Chiasm of the Sanctuary: Leviticus

Blotting Out of Sin & Latter Rain

"The First Blotting Out of Sin 

This takes place before the judgment when sins are re moved from the sinner to the heavenly sanctuary. 

*In this case the gift of the Holy Spirit or Latter Rain power cannot

come unless the sins have been removed from the sinner and sent beforehand to judgment. 

The Second Blotting Out of Sin 

This takes place after the judgment when sins are removed from the sanctuary to the scapegoat. 

*In this case the Latter Rain power must come before the removal of the sins from the heavenly sanctuary to the scape goat for eternal destruction."

Daniel 8:14 Means what it says

"Hebrews 8:5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things. His words mean simply this: 

--In Heaven there is a sanctuary where Christ ministers, 

--and that sanctuary has two holies, 

--and two distinct ministrations, as truly as the earthly sanctuary had. 

If his words do not mean this, 

they have no meaning at all. 

How natural, then, the conclusion, that as the Jewish priests ministered daily in connection with the holy place of the sanctuary, and on the tenth day of the seventh month, at the close of their yearly round of service, the high priest entered the most holy place to make atonement for the cleansing of the sanctuary, so Christ ministered in connection with the holy place of the heavenly sanctuary from the time of His ascension to the ending of the 2300 days of Daniel 8, in 1844, when on the tenth day of the seventh month of that year He entered the most holy place of the heavenly tabernacle to make a special atonement for the blotting out of the sins of His people, or, which is the same thing, for the cleansing of the sanctuary.

All incense from earthly tabernacles must be moist with the cleansing drops of the blood of Christ. 

He holds before the Father the censer of His own merits, in which there is no taint of earthly corruption. 

He gathers into this censer the prayers, the praise, and the confessions of His people, and with these He puts His own spotless righteousness. 

Then, perfumed with the merits of Christ’s propitiation, the incense comes up before God wholly and entirely acceptable. Then gracious answers are returned.”

The Shadow Cast Upon Earth

Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle... Hebrews 8:5

"The simple system of sacrifices instituted by the Lord in the

beginning to symbolize, or prefigure, Christ, was almost totally lost sight of during the bondage of the children of Israel in Egypt. 

Upon their return to Canaan, Moses, by divine direction, gave them a more elaborate system, designated in the Scriptures as the sanctuary and its services.
.....but if he forsakes the Lord and turns back into the world, that part of his past life which, while he was faithful, was covered Christ's righteousness, appears open and uncovered on the books of heaven; for he himself has withdrawn from Christ, and must meet the record of his entire life in the judgment. be uncovered if the who confesses them.

This is very forcefully taught in the parable of the unmerciful servant, who, after he had been forgiven his entire debt, dealt harshly with his debtors, and the Lord then required him to pay all that had been once forgiven him."

Symbolic

God's Mercy on Display in the Flour Offering

A Walk Through the 3 Sanctuary Courts

INTRO:

We have such an high priest,

Comparing the 2 Sanctuaries

 "The heavenly Sanctuary is like the earthly in that,

(1.) It has a service of priesthood. Heb.8:1-5; 9:24; 10:19-21; 6:19-20.

(2.) It has two holy places. Heb.9:24; compare Ex.26:31-35, with Rev.1:12; 4:1,2,5; 11:19.
(3.) It is cleansed. Dan.8:14;2  (with blood:) Heb.9:11,12,23,24.
(4.) It contains the law, (covenant or testament.) Ex.25:21,22; 26:33,34; 40:20,21; 1Kings 8:6-9; Heb.9:1-4; Rev.11:19.
(5.) When the glory of the Lord fills the tabernacle, or temple, there is no ministration. Ex.40:34,35; 1Kings 8:10,11; Rev.15:8.

(6.)The Most Holy Place was entered only on the day of atonement. Lev.16:2,12-15,29,30; Heb.9:7; Rev.11:19.
Note:- Making the atonement, and cleansing the sanctuary are identical.
From Rev.15:8, we learn that when the plagues, threatened in the Third Angel's Message, [Rev.14:9-11,] and described in Chap. 16, are poured out, there will be no ministration: therefore they are "poured out without mixture," as the mediation of Christ will then have ceased, and mercy will no more be offered to sinners."

Inside the Holy of Holies

"The command was communicated to Moses while in the mount with God, "Let them make Me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them;" and full directions were given for the construction of the tabernacle. 

Beyond the inner veil was the holy of holies, where centered the symbolic service of atonement and intercession, and which formed the connecting link between heaven and earth. 

