"Eleven people were killed and dozens injured in a stampede at a stadium in Zimbabwe, as thousands of people at a church service tried to leave through the same exit, police said on Friday.

Around 30,000 people packed into a stadium in Kwekwe, 130 miles west of Harare, on Thursday evening to listen to Walter Magaya, a pastor who draws huge crowds, Senior Assistant Commissioner Shadreck Mubaiwa told Reuters.

When the service ended the congregation rushed toward a single exit, in a stampede that killed four people on the spot. Another seven were pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

"Police tried to rescue people but they were overwhelmed by the crowds. It is unfortunate that people wanted to rush out, which made it difficult to contain the situation," Mubaiwa said." CN

1) What kinda atmosphere is present for a sermon for this to happen? What is this guy preaching & who is he?

2) Christ fed thousands with the fish & loaves, yet I don't remember a stampede-to-death after He spoke....just saying...

SO....a little about who Mr. Magaya is----Apparently is a charismatic/fluff/prosperity style preacher like on American TV- "After receiving the Holy Spirit in 1996, he started Ministry work in line with Preaching and Healing. In 2003 he organised his first All-night prayer, that was when he first witnessed manifestation of different spirits (demons) as Jesus used him to cast out demons

tormenting his people. God moved in a Mighty way that night.
The first notable miracle was that of Mr. Nyandoro in 2013,  who was blind for 3 years had his sight restored by the power of Jesus Christ of Nazareth working through the Man of God Prophet Walter Magaya.  After this miraculous healing Prophet Magaya only shouted  "MBIRI KUNA JESU " as the whole congregation screamed with joy for what the Lord had just done." Nationalistic Turf Fight- "Magaya was however up in arms with some Zimbabweans and the media who are quick to dismiss and cast aspersions on local prophets but reserved all the admiration for church leaders from countries such as Nigeria and Ghana.

"We got a problem, it’s actually a national crisis in Zimbabwe because people seem to easily accept foreign prophets ahead of their own," he said.

"If you check, for the many years we have been ministering nobody is really finding the good things that is happening to PHD and promote it.

"But if were to make a single mistake, you will find every paper writing about it."

Adultery Scandal- "HARARE - Prophet Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries leader Prophet Walter Magaya’s adultery charges have taken a new twist after the woman alleged to be having an illicit affair with the celebrity preacher dispelled the claims.

This comes after Denford Mutashu filed a lawsuit against the popular prophet, demanding $500 000 in adultery damages from Magaya for allegedly having an affair with his wife, Memory Nomsa Ruvazhe.
Mutashu has also filed criminal charges against the prophet, accusing him of bigamy and making death threats against him.
But in a July 30 affidavit seen by the Daily News, Ruvazhe strenuously denies having an affair with Magaya.
She claims that she began having problems with her husband after she visited Magaya’s guest house in Marlborough, where she stayed for three days seeking spiritual guidance and divine healing.
Mutashu claims Ruvazhe was cohabiting with Magaya for the three days and the prophet was having an inappropriate sexual liaison with his wife.
“When I returned from the guest house, I started having problems with my husband with him accusing me of being in love with the prophet,” Ruvazhe said in the affidavit." DailyNews

"This Saturday evening, Nov. 22, numerous major corporations are participating in a “gala fundraiser” in Boston for the radical LGBT group “Human Rights Campaign” (HRC). Companies such as Staples, CVS, Liberty Mutual Insurance, and Citizens Bank are donating up to $25,000.
What kind of a group is this? This week the founder of HRC– and current Board member – Terrence Bean, 62, was arrested for “third degree sodomy” of a 15-year-old boy, a felony.

HRC uses this money to fund the radical anti-family LGBT movement across America: To push homosexuality into elementary schools, help pass laws across the country to criminalize Christian belief in the workplace, fund the efforts to force “gay marriage” through the federal courts, viciously harass pro-family groups, and much more.

HRC’s founder was also in the news last June. According to news reports, Bean installed a video camera in his own bedroom and recorded his sexual encounters with numerous men that he picked up and brought home.
Sadly, in the homosexual movement this kind of behavior is not unusual or even surprising. Homosexual icons such as Harvey Milk were well known for their sexual liaisons with young teenage boys and their indiscriminate numbers sexual partners.

Inside the weird world of epigenetics

"Experiments have shown, for example, that the experiences of a parent might lead to molecular changes that aren't encoded in DNA but can still be passed down to children, affecting the health and behavior of future generations.
These findings fall within a field known as epigenetics — and research in this area has turned up a few tantalizing results. Perhaps most famously, a recent study appeared to show that mice can inherit experiences of fear from their grandfathers — something traditional genetics would have suggested is impossible.

