ARCHAEOLOGY: Isaiah Signiture?

So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

"Archaeologists say they have a "fantastic discovery" of a 2,700-year-old clay seal found in Jerusalem that possibly belonged to Isaiah, which would make it the first piece of evidence concerning the prophet found outside the Bible.

Author and archaeologist Eilat Mazar wrote in an article in Biblical Archaeology Review on Wednesday titled "Is This the Prophet Isaiah's Signature?" that that ancient Hebrew script found on a half-inch oval of clay, dating back to the eighth century B.C., could potentially have belonged to Isaiah the prophet.
National Geographic added that if the lettering on the seal is correct, it would be the first known link to Isaiah outside the Bible.
Mazar noted that the seal impression was found next to one of King Hezekiah, another biblical figure.

"It would not be the first time that seal impressions of two biblical personas, mentioned in the same verse in the Bible, were found in an archaeological context," she wrote.

"Finding this bulla leads us to consider the personality and the proximity of the prophet Isaiah as one of the closest advisors to King Hezekiah — not only with regard to the events of his time, but also in assessing them from an informed perspective and foreseeing their influence over future events."

Creation Moment 2/28/2018 - Creator's Mysterious Creation

"A team of physicists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and elsewhere has created a new kind of photonic matter that could enable quantum computing with particles of light.
Bound states of massive particles, such as nuclei, atoms, or molecules, constitute the bulk of the visible world around us.

By contrast, individual particles of light called photons typically only interact weakly.
MIT Professor Vladan Vuletic and colleagues have now demonstrated that photons can indeed be made to interact — an accomplishment that could open a path toward using photons in quantum computing, if not in light sabers.
“Photons can travel very fast over long distances, and people have been using light to transmit information, such as in optical fibers,” Professor Vuletic said.
“If photons can influence one another, then if you can entangle these photons, and we’ve done that, you can use them to distribute quantum information in an interesting and useful way.”
the researchers report that they have observed groups of three photons interacting and, in effect, sticking together to form a completely new kind of photonic matter.
In controlled experiments, they found that when they shone a very weak laser beam through a dense cloud of ultracold rubidium atoms, rather than exiting the cloud as single, randomly spaced photons, the photons bound together in pairs or triplets, suggesting some kind of interaction — in this case, attraction — taking place among them.
“Our results demonstrate that photons can indeed attract, or entangle each other,” Professor Vuletic said.
“If they can be made to interact in other ways, photons may be harnessed to perform extremely fast, incredibly complex quantum computations.” SciNews

SDA News - One Project Ends on Sad Note

This pretty much sums up why the one project should cease....a cesspool of rebellion

"....of the final meeting of the One Project in San Diego. 

There were a number of testimonies given by attendees.  Many testimonies were given in favor of women’s ordination.  One testimony notably compared the Church to Soviet Russia, saying that “in the same way Russia was held hostage by the Soviet government, we are being held hostage by the Church.”  

Inspiration has warned us that this time would come:

Divisions will come in the church. Two parties will be developed. The wheat and tares grow up together for the harvest (Selected Messages, Vol. 2, p. 114).

Several speakers presented.  Tim Gillespie, pastor of the Crosswalk Church near Loma Linda, and one of the key thought leaders of T1P, gave further clarity to the direction of T1P with a presentation entitled “Designing a New Adventism.”  He spoke at length about the new Star Wars movie.  While

he was speaking, he was drinking coffee and mocked Adventists who don't drink coffee and who are vegetarians.  Here he interjected that his church has a large coffee bar.

Gillespie then promoted a Global Resource Collective (GRC) which is a group of churches that are signing up to be part of an expanding network of T1P (see list at the end).  Undoubtedly these churches of the GRC are the “fruit” of T1P and have designs on spreading this new Adventism.  An Adventism that promotes “addition” by acceptance of LGBTQ+ lifestyle, meat-eating, coffee drinking and a subtraction from present truth such as lack of affirmation of the Spirit of Prophecy and denial of the Scriptural teachings on homosexuality.