In this apartment was the ark, a chest of acacia wood, overlaid within and without with gold, and having a crown of gold about the top. It was made as a depository for the tables of stone, upon which God Himself had inscribed the Ten Commandments. 

--Hence it was called the ark of God's testament, or the ark of the covenant, since the Ten Commandments were the basis of the covenant made between God and Israel.
The cover of the sacred chest was called the mercy seat. This was

wrought of one solid piece of gold, and was surmounted by golden cherubim, one standing on each end. One wing of each angel was stretched forth on high, while the other was folded over the body (see Ezekiel 1:11 Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.) in token of reverence and humility. 

The position of the cherubim, with their faces turned toward each other, and looking reverently downward toward the ark, represented the reverence with which the heavenly host regard the law of God and their interest in the plan of redemption."

Earthly Sanctuary:
1) Outer Court was open for all to see (where the sacrifice and ceremonial washing in the Brazen laver was).
2)Inner Court and Most Holy Place were not open for the non-priests to see (where the daily ministration and Atonement/Judgment took place).

Heavenly Sanctuary:
1) The Outer Court took place on earth for humans to witness at the

time (His Baptism and Sacrifice on the Cross).
2) The Inner Court and Most Holy Place is not visible to us in Heaven currently (where Christ's daily High Priestly ministry occurs and the literal Judgment).

Horror of Great Darkness Lifted

"Tis great truth of the priesthood, ministry, and sanctuary of Christianity is not to be hid forever from the eyes of the church and the world. 

The mystery of iniquity arose and so hid from the world the mystery

INIQUITY

of God that all the world followed it wondering. Revelation 13:3-4. 

But the day comes when the mystery of iniquity shall be exposed, and the mystery of God in its own truth and purity shall shine forth once more, never more to be hid, but to accomplish its great purpose and be completely finished. 

For it is written: Revelation 10:7 In the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as He has declared to His servants the prophets. 

In the days of Christ and His apostles, the mystery of God was revealed in a fulness never before known and was preached “to all nations for the obedience of faith.” Romans 16:25-26. 

From the beginning of the world unto that time this mystery had “been hid in God” (Ephesians 3:9), had “been hid from ages and from generations”, but was then “made manifest to His saints” (Colossians 1:26) to whom Colossians 1:27 ...God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 

28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

But even at that same time, in the very days of the apostles, the mystery of iniquity did “already work.” 2 Thessalonians 2:7. 

And it continued to work until it gained world-power and supremacy and even power over the saints, the times, and the law of the Most

High—standing up against the Prince of princes, magnifying itself even to the Prince of the host, putting itself in the place of worship of God, and passing itself of for God. 

And thus, again, but not this time in God, the mystery of God was “hid from ages and from generations.” 

But now, again, in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, even now, the mystery of God which has again been hid from ages and generations, is made manifest to His saints to whom now: Colossians 1:27 ...God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 

28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. 

For not only did Daniel see the rise of this little horn and see it magnify itself “even to the Prince of the host” (Daniel 8:11), and “stand up against the Prince of princes” (Daniel 8:25), and cast
down to the ground His truth and His sanctuary and stamp upon them (Daniel 8:10-12), but he also, and in the same vision, saw the truth and the sanctuary of Christ delivered from this little horn power, rescued from its blasphemous stamping, lifted up from the earth and exalted to the heaven where it belongs. 

And it was in this part of the transactions in the vision that the heavenly ones seemed to be most interested; for, says Daniel: 

Daniel 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spoke, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice [the continual service], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden underfoot? 

14 And He said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. 

Having thus directed the prophet’s attention to the vision, the angel

begins immediately to discuss the time mentioned in the vision—the very part of the vision which, because of Daniel’s fainting, had been left unexplained. Thus he says: 24 Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city. 

The word “determined” signifies “limited,” “restricted within bounds,” “to mark of and fix the bounds.”

“Seventy weeks,” or four hundred and ninety of these days are limited and restricted to the Jews and Jerusalem, and this also marks the limitation of the Jews and Jerusalem as God’s special people and city. 

For these are prophetic days, in which each day is a year: the seventy weeks, or the four hundred and ninety days, thus making four hundred and ninety years of the two thousand and three hundred days which are two thousand and three hundred years. 

--The beginning of the four hundred and ninety years is thus also the beginning of the two thousand and three hundred years.

The commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem here referred to

went forth in the year 457 B.C. and is recorded in the seventh chapter of Ezra. The decree was issued from Babylon and was addressed, frst, to Ezra, empowering him to leave Babylon and to take with him such people and materials as were supplied for the work of restoring Jerusalem and the worship of God therein, and secondly “to all the treasurers which are beyond the river” Euphrates, directing them to supply whatever was required by Ezra for the carrying on of the work.

It was the fifth month of the year when Ezra reached Jerusalem, so that about half the year 457 B.C. was gone, which would give about the year 456½ as the time of the beginning of the four hundred and ninety years and the two thousand and three hundred years. From that time four hundred and eighty-three years were to reach “to the Messiah the Prince,” which would reach twenty-six and one-half years into the Christian era or into the year A.D. 27, which is the very year of Christ’s appearance as the Messiah in His public ministry, when He was baptized in Jordan and anointed with the Holy Ghost. Mark 7:9-11; Mathew 3:13-17. 

After this He, the Messiah, was to “confirm the covenant” “for one week”—the remaining week of the seventy. 

--But in the midst of that week, He would “cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease” by the sacrifice of Himself on the cross. 

In the midst of the week would be at the end of three and a half of the seven years from the fall of A. D. 27. This gives the date the spring of A.D. 31, the very time when the Savior was crucified, and thus by the sacrifice of Himself—the only sacrifice for sins—forever caused

the sacrifice and the oblation to cease. 

--Then the veil of the earthly temple “was rent in twain from the top to the bottom” (Mathew 27:51; Mark 15:38) showing that the service of God there was ended and the earthly house was desolate. There was yet the last half of the seventieth week remaining as the limit of the time of special favor to the Jews and Jerusalem. This half of the week, beginning in the spring of A.D. 31, extended to the fall of A.D. 34. In that time.

But when this time was expired and the Jews had confrmed themselves in the rejection of the Messiah and His gospel, then was their decision accepted and under the leadership of both Peter and Paul the door of faith was opened fully to the Gentiles, to whom pertains the remaining portion of the two thousand and three hundred years.

And at that time, in Daniel 8:14, “then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.” In 1844 also was the very time of “the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound” and when “the mystery of God should be fnished, as He has declared to His servants the prophets.” 

At that time there would be broken up

the horror of great darkness 

by which the mystery of iniquity had hid from ages and generations the mystery of God.

At that time the transcendent truth of the priesthood and ministry of Christ would be rescued from the oblivion to which the abomination and transgression of desolation had consigned it and would once more and forever stand in its true and heavenly place in the faith of the church, accomplishing in every true believer that perfection which is the eternal purpose of God which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Purpose of the Sanctuary SIMPLIFIED

"Hebrews Chap. ix,11,12. “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” 

We have now learned that Christ is our great High Priest, and the minister of the heavenly Sanctuary; that He offers His own blood instead of the blood of goats and calves which the priests offered in the earthly ministration, and the earthly ministration is typical of the heavenly, as Paul says, [Heb.viii,5,] “Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things.” 

Between them there was this difference: the earthly priests were many, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death; [Heb.vii,23;] and their ministration was many times repeated, one round being completed every year; but the priesthood of Christ is an unchangeable priesthood; [Heb.vii,24;] for He is made a priest forever after the order of Melchisedec; (verse 21;) 

On Him was laid the iniquity of us all, [Isa.liii,6,] and He bare our sins in His own body on the tree. 1Pet.ii,24. 

In this connection study carefully Hebrews, chapters, vii-x. Christ, then, is the great antitype of the offerings connected with the typical sanctuary; and he who brought his victim to the door of the tabernacle, to be then slain on account of his transgression, through that sacrifice pointed to “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” 

Thus, was instituted that system of types and shadows that through them the people of that dispensation might lay hold on the merits of a coming Savior. 

--and that we, while there is now no sanctuary on earth with its ministration carried on before us, might look back upon these, and thus learn the work of the heavenly Sanctuary where our great High Priest is now ministering for us." Uriah Smith

From Symbolism to Reality

At the cross began the real thing with the sacrifice of the Lamb of God on earth and shifting to the heavenly Sanctuary where Christ as our High Priest carries out the Daily Ministration. 

It ends with a real DAY OF ATONEMENT, Judgment and Cleansing of the Sanctuary from sins. 

Christ serves as our Mediator in the Judgment as the earthly high priest did in the earthly sanctuary on the DAY OF ATONEMENT....we are given a starting point in history:
And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; (a day for a year in Prophecy) then shall the sanctuary be cleansed....And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling...Daniel 8:14/ Hebrews 12:24