"The ramifications in terms of human health are enormous," says Sarah Kimmins, an epigenetics and reproductive biology researcher at McGill University. "What you're doing and how you’re living your life is going to have consequences not just for your child but for your grandchildren."
By the middle of the 20th century, scientists began realizing that DNA sequences weren't the only things telling genes what to do. Some instructions were also coming from the epigenome — basically a collection of other chemical markers and signals that interact with DNA and influence its activity.

Scientists have discovered that these chemical markers can also be affected by the outside environment. One good example involves bees. The difference between a queen and worker honeybee isn't their DNA sequences. Instead, larvae that end up becoming queens are fed more of a food called royal jelly, which contains ingredients that seem to regulate certain genes through epigenetic markers. In a similar fashion, scientists have found that some dietary choices in humans seem to turn cancer-related genes on or off.

Over the past decade, some scientists have suggested that epigenetic signals from the environment can be passed on from one generation to the next.
If so, that would be a big departure from what scientists had previously believed. Researchers had long known that the environment in the womb could alter fetal development. And they also knew that environmental factors, like radiation, could directly alter DNA that then got passed down. But environmental effects that only changed the epigenome, and not DNA itself, weren't thought to be heritable. (Scientists had thought that these epigenetic markers were reset with every new generation.)

Epigenetic inheritance is an extra layer suggesting that someone's experiences may affect how his or her children and grandchildren use their genes. That clashes with everything that has been understood about inheritance since Darwin and Mendel.

1) Grandparents might be able to pass on their experiences to grandkids: Some epidemiological studies that track health over several generations seem to suggest that the experiences of grandparents can somehow get passed down at least two generations, to grandkids. And this inheritance doesn't appear to be due to genetic mutations — but rather something else.
2) Animals might pass experiences on for two generations — and maybe through epigenetic changes: Some interesting recent animal studies include a paper published in December 2013 (by Sarah Kimmins and colleagues), showing that male lab mice fed a diet low in folate had different epigenetic markers on DNA in their sperm, and had babies with more birth defects.
Perhaps the most intriguing animal paper so far is a study published online in the winter of 2013 that appeared to show that fear memories can be inherited. Researchers from Emory University trained male mice to associate an odor with an electrical shock, so that they would get startled simply by smelling the odor by itself. Surprisingly, the scientists found that the next two generations of mice also got startled by the smell.
3) Childhood experiences might affect adult health — possibly through epigenetic changes:One key study showed that baby rats fostered by mothers who provided less care have epigenetic changes on a gene related to stress. Child abuse in people has been correlated with similar epigenetic changes, too. Name a health condition — cancer, diabetes, schizophrenia — and there's a decent chance that someone's found some kind of correlation to an epigenetic marker.

The big controversy is whether these epigenetic markers are actually being passed down through multiple generations. This idea is known as transgenerational epigenetics. And the idea is still fairly young and not fully sketched out." VOX

Is it that we are a delicately wired machine, & when we deviate from God's design, we fall victim to our--& our ancestor's ways-- the repercussions of sin felt down through generational history? So the Bible is right again....

Senegal is giving lifetime jail sentences to some gays. This is wrong. People should have the

freedom to be gay if they so choose (for God has given us freewill). When a state plays "theocracy", it gets cluttered by man.
ON THE OTHER HAND - this does NOT mean that Christians should support legalizing gay marriage--for that is a stamp of approval of the sinful act.
GOD will be the judge, jury & yes, executioner when this is all done down here. NOT the SENEGAESE government.......


"DAKAR, Senegal –  The president of Gambia has signed a bill into law that calls for life imprisonment for some homosexual acts, the latest African country to codify harsh penalties for the gay community.
A copy of the legislation, which was obtained by The Associated Press on Friday, indicates that President Yahya Jammeh signed it on Oct. 9, though no government officials have yet publicly notified the country of the new law. Jammeh, one of Africa's most vocal anti-gay leaders, instructed gays and lesbians in 2008 to leave the country or risk decapitation.
Amnesty International recently reported that Gambian security forces are torturing people arrested in raids, threatening them with rape and pressuring them to confess to homosexual acts.
The recent arrests are the first under the new law, Amnesty said Thursday. The group said at least four men, a 17-year-old boy and nine women have reportedly been arrested in recent weeks on suspicion of committing homosexual acts. An earlier statement described how the suspects were detained at the headquarters of the National Intelligence Agency in Banjul." FOX

"The team reviewed data on the 534 people to have flown in space at the time of the study, including 57 women, and studied cardiovascular, reproductive, musculoskeletal, immunological and behavioral health.

Changes in zero gravity included worse vision problems among some men, calcium loss for both

sexes, and for some female astronauts, an inability to stand for long periods without fainting after landing back on earth, according to the study.