Alex Bryan, the senior pastor of Walla Walla University Church made an appeal for revival and reformation pertaining to doctrine.  He stated:

“This afternoon I don’t wish you just to muse but to do — to consider the active work of reformation.  I don’t have in mind reform of church governance, nor church financial reform or structural reform and not evangelistic reform, educational reform or liturgical renewal.  Though all these may be needed, THE REFORM THAT I WOULD LIKE TO OFFER IS DEEPER.  IT IS MORE FOUNDATIONAL. I WANT TO PROPOSE THE POSSIBILITY OF DOCTRINAL REFORM!”

While Bryan claimed to be pro-doctrine and in favor of the Fundamental Beliefs, he said that it is time to surpass the teachings of the past and present.

The final presentation was given by Japhet De Oliveira, co-founder of T1P and Senior Pastor of the Boulder, Colorado Adventist church.  He gave the history on how T1P began with the founders meeting in a hotel room.  The most significant portion of his talk was when he began to repeat the mantra-like phrase “silent in Jesus.”  He talked about a summit meeting in February 2019 where they are going to “learn what it means to be silent in Jesus.  

If you think talking about Jesus All started a rumble then this is really going to cause a rumble.  When you are silent in Jesus He leads… I am asking you now to be fully invested in listening in Jesus and see what happens when you are silent in Jesus.

What does it mean to be silent in Jesus? The summit in February 2019 is apparently an attempt to bring in mysticism and spiritualistic Catholic worship practices to lead Adventism down the broad road of ecumenism.  

Dilys Brooks, Associate Chaplain at Loma Linda University, identified herself as a “Daughter of Thunder” in comparison to the Sons of Thunder, James and John.  She then quoted from the movie Avengers where the Hulk says that he’s always angry.  She says “Yes, that’s me.  I’m always angry.”
   She also mentioned that one of her favorite classes at the seminary was a class on spiritual formation that taught the students to be reflective (Spiritual Formation is one of the mystical disciplines promoted by the Emerging Church movement).
During this presentation she even stated “We need to stop looking at the signs of the times.”
Her presentation came to a thunderous social justice close as she railed against racism and gender bias within the church and mistreatment and a lack of acceptance of immigrants and LGBTQ+ individuals. 
The presentation was striking its spirit of rebellion, which indicates an unconverted heart.

....a particularly disturbing presentation was given by Chris Oberg, “Senior Pastor” of the La Sierra University Church.  She related her experience while attending a conference about 10 years ago where Brian McLaren, a guiding emergent thought leader (and founder of ConvergenceUS) was a primary speaker.  In this meeting she sat with clergy from other denominations and identified herself as a Seventh-day Adventist.  The others expressed their hope that Adventists would begin to ordain women.  As she explained the difference between commissioning and ordaining, she was told by a Pentecostal minister that the Adventist church was in a mess.  She then made a disturbing statement.  She said that until the church recognizes that heterosexism is related to patriarchy, misogyny, sexism, and bigotry, we will continue to drink from the same poisonous well. Oberg revealed at least some of the influence behind her ideas by quoting Margaret Atwood, a known spiritualist, to make her points.

When the Confusion Began

"The New Zealand-based Indian Newslink site reported that an Adventist pastor in Bangkok,

Thailand represented the denomination at a January 19 interfaith meeting organized by a UN-affiliated NGO called Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL). The event emphasized shared values contained within religious scriptures of different faiths. At the event, Adventist Pastor Virendra Arora addressed the teachings of Jesus saying, “The founder of religion should not teach from his own knowledge but on the basis of that which the person has received from heaven.”

Q: Which "knowledge" from which "heaven" pastor?
Q: WHY is he and/or the Church engaged in an ecumenical event?
Q: How much MONEY WAS WASTED having him attend?
Q: So the Church is now going down the path of a sub-text of Universalism known as Pluralism?

SDA News- Church Vandalized

"Vandalism rendered a Silverton church unusable this month, forcing parishioners to worship elsewhere.

Silverton Police Chief Jeff Fossholm said a suspect or suspects broke into the Silverton Seventh-day Adventist Church through a classroom window and emptied several fire extinguishers throughout several rooms and a hallway.

“The Sanctuary was not actually damaged, but the white chemical powder from the fire extinguishers down the hall drifted throughout the building leaving a coating of the caustic chemical all over the place which needs to be cleaned up prior to letting people back in,” Fossholm said.

“My guess is that the timeline as to when they can get back in the building relates more to when a clean-up company can get a team on the project to do the work.”

