this Neo-Platonic movement by Iamblichus centered on the "soul". It was focused the ascent of the "soul" at death. Throughout even the middle ages, Neo-Platonic thinking had a major impact on Christian thought. It stretches clear back to Julian the Apostate. Iamblichus just didn't form a new pagan religion-it was modeled after competing Christianity with a sacramental structure.

---Back up a few years into the first "Christian" emperor, Constantine, and the mixing of Christianity & paganism.
---Now bring in a few years later Julian the Apostate & the synthesis of Iamblichus
---Then move forward. The "Christian" Church has been severely hammered by compromise that it has never fully shaken off.....

So for those who were already following both Platonic thought on the state-of-the-dead (immortality of the soul) as the influential church father Tertullian (160-225 AD) did, it was one more push by the blending under Julian the Apostate.

Iamblichus main theme was the immortality of the soul by blending Chaldean, Hermetic & Orphic writings. From the Hermetic writings one can see it's influence over Iamblichus with the following Platonic view "O son, how many bodies have we to pass through, how many bands of demons, through how many series of repetitions and cycles of the stars, before we hasten to the One alone? The Way Of Hermes p.33.

You can see what was creeping into Christianity as it relates to the state-of-the-dead. During Constantine there was the organizing of the realm and its religion by Lactantius (whose job was to find a way to make Christianity more appealing to pagans) where Platonism had crept in. Then under Julian the Apostate & the blending of ideas of  Iamblichus (whose thought was influential in the attempt to make a paganism that resembled Christianity) you can see what emerged-a paganistic Christianity.

Here you can read some of this synthesis and psycho-babel of Iamblichus

IN the NEWS - French Sunday

A French debate: To shop or not to shop on Sunday?
"A pair of court rulings last week added new fire to a French debate over whether shops should be open on Sundays. Many employers say they – and the economy – could use the boost in business, while others defend the idea of a day devoted to leisure.
Two recent court decisions have reignited a longstanding debate about whether shops in France should remain open on Sundays.
On September 26, DIY stores Castorama and Leroy Merlin were ordered to close 15 Paris-area locations on Sundays following a complaint by rival Bricorama, which had been instructed last November to keep its own regional stores closed on Sundays after being sued by a labour union.
The rulings have added new fire to the fight between those who favour deregulation in order to spur a French economy barely out of recession and traditionalists who defend the importance of balancing work with leisure time.
But Sunday has been legally protected as a day of rest since 1906, though there are exceptions for fishmongers, florists and other types of commerce, including those in designated tourist areas like Paris’s Montmartre.
Businesses that violate the law by operating on Sunday without authorisation face fines of up to  ($8,000).
Those who defend the notion of Sunday as largely commerce-free – including unions that have fought to keep France’s 35-hour work week, as well as Catholic churches – argue that it is important to uphold the tradition of one day a week devoted to rest and relaxation." France24InternationalNews

IN the NEWS - Attempt at Religious Freedom Preservation

"Rep. Raúl Labrador (R-Idaho) is sponsoring a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives that would guarantee that no person or group could lose their tax exempt status for affirming traditional marriage, or opposing the redefinition of marriage.
The Marriage and Religious Freedom Act has, at the time of this publication, 75 co-sponsors. Most of them are Republican, but at least two Democrats, Rep. Mike McIntyre (D-N.C.) and Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.), are also co-sponsoring the bill.
If enacted, no individual or institution could lose tax-exempt status for believing or advocating that marriage should only be between one man and one woman. Many religious institutions in the United States are non-profits and have a tax-exempt status under the U.S. tax code.
Due to recent events, there has been growing concern among religious freedom advocates along with the redefinition of marriage to include same-sex couples in some states. Those who provide wedding services, for instance, have been denied the right to decline working at same-sex weddings, and some religious groups have been denied the right to prefer families with both a husband and a wife for adoption services.
There have also been growing concerns about the abuse of federal power within the Internal Revenue Service, the agency responsible for granting tax-exempt status. In a scandal still under investigation, the IRS reportedly targeted Tea Party, pro-life and conservative religious groups for additional scrutiny and harassment." ChristianPost

Creation Moment 10/1/2013 - Kitty Cat Relations

"Jong Bhak, a geneticist from the Personal Genomics Institute of South Korea, led a team of researchers in unlocking the genome of tigers, snow leopards and lions.  One of the surprising results they found is that the big cats share 95.6% of their DNA with your small lovable pet cat.
Furthermore, they identified several mutations in snow leopards that help them survive in the high altitudes of their mountain homes.  There are two genes allow the leopards to live in lower than normal oxygen levels than you find at high altitudes.
They also identified several genes that alter the metabolic pathways that are associated with protein digestion.  These genes allow the big cats to be the carnivorous predators they are today.  They claimed that these genes that allow tigers, lions and snow leopards to digest meat evolved over tens of millions of years.
The researchers actually provided evidence that supports the biblical account of creation and the curse, only they don’t realize it.
The similarity between the genomes of the big cats and our domesticated house cats led the researchers to believe that they had a common ancestor.  Genesis 1 tells us that God created every animal according to their kind.  Most creationists today believe that there was one, perhaps 2 original created cat kinds.  The research provides evidence for one created cat kind and that all of the cats we have in the world today, large, medium and small, came from that created kind.  As cats spread throughout the earth, both before and after the Flood, they would have resulted in different populations being genetically isolated from each other, causing the loss and preservation of different traits.  Over time and the loss of more genetic traits, we end up with big cats, medium sized cats and small cats.
Notice that the researchers believe that the big cats evolved the mutations that allow them to eat and digest meat and nothing else.  This must mean that prior to the mutations; the big cats could not easily eat and digest meat, which means that they must have started out as vegetarians.  The biblical account of creation says that all animals originally ate plants, fruits and seeds.  That also means that their sharp teeth would have been designed to eat some forms of plants.
Third, we know that when Adam sinned, everything that God created became cursed.  Death and disease entered a once perfect creation.  The ground now brought forth thorns and thistles.  Many creationists believe that when God cursed all of creation that he caused certain changes in plants and animals including some animals that now became carnivores.  The sharp teeth that once ripped open tough vegetation were now used to rip the flesh from other animals.  It’s just possible that the mutations discovered by the researchers occurred at the time of the Curse."