Dr. Saralyn Mark, a lead author on the study and a senior medical adviser at NASA, told ABC News that one ongoing problem for those flying in space is that the eye and even eyeball can be affected by zero gravity.

While only a small portion of astronauts were studied, 82 percent of male astronauts, or 14 out of 17, were found to have suffered from changes to their vision that researchers called visual impairment intracranial pressure, or VIIP.

They called the impairment "one of the most serious spaceflight-related health risks."

While a large majority of the male astronauts had a problem, statistically fewer women were struck with the same symptoms. Only 62 percent, or 5 out of 8 female astronauts reported the same symptoms and none had as severe symptoms as some of the male astronauts. Researchers were examining if the women’s age, hormones or vascular health helped them fare better in space.

While male astronauts battled to keep their eyesight, female astronauts have faced other difficulties back on terra firma. Female astronauts were more likely to faint while standing when they initially come back to earth, the study found.

In other cases, both men and women have faced similar problems, including “space motion sickness.” Women in space tend to report more motion sickness as they leave earth and enter the space station, whereas men report feeling queasy more often as they return to earth, the study found." ABC

"In the wake of the Noah film's failure to resonate with Bible-believing moviegoers, new concerns are being raised about the new movie based in part of the life of Moses, as the so-called "Year of the Bible Movie" enters its final phase.

Part of the concern about EXODUS: Gods and Kings, which releases Dec. 12, is that director Ridley Scott has cast a child in the role of the voice of God. This comes on top of the kerfuffle raised by actor Christian Bale a few weeks ago when he characterized Moses, whom he plays in the film, as both "barbaric" and "schizophrenic."
Now, The Hollywood Reporter has a story featured on The Drudge Report detailing two points of significant concern: Scott reveals that the voice of God is played by a young boy, and a consultant to the film admits "they went off the biblical text" in making EXODUS. 
"Each new detail on EXODUS diminishes our hopes that the film will resonate with faith and secular audiences alike," said Chris Stone, founder of Faith Driven Consumer and certified brand strategist. "Consumers don't object to filmmakers taking artistic license—they expect that—but they strongly object to deviations that fundamentally undercut the core biblical story and message."
"Using the voice of a child for God the Father is a primary example; it will likely offend millions around the world. It's gross miscasting,..."
"From available media accounts, and what we are being told privately from insiders, EXODUS is on track to be the next Noah. If that is true, it's unfortunate for the audience, the investors and the studio. ... The film's likely performance will leave millions on the table because it is neither true to the letter and spirit of the text." CN
Commentary:
How long will "Christians" keep wasting time & money on Hollywood? They know that they are secular & bigoted towards religion. Of course this movie--like Noah---is going to stray from the Bible & make a mockery of Moses. Just re-read Mr. Bale's view of Moses....
BTW...this isn't about encouraging movie going..rather a review of what's going on in Christendom as they seek the approval of Hollywood for who knows what reason....

Creation Moment 11/21/2014 - Crumbling Darwinism

* "The theory of large-scale evolution uses the fossil record as a history book that documents the story of the evolution of increasingly more complex organisms through deep time (many millions of years). This history book begins with marine invertebrates, which are preserved in Cambrian rocks. From that beginning, the passage of time is recorded in the rock layers stacked on top of the Cambrian layer, each successive layer containing fossils of new, more complex life forms. Fish are found quite early in the record, then amphibians, and later, reptiles, which are followed by birds and mammals, with humans being one of the last types to appear as fossils.
        
There is a problem, however, in the fossil record that Darwin agonized over because he realized it could compromise his theory. In most cases each group of organisms appears as fossils without a series of intermediate forms showing how they evolved from their supposed ancestors.

* There is no law that specifies the order in which the letters are placed on the paper. The order of the letters is determined by ideas, by information; and ideas and information are the province of an intelligent mind. Information originates only in intelligence.
       
Like books, life is comprised of two components: physical molecules and the information contained in the sequences of those molecules. Simple biological molecules, like amino acids, will form by the unaided action of chemical laws. But amino acids by themselves don’t make anything alive. These simple molecules, and many others, must be arranged in the proper sequence to function properly. The sequence of amino acids in a protein is controlled by the sequence of another kind of simple molecules—nucleotides—also found in DNA. These amino acids and nucleotides are like bricks. Bricks alone won’t make a palace; there must also be an engineer and a blueprint.
Life exists because every life form contains a massive amount of information recorded in an incredibly complex and wonderful instruction book inside its cells—DNA. It has been demonstrated repeatedly that there is no adequate explanation for such information other than that an intelligent “inventor”—in this case, God—put it there.


 * In fact, the environment that we grow up in even makes what are
called epigenetic changes in how the DNA is interpreted. These
epigenetic changes don’t alter the DNA, but they do influence how
that DNA blueprint is interpreted, changing the offspring of those
organisms. Those changes may be passed down several
generations. And if the environment returns to what it was
originally, the organisms can go back to interpreting the
information in the DNA in the original way.  