Silverton Assistant Fire Chief Ed Grambusch said the two primary chemical ingredients in dry chemical extinguishers are sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate. The former, when used in fire extinguishers, is a highly refined chemical which makes for very small particulate matter. It may also contain trace elements of lead or other foreign materials.

The church contracted Summit Cleaning and Restoration, whose workers were wearing protective air masks Wednesday as they labored inside and out at the church. By midday, they had piled up a mound of church carpeting outside, one piece of the process in restoring the building back to a healthy environment.

Damages to the building are estimated to be more than $50,000, according to Jonathan Russell, assistant to the president for multimedia communications for the Oregon Conference of Seventh-day Adventists." StatesmanJournal

Creation Moment 2/27/2018 - Creation & "Evil"

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,

"Evil exists because the created universe is not God, but His creation, so it must of necessity fall short of God, who is perfectly Good. After all, if the universe were perfectly good, without evil, it would just be God.
If the universe is God’s creation, then it must fall short of perfection, and it must contain evil, understood as the deprivation of good.

Theism posits a perfect God, and a creation necessarily short of perfection. Theism seems to have gotten this “prediction” quite right, because the cosmos is certainly short of perfection. Theism predicts evil in the world, precisely because God is Good and because the world is not God.

Theism also predicts that we cannot completely understand evil. While some kinds of evil may be understood as the consequence of humans endowed with free will, other kinds of evil are much more difficult to explain in light of an omniscient and omnibenevolent God. Why are there earthquakes and plagues and terrible accidents? Yet theism predicts the need for theodicy. As God is perfect and infinite, we are imperfect and finite, so we cannot expect to understand God’s ways.

But the most striking prediction of theism is that we will recognize evil as evil. That is, theism posits an objective Source of Moral Law and of Goodness against which the cosmos can be measured. If there is no God, there is no objective Source for a distinction between good and evil. If there is no God, there is no overarching “Ought” in the cosmos. There are merely the opinions of men."

That "Hidden" Treasure

The treasures of the gospel are hidden,

A man may pass over the place where treasure has been hidden.
In his dire necessity he may sit down to rest, knowing not of the treasure hidden at the roots of the tree where he is resting.
This represents the blindness of the Jews. They had eyes but they did not see. The treasure house of all knowledge was in their midst but they knew it not.

Faith in Christ as the world's Redeemer calls for
  *an acknowledgment of the enlightened intellect,
  *controlled by a heart that can discern and appreciate the heavenly treasure.

The Scriptures were not to be adapted to meet the prejudices and jealousies of men. They can be understood only by those who are humbly seeking the hidden treasure. These receive the truth in prophecy, and submit to its authority.

Papal Notes - Judges Citing Francis in Rulings Now???

"A judge in Britain justified his decision to remove a baby from a ventilator, against the wishes of his Catholic parents, by citing a recent controversial address given by Pope Francis.
Judge Hayden then proceeded to cite Pope Francis’ November 2017 open letter to the Pontifical Academy for Life as a justification for the forced removal of Alfie’s life support.  He said:

The position of the Roman Catholic Church is sometimes characterized inaccurately in cases concerning these difficult ethical issues. Mr Mylonas’s document is an open letter, by His Holiness Pope Francis to the President of the Pontifical Academy for Life, dated November 2017. In his message Pope Francis called for “greater wisdom” in striking a balance between medical efforts to prolong life and the responsible decision to withhold treatment when death becomes inevitable. His letter identifies that not adopting or suspending disproportionate measures can avoid over-zealous treatment. I would not presume to add any gloss to the following extracts...

Donation of Constantine & vicarius filii Dei

Let no man deceive you by any means:

for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first,

and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God,

 or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God,

shewing himself that he is God.

"The Donation of Constantine which was used by at least ten popes to justify their claims to temporal power contains this very title:
“. . . as the Blessed Peter is seen to have been constituted vicar of the Son of God [vicarius filii Dei in the original Latin] on the earth, so the Pontiffs who are the representatives of that same chief of the apostles, should obtain from us and our empire the power of a supremacy greater than the clemency of our earthly imperial serenity is seen to have conceded to it.”

