Battlefield Earth Series - In The Heart pt.3

The TEMPTATION of CHRIST:
{Case Study of Temptation}

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13

The 3 Approaches used by Lucifer:
---3---
-1- Intellect (materialism)
-2- Utilitarianism (using God for your own purpose)
-3- Imagination (pleasures of this world/hedonism)

-1- Intellect (materialism)
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
Matthew 4:1
-2- Utilitarianism (using God for your own purpose)
And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Matthew 4:6
-3-  Imagination (pleasures of this world/hedonism)
...the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Matthew 4:8,9

* Notice that Lucifer quoted scripture in response to Christ quoting Scripture. But Christ took the
TEXT & put it into CONTEXT.
CHRSIT: It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
Lucifer: ...for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Matthew 4:6
CHRIST:  It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Matthew 4:7

* FRONT DOOR/BAK DOOR
The first approach deals with coming through the FRONT DOOR of the intellect. When all else fails---he comes through the 3rd way, the BACK DOOR of the imagination.