In other words, because of epigenetics, the conditions in which a baby is born and raised can affect it and its offspring negatively or positively for several generations. This makes one think of the biblical statement, “The Lord . . . punishes the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation’” (Num. 14:18, NIV). It seems that He who inspired the Bible writers knew something about epigenetics.

prominent evolutionary scientist said that the neo-Darwinian synthesis needs to be redone, and “this time we aren’t going to blow it.” Only now is his meaning finally becoming evident. failure to address climate change – by literally burying their heads in the sand.

The colourful demonstration came as their prime minister issued an extraordinary statement saying “jobs and growth” should be the focus of the G20 summit this weekend, not “what might happen in 16 years’ time” as a result of global warming. Last month he was quoted as saying “coal is good for humanity”.

On Bondi Beach in Sydney, around 400 men, women and school children dug holes in the sand and stuck their heads in them, symbolising Mr Abbott’s avoidance of the pressing issue.

Why did Solomon do that?

Solomon's brother Adonijah had tried to have himself made king with the help of Joab before Solomon was made king. The plan backfired & Solomon forgave his brother and sent him home.
But then Adonijah had Solomon's mother request to marry the young maid brought into King David to keep him warm on his deathbed (and no, David...he did not "know her" in the Biblical sense according to the Scriptures-for it tells us he didn't "know her").
But when Solomon was confronted with the request his reaction was - And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; Now therefore, as the LORD liveth, which hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day. 1 Kings 2:22,24

Matthew Henry, in his commentary, explains it well as to why Solomon reacted as he did: "To ask that he may succeed the king in his bed is, in effect, to ask that he may succeed him in his throne; The warrant is immediately signed for his execution, and no less a man than Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, general of the army, is ordered to be the executioner, ...Solomon's wisdom did not see it needful to examine the matter any further; it was plain enough that Adonijah aimed at the crown, and Solomon could not be safe while he lived."

IN the NEWS - New Jersey on Death Watch

"The New Jersey state Assembly approved a bill to legalize assisted suicide on Thursday, leaving the matter now in the hands of the Senate and Governor Chris Christie as to whether or not the proposed legislation will become law.
The “Aid in Dying for the Terminally Il Act” cleared the assembly by 41 to 31, which would make provision for doctors to prescribe lethal medication to terminally ill patients. It also exempts physicians from “civil or criminal liability or professional disciplinary action for any action taken in compliance with the provisions of the bill, including person(s) who are present when a qualified terminally ill patient self-administers medication prescribed pursuant to this act.”
Dr. Ana Gomes of Phillipsburg said that most doctors in the state oppose the proposal.
“We’re supposed to be one hand to hold and one hand to heal, not one hand to hold and one hand to kill,” she said. “So I really don’t have many counterparts that would advocate for this.”
The legislation comes just days after California native Brittany Maynard took her life in Oregon, urging others to work to pass so-called death with dignity laws across the country."

evolutionary theory need a rethink?" Answering "Yes, urgently" are Kevin Laland (professor of behavioral and evolutionary biology at the University of St. Andrews), Tobias Uller, Marc Feldman, Kim Sterelny, Gerd B. Müller, Armin Moczek, Eva Jablonka, and John Odling-Smee -- some of whom were members of the infamous "Altenberg 16." In that context, they began to conceive of what they call the Extended Evolutionary Synthesis ("EES"). That is essentially a new evolutionary synthesis that rejects some of the core tenets of neo-Darwinism (like the views that natural selection is the dominant force guiding evolution, or that there is a "tree of life"). Their article contains a stunningly forthright admission: some scientists avoid making criticisms of neo-Darwinian evolution lest they give the appearance of supporting ID:

The number of biologists calling for change in how evolution is conceptualized is growing rapidly. Strong support comes from allied disciplines, particularly developmental biology, but also genomics, epigenetics, ecology and social science. We contend that evolutionary biology needs revision if it is to benefit fully from these other disciplines. The data supporting our position gets stronger every day.
Yet the mere mention of the EES often evokes an emotional, even hostile, reaction among evolutionary biologists. Too often, vital discussions descend into acrimony, with accusations of muddle or misrepresentation. Perhaps haunted by the spectre of intelligent design, evolutionary biologists wish to show a united front to those hostile to science. Some might fear that they will receive less funding and recognition if outsiders -- such as physiologists or developmental biologists -- flood into their field.

 On the one hand, it's pretty disturbing to hear that biologists would self-censor their views simply because they don't like the perceived alternative -- which they label as being "hostile to science." This shows that the field of evolutionary biology is in an incredibly unhealthy state. Dogmatism on evolution is hindering scientific advancement.