The Donation was purportedly a letter written by Constantine the Great to Pope Sylvester I. In the letter Constantine supposedly gave temporal power to the pope. We know for certain that the Donation was in existence as early as the ninth century but was used beginning in the eleventh century to justify the outrageous temporal claims of the papacy.

The authenticity of the Donation of Constantine was first questioned in the fifteenth century with the advent of historical criticism. Nicholas of Cusa had serious reservations about the Donation and around 1450 it was proved to be a forgery and a fraud by the scholarly work of Laurentius Valla. Notably, the Vatican did not appreciate Valla’s work as can be seen by the fact that the Office of the Inquisition officially placed his work on its index of forbidden books in 1559.

Roman Catholic apologist, Patrick Madrid, has brushed aside this evidence by stating the obvious, that the Donation of Constantine was a forgery. Madrid therefore concludes that it cannot be used as an official and authorized statement of the Roman Catholic Church.

Though it is true that the Donation was a forgery, it is also beyond dispute that the Donation was panned off as authentic and official by various popes and Roman Catholic theologians for hundreds of years to sustain the temporal power of the papacy.

Though a forgery, it was used as an official document by these popes to sustain their claims to temporal power.
---If they used it knowing full well that it was a forgery then they were guilty of deception.
---On the other hand, if they did not know that the Donation was a forgery, what does this say about their infallibility?

It is significant that Gratian’s Decretals (published in 1140 and deemed official by the Roman

Catholic Church) incorporated the papal title from the Donation into Roman Catholic canon law. Here are the words: “Beatus Petrus in terris uicarious Filii Dei esseuidetur constitutus.” (Aemilius Friedberg, Corpus Iuris Canonici, column 342).

In more recent times the title has been applied to the pope by Cardinal Edward Manning in his book The Temporal Power of the Vicar of Jesus Christ (1862). In the first statement, Manning indicts the Roman Catholic nations of Europe of his day for their failure to defend the temporal power of the pope:
“’See this Catholic Church, this Church of God, feeble and weak, rejected even by the very nations called Catholic. There is Catholic France, and Catholic Germany, and Catholic Italy giving up this exploded figment of the temporal power of the Vicar of Jesus Christ.’ And so, because the Church seems weak, and the Vicar of the Son of God is renewing the Passion of his Master upon earth, therefore we are scandalized, therefore we turn our faces from him.” (pp. 140, 141).

After mentioning the growing temporal power of the papacy under Gregory I, Leo III, Gregory VII and Alexander III Manning elevates the idea of the temporal power of the pope to the level of ‘a dogma,’ ‘a law of conscience,’ ‘an axiom of the reason,’ and a ‘theological certainty’:
“So that I may say there never was a time when the temporal power of the Vicar of the Son of God, though assailed as we see it, was more firmly rooted throughout the whole unity of the Catholic Church and convictions of its members. . .” (p. 231).

Manning explained why European nations enjoyed stability in the past as compared with the disarray of Europe in the times when he wrote:
“It was a dignified obedience to bow to the Vicar of the Son of God, and to remit the arbitration of their griefs to one whom all wills consented to obey.” (p. 232, emphasis mine)
Lucii Ferraris in his prestigious encyclopedia, Prompta Bibliotheca, also applied the title Vicarius Filii Dei to the pope (1890 edition volume 6, p. 43, Column 2).

In his immensely popular book, Crossing the Threshold of Hope, p. 3, Pope John Paul II explained what he understood to be the source of the power of his office:
“The leader of the Catholic Church is defined by the faith as the Vicar of Jesus Christ (and is accepted as such by believers). The Pope is considered the man on earth who represents the Son of God, who ‘takes the place’ of the Second Person of the omnipotent God of the Trinity.”

bid to offer digital immortality.

A number of Swedish scientists are researching how to produce digital copies of those who have already passed away. Dagen daily has reported they are also planning to set about making robots which would resemble the deceased.

To this end, the Swedish funeral agency Phoenix  is currently looking for volunteers who would give the green light to scientists to replicate the images of their deceased relatives.
The program might one day even approximate the level of sophistication of AI portrayed in the sensational television series Black Mirror, in which the revolutionary programs  are in essence sentient human clones, capable of not just talking but coming into physical contact with real people....., the technology could enable one to talk to a program which provides the image of a departed loved one, allowing them and their relatives to re-live the happy moments of their past."
